[00:00:00] Pia: Ever feel worried that something you really want to go well, ooh, will just fail or go badly? Well, welcome to the world of self-fulfilling prophecies and how you can change them to deliver the success that you seek. I'm Pia.

[00:00:15] Dan: and I'm Dan, and this is Squadify Connects.

[00:00:18] Sometimes we almost doom ourselves to failure by unconsciously focusing more on what can go wrong than what could actually go right. That's where the Be in be do have is so important in setting how we want our mindset to be.

[00:00:34] Pia: So let's take the story of Joel, who's got the great opportunity to pitch an idea to his boss and the exec team. But Joel is very nervous and concerned about making a mistake and looking stupid. So, stop for a minute and think about where his be is. It's probably nervous, maybe defensive, or cautious. It's likely that however a good idea, he's less likely to win their hearts with his energy.

[00:01:04] Dan: Now, the good news is that Joel is a subscriber to Squadify Connects, so he decides to head to the bathroom, takes a deep breath, and looks at himself in the mirror. How does he actually want to be? He picks the first two words that come into his mind. Dynamic and bold, and simply chooses to be that. He adjusts his body position naturally, steps out, and as he he locks eyes with each executive, he is bold and dynamic and he delivers his messages right into the hearts and minds of his audience.

[00:01:33] Pia: So many of us are regularly in Joel's shoes, in meetings, presentations, et cetera, but do we take that extra minute of time out to consciously choose our be? It doesn't have to be a big occasion. It could be a conversation with a peer, starting your day. Oh, working on a spreadsheet, even.

[00:01:51] Dan: Oh, that always gets me fired up. Um, but this week is your chance to try this out. It may be the best one minutes preparation of your week. And a quick tip, you don't have to go to the bathroom to do this, but do take note and observe how your be is and what the impact was of actually choosing that mindset.

[00:02:11] Pia: Remember, small changes over time could have a big impact. So give it a go and try something new this week. Good luck and see you soon.
