Full show transcript:

Today, in today's times, like you could walk into anybody's house and see uh like a plethora of TVs. Like there's uh four, at least probably four TVs in in every household.

I would at least one. I'd I'd assume there's at least one. Okay. That wasn't necessarily always the case back in the 50s and 60s.

Well, even in the 80s, when I was young, we had one TV in our house.

So you're saying it's more likely that there's multiple TVs now. Correct. I think it's definitely gonna depend on a person's situation. Like I know, like in this building, for example. We have uh guy down the hall, he rents an apartment, he has one TV. Okay, but he has a computer as well.

Okay, you're that's fair. That's uh my point is when I was when I was younger, we had one TV in our whole house. Yeah, and everybody had to share. Yes, correct. And when it became time for the five o'clock news, the news would have to come on no matter what anybody was watching, we'd have to watch the news, and then right after the news was a show called MASH. Oh, nice that my dad watched.

I can hear the helicopter and the music right now in my head.

And my mom often worked nights, and so when the news came on and then mash came on, I kind of knew that my mom was gonna be leaving for work, and I didn't like it when my mom left for work, and I didn't like mash. I thought it was boring. Have you watched MASH? No. As an adult.

But I think you should give it a go. You might actually be like, actually, this show's got it going on. It's funny, it's got it's a medical show. You could call it medical training for when you're a field medic.

Alan, all that I really like him. Okay, so it was set during the Korean War. Yes, and the TV show lasted almost four times longer than the actual Korean war itself. How about that? MASH lasted 11 years, and the Korean war lasted three. Well, it's a little mash fun fact. Yeah. That's neat. I'll have to tell my dad that.

Yeah, did you know? And he'll go, actually, I did know.

Yeah, you probably will. He'll be like, oh yeah. And then he'll go on and on and on about the Korean war, and I'll say, I shouldn't have brought us up.

I have an encyclopedia right over here. I'll read you all about it. Did you know? This colonel, and you go, Oh, what have I done?

What have I done?

But also, let's talk about mash. Did you know? Radar. Thanks, Dad. Yeah. Why'd you bring it up? That's like bringing up the uh motorcycle accident or uh the smoking thing. How he smoked for a hundred years and then he quit. You know, you know the stories.

I do. They're all the same. That's funny. Well, no mash, no five o'clock news. It's not how we roll. Plus, we have enough TVs, you can watch whatever you want.

I know. With captions on. Yay! Uh yeah. don't I like to read the TV. That's just me. That's me. Should we get to today's show?

Let's do it. Oh. Smells like a Friday. Do Yeah. You smell that? Uh smells like uh like rain last night leading into a Friday. I had to uh turn on my heat defroster. Yeah.

Oh yeah, me too. Oh yeah.

North Dakota. What why did you a little bit of cold and suddenly you're from Fargo?

Yeah. Oh yeah. it feels. From the Arctic when it gets a little bit chilly outside.

Arctic, North Dakota. Uh that was a surprise.

It was a surprise. And I turned it on, and then I got a little nervous as I was driving, like, I should probably pull over. Oh, you couldn't see? No. Oh.

I could see because I had my wipers going also. Well, I did too, but

it's still mine was like frosted, not frosted, but foggy on the inside. Oh, you had inside fog. And so then I had to do that wipe, and I was like, I don't want to do that wipe because then I get my oily fingers all over my window, and then they'll never go away. You need that thing. I know. I told you months ago. I have that thing. Yeah, I know. I also know that.

Why are you salty about the thing?

Because when I said I want to get that thing, you go, we don't need that thing. And I go, No, it's cool.

You can just put a cloth on a stick. It's the same thing. Yeah, that's what you said. And so then I was shopping somewhere and I found it for like 80 cents. And I said, hey, this thing's cool. And I got that thing in my truck. Mad at you. Why?

Because I wanted to get it, and you made fun of me and said you don't need that thing. And then you're like, hmm, this thing is cool. You can have it. Well, I don't want it now. What? You don't want your I don't want yours. You know what?

Your used thing. Yeah. We've only called it the thing. It's basically a microcloth on a stick. That's what it is. And you use it to wipe the inside of your windshield.

Yeah. And it it like adjusts to an angle. So when you when you slide it, it, you know, you get it. It doesn't hurt your arm. Correct. It's telescoping. Uh no, it just folds up. No, it's telescopic. No. But it is.

No. The one I saw was. Well, the one I have isn't. Well I have folds up. Cool. You got a lame one. No wonder it was 80 cents. Yeah.

It's barely worth the 80 cents I paid for it. But I have one. And I and I this morning you could have used it. Or I really could have. I didn't have inside uh fog. I only had outside condensation and the wipers would wipe it away, but then it was like uh hard to see through. I wonder what people with garages think about this conversation. Because they're like, what are you talking about? I have a garage. I have a garage. Two car garage.

Sometimes I have a three-car garage. I have a shop in the back. Oh, do you? Oh, you're so rich. Mmm. Yeah.

I had to use my defrost this morning. Me too. People with garages are still like, summer's still here. I didn't have to park in a parking lot and come out with snow on it.

Anyway. Good morning. Hi Friday.

How are you? Stoked. Extoked. You ever wonder uh what happens to unclaimed baggage at the airport? Uh no. I've never wondered that. Do you wonder it now?

Yes. Well, I don't know what every airport does, but I know that the Tampa International Airport is uh no longer discarding bags left behind at baggage claim after 30 days. Instead, they uh partnered with Hillsborough County Children's Services and created a program called Duffels of Dignity. And what they do is they donate uh this last year, 238 suitcases, backpacks, strollers, and car seats to this program to make sure that kids entering the foster care system have a sense of dignity and know that they are valued during a tough transition. So they're donating these unclaimed bags to foster kids in this program, which is really cool.

It is cool. Uh it started as kind of a one-time trial last year and officially became an annual transition with double the uh annual tradition, uh, with double the amount of luggage donated this year. So that's pretty incredible. It is cool. Uh and now they have a a way to keep their own belongings and and those kinds of things uh together when they're moving around and stuff, which I think is just phenomenal. So uh that is a cool program.

That is a very cool program instead of the foster kids having you know garbage sacks or exactly. I like that. Yeah, that's nice.

Yep, I really think that's a that's a really cool idea. So way to go, Tampa. Uh the program's called Duffels of Dignity, if you'd like to find out more. And that's good news. I learned something last night.

What'd you learn? Well, I was having a very uncomfortable night's sleep. I was tossing and turning. I was having a hard time breathing. I had my mask on. Things were not going well for you.

Yeah. You were snoring, and I said, Hey, you need to put on your mask. Yeah. And you were snoring again, and I said, Hey, again, you need to put on your mask. Yeah, so I did. And you were still snoring in your mask. Yeah, you know why? Why? Forgot to hit the on button. You were you've been struggling this time.

I know. Well, I was in the mountains for so many days sleeping on the ground that it that became the norm, and I just haven't adjusted back yet to like a routine. I've been like I take my night pills because I'm an old man. So I take my night pills, and then I get in the bed and I'm like, all right, good night. And then just have a rough time sleeping.

And then a jostle here and a jostle there.

Here a jostle there, a jostle everywhere. Yeah, I know. So what thing did you learn? I you gotta turn it on. Oh. Yeah. You can't just put on the mask. You know that I did

uh jostle you a few times and said, Hey, you're still snoring. No, nothing happened.

No, I I was like, why am I having a hard time with this? Like it feels hard to breathe. And I'm like, what is up? And so then I went, is it even on? And I hit the button and watched it turn on, and I went, yeah, that's what time did you do that? I have no clue.

Because it was you were snoring with your mask on for quite a while. Yeah. That's why.

I was fighting for my life in that thing. You gotta turn it on. You can't just put the mask on. You also have to turn the machine on. And that's an important step that I forgot until the middle of the night. Then I slept great. Whoopsie daisy. Yeah. Whoopsie. It's two parts to it. Put on the mask, and then also press the button on the back.

Okay, you gotta remember to put it on. That's the first step because Yeah.

Now it does have a setting that I turned off. I disabled, uh, where it'll do an automatic start and stop thing. I didn't want it to do the auto off, and I don't think they're like independent. Like it's an auto on off.

Where you put it on, you put the mask on, and it senses that you're breathing. And it'll automatically do that. Do that.

But I don't want the auto off part because if I have an event, uh an apnea event, they call it, and uh, and then it turns off. I'm gonna go like I did last night. I'm drowning.

Oh my air. You know? You know, need it.

So I didn't, I don't use that setting, but uh as long as I have had it, I've remembered to hit the button. This is the first time I've forgotten to hit the button. I must have been real tired. I feel like that's a lie.

Because I feel like there's been times where you've worn it before and you've been snoring while you've been wearing it. Now, whether or not that's because you forgot to hit the on button is something I don't know, but there have been times where you've been wearing it and he's still snoring.

Like I thought maybe there was a kink in the hose. I was like trying, I was trying to troubleshoot this thing with half open eyeballs in the middle of the night, going, what is going on? Something's not right. And I've never had that kind of a feeling before. So that's new.

Um we had been watching The Roof Man. Yeah, I finished it. I did too. Did you? Yeah. We watched it the night before last. Yeah. And I had fallen asleep, but it was so quiet, and I kept waiting for you to fall asleep. I kept looking over, like, is he asleep yet? So I could turn on captions, but you never fell asleep. You watched the whole thing. Yeah, that's the thing about it.

So then what? No, go ahead. So then last night I needed to finish it, turned it on, and I was like, I'm watching captions because you've already finished it. Okay. And then you fell asleep and snored, and I went, good thing I have captions on.

Good thing.

Can't hear anything in this chaos. Put on your mask. Kick. Kick. Put on. Put on a mask. So I had a rough night. Turn on your mask.

Yeah, put it on and turn it on. You didn't turn on your mask. I don't know why you talk like that. It's silly voice you use. Put it on. It's my cranky. Put on your mask. I gotta go to bed.

I need the captions. I gotta read the TV. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, I learned a new thing. I'll be better, hopefully, tonight. Things will things will go smoothly. We'll see. We'll see. Yeah, we'll see. Okay. Put on your mask.

Who do you think the hottest NFL coach is?

Like as in they're like really good at their job. They're super hot. No, no. They are the hottest. They are everybody's talking about them. They are on fire as a coach. No. I don't have an answer to this question, but it sounds like you do.

There is a survey going around. Is there? Yeah, of course there is. And they gave the top five.

And uh do you agree?

Um yes and no. Let me see. Andy Reed is number one.

No, he is not. Andy Reed's mustache is number one. He's on the list.

Andy Reed is not on the list.

He is on the list. I just Googled top five hottest NFL coaches. He is number five.

That is not the list I'm looking at.

A surprise fan favorite staple in top five lists celebrated for his comforting steady presence and iconic Hawaiian shirts. No. Number five.

That's not on my list. Number five on my list is Kevin Stefansky, who is the Falcons coach. He is not on this list. No. No. meh.

Okay. I'm going to tell you here's here's a couple that I know are probably on your list. Okay, go. Dan Campbell, you call rough and tumble from the Detroit Lions.

I love Dan Campbell. Is he uh on my hot list?

Either he's number three on this list.

He's not on my what list are you on? I told you. Go ahead. He's not on my list that I'm looking at online, but he's also not on my personal list.

But it says brings a rugged high intensity presence that captures plenty of fan attention.

I do love Dan Campbell. He is my rough and tumble coach. That's right. I don't know why I call him that. He just looks like a rough and tumble guy. He looks like a guy who means business. Okay. Okay. Who else is on your list?

Matt LaFleur from Green Bay.

Matt LaFleur is probably, if I had to pick, he would be my number one pick. Really? Or hottest coach. Over Sean McVay. Yeah, Sean McVay is too teethy. He's too teethy. He's too pretty.

Sean McVay is number one on this list. Matt LaFleur is number two. Dan Campbell's number three. Nick Serrani from the Philadelphia Eagles is number four.

Oh, I forgot about Nick

Cerani. And then Andy Reed is number five. What list?

Are you on? Yeah, I don't mind a Nick Serrani. Yeah. I have my list. This is my the internet list. Sean McFay is one. Yeah. Matt LaFleur is number two. Mike McDaniel. Oh, okay. Boy, who he's not even the coach anymore. Right. But Mike McDonald is a coach. Yeah. And he's on a list.

I did like that. He's on a list. Well, I've seen a couple of different lists. And Demico Ryans, who is, yeah, cute. Where's he from? He is from the Texans.

Who's the Panthers head coach? I don't know. You better look him up. Okay, why? Because. Here's what I think is funny.

As I'm a middle-aged woman, I go, the coaches. Yeah. It's not even about the players. I guess who's who's wearing that headset? That's the whole look, isn't it? It's a vibe.

I mean, several of them wear the headset. And then when they talk with their

paper covering their mouth, you're like, oh yeah, wow.

What are you with are you whispering? secrets? Okay. Panthers head coach is Dave Canales. Okay. He's cute. He is cute. He's got a cute little smile. I knew you'd be into him. Yeah, he's got a cute little smile.

I knew you'd be into him. I am into him. Yeah. Great. Great. What? I can't compete with some of this stuff. And no football coach.

Just put on a headset. No.

Then you'll be like, oh no. Now you just need tatinos and a video game controller.

That's what you look like with a headset on. Put a headset on. Get some papers. It looks like you're whispering private things. Uh-huh. And then you got to put your hand down by your hip like you're turning on your headset like and then get like really mad and start pacing back and forth like something serious just happened. Oh man. That's all that you need. That's it. Okay. Well. And start shouting at the field. That's all. Start shouting at the field. Yeah.

You grow grass. Yeah. See? With your headset. Yeah. And my paper over here, pointing and yelling at the campaign.

You can't do both at the same time. It's a paper hiding your face. Yeah. Or pointing and yelling at the grass. Like two separate.

And pacing and throwing my clipboard. Yeah. And yelling at people. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. No, I'm not cut out for that. I'm more of a sit around, talk on a microphone, push some buttons kind of guy.

You know who did not make this list? My old KOC. Kevin O'Connell. Oh. It's all right, Kev.

You know who also didn't make the list of uh all-time hottest coaches? Who's that? Bill Belichick. Ugh.

Why would you even bring up his name on a Friday? Billy. Is there a better day? Okay, well, they did put out, hold on, because they did put out a college football. Uh football. Oh, this is not. I thought it was like hottest coaches, but it's it's coaches that are in the hot seat. That's what I'm saying. And he is number one.

Yeah, because he could be cut any minute. Cut him. Why do you still have him? Because he's Bill Belichick.

Uh I'm gonna say I was gonna say something, but that kits mad when I say it. So I don't want to make anybody mad on a Friday. Okay.

Well, thank you for sharing your hot coach list.

No, I'm gonna keep watching the Panthers. I knew That one caught me unawares. Yeah. I might be a Panthers fan. Stop it. You are an early packer. Whenever we go anywhere, you're like packed a week before we are ready to go.

I try to, for sure.

Me and the kids are last minute packers, where it's like we've got 10 minutes to be where we need to go. Load it load our stuff in. I'm not that bad. I think Beck is probably like a last minute.

Oh, yeah. He's like, oh, I don't forgot we were going.

But me and Emory, we are last minute, but not last minute. Yeah. She got packed for our weekend last night. And that's unheard of. It is very strange.

She said she's very excited. She's very excited. Yeah. We're going to a concert that is a band that she enjoys. This is a this is like everybody's loading up to go see her band. Yes. Uh, which is a unique experience because normally it's like you and I have a band and we got tickets.

Let's go, you know, you can tag along and go watch the show we want to see. Right. It's not a, I guess, totally unheard of. We have seen bands that we all enjoy. Uh, but this would be one where it's I don't know anything about this band.

I don't know anything about this band. But this is her thing. Yeah. And it's a it's a band, and they're a touring band. Yeah. The band is called Riffwood. I would compare them to a very young green day. They're baby Green Day. Yeah.

They're from Salt Lake. Are they? Yeah. This is their homecoming show. It's the end of their tour. It's the last show of their tour in their hometown. It's gonna be crazy.

It is gonna be crazy. Yeah. Oh no. Yeah.

It's gonna be a packed show. Standing room only. Yeah.

They are the band members are all 16, 17 year olds. Correct. We told our son, hey, we're gonna stand in the back. You get her to the front. Like she really wants to get to the front of the store.

Take her to the mosh pit. Put her in the thing.

He's an expert concert goer. He goes all the time to these rock shows where they have the pit of despairs. What are they called? That's it.

Get in the pit of despair.

Smooth. No circle. They're called circle pits, right?

There's several different names for what happens in the pit, but it's just

the he goes to like heavy, heavy, heavy.

Yeah, he goes to these crazy rock shows.

So we're like, you gotta get her. Your job is to take her to the States. I don't think it's gonna be tough. I don't know, Josh. I think it might. Anyway, she's packed and ready to go. She's pretty stoked. One, she's pretty.

Did she pick out her concert outfit and everything? I think so. I don't know.

I was kind of preoccupied last night, but she did come out with a necklace that has the name of the band on it. And she said, which chain do you think would look better?

She asked me as well. And I said, I like the dark chain, but do whatever you want. And she goes, like that's the wrong answer.

It was because I told her the other chain.

I said, do what you want. That's the answer. I don't have a preference. Wear whatever chain you want. You're overthinking the chain. It's a dark venue.

She also told me that she's excited to go to Utah because she hasn't been all year. Oh man. You and Dad have gone at least three times, and I haven't gone yet. We typically go to Utah. That's where we travel to go see live shows.

Sure. And you and I have gone to Utah to see. God, I think we've been there three different. I think we've seen three different shows there. Yeah. This year. So she was giving me the third degree.

You don't even take me along.

And she was like, can we please stay in a hotel? I like staying in a hotel. We're staying in a hotel. Or staying at a hotel.

I told her she doesn't like to stay in hotels that have doors on the outside. She likes inside doors in a hallway. And so you said where we're staying, and I said, it has doors on the outside, like you like. And she goes, and then and then she asked, should I bring my swimsuit? No, the pool's dried up. They closed it. She's gonna be so distraught.

She is excited. She's ready to go. She kept asking me, what time are we leaving? What time are we gonna go? I go, I don't know. I haven't really planned it out yet. What time do you want to go? I was thinking early, like seven or eight. I go, seven or eight. Our show is a little

bit. We can't check into the hotel until three.

She wants to do some school shopping.

Oh, is that it? Yep. That's it. Because there's all these stores that they have that we don't have. She wants to get down there and do her fashions.

So it's school shopping, the hotel, swimming, and the band. Right. Not necessarily in that order.

Yeah, in no particular order. She's just a good thing. These are the priorities. That's why she packed yesterday. She said, I will be ready to go. She's pretty stoked. Okay. All right. I haven't packed yet. Me neither. I guess I'm going to go to the

house. I still have to do laundry.

I know. I was gonna do that when I got home. The laundry basket's full, and I looked at it and went, I need laundry out of there. I need laundry out of there too. I'll do that when I get home. Put it on my chore list. Thanks, Josh. It'll be done before you get home. We'll see. I get home I get home early today. Oh, yeah, you do. It's Friday. Yeah. It won't be done before you get home.

Do Um, do you ever have days where you're like, you go to bed and you go, I didn't do anything when I got home from work. Just kind of loafed around.

No, you did not have that day yesterday.

No, dude, I killed it yesterday.

I heard you last night at the end of the night. Like I it got to be like 10 20, 10 30. I'm like, I am beat. I gotta go to bed.

Yeah, you did something like that. And you're still up, hey, you don't even know. You don't know what I've been up to. But the point is, you were still up working on stuff. You were making brownies, you were you uh cooked dinner, you like you were like on fire. And I heard you talking to our daughter at the end of the night, going, I did this, and I did this, and I like you were you were all listing off the things that you had done and the things you still had yet to do. And I'm like, this is I'm going to bed.

I felt I felt accomplished. You got to just drumming.

Yeah, you had all that. I told Emory I go, because she came to tell me goodnight. She goes, I think the dog's ready to go to bed because it was it was late, later than our bedtime. Yeah. And the dog was just kind of standing there tired at like 10 30. I'm like, you don't have to wait for me. Go to bed, dog.

No way. The house is a good thing. If she was like, There's music still on, there's lights.

So Emery came to tell me goodnight, and she was like, I go, Emory, I killed it. I killed it today. I I have this tendency where I come home from work and you just kind of want to decompress. And so you just sit down and you just start doom scrolling. And I hate that that's the way that I spend a lot of my time.

And so I'm trying to actively do stuff so that I don't just sit and scroll mindlessly. And so I got home yesterday. I did you were laying on the bed, you were lounging when you got home. When I got home.

And so then because I had been out in the garden. I had been harvesting. Yeah. I'd been tending the garden, pulling some weeds, doing some stuff out there.

So I just laid down with you for a minute, and then I got up and I cooked dinner, and then I practiced my drum lesson, and then I made two batches of zucchini brownies. Yeah, after dinner. Because you had a lot of zucchini, and I said, Well, this isn't gonna make itself. And I didn't want it to go bad. Right. So rolled my sleeves up and I started baking. And I made a mess of the kitchen.

And then you felt like you had to clean that up. Well, yeah. Well, I'm just saying, like you could have left it and done that today, or could have left that and had the kids do that today because they're both home.

I could have, but I also just don't like waking up to a mess. Right. I like waking up in the kitchen. I do know that about you. But I felt accomplished. You should. You did a lot. Great. And then I went to sleep. And it felt great. Yeah. Yeah.

Uh two different times yesterday. I was leaving, and I had given a hug to our daughter, and I said, Hey, I'm going back to work, you know, after lunch or whatever. And she was like, okay, good night. And I went, what? And then we had an errand to run last night. We're leaving and our son was sitting on the couch watching the football game, and we went, All right, we'll be back in a little bit. And he goes, Okay, good night. I went, what is going on in this place? People need to sleep more.

They can't even get it together about what time of day it is. It's like if you're on the phone with somebody and you say, K, love you. Okay, love you bye. Like it's just routine. Yeah, it's just habit.

Like we were walking out the front door, he's sitting on the couch in the living room, goes, Okay, good night. All right. It's like when you call your teacher mom. Oh. Yeah.

How embarrassing. No, it's just habit. Yeah. Anyway.

Don't get used to that kind of accomplishment. I thought you'd be like, when do we get cinnamon rolls? No, I was a little bit like kids were asking, what's for dinner?

And I go, I don't, you guys are old. Figure it out. And Emory was cranky because she was hungry. I was getting a little cranky because I was hungry and it looked like nobody was gonna be making dinner. So I said, I guess I gotta make dinner. I helped.

I helped get out things and and prepare things and move things around. I took out the garbage. I took the the uh what's it called? The compost out to the compost. Like I did all the things too. I helped. I helped. I did at least 40. 42, maybe. Not quite 50, but definitely in the 40s.

I did uh I did a drum lesson in there too. Yeah, I know. I'm trying to get a lesson in every day. Yeah. It's hard.

It is. You gotta you gotta do it. You gotta you gotta keep up on it.

Learning a new skill is tricky. Business. And so then I said, I need some chocolate.

Yeah, make these brownies.

Brownies. Did you get your chocolate fix? Yeah, I did.

Did you just eat the frosting, or what did you what'd you do? Don't worry about it. Okay. That's a yes. I was at my other job

the other day, and I had to prepare um a cash box. Okay. I had to prepare it for another coworker. And when I was finished, I said, Here's your cash box. Here it is. I just did that.

You did that. Yes. You did a little sing song.

Yeah, and she goes on. She kind of chuckled and she goes, You should just sing everything. I go, I do. Yeah, you do.

You sing everything all day. I've I've lived with you a lot of years. And I know.

I do it on the radio. I'm sure everyone takes it.

No, no. No. One time, uh years and years and years ago. This is 20 some odd years ago. Uh, because I've been doing this business for a long time. Uh, you were helping with some billing stuff, and you were helping stuff envelopes. Yep. And uh every advertiser had uh like a this was before paperless billing.

This is how this is 20 years ago. And you would trifold them and put them in an envelope, and as you were doing that, you gave companies jingles that didn't have them. Oh, yeah, but the jingle was just the name of their business, and then you would take the name of like John's plumbing, we'll plumb your John, which actually is a great jingle.

But that's what you would do over and over and over. Uh it it was kind of during uh a fall time, and I was also working on big engineering projects, and so I was in another studio, and you were just kind of sitting out at the table stuffing these envelopes, making up jingles while I'm trying to work, and uh it's so distracting.

I'm sorry. I'm not really sorry though, because it was just a way to distract it

was it's a boring thing, but it was too folding up paper and putting it in an envelope.

Yeah, it was a way for me to make it more exciting, and it was a way to annoy you. It was uh it was a twofold thing-along event. A tri-fold.

Yeah. It was uh it was working.

Some of them worked out, some of the

jingles like John's plumbing will plumb your john. Yeah. a great jingle.

That is a great one. That is a great jingle. I didn't come up with that one. You did, I'll tell you.

But that's exactly how they all worked.

Yeah, there wasn't much more to that.

Like Brandon's auto repair, you know, repair your autos. Uh it was better than that. I don't know. They were all exactly like that.

I just, I don't know. I like to make it big time roofing.

We roof you big time.

Hey, that's a good one too. I know. Man, some of the ones I could come up with, I was like, we gotta, we got to get paid. We got to get paid for some of these jingles.

All you did was rearrange their name in a sing-song-y way. It's crazy. But but that's just one example. You do this all day every day.

Constant. Yeah, it's constant. So the fact that she was like, you should do that. I go, I'm gonna do

that. Yeah, she should hang out with you for more than five minutes and then you'll see. You should listen to the time I lock up the building. I gotta lock the doors. Yeah, no kidding. That's what's happening right now. Mm-hmm.

I was washing my face last night. Oh, Yeah, doing my bedtime routine, putting all my collagen on and stuff. Yeah. So it can keep my face looking fresh. Sure. Does that stuff work? I don't know. You tell me.

I mean, you look the same as you always have, so that's good. If I you just take like an eyedropper and drag it across your cheeks.

Well, yeah, like you just drop. Do you rub it in? And then well, yeah. Once you get it on your face, you know, then you're like...

I didn't know if you were making it look like you had big alligator tears.

No, I put it on my forehead and I put it under my eyes, and I put it by my crow's feet, and they put it by my laugh lines, and then I take my fingertips and I rub it in. And what's the goal? It's collagen.

No, I understand. What's the goal? I understand what the product is.

It's to keep your face looking fresh.

Yeah. Are you researching right now what it's for?

Well, I know what it's for, but I can't necessarily remember.

Are you trying to not have wrinkles?

Well, no, like you know how when you get over your skin kind of loses its elasticity. Okay. So it's to keep your like the elasticity kind of boosted.

So that is a topical thing you can do. Yeah. Mm-hmm.

It also makes your skin stay hydrated and look less wrinkled.

I use moisturizer. I get it.

So that's what I was doing. Anyway, side you got sidetracked a little bit with collagen. But as I was washing my face, I was like, What's your collagen jingle? I was put the collagen on my face. Yeah. Yeah. And you dab it in. Mm-hmm. And you go, collagen. Looking fresh. Okay.

Yeah. No, I I've lived with you a lot of years. I I think I've become sort of immune to it, is what's happened. I don't hear you doing all the sing songs all the time because I just go, there she goes again.

Oh, you should. When I'm alone, it's the it's the worst when I'm alone. Well, you talk to yourself too. Constantly. But as I was as I came back to bed after doing my bedtime routine, you go, what took you so long? I went. Yeah, you were gone forever. Wash my face. I know. Where have you been?

You like got up and you were like, well, gotta go get ready for bed, and then you were gone for 45 minutes. And I went, where have you been? I just I thought maybe you had to go to the store. Like you've been gone for a long time.

Just wash my face, put my collagen in, brush my teeth, and then that's it sing my songs. You know how I do. Yeah, uh-huh. I do. I was talking to a coworker the other day, and she is oh I think she's probably late 20s, early 30s. Okay. And I brought up the movie Clueless, and she had never seen it. And I said, Oh, you have to go watch it right now. You have to. And so she did.

And then she came back with a little bit of a mixed review. And that clueless is one of my top, top, top. It's silly, it's dumb, whatever. I love it.

Okay, well, it came out in 1995. Yeah. You watched it when you were 14? 1415. When it came out new. When it was new. Yes. So that would mean she was like, if she's 30.

Then it came out when she was like a baby. Okay. I'm just trying to figure that out. Like it just it wasn't uh her her reference point is not the 90s. Her reference point is the early 2000s. Yes. Okay. I'm just trying to make sure I understand where she is in her timeline as compared to you and I.

And so when she came back and said, I watched it, and I go, and she goes, it was cute. Okay.

And I went, did she know it was a Shakespeare story? She did not.

I didn't talk about that. No, I didn't even talk about that. But I said, okay, now, have you seen this movie? And have you seen this movie? I gave her a whole list.

And the list was, again, I'm let's go through these. Empire Records. Yeah. Which is uh before her time. Yeah.

All of them were before her time.

Can't hardly wait before her time. Yeah. Like she had a different different high school experience.

Right I said, Son-in-law? And she goes, who's son-in-law? She goes, I've heard of son-in-law. Who's in that? I said Polly Shore. She goes, Who's Polly Shore?

You should have asked her if she's seen the goofy movie. I said, And then you could say he's the leaning tower of Cheesa guy. And she'd be like, Yeah, I bet she'd get that one. Oh, she would. Right.

I said we have a lot of homework to do. We've got a lot of work to do. Correct.

Because a goofy movie, I feel like would be more in her her wheelhouse.

But she like I she's a big movie person.

She is, but it's not, it's her movies, not my movies. And I I need to remember that because I've tried to introduce our kids to some of my favorite movies, and they just go.

Yeah, I've done that too, and everybody in the house went, This is the worst movie I've ever seen.

The movies that affected me don't necessarily affect other people the same way. And I have to remember that. That is That is correct. But I get so excited to share and be like, you are gonna love this. And then they come back and they go, hmm.

It's interesting that you say you get so excited to share when you're such a gatekeeper on so many different things. Not movies, though. I disagree. Okay. Especially when it comes to certain actors. You're like, no, I was a fan first. So you get a little hipster on some things.

I don't like sharing my music. Right. And I don't like, I don't know. I get weird about sharing my music sometimes

because I don't want other people to like them. Then they'll be successful. You can't have that. I don't want my bands to have fans so they can continue to make music I like.

But here, yeah, it's that for sure. But then it's also like uh I don't want to share like music that I love a lot because what if they don't like it, and then they go, You liked that? But it's you don't want judgment. I don't feel that way about anything other than judgment.

I don't want your judgment. I want you to also like it so we can be friends.

Okay, so I'm I gave her this long list of movies to watch, right? I go, here's your homework. And then she goes, Have you seen this movie? And I go, Yeah. And she goes, Oh, it's one of my favorites. And I went, We're never gonna see eye to eye. Give me that list back because you're not gonna get it.

I mean, you know, there's stuff for everybody.

There is for everybody. That's the thing about it is that there's stuff for everybody. You know? That's the thing about how the world works. Not everybody is super into the Lord of the Rings. She is. Yeah. Right. But not everybody is as into it as she is.

She goes, because I told her, I go, Clueless is where I first fell in love with uh Paul Rudd. And his name is Josh. And I go, and his name is Josh. That's right. And sometimes I I haven't in a long time, but sometimes I say, I am butt crazy in love with Josh. Oh, that's nice.

But you mean Paul Rudd. So No. I mean, uh yeah, you do.

Yeah, she but she told me my coworker said, I just didn't really get it. And I went, uh, we're done.

She didn't get it because she doesn't understand the valley girl thing. I know that that movie just put into action.

I'm not mad at her. It just was it's a different time that she grew up in, and I just went. It's fine. You like what you like, I'll like what I like, and we can still be friends, but we just can't watch movies together.

Brittany Murphy's great in this movie. Like, she's so good. She is so good. And I'm sad she's not around. Um, But she was super super. I'm looking at who else was in here. Uh it's it's kind of weird to see these people like older. As you go through the cast of headshots and you see them like old now. It's weird.

Well, we just watched a movie with Kirsten Dunce.

I know. She looked great.

She didn't actually look good, but I was like, oh, we've we've done some aging.

Yeah, but uh what I love about Kirsten though, too, is she straight up said I'm not going to do like facial surgery. She's like, I'm not doing injections, I'm not doing any of that stuff because she said she wants to see her face aged. And I think that's so healthy and amazing, and I really like Kirsten. I think that's super cool. But it's weird.

Go look at the cast list. It's strange. Like it's really weird to see. Like even Donald Faison. Yeah, he he looks a little older, but he he still looks like he's Turk.

Like he's very, very young still. But like, look at uh Amber, Elisa Donovan. Like it's still her, but it's strange. You're like, what is happening? We've all we're all aging. Yeah. Yeah, that's a weird little game. Pull up a movie that you know really well from uh uh you know 40 years ago and look at uh the cast now. That's bizarro. Very, very weird.

We took a phone call this morning from a guy named Fred who said they call me bones. That's what he said. They call me bones.

His nickname is Bones. When we asked him what his name was, he he struggled because he just goes by bones. Like he's like, I have a name, but I don't remember what it is because I'm bones. And that's a great nickname. That's a good nickname.

You like that nickname?

Bones is a good one. I'm not uh he said that he got the nickname because he's kind of a skinny dude. And he's been called that like since he was a little kid.

So I don't think I fit. And plus it's his nickname. No, I'm not sure. I'm not trying to steal his nickname. I'm not saying you should. I'm just saying he's got a good nickname.

There are nicknames that you don't like. There are nicknames that I don't like. My family for years and years and years called me nanny goat. Right. Why? I have no idea. I have no idea. They still call me sometimes. They still call me nanny. Right. And I go, but why? But why?

You started uh several years ago as some sort of crazed joke calling me pistol. Oh, everybody calls me. No one calls me that. Everyone does. And it doesn't make sense. And you think it's hilarious.

I do think. Because you're like, ah, here comes old pistol. And I go, that's not even my name. Because you're a sharp shooter. I'm not. I don't have a gun. What are you talking about? But why do you hate it so much? It's just it doesn't make sense.

It's cool. It's a cool nickname.

I don't think it's the coolest thing ever.

They call me pistol. No, they don't. You go into a meeting and they go, hey, nice to meet you. What's your name? And you go, Oh, they call me pistol. No, they don't. But that's so cool.

So it would be way better if it was like I'm Josh. No one calls me pistol. Like that would be a better explanation.

Everyone would call you that. Because the next question is, why do they call you that? And I go, no one calls me that. Because I'm so fast. No. Because I'm made of steel. No. Because I'm hot. No. Because they shoot fire. No.

Pistols don't shoot fire. What are you?

Because I'm made of gunpowder and leg.

No. Also not true. There is no reason to have that as my nickname. No one calls me that. Except you, because you think it's hilarious.

Except me and all of our friends that have told.

Yeah, who's a lot of them. And then they go, What's up, pistol? And I go, no one calls me that. Like, we do. No, you don't. We were at we went to a Utah jazz game, and there's a former player in the back of the jersey says pistol. Yeah, I do. And every time we go, hey, this is your jersey. And I go, no one calls me that.

I would be stoked to have a nickname like that. I get nanny goat. Yeah.

Everyone actually calls you that.

Nobody in my family. I'm rebranding the show. It's Josh and Nanny Goat. Pistol. No.

Pistol and nanny No one calls me that. It makes no sense. Nanny goat. Dude, why? Why?

Why did they call me that? Have I ever even asked? I think I have asked, but it's been so long.

Did you were you a goat as a baby? Did you make a lot of goat noises? Couldn't tell you. Well I feel like it's one of those nicknames. Like you start with your dog being named Luna. Yeah.

For example. And you're like, yeah, it's short for lunatic. And then all of a sudden you're calling her Luna Maluna. And then you're like, what's up, baloney sandwich? Like it just it builds its way down there, and you're like, my dog's name's baloney sandwich. Her name's actually Luna, but you can see how we got to baloney.

And then the dog's like, they call me, well, we actually call her corndog, is what we call it. Yeah. And they're like, how'd you get to there? I don't know. She answered to it one time, and so we went with her name's corndog.

She has all kinds of names. I know. A nanny goat is an adult female goat. No, I know.

Why would they call you an adult female goat as a child? I don't know. They looked at you and went, This one's an old goat. What did you look like as a kid? Did you look like an old goat?

No. You've seen pictures. I know. You look like a cute little kid. I mean, there's a picture of it.

That's a woman goat. That's an adult woman goat. For sure. Come here, nanny goat. Yeah. Why? I don't know. Who started it? I don't. I couldn't tell you.

And I don't know if it was like um, like maybe you know how like you have older siblings and they can't necessarily pronounce your name. Sure. So maybe it was one of my siblings who was like

that's how my sister got her her name. Her entire identity is because I couldn't say the name Melissa. Yeah. But you know, I got better.

Well, so people call me Shannon. I get that. My family calls me Shannonny, which I also hate. Short for nanny goat. So I wonder, Shiny kind of morphed into nanny, which morphed into nanny goat, and it was it just stuck. Ugh. Don't I shouldn't even said it out loud on the radio. The next person will be like, what's up, nanny goat? I'll be like, right. Yeah. Don't call me that.

Yeah, it's like pistol. No one calls it. me that. It's not that cool. It makes no sense. You're fast. I'm not. You're made of steel. I'm not. I also don't shoot fire. Would you rather this or that?

I like this one today. It's a tricky one. Would you rather relive one Christmas morning? Oh man. Or one family vacation. Oh boy. I know. How hard.

That's interesting. Would you so relive it as in just go back in time and have the same experience? Or relive it as in uh travel there as my adult self, knowing what I know now, and have like a like a bird's eye view of the thing.

I think relive it, like you're there again. But you know that you're there as like experiencing anything.

You're seeing it through your childhood eyes or whatever. Yes.

Or I was I was thinking your young adult eyes. I was thinking you're thinking relive one Christmas morning as a kid. I was thinking relive a Christmas morning as a parent to our young kids.

Right. That's an interesting thing too. Isn't it? Yeah. We've got a lot of Christmas mornings that we've had.

There's been a lot of good Christmas mornings. I just got a little teary-eyed thinking about some of them. Nostalgia. Because I cry a lot.

So man, this is a tough one because I'm thinking about like vacations that I took like I could go back to Costa Rica when I did that when I was in high school.

I was thinking our family.

Right, but then I'm like, but then I could go back to New York with everybody, and that was awesome. That was a really good vacation. New York and Boston. Yeah. Like that was so cool.

The trip we took to Hiawatha.

Yeah, that was a good trip. Like there's some really or do I go all the way back to like a family camping trip when I was a kid, which could be interesting.

Because I don't, you know, I those details are kind of foggy. Or do I go back all the way like when my cousins and uh and we like we were camping at Mackey and the big windstorm came up and about blew our tent away. And we were listening to vanilla ice on cassette in the in the tent. Like that could be really cool.

That was your whole problem. Mother Nature was like, Stop, you're in the woods.

Well, turn the space. It was vanilla ice, it was uh it was Weird Al, and it was uh the jerky boys, which is the prank phone call thing that I should not have had a copy of. That was very inappropriate for a child.

But Columbia House will send you anything if you order it. So, you know, or uh or we went to Yellowstone and had a great vacation. That was uh a really good time. We all packed in the motorhome and and uh rolled up the Ashton Hill all the way to Yellowstone.

That was a good trip too. I don't know. I'm having a hard time deciding. I feel like I'm leaning toward a vacation and like going back to a vacation more than a Christmas morning. Okay, I had some great Christmas mornings myself and with the family, and I think that would be really cool too. I don't know which vacation, but I'm picking one of those. Okay. What are you picking?

I don't know, because the the one Christmas morning that really stands out is when we got our dog. Oh that was a good one. Our stella dog. Yeah. But I don't know. It's hard. I don't I'll pick a vacation. But you don't know which one. I don't know which one yet.

I just think that would be fun. It'd be cool to go back on vacation. I just want to go on vacation.

Yeah, kinda. That's what I want to do too.

I've been I've been uh backpacking six days, and I was gone all last week, and now here we are on Friday. I'm like, more vacation? That sounds nice. Would you rather this or that?

How do you feel about a toasted sandwich? Okay.

That's an interesting question. I'm not mad about it. I like a panini. Okay. I like uh I like a warm sandwich with uh with like some avocado and some turkey on there. That's nice.

So apparently not mad about that. there's like a big debate on the internet where some people are like, don't the only bread of mine that will be toasted is like my BLT. Oh. And that's the only or a grilled cheese. Okay. And then they're also like, do not toast my buns. Really? If I'm having a hamburger. And I say toast all of the things.

No, I toast everything.

Yeah, I'm happy to have a toasted bun.

That is interesting. Uh, and that and that kind of got me thinking a little bit. When I go get a sandwich, if I go to a deli or I go to a subway or whatever. You want that toasted? Yes. And I usually say yes.

Me too. Unless I'm having uh no, I'm I can't even say no to that. If I go to like a diner and I order a club, it comes on like they want white wheat, sourdough, whatever, whatever, whatever our bread options are. They always toast it. Yeah. Then it comes out with a little bit of crisp to it. I don't mind that.

Me neither. Because a toasted sandwich, mmm, delicious.

I I would not like a toasted peanut butter and jelly. Oh, but have you had one? No. Me neither. I was I've had jam on toast. So it's just the other half would have peanut butter, huh?

Yeah. And that sounds quite nice.

Sounds crunchy. Now there's toasted. So yeah. Like there's a toasted sandwich, but then there's like a sandwich made on toast.

The internet debacle debate is which sandwiches get bread and which sandwiches get toast. And I say. You say toast all the things. I'm I'm here for toasting all the things, but I'm also not mad about just a bread sandwich either.

A Cuban toasted. Now, what about a steamed sandwich? Because I've had several of those too, where they warm it up to melt the cheese, but they use a steamer instead of a toaster.

They aren't putting it in an oven to make it crispy, but they're gonna melt the cheese and make the bread warm in a steamer. Not mad. How about it? Right. That's different. That's a warm sandwich, but not toasted. Did anyone bring that up online? No. Nobody's talking about steamed sandwiches.

No. Lucky first one.

Okay. Oh boy. But then I'm also like thinking about buns. And I do toast the buns on the burgers.

I prefer a toasted bun for sure. On a burger. Yeah. Yeah. Yep.

If you just even Burger King puts them through a toaster. Like the conveyor belt thing that the that you put the buns in, toasts them. So they're nice and warm. That's good. I don't want to just a cold, dry bun.

And I think like you make a really good burger, and I think I've been spoiled by your burgers because now when we go to like other barbecues, and it's like you didn't even toast this bun. Okay.

I guess I'll have this cold. You didn't even put like a monogram on the bun on top. Like it's fancy. Guess what? Where's that?

Have this cold bun straight from the bag.

Yeah, who wants a bag bun? Warm it up. You just spoiled me. I sorry.

No, don't apologize. Your burgers are delicious. I haven't had very many of them this summer either. You have not grilled enough this summer.

I know. I've only used the smoker twice. I need to get the smoker going. I got a lot of things to do. You really do. Yeah. You really do. Settle down. It's been hot. Nobody wants to stand uh behind a hot blackstone in the hot summer.

I know. And you don't have your area's not shaded.

That's the next plan for the backyard makeover.

You needed a little grill cover area. Right. That's the next plan.

And I'm expanding the garden. There's a lot going on. Oh, I know.

We just gotta keep waiting for that.

Those paychecks to come in. One of these days I'll buy lumber. I'll get stuff built. Hmm. Okay. Toasted. Yeah, I'm pretty deep. I'm pretty toasty. I like it. You ready to kick off the weekend?

Oh yeah, baby. Okay.

Let's do that. We will be back on Monday. Hope you have a great rest of your Friday. And thanks for hanging out with us all week. Lots of fun. Kid Smarts is back next week. Do you know what we're giving away?

You told me, but I forgot. We are giving away tickets to uh the Idaho Falls Zoo. We'll be giving away four packs of tickets on Kid Smarts all next week. Plus uh your chance to win tickets to Magical Cirque Christmas with Hoho Hold On.

We'll be playing that at 8.20. Don't forget to nominate a teacher for treat a teacher with PSI Environmental. Uh that's at KLCE.com and in the Classy97 app. What else? I think that's it.

More hijinks and shenanigans. We'll see you Monday. Bye.
