Speaker 1:Number seven, Michigan State squanders opportunity against number four Duke. In East Lansing, Michigan State stampeded to the under 12 time out with a forty five forty lead after freshman Jordan Scott made back to back three pointers. The Breslin Centre was buzzing, but it ended up being the last time the Spartans had any momentum As do climbed back in crunch time to steal a win on the road. Spartans guard, Jamie Fears junior, had a game high 13 assists, but he was zero for 10 from the field and missed crucial looks that would have given MSU an edge. Despite the poor shooting performance.
Speaker 1:Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo thought his game lead guard had played well. He didn't shoot it well, but I am so proud. He was so good again. Suggesting things that worked, Izzo said. MSC receives record breaking 401,000,000 commitment.
Speaker 1:Michigan State University and Spartan Athletics unveiled a landmark moment Thursday announcing a transformational 401,000,000 gift from Greg and Don Williams of Akershire. The donation made through MSU's Uncommon Will Far Better World campaign in support of the ForSparta initiative marks one of the largest philanthropic commitments in collegiate athletics history. This is the largest single commitment in MSU's history and one of the biggest individual donations in college athletics. Of the total gift, 290,000,000 will support for the Sparta initiative, 100,000,000 will go to Spartan Ventures, NIL Fund, and 11,000,000 will be directed towards university academics. Number three, MSU hockey responds to split series against number one Michigan.
Speaker 1:Despite a crowd of maze blue, the Spartans look like themselves. After a shutout on home ice, number three Michigan State hockey looked to split up its series against number one Michigan. From the drop of the puck, the Spartans were offensively determined despite trailing one o just as the night before. MSU stuck with its game to earn a three one victory in enemy territory. Under Nightingale, the Spartans have a eight a o record against Michigan, continuing their practice of splitting the rivalry series.
Speaker 1:With the win, the Spartans move twelve four o overall in five three o in Big Ten play. The team will have a three week break before competing in the Great Lakes Invitational, its first contest against Ferris State on Sunday, December 28. Puck drop is set for 7PM eastern. MSC professor returns to Jeopardy for a second chance. In July 2025, Michigan State University's interim director of film studies, Pete Johnston, competed on Jeopardy for the first time.
Speaker 1:Now he's back again for another shot at first place. Growing up in a large family, Pete Johnston has always loved Jeopardy. We watched it growing up as a household. My seven brothers and sisters and I and my parents, we would always tune in and try to get the answers, Pete Johnston said. His love for the game show eventually led him to apply to be a contestant.
Speaker 1:I think in 2018, 2019 was maybe the first time I took it. And I just started taking it every year. Just, you know, trying to figure it out if I was getting better or worse, Pete Johnston said. Eventually, after passing three rounds of the audition earlier this year, he received an invitation to appear on the show. The twenty twenty five Jeopardy second chance tournament will begin to air on Monday, December 15 with Pete Johnston appearing as one of the contestants on Wednesday, December 17.
