TRAILER about the disappearance of the two teenage girls while on a bicycle tour across Switzerland in 1982.
Uncover Switzerland’s most enigmatic murder cases with our riveting investigative true crime podcast.
On Saturday, July 31, 1982, shortly before noon, a a family gets in their car and drives off to meet their relatives for lunch. They leave their house and family business, a medium sized sawmill in the hamlet of Cobblediz in the eastern part of Switzerland and drive the short distance down the gravel track until they reach the main road. This narrow country road separates the dense, broadleaf forest on the left from the green, flat meadows on the right. The setting is typical, tranquil and quaint. Lush, green pastures are dotted with farmhouses and grazing cows.
Speaker 2:Nothing suggests that this would soon become the backdrop of an incomparable crime. As they come around a slight bend, the father suddenly has to brake hard and steer to the left to avoid hitting 2 teenage girls standing with their bicycles in the middle of the crossroads. He curses and drives on, while the mother turns her head to take a closer look. It was the last time the 2 girls were seen alive. And little did the family know that this was the beginning of what turned out to be one of the most horrific, baffling, and mysterious murder cases ever to occur in Switzerland.
