Like… what is that about?
(Intro)
As this podcast has grown, I realized God has called me to specifically serve Christian women over 50 navigating Grief, Transition, Healing, and Purpose all while walking in Faith this next season of life.
So, without further ado, welcome to Chistian Women Over50 in Transition Podcast. I pray you’ll continue this journey with us.
Why do we need people to approve of us… acknowledge us… choose us… agree with us… to feel valuable?
Why does rejection hurt so deeply?
Why do we sometimes feel incomplete unless someone else makes us feel whole?
I think a lot of us have been searching for people to give us something only God can give.
Because the truth is:
We look to others to make us whole…
when God already said in Him, we are complete.
(Music)
You Are Already Complete in Christ
Everything Jesus did on the cross was to make us whole.
Complete.
Restored.
Accepted.
It’s already done.
Jesus already paid the price.
And so much of the Christian walk is learning to believe what God already said about us… and then learning how to walk in it.
The Bible says in:
Colossians 2:10
“And in Christ you have been brought to fullness…”
Another version says:
“You are complete in Him.”
That means your worth is not waiting on:
• A relationship
• Attention
• Approval
• Recognition
• Validation from people
You are already complete in Christ.
But so many of us live like we’re still missing something.
Looking to People for What Only God Can Give
When you don’t fully understand who you are in Christ…
You start looking to people to tell you who you are.
And that becomes exhausting.
Because people are inconsistent.
One day they support you.
One day they don’t.
One day they understand you.
One day they misunderstand you.
And if your identity is tied to people…
Your emotions will constantly go up and down based on how people respond to you.
But God never intended for people to carry the weight of validating you.
That’s His role.
Galatians 1:10
“Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?”
That question hits deeply.
Because sometimes we can become so focused on being accepted by people…
that we lose sight of already being accepted by God.
God Already Validated You
God already validated you in Him.
Think about that.
Before you accomplished anything…
Before you proved yourself…
Before people accepted you…
God already chose you.
The Bible says in:
Isaiah 43:1
“I have called you by name; you are Mine.”
He called you by name.
He separated you for purpose.
He gave you:
• Identity
• Purpose
• Gifts
• An assignment
You were created intentionally.
God made each of us uniquely different so we could reach people in the areas He assigned us to.
There are people connected to your voice.
Your story.
Your experiences.
And sometimes while we’re busy comparing ourselves to others…
we miss the assignment attached to our own life.
Your Assignment Is Discovered in the Journey
I truly believe this:
In your journey, your assignment is discovered.
Sometimes we want God to show us the whole picture immediately.
But purpose is often revealed while you’re walking with Him.
While you’re healing.
Growing.
Learning obedience.
And the more secure you become in who God says you are…
The less you need people to constantly confirm your value.
Stop Making This Harder Than It Has to Be
Honestly…
I think sometimes we make this Christian walk harder than it has to be.
It all goes back to knowing the Word of God.
We are born again.
This is our new life now.
And if this is our new life…
Then we have to study this new life to know how to live it.
Transformation doesn’t happen accidentally.
You renew your mind through the Word of God.
Through prayer.
Through spending time with Him.
We Make Time for What We Truly Want
And let’s be real for a second…
We make time for the things we truly want to do.
We know exercise is good for us…
But sometimes we choose to sit on the couch and watch TV instead.
And spiritually, we can do the same thing.
We know spending time with God strengthens us.
We know the Word renews our mind.
We know prayer changes us.
But sometimes we neglect the very things that would help us grow.
And then we wonder why we still feel empty.
Matthew 4:4
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
We cannot spiritually survive disconnected from God’s truth.
Look to Christ to Complete You
People cannot complete you.
Christ does.
Relationships are blessings.
Friendships are blessings.
But no human being was designed to carry the pressure of becoming your identity.
That’s why people will eventually disappoint you.
But Jesus never changes.
And the closer you grow to Him…
The more whole you become.
Not because you earned it.
But because He already finished the work.
Closing Encouragement
So, if you’ve been searching for validation from people…
Hear this:
You do not have to chase worth that God already gave you.
