What is Scripture for Your Inner Outcasts?

In the Gospels, Jesus reaches out to the outcasts, the most marginalized and rejected members of His society. In this very brief podcast, we take His approach inside – to reach out to your inner outcasts, the parts of you who are walking in darkness and gloom. Listen in and invite the Good News in the daily Mass readings to shine on your inner lost sheep, your inner prodigals, your inner lepers, your lame, deaf, and blind parts, your inner tax collectors, and your inner prostitutes – all those parts of you deemed unworthy and unacceptable by your protector parts.

Why? So that you can integrate inside, heal, and grow to flourish in accepting being loved, loving yourself in an ordered way, and then being able to love God wholeheartedly, with all your parts, and your neighbor as yourself. All informed by Internal Family Systems and other parts work approaches, and all firmly grounded in a Catholic understanding of the human person. Join us in seeing Scripture through a new lens, coming alive for those parts of you that may have experienced spiritual neglect and need healing.

Speaker 2: Welcome back to Scripture for your inner outcasts. Today is July 2nd, 2020 sixth. Thursday of the 13th Week in Ordinary Time. Today's guest presenter is Pam Malinoski, the integrator at Souls and Hearts.

Speaker 1: In today's first reading, we hear a dialog between Amos, a prophet of God, and Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, from Amos chapter seven, verse 12 and 13 to Amos, Amaziah said. Off with you, visionary. Flee to the land of Judah. There, earn your bread by prophesying, but never again prophesy in Bethel, for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple. As Amaziah, sending Amos away, accusing him of essentially being a paid prophet, I hear the voice and accusations of so many managers. Can you hear them in your system? Young exiles? Do you hear your manager saying, be off with you? Take your anger elsewhere. There's no room for it here. Or flee. You are not good enough. You are not worthy to be loved. Hide yourself so no one can see you or never again. Be vulnerable. Tuck it far away so you can avoid being hurt again. When you face accusations and messages like that, day in and day out, it's no wonder that you want to hide. It's no wonder that you accumulate more and more burdens. But there is a way to have a different conversation. There is a way to release those burdens and heal.

Speaker 1: There is a way to have a healthy role within your system. Each one of you has an innermost self who can lead and guide your system. It may take some time to develop trust, but that innermost self wants to hear your story. Your innermost self will never say be off with you, will never ask you to flee and will never insist that you stuff everything away. Instead, self appreciates you for all that you do to carry these burdens in life once very much to understand your perspective where and how you learned the things that you learned and where you picked up your burdens. And self also appreciates the managers who are trying to protect you, even when they use means that are not ideal. So when the time is right and you feel safe and ready, share your story with your innermost self. Then as you start to experience acceptance, understanding, and love, as you begin to feel seen, heard, known, and understood, you will also experience a healing transformation and take on a new, healthier role within your interior system.

Speaker 2: I'd like to invite you, dear listeners, to subscribe to this podcast on whatever platform you're listening, and also to leave a review if you feel so called. Doing so really helps us to spread this work to others who might need it.
