Hello everyone, welcome! Today is all about 1,8-cineole. Yes, I am so thrilled because I love 1,8-cineole. It's so opening, it's so energizing and refreshing. We're gonna tell you all about this special chemical component. We have some things we're excited to tell you about leading up to that. We would love to know in the comments, we would love to know First of all, we have something to tell you in case you're hearing background noise. Can you tell them what's happening out there? Oh yeah, we're right in the middle of hydrosol or lavender distillations.
And just before I sat down here, I ran out there, took a smell, took a waft because it was kind of a waft. So lavender is distilling right out there. Yeah, that's what we're trying to say. And I have to say, it might be the most gorgeous distillation ever. It's incredible. So we have a team from Aromatics International that goes up to Karen's and Larry's high-altitude lavender field, my parents, and they harvest a row or 2 or half a row depending on how much fits in the still that day. And then every morning we're distilling for the next week.
Yes, they have 2 stills going. Yes. They pack it in just right and then off the process goes. And oh, does it smell good out there. It smells so good, but also means there's trolleys going by and there's a hustle and bustle. So hopefully you're not hearing any background noise, but if you are, that's what's going on. All right. We've got all kinds of people here from all over the place. I'm so thrilled. I can't even mention them all. It's every state you can think of. And country.
And country. Yes. So that's really exciting that we can all come together here. It is so exciting. Yes. Let's go ahead. I'm going— because we've got a lot we want to go over. Let's go ahead and hop over to my slides. So again, this is our 6-week chemistry series. We're looking at how to blend by chemical component, what percentage is a high enough percentage of that component to actually have benefit in the blend that you're— the intention you're blending for. And this specific chemical component is so wonderful.
It has that open, fresh Clear breath. And the essential oils that are rich in 1,8-cineole all have these similar actions. So we're going to tell you about this today. Also, all of this content is found in Lesson 4 inside of the Natural Living Lab Classroom. You can access it and go through and read at your own pace. The lessons will be available through the end of this series for about 8 weeks because we'll have our 6 weeks and then a couple of weeks for folks to wrap up and look at next steps, what might be The best thing for you to do after learning this content, and I want everyone to
have an opportunity to go through. Fabulous. All right, so let's go ahead and go to— I love this quote from Marcel Proust: The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes. A lot of times when we're able to look at the things around us in a new way, in a more in-depth way, it really adds understanding to how we're blending our essential oils, how we're approaching our aromatherapy practice. So we have a couple of oils we're gonna look at today.
They come from the same tree, but we get very different results from those oils, and I'm excited to go through that with you. All right, so hello, hello. We're so happy that you're here. We'd love for you to— we'd love to know if this is your first time with us, if you're new to this series, or if you've been here for a while. Let us know in the chat if you're a 1, if you're a 2, or if you're a 3. And again, whatever experience you've had with us so far, we're just so happy you're here. Thank you. Especially if this is your first event with us.
We want to give you a warm welcome. You found your new aromatherapy community, your new natural living community, and we're so happy that you're here. So by the end of our workshop today, these are the things that you'll be able to do. You'll be able to spot an oxide on a report and hear what its shape does. You'll be able to answer some true and false questions, and you'll be able to see the same tree reveal. We're gonna make a chest rub start to finish, and we're gonna talk about how to make a chest rub for adults, and then how to make a chest rub for kids.
And then of course, we're going to go over our winners for today because we had a homework giveaway post running inside of the Natural Living Lab. Look at all these numbers flooding in. Flooding in. We've got 2s, 3s, 1s, all of them. That's so exciting. Welcome again, whether you've been here for 50 years, 30 years, or 2 weeks, Or this is your first event, we're so happy that you're here. All right, so a reminder, your free gift today for being here live with us, we are really having fun giving free gifts to live attendees.

I'm a dual citizen, so I'm always happy to give our Canadian customers even extra perks whenever we can. Absolutely. I'm not a Canadian citizen. I know. I'm still cheering. But you're partial to Canada. I mean, your whole family is. It's until 3 PM Mountain Time, so it's actually 5 PM Eastern. We misspoke. And you know what? We're having fun doing a new promo every week, so sometimes the rules change. So it's actually until 3 PM Mountain Time, which is 5 PM Eastern same time. So you actually have a longer shopping window, which is great.
You're good. You're good. Great. All right, if you have any clarifying questions, you can always email team@aromatics.com or pop your question in here into the chat. Again, we're so happy that you're here. We have our 3 winners. So each week we have a homework giveaway post running, and the goal of that homework giveaway post is to encourage you to go and make the blends from each lesson that focus on a chemical component. So this week it's all about looking at blends that are rich in linalool acetate. So congratulations to Susan W., Julie B., and Marie H.
We are so excited for all 3 of you to win a complimentary workshop, which Karen puts together these incredibly rich, in-depth workshops. They're paid workshops through the AromaHead Institute. So each of you are getting free access to, lifetime access to Essential Oils for Respiratory Wellness. Now, we're so excited for all 3 of you to learn more about respiratory wellness and essential oil aromatherapy strategies around that. Now, for anyone else who is interested in this course, it's usually a $59 tuition fee to enroll.
We decided for the rest of today to make it half off to anyone else inside of NLC or the Natural Living Lab because we're like, well, maybe everyone would like to have access to this course. Oh, that's awesome. So for today only, anyone inside of the Natural Living Lab or the Natural Living Club will be able to get this $59 course for half off, which is $59 divided by 2. How do they get that? Basically $30. So how they get that, we're going to put a link into the chat, and that's how you go and sign up. We set up a special cart with that course already there, so it's easy to get that 50% off.
Okay. Yes. So they would just click the special link. Yes. Yes, that's coming. Click the special link that's coming. It is over in the chat where it's you, me, Karen, Larry, and Megan did 2 links. It's the second link yesterday. We have links flying. We have promos flying. Our team is just doing an incredible job making all of this happen. I think it's there, not the 247 channel. Jenny's the conductor of all of these special gifts.
And our team also. We are just there because we want to give as many free and discounted things as we can, especially when we're in a series like this, which is pretty fun. All right, which course is it? It is the Essential Oils for Respiratory Wellness. So through midnight tonight, you have the opportunity to get this lifetime access to this 90-minute workshop with Karen and Jenny, which is us. for $29.50 instead of the usual enrollment— tuition fee of $59, and you have until midnight tonight.
Except for our 3 winners, they get it free. For free, I know. And we have another homework giveaway post we're going to run today on Lesson 4, which is pretty exciting. All right, so it's a fantastic course, and we can tell you a little bit. Devin found the link. There we go. So someone is saying it's already 1 PM Eastern time. So we're in Montana time, that's why everything's confusing. So it's going till 5 Eastern time. Okay, and for the respiratory workshop, it goes until midnight.
Until midnight, you have until midnight to get 50% off. So if you're interested, the oils inside of the respiratory workshop are the 1,8-cineole rich oils, and we go really in depth. And so if you're enjoying the lesson 4, or lesson— yep, lesson 4 content, you're gonna really enjoy this workshop. Shall we continue? Let's continue. I don't see any questions coming in. Nope, everybody is covered. Yes. Got the link. It took an extra second, but we got the link. There's the link. So just save that link or multitask.
If you are excited about 50% off tuition to that workshop, if you could pop in a 3, that just gives us feedback if we should do it again or if we shouldn't. So let us know if you're appreciating that. All right. All right, shall we dive into eucalyptus? Let's go. All right, 1,8-cineole, here we come, here we come. So if a eucalyptus oil, and there are several, has ever opened a window in your mind, in your breath, in your breathing, in your airways, you've already met 1,8-cineole.
So take a chain of carbons, curl into a ring, and tuck an oxygen atom right inside that ring like a bridge, That's the in-the-ring oxygen makes an oxide, which is a whole new chemical family for us. So compare the 3 we know now. We've got linalool, it wears its oxygen on out on a branch. Linalool acetate wears a whole acetate arm, and the cineole hides its oxygen inside. So same 10 carbons, a new shape, and the entire effect changes.
Also, you don't need to remember any of that to know that the 1,8-cineole oils are so good for X, Y, and Z, which we're going to get into. That's for those of you who love chemistry. That's for those of you who love chemistry, which we have a lot of folks who love chemistry. So we wanted to kind of give you a taste of how we know all of these things and how they work the way they do from that chemistry perspective. You'll also hear it called the eucalyptol, which is the same molecule just wearing 2 different names, like linalool and linalol. They're spelled differently.
So again, if the shapes feel like a lot today, please be gentle with yourself. It's completely okay to hear this as many times as it takes to land. And that's why we talk about it so much is because it does take a little bit, especially if this is your first time ever hearing anything about chemistry and essential oils. I know, it's great. So we reach for 1,8-cineole when we have that stuffy head in a heavy room, or it's a foggy afternoon, we're not able to focus. Or in cold and flu season, basically for every age in the house, although it's incredibly important to be very careful how you introduce it depending on age in the house.
And for this course that we're doing, that's the important information right there that you just said, when we would reach for it. Yep. Yep. That's fantastic. Can we hop over to comments? I'm just curious to see how many people are— oh, good. We've got lots of 3s coming in. Yay! Well, if you're— I'm so glad. Because we come up with ideas we think you'll love, and then we just like to know that you actually like them. So thank you for that feedback. Misty Martin just got her course. Yay! Misty Martin just got her course. That's wonderful. That's exciting.
Okay, so there's special link to sign up for that special course for 50% off. Mina's got it right there. Mina's got it right there. Thank you, Mina. Yep. I will be popping in that link as well as the code to get free shipping in the US and then $25 gift card for international shipping. I'll be popping that information into the Natural Living Lab after we're done with our time today. I like that our beeswax is already melting. Our beeswax is melting. We're getting prepared for our demonstration.
Yes, I love that. Okay, good. All right, let's go ahead and continue on. So true or false, Pop a T or an F in the chat. Ravintsara, which we've been talking about in Lesson 3 or in Lesson 4, and Ho Wood, which is from our Linalool Lesson 1, come from the same tree. So these 2 bottles smell nothing alike, and yet one of them is this week's powerhouse while the other one was our very first week's quiet star. So go with your gut on this one. Kieran and I love this question, and we get to open the report and find out together.
So Ravintsara and Ho Wood come from the same tree. True or false? And that was in your course. Yeah, it was in your course. Do you see, we both get so in tuned into the comments that sometimes we forget and forget to listen to the other one talk. We're 99% good at listening and reading. All right. Your kit. So on the 1/8 sinewall, On the 1,8-cineole line. So we've got Ravintsara, which typically is around 59% of our 1,8-cineole.
We've got spike lavender, interestingly enough, which is around 34%. And that is, 1,8-cineole is not present in other varieties of lavender, other species of lavender. So our Lavandula angustifolia, which we are distilling right outside our warehouse in a giant copper still. Wow. We'll be doing that every day for about a week and a half. Does not have 1,8-cineole in it, or it has like 1.5%. But spike lavender, our Lavandula latifolia, is rich in 1,8-cineole, that 34%.
So I love spike lavender 'cause it has that linalool, linalool acetate, but then it has that spike lavender. So it really is a different personality. It really is. Yes. It's kind of like lavender's punk rock cousin. All right, then we've got cardamom, which is 29% roughly. And again, these percentages are coming from current GC/MS reports from Aromatics International on current batches. That's kind of surprising to a lot of people that cardamom would have 1,8-cineole and how it can be so supportive to the breath.
Yep, exactly. Um, and what's great about, you can see How all of these oils have, significant— well, most of them. And you can see how lavender has 0.02 and ho wood has 0.01. But, um, going from ravintsara, spike lavender, cardamom, and rosemary, chemotype camphor, all of those have significant amounts of 1,8-cineole. They all smell so differently even though they're bright and energizing. So that's where the fun in blending comes in.
You can really blend for the nose that you're That's right in front of you, whether it's your own or someone else's, a patient, client, friend, family member. What? I think it's listening. It just kept growing. All right. So the answer to the true and false question from the previous slide is true. So come with us to the top and bottom of that staircase because this is ravintsara, sits at 59.7%, and ho wood, again from the same tree, is at 0.01%.
So both of them are this specific Latin name, Cinnamomum camphora, and it's the very same species just grown in different places into different chemotypes. So one tree makes the opening molecule and the other one makes the calming molecule, and that's where that CT chemotype is so important. So literally the same tree grown in different places creates very different oils— Ho Wood and Ravintsara. And Ravintsara is from the leaves, and Ho Wood is also from the, from the wood and the branches.
There you go. Yep. So the same tree, just different parts of the tree, which is confusing. That's just the way it is. That's just the way it is in the plant world. Right, it's kind of like petitgrain, right? It's from the leaves of the bitter orange tree. Petitgrain. Petitgrain. Bitter orange, or is it blood orange? It is bitter orange. That's what I thought, but I wanted to confirm. The leaves of the bitter orange tree versus the fruit fruit, the peel, creating the bitter orange essential oil.
Blossoms of neroli. And the blossoms of neroli. Thank you, Devin. We need to get you a mic. Can we get you a mic? Uh, I'm more comfy back here. Or a 3rd seat. Devin is low-key, but he knows a lot about aromatherapy from his 10 years of running the show behind the scenes. So thank you. All right, so again, we're going to go ahead and make this cold season chest rub. Now regardless of what time of year it is, it's always possible to get a cold or to get a cold or a flu.
So we really want to make sure that you're prepared. And we're heading into cold and flu season in the fall here in our part of the world, although I have the cutest little nephew and the cutest little niece, and a cold or flu is just moments away for all of us anytime because they're out there Living in this big world with kids and playgrounds and all kinds of things. So we're gonna make this together. We're gonna make this together. So we're still, we're still good. Karen, um, is refreshing her event.
Let's go ahead and we've got beeswax melting. You can look at my slide if you want. Okay. Are we ready? We're ready. I was trying to— Let's go ahead and make this recipe. Get this going again here. Yes. This is a gorgeous recipe, especially Why I say any time of the year is it is breath-opening. It's a great chest rub. It helps to get those allergies under control, a cold and flu. And right now, especially in the Spokane area, and it's— we're only 200 miles or less, just 3 hours east of Spokane, and we have a lot of smoke in the air.
And we have fires dotted all around us too. Fire's got it all around. There's fires in Oregon, California, everywhere. Basically all of the west, southwest is in fire and all of the east is flooding. So— One of my friends said we need to make the US into a taco and then we're going to be fine. That's right, exactly. So I love this right now because I am also experiencing breathing with all of the smoke around, and this is so soothing and comforting and opening.
So let's make this. Our first thing that we're going to do, and this is a beeswax salve. Yes. So I'm going to turn my, um, little weight scale on. This is our Aromahead Institute weight scale, and those of you who have been blending with us for a while know that this is always here with us as we're blending. So this recipe calls for, um, we're going to make the adult one That's different than my— Is that different than yours? The recipe was 0.25 ounce is basically 7 grams.
Shall we check it against what we have in the course? Let me see. 7 grams in the course. Let's just make sure. Let's just make sure. So I'm going to hop over to the Natural Body Lab classroom. And while you do that, we have so many pieces moving around, we, Let's go to this week's recipes. For some reason it doesn't want to connect me to the internet over here. I know, Karen's computer's offline, but my computer's online and we're online, so we're good to go. Okay. Ready? So this is the cold and flu chest rub from the course, which matches the slide.
Is that the same you have? Yes. So 7 grams. Yeah. 7 grams of beeswax. There we go. Or 0.25 ounce of beeswax. And since it's a small amount, it's just easier to do it by grams as well. All right, so I've got my 7 grams, and then I'm going to move this over to the side. What I did is I then put my beeswax right directly in the 2-ounce container. This little glass container is so perfect to melt beeswax in.
I put it right in the container, and then we're going to set it on our heating device, which I have been doing so that we're ready for you. We're ready for you. I know we started this about 10 minutes before, we started the workshop. I started this really during while you were speaking, so it's probably been going for about 10 minutes. There you go, that's a good point. So since this is a 2-ounce glass jar and our total amount is 2 ounces, it makes it really easy because we're just going to put in our carrier, which is jojoba wax.
And we always use a carrier, especially to make a salve. Right, you have to have a carrier. And it also helps protect your skin from the essential oils. And a carrier actually is a good transport to get the essential oils down into where it needs to go. So we're just going to put the rest, we're going to fill this up. And it starts to turn solid again, just up to the neck. Right up to this line right here is our 2 ounces.
You can also use castor oil if you prefer. You could use sweet almond oil, marula, baobab. This happens to be jojoba oil, which is also jojoba wax. Now we're just going to give it a little stir and get this melting again. And once this is melted, we're going to put in our essential oils. The essential oils that we're using are Ravintsara, cardamom, and rosemary chemotype camphor.
Now rosemary chemotype camphor, yes, has camphor in it, but it also has 1,8-cineole. So the recipe is 12 drops of our Ravintsara. Okay. And then 12 drops of our Rosemary Chemotype Camphor, and then 12 drops of Curcumin. This is— 12 drops of each. This is gonna be beautiful. This is beautiful. We're bringing in that uplifting Ravintsara, which is so beautiful with that 1,8-cineole, but they have other components in them as well that help to bring us the therapeutic properties that we're looking for when we're talking about respiratory.
Absolutely. Would you like me to go to the slide or a different place? I'm just waiting for this to melt just a little bit more. Karen's computer would rather be helping with the distillation right now. Yeah, isn't that crazy? I might have to go over to a hotspot. Do you want to create a hotspot? I was on the hotspot and it stopped. I see. For some reason it decided to— It's really handy when we can have both of our computers going because then we can see all the things we need to. So she's going to take just a moment and get that restarted over there, and I'm going to take a minute.
Use my computer? Do you want to use Devin's computer? Let me just turn off the whole Wi-Fi for my computer. So you problem solve tech, which she's one of the best techie people in my life, while I go over to your comments, which is what I wanted to do anyway. All right, so yes, Lisa, this is a 2-ounce glass chart. Uh, and yes, Janet, that this is a tea warmer that we often use. Oh good, you're up and running. That we often use when we're melting small amounts of beeswax or we're making salves or butters or whatever, whatever it might be.
Maybe not as much butters, but salves and perfumes, anything that calls for that melting of beeswax. So it's a, it's a fantastic— it's on Karen's Amazon list that we have over in our community too. I know! I love Ravintsara for clearing my head. I do as well. Sometimes it's nice just to go and take a whiff of an oil, immediate clearing, and then carry on with your day. So I like to use a glass stir rod as it doesn't react with any of the components that I'm going to be putting in here.
I would also use a metal spoon. That would be perfectly fine as well. Mm-hmm. So I just love using— I like how this gets into the little nooks and crannies. Uh, right underneath here so I can make sure that everything is melted really nicely. And sometimes, you know, your beeswax up under the neck— I like nooks and croonies better than nooks and crannies. I'm gonna say that from now on. Nooks and croonies. Nooks and croonies.
Oh, that's right. Yeah, yeah. Uh, yes. And if you— so the free gift for today, which is free shipping on any order, no minimum, inside of the US. And then on any order over $75 for international customers, we'll give you a $25 gift card. That idea came from one of our— one of you, one of our attendees. So if you have any ideas of what free gift you would like next week, just pop it in the chat because we sit down and we brainstorm it, and your ideas matter to us, and we'd love to know what you would like next week's free gift to be. So I— what I'm doing is I'm just waiting A few little specks to melt because I want it completely melted before I put in my essential oils.
And while I was there, while I'm waiting for that, there was a little bit I wanted to say. Yes, please. About the, um, the 1,8-cineole. Of course, we know that it helps to dissipate that mucus, bring that mucus up. It's a really good decongestant, in other words. Decongests the chest area, but it also decreases the inflammation that happens in our nostrils. And that's why it's also a really good muscle for pain and inflammation.
You can put Ravintsara in your muscle blends. In fact, all 3 of these are fantastic in muscle, sore muscle blends. It's antimicrobial, so it's effective against different viruses, different So right away, as you're breathing this in, you're doing nothing but supporting your respiratory, no matter what the issue is coming in. And you know, when you're supporting your respiratory therapeutically, and Kiran will probably get to this, and I don't mean to cut you off, every single oil also has energetic and emotional properties.
So you're getting just so much good stuff. It's not just a cold and flu chest salve. That's right. And that's a really good point. The Ravintsara is, is really good for our cognitive functioning. It helps to enhance our alertness. And then we get on down to α-terpineol that we also have in our Ravintsara. And again, it is very calming. Yes. So we've got a component that helps your cognitive function to be enhanced, but at the same time, we feel calm and in control.
Yes. We feel kind of grounded. Yes. Yes. Okay, so it's all melted. Should we go ahead and put the oils in? We shall. We had a question about, is this jar safe to heat up? It is. This is a 2-ounce glass jar. That's a tempered jar, so I use them all the time on my heating device here without any problem. And we're going to— actually, what I like to do is now that this is melted, We're going to use something to take it off the heat.
Because it's warm. Turn this off. I'm going to set this right here. Okay. Out of the way. We no longer need any heat on there. And I could have taken it off the heat a little sooner because those little specks would have melted all on their own. Well, there you go. Pro tip. All right, so 12 drops of each. One more. There we go. You have to count fast, but you can go much slower than that. The oils— these are thinner oils and they do come out pretty quickly.
So 12 ounces of our Rosemary Chemo Type Camphor. I can just— There, you could see how slow that came. I know, and I can just feel my breathway opening and I just feel just more energized. Just, I just suggest with this. Just to clarify, I think you said 12 ounces. You meant 12 drops. 12 drops. We have 12 drops of our Ravintsara and we have 12 drops of our Rosemary Chemotype Camphor, and now 12 drops of Cardamom.
And Cardamom is going to give it a little bit of a different aroma. Yes. Because it's spicy. Yes. A little bit of a snickerdoodle cookie? A little bit. And then you want to stir it really well to get all of that essential oil dissolved throughout the entire blend. It smells so good. Give it a good stir back and forth and all around.
Mm, and then it solidifies pretty quickly. So in just a little bit, we'll show you what this looks like. Now, your glass jar being on this heat is going to be a little bit hot, so it's a little bit too hot for me to want to comfortably pick up. We'll lightly cap this and we'll just let it set. I love this. So we've got questions coming in hot. We've got over 300 folks who are here. We've got so many great questions. We'll have an opportunity at the end to do some questions. We're going to keep the conversation going in the Natural Living Lab, so if you're not a member, it's free to be a member of the Natural Living Lab.
We'll keep the conversation going and have our— we'll have our community in there engaged in a conversation if you don't get your question answered today. One thing I wanted to point out since I just saw it, so no cool-down period is needed for the volatility of the essential oils. Right. Right. Remember, essential oils are often extracted in extreme heat, so putting them into a blend like this, it's going to be just fine. So the question is, what temperature did I set this at?
There are temperatures— this is on our Aromahead Amazon store. Yes. Because I love it so much. I'll put that link too in the wrap-up post for today. with your code to get your free shipping. If you're international, how to email us to get your $25 gift card, your link to get half off the respiratory course through Aromahead, and I'll put the link to Karen's Amazon list right there. Now why I like this is because I could have put several jars on here at the same time because this whole section heats up, so you don't have to just put one on.
I could have put 3 on here very easily. And if I was doing a, a 1 ounce, which is half the size, I can put several on here at one time, put different oils in each one if I should choose, and they're all melting at the same time. There's different temperatures. There's 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, and 180. That's as far as it goes, and I put it on 180 to get it melted during this event, but I could have easily put it on 160 for sure. There you go.
I am going to, while you do that and talk more, I'm gonna pull up the link. Someone's asking about, is there an explanation of the 50% off course that we're offering, uh, today only? So I'm gonna find that link and then I'll share it with you. So I'm gonna head over to, there's that link. While you're doing that. Yeah, right. Our cardamom now has a terpineol. Acetate. We've talked about linalool acetate in our lavender, and now we're talking about α-terpineol, which also, also an ester that we talked about last week.
So this is a different kind of an ester, but it's still known for its calming properties. It's very calming, it's very relaxing, and we have that 1,8-cineole in it as well. So cardamom is kind of— and I just wrote about this in the ACP course Cardamom is an unusual oil in that it has a balance there. It has clear over here, energizing, clear over here, now we have calming. I love that. Together in one, in one oil.
So it also is very good to help with pain and inflammation and different spasms, eases the tension that we have. So it automatically, as we're working with these, When we say the word ease, it eases. It also eases our emotional realms as well. So if we're feeling a little uptight, a little anxious, these help with that. These help just bring us into balance. This is the, the best Vicks VapoRub you can possibly formulate, as it's just all natural, even more powerful with coming and clearing those airways, helping with that cold and flu.
And then helping your body to heal, right? Right. Now we talked about— have we talked about monoterpenes yet? We have, um, is that coming up? We've been spending more time on the chemical component than the family. So α-pinene. Right, so it's coming up. Okay, α-pinene is coming up. Yes. So just to give you a little preview of apinene, it's in the monoterpene family, which is in the same family as our citrus oils. Our citrus oils have that d-limonene in it. So I won't give too much away on that because it's coming up, but it also is really great for decreasing our pain and inflammation.
So this little salve that we just made, this little chest rub, just from what I'm saying to you, you can see that if you're feeling uptight and anxious, dab a little bit on like you would a perfume on, on different places, give it a whiff. Or if you're feeling like a cold and flu, perfect. Or if you have a sore spot, you over-exercise, it's a great rub to put on that area. So isn't that fantastic that you have— Well, it is fantastic. All this in one little salve.
And to build on this, we created, and we did this workshop, it's on demand. We did it last year, and I believe we did it last year. We do so many workshops, it's hard to keep track. So this Essential Oils for Respiratory Wellness, someone in the chat asked, Can you tell me more about that course since it's half off for the rest of today? And this is a 1.5-hour course, a 90-minute class, and you can enroll now with that link in chat for $29.50. And this is where you can really understand viruses, the basics of how viruses work, and how essential oils are really powerful when it comes to antiviral, when Western medicine has a harder time dealing with that virus.
That's right. I would say there is not an antibiotic for viruses. Right, whereas our essential oils can be antiviral, which is a pretty amazing place to invite them in. So we talk about the art of blending. We look at 5 different essential oil blends that you can blend up both during illness and to prevent any illness happening. We go into more chemistry of these oils that we use in this particular course, different than the oils we have here, some similarity, but additional oils So it's a great lesson-by-lesson look at how to prevent, how
to soothe, how to recover, how to revitalize. We have a special herbal tea PDF just for you to really help with either preventing or getting over illness, and then looking at how that synergy comes together, how each oil amplifies each other in the healing experience. So that is your brief introduction into this 90-minute class, and you have lifetime access when you purchase Today again, it's half off. We thought, well, this is the prize for our 3 homework giveaway winners, why don't we make it half off to anyone who wants to take the class?
So that's a new routine we're getting into. If you appreciate that, we'll do that next week as well. I'm just trying to remember which oils I talked about in this course, and I don't have them listed here, so— Well, I know, and I talked around that so we could look it up later. We do so many workshops all of the time that sometimes it's hard to keep I will. Literally, Karen's done specifically hundreds of hours of workshop content. They're all just so incredible. I will look into that.
So check that out. Um, so Knees, Nerves, Family, the class is 90 minutes and you keep that class, it's lifetime access and it's in your Aromahead.com account. The Aromahead Institute is one of the largest and longest running online aromatherapy schools in the world. We have over half a million students in all of our courses. And about 35,000 aromatherapy certification students and graduates in our program. And it's the coolest. And it's the coolest one ever. So we talk about, in that course, we talk about eucalyptus globulus or radiata, spike lavender, inula.
We talk about cedarwood, which is the Juniperus virginiana, lavender, which is the Lavandula angustifolia, rosemary camphor. We have sweet orange, tea tree, and thyme chemotype linalool. Those are all oils that we work with in that particular workshop. So it adds on to the information that we just barely started to present in Lesson 4. Now remember, all of the content from this 6-week chemistry series is from our aromatherapy certification program, so each lesson takes about 1 to 3 hours depending on if you're just reading or if you're formulating as well.
And our certification program is more robust. It's 235 hours where you're actually able to practice aromatherapy and be a certified aromatherapist at the end of it. So this is just a sampler. Someone was asking, how did you choose these 3 oils for this blend? And it's because they're rich in 1,8-cineole, and we are talking about oxides, and they blend so well together. And you've got to start somewhere. We easily could have chosen 3 others, but these 3 are a wonderful cold and flu chest rub. So for instance, if you don't have Rosemary Camphor, what else can you use?
You could use anything in that Oxide family that is in your course, and you have several different oils that you can choose from. Yes, you could absolutely use Spike Lavender in this blend or in the inhaler as well. So that's the beauty of how this was set up. Just look for one of those other oils in your 1,8-cineole collection. Yeah. Yep. Devin is the voice. I love it. Devin is the voice.
He's been saying I should wear a mic for a while now. I know. Devin should— we need to mic Devin up. Well, we, we do need to mic him up, but he might have a lot to say. Well, that's good. We want to hear what he has to say. That's great. Yeah, I think that would be a great idea. I know. I think you could present if we get somehow delayed. So back to our blend, and this will be all that I'm saying on this, is we also have a kids recipe. Can we look at that recipe really fast?
Let's look at that recipe. And tell them the difference. Um, let's go back to the slides. Here we go. The 1,8-cineole is one that we're careful with for children, especially under the ages of 5. So this— there's a chest rub here that we have created for children that you can start using on them, you know, maybe even like 4 years old, that has different drops in it. Can you say the drops that we have for children? Right here. It's down— oh, sorry.
Down to a 1% blend. Let me get my side of that. I'll say the drops. So it's 4 drops of lavender, It's 3 drops of Ho Wood. You mean just say them out loud? Mm-hmm. Yeah. 3 drops of Blood Orange and 2 drops of Frankincense Sacra. And this is also great for calming the respiratory as well as helping, you know, when you're not feeling well and you're not breathing as you want to and you're stuffy, it also helps to calm us. You know, we had such a wonderful discussion.
Every Monday we've been having Q&As in our Natural Living Lab and anyone can come and attend. It's free to ask questions on the content in the 6-week series. Also, just general questions about aromatherapy and your journey with your essential oils and your questions. We, not this past Monday, but the Monday before, we talked about the legacy of aromatherapy and how we have vintage aromatherapists, we have founders in this industry who really set a solid foundation for all of us with our aromatherapy practice. And for the last 50 years, this body of knowledge has been growing and evolving.
It's constantly changing. And what I love about our courses at Aromahead is we're in there updating all the time when new studies come to light or new best practices happen. So when you have access to the AromaHead courses, you have the most accurate information available, right? It's not just a bunch of books and you're like, well, I'm not sure when this was published and if this is still accurate, or what is the best practice around X, Y, or Z. So we just did a real deep dive this last week because our Aromahead approach with kids and 1,8-cineole is to be very careful with kids, ages 5 and below, right?
That 4 or 5 is, is subjective because some kids are big for their age, some kids are tinier for their age. So when they're, you know, feeling like a full 5-year-old is when we start to recommend using 1,8-cineole carefully with the right dilution. We just did a deep dive because there's some early studies to indicate that we could actually be using 1,8-cineole with younger kids, although there aren't enough studies and there hasn't been enough research for us to change our approach, but it's in the back of our minds to be really paying attention to the science coming out around that.
And as more science and more studies do come out, there's enough evidence that for younger babies, especially 1, 2-year-olds, it's about the olfactory system and it being too much. for them and kind of collapsing the breathing. But we can use them in a diffuser. And for babies up to, you know, maybe a 2-year-old, Mm-hmm. I like to put them in a diffuser, and it's perfectly fine to do this, 2 or 3 drops in a diffuser in a room that they're not in, turn the diffuser off, and then if it's bedtime, then you take your baby or child in there.
At 2 or 3 years old, you can have a diffuser blending in the general household area. And 5 and above, it's just fine for sure. Yes, and Valerie, so all the classes at Aromahead, our online school, are updated constantly. Karen just went in and did a huge update to the aromatherapy certification program, which is pretty cool. It took me a long, very long time. Yeah, so if you are a graduate, you can always go back through and see the changes that we've made, and we'll be sending out more information of what those changes specifically are, but it's even more rich and more full and just more applicable to the times we're in with aromatherapy.
Because all, it changes, right? Right. The needs of a society change and aromatherapy evolves with it. And so we're always in there updating. Yes. It's good to evolve. It's good to keep up on the, on the new things. So any substitute for blood orange? Absolutely. Any of the oranges, sweet orange would be great for that. Mandarin is a good substitute as well. Red or green mandarin. So keep in mind, when you're blending, it all comes down to the intention of your blend and who you're blending for.
That's how you know how to make substitution. So the substitution that you make needs to have a similar function than the oil you're substituting out in terms of the heart, art, and science of aromatherapy. And that is what we love teaching here at the Aromahead Institute. And we start to get into it in this 6-week series. We start to get into it into our live workshops. And the, our paid workshops. We really get into it in full when we dive into our larger foundational courses like our Essential Oil Specialist Program and our Certification Program.
I'm just checking the consistency. Okay, good. It's, it's now very soft and it'll get to a salve consistency. All right. So I want to, we don't have time to go through every slide again. I wanna make sure we have ample time to get to your questions here. Um, so I will again put the slide, uh, deck in right where I usually do, inside of Lesson 4, inside of the, on-demand event replay and PDF section, which is the next— the very— it's— I'll
show you. While you're showing them that, I just wanted to say Ravintsara has a T in it. There is a Ravintsara without the T in it, and it's a completely different oil. So if you're purchasing this from another place, make sure that you have the spelling correctly and the Latin name. Yes, that's important. Yes. So here I am inside of the Natural Living Lab. This community tab is where you have all of— you can start a discussion. Like right up here, I can write something, I can post it, people can weigh in and then discuss.
We have lots of great conversations happening in here. We had just the most wonderful Q&A this past Monday, and one of our members shared with us that she has been really struggling with neuropathy, and she came up with a blend. I believe it was 3 drops juniper berry, 2 drops ginger, 1 drop black pepper, and castor oil. And it really— she put it on at night and those pins and needles on her feet just disappeared. And you can find that recipe and the discussion around that here inside of the Natural Living Club. And so you're able to have discussion around the content we're presenting and working with.
Also just any question you might have about aromatherapy in general. Here in the classroom is where different lessons open each week. We are in Lesson 4. Lesson 5 on A-pinene will open Saturday morning, this coming Saturday morning, and B-caryophyllene will be our last chemical component, and that will open the morning of August So you can deep dive in. This is our 1,8-cineole lesson. Now here, Workshop 4 info and PDFs, this is where I already have the slide deck in there.
That's great. I went ahead and did that so I wouldn't forget. So your slide deck's here, your Lesson 4 workbook, your Lesson 4 content PDF, everything is right here in the classroom. In the calendar is where you can find different events coming up, different workshops, different Q&As. It's really fun to check out if any members are right by you. We have about 2,800 members and— or not 2,800, 7,800 members inside of the Natural Living Lab all over the world. So you can see if there's anyone who is by you. I forgot to do the leaderboard prize giveaway.
I'm so glad I'm just doing this right now. I was gonna ask, but then I didn't know. Thank you, we're doing the leaderboard giveaway. So we do this every week. Let's just do it right now. So we've got our 7-day leaders here inside of the Natural Living Lab. who are all getting $25 to go and shop at aromatics.com. You can use that $25 to apply to shipping. I know Mia's in Spain. I think everyone else is in the US on this list, but a $25 gift card is— will be issued to Alicia, Donna, Angie, Denise, Karen, Mia, Chris, Shelley, Cindy, and Joanna.
Thank you so much for getting in there, encouraging folks, adding to conversations, answering questions, asking questions. It takes a village. to make this incredible community happen. We're very thankful for you. Let's go ahead— Do you want a screenshot of that? I do that, and I don't think I need to. I think Michelle does it while we're live. I do it every week. Devin does it. Devin's putting it on our prize paper right now. I do it every week, and then I'm like, I don't do anything with that screenshot. I think someone else on the team does that. All right, so we have the Natural Living Club.
So this 6-week experience goes for 8 weeks. We'll leave it open for 2 weeks after we conclude. The content will be moved over and live indefinitely inside of the Natural Living Club. It's $4 a month, $29 a year. Well worth it in my humble opinion. So let's go ahead and give our leaders over in the Natural Living Card Club a $25 gift card as well. So Angie, Chris, Richa, Donna, Mia, Shelley, Joanna, Alicia, Wendy, and Catherine, congratulations to all of you and thank you for getting in there and just making this community so extra special.
We really appreciate you. A fun thing that's happening inside of the Natural Living Club right now is we have a thread going with 83 comments. A lot of folks inside of the Natural Living Club and the Natural Living Lab have businesses. They have products or services that they create for sale or for whatever it might be. So this is every now and then inside of the Natural Living Club, I create a post so that they're able to promote what they have going on so we can jump in We can order products, order books, and really support this group of people. So that's pinned to the top over in the Natural Living Club.
And if you want to join, if you have a product or service you would like to put here, just make sure you're in the Natural Living Club and you can pop it right there, and then we can go check it out and support you. And I just want to mention, when you showed the calendar, so our Wednesday live events are always on the YouTube, and then our questions and answers that we do on Mondays are right inside the Natural Living Lab. Um, school place. Yeah, a school place. School place. We love school because it's better than social media.
We thought about doing a Facebook group, but school, there's no ads. You log in, it's just us. It's, it's not as like gimmicky in terms of trying to keep your attention like social media is designed to. Of course, we like social media too, but a lot of folks don't. They want that more grounded, calm experience, and that we thought the school platform did a good job with that. Yes. Yes, for sure. And this is a 2-ounce jar, just to clarify a question here. Okay, so pop in your— is this— I thought it was Teresa. I wanted to say your name. So Teresa said still no neuropathy, and she's been using it every night for a week, which is amazing.
Fantastic. So pop in your questions. We're now in our Q&A portion. And as a reminder, those of you who are live with us, a very special extra free gift for you. We are covering your shipping. So, if you're here, you're able to get your code, which is NLC LIVE, apply that to your cart at checkout, and we'll cover your shipping if you're inside of the US. No minimum order. Those of you outside of the US, you will get a $25 gift card to help offset shipping or duty fees, whatever it might be, on any order over $75.
And that's in your currency, how it calculates. So we are so excited. If you are enjoying these free weekly gifts, pop in a 4 into the chat so we know to keep them coming. And if you have any ideas for us, we don't have it picked out for next week, go ahead and pop in. A member who was here with us last week suggested free shipping, and we're like, free shipping, that's a great idea. So we love hearing your ideas. If you have an idea— Somebody mentioned a 2-ounce glass jar. What a great idea. I like that. Someone said, put that on the list. Put that on the list.
So pop it a 4 if you like these free gifts, and then if you have any suggestions, let us know. Sandra says, if I'm a member, will these classes live in my account? Yes and no. If you are in the Natural Living Club, I'm going to take all of the content from the 6-week series and move it over into the classroom inside of school. So not inside of your Aromad course. But inside of school. If you are in the Natural Living Lab, you have access to this through the 8 weeks. We'll keep this series open.
So, another question? Yes, please. What's the shelf life of the chest rub? So— oh, I'm glad you mentioned that. I wanted to show you the finished product here. So it's still going to harden up a little bit over the next hour or so. But you can see that it's nice and soft. It's still, it's still warm on here. The middle part is still kind of jelly-like. And then, oh, it's just beautiful. I just put it right on my— put it on the back of my neck.
Mm. Give it up when you do that. Smell your— that's part of it, is to smell your hands. Take a nice deep breath. Can I smell your hand? That smells beautiful. So nice. Rub it in. Yes. Here, sometimes I'll put it right on my chest as well. Somebody mentioned there's certain spots on the bottoms of your feet that are the lung areas. Yeah. You can definitely put them on the soft places at the bottom of your feet.
And the shelf life is the shelf life of the shortest ingredient on your— in your list here. So jojoba is over 20 years. Beeswax has to be up there. It lasts forever. Lasts forever. So it would be the shortest shelf life of either rosemary, chemotype camphor, ravintsara, and cardamom. Those are all really similar. We could ask Thymely. And then you have to go by when it was distilled. So I might say that ravintsara has a 3 to 5 year shelf life. But let me look it up really quick.
Well, you know, I might just demo it because sometimes it's nice for folks to see the process of how we look stuff up. So am I over— can you show my screen? I'm going to go into Classroom. I'm going to pull up the recipe here. I'm going to go to This Week's Recipes. I'm going to pull up this specific recipe. I'm going to copy it. I'm going to open up where Thymely Premium lives. It's our own personal assistant inside of the Thriving Aromatherapist. I'm going to go to Thymely Aromatherapist, and I'm going to say, what is the shelf life of this blend?
I'm going to paste it in and see what Thymely has to say. And of course, we can go and look at the, um, inside of our AromaHead courses. Of course, we can look at the GCMS reports and the product descriptions inside of aromatics.com. But what I love about the Thymely Aromatherapist is that it's all of our information over the last 30 years we've put into Thymely, and it can search it. So it goes through and does an example. So our jojoba, is highly stable, and it's typically 5 years or more, although it can be 20 years or more.
This is a conservative estimate because we want everyone to have a safe experience. Beeswax can often last 3 to 5 years. And then the essential oils, these all have a 3 to 5 year shelf life based on their composition and how you keep track. So the chest rub would be about 3 years. Right. So it could be longer than 3 years too, depending on how it's stored. Ravintsara itself has a 4, about a 4 year shelf life. And that's probably the least amount, the one with the least amount of shelf life.
In it. So you have to kind of— I can ask you. Be a little bit of a detective when you're trying to figure out the shelf life of your product. Right. Because you have to know when they were each distilled. Yes, exactly. So that's demoing Thymely for you. I hope that's fun. We've been having so much fun. I've been using Thymely to create all of our content inside of the 6-week series. I've been able to create content so much faster. and create this series so much easier. Along with Karen, we're writing and editing in there and just double-checking since Thymely is in beta mode, double-checking everything.
So it's been really fun to work with Thymely to just create content that you're hopefully enjoying and learning from. It's very important to label your product. Don't forget that very important step because if you start making product, and even if you make one product and you set it off to the shelf and you find it one day and you think, oh, I forgot all about this, you don't know what's in it. You can't remember when you actually made that. So it's really important to label everything, even if it's a handwritten little label that you tape on, just so that you know what you've done and when you've done it and what's in it.
So we've got a question that we've often grappled with. I have a grandchild— this is from Sharon— I have a grandchild turning 3 in November. Would you suggest waiting until next year to share this chest blend? We've grappled with this too because we've got my nephew Roscoe who just turned 5, my niece Madi who just turned 2, and we know that when they're in such distress, they're so sick, that that's when you need to make a judgment call. And we make our own judgment calls. Sometimes we do things a little different than we teach because we want you to have the safest experience possible with essential oils.
So I'll let Karen answer, continue to answer that question, but it's a gray area. That's why we just make sure to give conservative guidelines around kids and essential oils with this. So for kids, for a 3-year-old, and is he a small 3-year-old? Right. Is he a larger 3-year-old? And that's why there's so many other oils that do the same thing that are great for kids. So I would simply use the other recipe that we have. Right, for kids. For kids. Yeah. So when you make this, you could put it into a little 1-ounce jar.
You can have 2 little 1-ounce jars, make one for him, One for the adult. Well, and you know, it comes down to just common sense, being careful, doing a patch test, making sure they're having a good experience. I feel as though the cold and flu syrups and different Vicks VapoRub we're putting on kids anyway, I would prefer to do this even though our recommendations are to wait until they're 5. This is where you got to make your own judgment call. But at any rate, you would put A lot less drops in for a child.
A child, for a 5-year-old, we can start 5 to 6 drops. If you're considering a blend for a 3-year-old, I would only put 2 or 3 drops of my total blend in for that young of a child. Yes. I know, I always think Thymely too when Thymely gives me information. Even though Thymely doesn't have emotions, I think Thymely. So Thymely is our own information. Yeah. That we have put in over all these years from our courses, from our blogs, from live events that we have done.
It all goes into our Thymely. It goes into our personal assistant and that's where it searches. So it doesn't search the general web. It only searches the information we put in, which makes it very safe and we feel so good about it. It is in beta mode. Occasionally we're like, Thymely, are you sure? And we ask it and it's like, oh, let me check on that. So that's our caveat, but 99%, and I actually haven't found any misinformation on Thymely yet. So to sign up for the course that we're talking about, Mina, can you pop that in one more time?
The course link for our Respiratory Wellness. Yes. And that's what you click to get your discounted price on the workshop. Yes. I think we've done it. We've done it. So I'll pop in and over here I'll show you where I'm going to go. I'll be inside of the Natural Living Lab. I will take away this little secret post. I let everyone know early what the free gift was for our live event today in case— we do have so many international customers who have a hard time ordering because shipping fees and duties are so high, so we wanted— I wanted to make sure you knew ahead of time what the free gift was.
I didn't want anyone to miss out. So I'm going to go ahead and put a post right here. Oh good, Neuropathy Buster— I'm gonna like this— is trending, so that's up there towards the top. I'm gonna pop it in right here. I'll pop in your link to get 50% off that respiratory essential oil workshop. I'll pop in the code to get 50%— or not 50% off— to get free shipping for US customers, no minimum order. Don't forget, you will get a free 5 ml Ravintsara on any order over $40, no matter where you are in the world.
our international customers. If you're here and you're taking advantage of that, we would love to know that too. We'll give you a $25 gift card to help offset shipping fees for you. I think that's all the links I need. A link to your tea warmer. These 2-ounce glass jars are at aromatics.com. Yep. Our store. This is where we've been sourcing for over 20 years. Karen specifically, we have distillers and producers in over 60 different countries with really good relationships with all of them, and they're wonderful people. Just really cool.
Every story is unique in terms of the farm and the setup and the people, the co-ops, the families. It's just a great— it's a great supply chain to support. It is. All right, everyone, thank you so much. Let's keep the conversation going over inside of the Natural Living Lab, and we will see you. Our next thing we're doing is our live Q&A this coming Monday. A link to how to find that is in the Natural Living Lab. Under the calendar tab and just click on the 10th of August, and it will take you to our Lesson 4 Q&A.
Which is right there in the school platform. I'm gonna hop up and go smell the lavender that's distilling out there. I can't wait, and we will see you next time. Bye for now!
