Rangers have had just about everything going their
way.
Just avoided a huge bases loaded jam.

Whew, could've gotten dicey real quick there.
Silseth clutches up and is able to get
the Rangers to the bottom half without totally
blowing this game in a different direction.
Logan O'Hoppe contributing with an RBI Sackfly.
Marcus, I'm with you on that.

Totally agreed off the bat.
Looked like it was potentially gonna leave the
yard.
Wasn't meant to be, but we were still
able to get a run out of it.

Wyatt Langford's gonna serve one into right field
and he will likely go to two and
he does.

Gonna bring up Brandon Nimmo who has four
RBI in this ball game.

He came to play in this series, didn't

I have been very, very glad to see
him and Seager finally start to light it
up a little bit here.
Seager was in a two for 22 slump.
Now you've got him clicking, you got Brandon
Nimmo clicking.
Crazy what can happen when your three and
four hitters start lighting it up and really
start getting into a groove.
You hope this is what you can get
used to for the next month as the
Rangers try and nail down a playoff spot.
They've got a lot of teams in the
mix.
You got Houston ahead of you in the
division.
You got a number of teams in that
wild card race.
You're gonna need bats like Brandon Nimmo and
Corey Seager to really start getting going.
And tonight is at least a stepping stone
to that.
Brandon Nimmo in a one-one count right
now.

Guess they refreshed the score bug on me.

I don't think we can sing his praises
enough.

And they were all different situations.
And he's going to drive in another one

Hey, look, it happened with Cody Freeman last
night.
Right on cue, Brandon Nimmo.

Look, different situation, same result.
Texas has needed somebody like this in the
middle of the lineup to consistently turn traffic
into a one-on-one situation.
Brandon Nimmo runs.
Nimmo is doing exactly that.
He's now four for four with five RBI.
He is feeling himself tonight.
And the Rangers extend their lead to eight
to one in this ballgame.
Last night, I complained, man, where are all
the no-sweat games at?
And looks like, and I wouldn't call this
one completely no-sweat with that Silseth bases
-loaded scenario, but it's turning into one.
It's at least turning into one.
Brandon Nimmo, the player of the game offensively,
for sure, up to this point.
We'll talk about MacKenzie Gore in a second,
but first, here at Right on Rangers, we
cover everything Texas sports, but we put a
big emphasis on the Rangers during the MLB

was moving a little slowly.

Was involved in a little bit of the
action earlier on a couple innings ago.
Had one of the best plays you'll ever
see.

It was definitely one of the plays of
the year.
I mean, full extension, maybe not the most
hard hit baseball, but full extension.
Got up, quick throw, got the outs.
Just a beautiful thing.
Zeke can do it all.
And in the fourth inning, they're showing the
replay right now.
Perfect.
My goodness.
Just give this guy the gold glove right
now.
Give this guy the utility glove, the utility
gold glove immediately.
What a play.
Oh, MacKenzie Gore was hyped too.
I love that.
I absolutely love that.
Duran gets a walk here, successfully challenged a
pitch.
Now he's going to walk a little two
out rally continuing here.
Rangers have runners at first and second with
two out.

I mean, look, the advanced stats back it
up.
He is one of the best defenders in
the league.
No doubt.
One of the best defenders in the league.
And it is not particularly close, in my
opinion, in terms of the utility, the utility
race.
Look, Zeke would have to fall off a
cliff seriously to lose utility gold glove.
He has been phenomenal.
Pitching change here gives us a chance to
catch up on a number of different things.
Gives us a chance to catch up on
some of the other action in the game.
We talked Nimmo.
We talked Seager.
Let's talk MacKenzie Gore.
Gore was good enough tonight.
It wasn't necessarily overpowering, but he was good
enough tonight.
Five hits, two walks.
Look, the A's had their opportunities, no doubt.
But one earned run is the important number
here.
Gore bent a little bit in this game,
but he did let one inning get away
from him.
And that has been the knock on Gore
pretty much all season long.
That one bad inning, man.
It's always that one bad inning.
But Gore figured out a way to limit
damage, 83 pitches through five.
Skip decides to go to sell set that
gets interesting pretty immediately.
I think maybe against the A's with a
four run lead, you're thinking about potentially giving
him an opportunity to rest a little bit.
I do say, you know, with the full
slate of baseball ahead, you know, you got
four games with the Rays coming up later
in the week.
I can't say I totally got the move.
We'll have to see if there was anything
else to it, but I'm not sure I
totally understand going to sell set in the
six there.
You probably would have loved to have gotten
one more inning out of Gore.
The walks are really what concerns you.
And maybe that is the reason why Gore
gets pulled out of the game.
Maybe so.
I definitely feel like overall Gore gave you
a chance to win and you're not walking
away from this start with a negative.
At least I'm not, but I don't really
understand not giving him a sixth frame.
I can't say I feel a whole lot
better with so Seth compared to Gore, Nikki
Lopez, by the way, coming on here and
he is going to pop out to third
base.
I got to imagine Lopez that the days
are probably a little bit numbered.
The day's probably a little bit numbered here.
And I don't know how many more ABs
we're going to be seeing with Nicky Lopez
as a ranger.
He is definitely a guy that we grew.
I think the love as he was really
just racking up the hits, Nikki Knox, as
they call them.
But Nikki Knox says dried up a little
bit and I might be putting it lightly.
Yeah.
Let's get some comments here.
Get some comments, man.

Skip was pissed off with the two walks
in the sixth.
Lord something to what's good comment from YouTube

Yeah.
I can't imagine with a lead, you know,
you're up five, one, you got to throw
strikes, man.
You got to throw strikes.
You cannot give away free passes with a
four run lead.
Yeah.
You're not grooving pitches right down the middle
of it.
I don't think anybody is saying that you
should, but you can't give away free passes
when you got a big lead like that.
You got to make the other team earn
it.
And that easily could have been what it
was.
I just think in a week where you
have no off days, man, you got to,
you got to gear up for Tampa Bay
immediately after tomorrow's day game.
You get, you get a little afternoon evening
off and then you're ready to rock and
roll man against the best team in the
American league.
I just don't want to see them burn
a lot of bullpen pieces.
Maybe you can make the argument.
They're not really burning anyone of leverage of
value.
So Seth is a guy they have been
using late, but with Junis back, you kind
of figure you can figure out a way
to bridge it to Junis and lats if
you need to tomorrow or later on in
the week with the race series upcoming.
Uh, I think Gore overall though, I have
to say it's a positive start for him.
He gave us a chance to win the
four walks are concerning.
And honestly, when you think about October, that
that's really my biggest fear with a lot
of these young arms with rocker with lighter,
uh, lighter.
I know, obviously with the biceps thing is
shut it down a little bit here.
You have to have guys that can throw
strikes and Cal Q is a strike thrower
to grow on for the most part strike
thrower.
I know he had five walks against the
White Sox.
It's kind of an anomaly of all these
same thing.
I just feel like when you have a
playoff race heating up, when you make it
to October, you got to have guys that
can put it in the zone and aren't
going to just give the other team free
base runners.
It's a very, very, I think underrated thing.
Maybe it's not, maybe more people are appreciate
appreciating it than what I'm giving them credit
for.
But it's one thing if a guy has
filthy stuff, but you gotta be able to
throw strikes when you get into the crunch
time at the end of the season, end
of the regular season and into October, I'd
really like to see the rest of the
way tonight, though, kind of echoing this comment
here from YouTube or Tubbington again.

I'd love if they could just give this
game to Montgomery, give it to somebody that
can just finish out the final three.
Let's not use a ton of arms.
I'm not hoping we have to use Jordan
Montgomery a lot in the A series.
If we do, it probably isn't going too

Maybe it's Macko, although with Macko, you might
be wanting to use him in some different

Rockies were up, looked like had a walk
-off home run.
It was two to one Orioles.
There was a runner on base, bottom of
the ninth inning.
Rockies dude hits a mashed baseball to deep
center field.
Couser playing center field for the Orioles.
Full dead sprint robs a sure home run.
That would have won the game for the
Rockies and allowed the Rangers to gain some
ground.
Incredible game.
Rockies right now are beating the Orioles by
a score of two to one in the
top of the sixth.
We'll see if that score holds.
That would be pretty big.

A's will go first to third and Heim
has got another base hit.

I mean, look, I think obviously a little
bit of heart talking for me with Osuna
and that's always full disclosure by the way.
It does make sense.
I think with Zeke's emergence along with Josh
Young, positive news, Josh Jung, and if you
haven't heard very well, could be on a
rehab assignment later this week.
I think with those two things in mind,
Zeke's emergence in center field and also the
fact that Josh Jung is coming back, definitely
I think open things up for a guy
like Cam Cauley who can do both, right?
He can play outfield.
He can play second base.
It makes sense to me.
I'm not mad at it.
I would love to see Osuna back in
a Rangers uniform, but I really can't be
mad at the Cam Cauley move.
I mean, Cam Cauley is my boy as
well, so I'm happy for him.
I just hope the Rangers use Cam Cauley
appropriately.
I posted that earlier today.
I just feel like the Rangers were weirdly
burning him in the sixth inning all the
time.
It would be sixth or seventh inning and
Cam would be in the game.
Cam to me, if he's not playing and
he's on the bench, dude should be your
defensive replacement, late inning base stealing guy.
Skip does really like to empty out the
bench.
It is something that annoys me a little
bit, a little bit of a pet peeve
of mine.
I know you can't take bench guys with
you, but man, it feels like there's been
some games.
You're late in the game and you've burned
pretty much everybody except the catcher.
I just do not like how they used
Cam Cauley in his first stint.
I felt like he had a little bit
of a rhythm playing center field here and
there for Evan Carter, then playing second base
against lefties.
Felt like we kind of lost our way
there with Cam Cauley before the demotion.
I know he wasn't like crushing the baseball
per se, but I'd really like to see
them employ him smartly, employ him in a
more dedicated way, in a more dedicated role.
I think he needs to be playing against
lefties.
I do think you can find him a
spot somewhere in the mix.
I think Foscue, he can go back to
doing the DH thing.
I know he was getting some field time.
I don't think you want Justin Foscue in
the field over Cam Cauley.
Look, base knock here.
Macko, he had a nice game last time
out, but he's letting the A's back in
this one a little bit.
You wonder how long Skip is going to
let Macko dry out there on the mound.
It is second, first and second, one out,
eight to two ballgame here.

I mean, depends on how the rehab assignment
is going and how he looks, but I
got to feel like you're not batting him
anywhere like outside of the top five.
I feel like he's got to be in
the top five somewhere.
I mean, you look at the batting lineup
tonight.
I personally would rather have Zeke Duran up
higher.
I'm not really in love with the Foscue
leadoff thing.
I don't know how you guys feel about
this.
I know I'm going to come off back
to back nights sounding like a Foscue hater.
He was 0-2 tonight.
I know he had a home run last
night.
Obviously, against lefties, Foscue is a good hitter.
I mean, statistically, he's a great hitter.
I'm not a big fan of Foscue in
the leadoff spot.
Don't really get it.
Would much rather have Ezequiel Duran in the
leadoff spot instead of hitting fifth.
Zeke's been one of your best hitters.
Let him have more A's.
Foscue, yeah, against lefties, I mean, it was
an opener today, though.

It wasn't really a lefty that was going
to be starting a ton.
You didn't know how long Basso was going
to go, but I'm just not a fan
of Foscue in the leadoff spot.
For me, it'd be Zeke Duran.
And then after that, I think you can
play around with it a little bit.
But Josh Jung right now feels like you
could pretty comfortably hit him in the five
hole right behind Nimmo.
That's probably what I would prefer.
Move Foscue back down to six or below.
I don't feel like there's any need for
Justin to be up there in the leadoff
spot.

Then after that, you have any combination that

I think moving Josh back to the five
hole would be just fine.
I think to me that would be a
great place for him.
He definitely was needed up at the top
of the lineup before the injury.
He was hitting second a lot, hitting third
sometimes.
You definitely needed it.
I think things have evened out to the
point where you could hit him fifth and
feel pretty comfy.
We'll see what they decide to do.

Texas over the last stretch of games.
A lot of production coming from 7, 8,

That's how you get hot, man.
You have those hitters down there that you're
not really counting on, doing some work, putting
the ball in play.
That's how you go on a little run.
You've got those guys producing.
Look, it helps when Brandon Nimmo is four
for four with five RBI as well.
Let's not take anything away from the big
names tonight.
You've had pretty much all the big names
showing out.
Langford, Seager, Nimmo have eight combined hits today.
Impressive.
Very impressive.
Hey, let's keep on going here.
Texas, we've already talked about this a little
bit, but they've scored in three different innings
tonight, four different innings now, excuse me.
And this is against a bullpen game setup,
which has been a little bit murky for
Texas.
I know that there's been some games where
there's been success, but I can remember some
games earlier this year where this opener strategy
has really stymied the Rangers.
Just haven't been able to really get into
a good rhythm.
And that is kind of a potential benefit
of the opener strategy in general, but the
Rangers have not been phased by a number
of different arms coming into this game.
The A's didn't give Texas one starter, right?
To, to solve three times through the order.
This is the Rangers happen to adjust to
different arm angles, different repertoires on the fly.
And they've really done a pretty nice job.
All right.
You've got eight runs.
You've got 12 hits, no complaints here.
A series standard that we've talked about sitting
right there.
Isn't it?
You've, you've won one.
You have a really good chance to win
two out of three tonight.
And then tomorrow day game, you have a
chance to sweep the series, which a lot
of us said it's pretty much mandatory.
You got to win two out of three.
It's pretty much mandatory.
We can maybe stomach a two out of
three, but honestly, three out of three, a
sweep is what's most ideal here.
It's sitting right there.
Cody Freeman, given this one a little bit
of a ride, but right at the left
fielder, Cody one for four.
Now on the ball game, two 97 average
for the Rangers, third baseman, seven 57 OPS,
Cody having a nice run here at late
August, early September.
And then look, uh, Tampa right around the
corner.
We talked about them.
You can get three wins here against the
A's.
It takes a little pressure off in the
Tampa series, just a little bit.
I mean, that that's a series.
You really want to take three out of
four.
I don't think we need to be kidding
ourselves and say four out of four is
the only possible solution here.
It's not, I do think three out of
four would go a long way.
Worst case of split.
And the fact that you get three against
the A's we're, we're not assuming a sweep
tomorrow, but we're just hypothesizing here.
If you can sweep the A's, it does
take a little bit of the heat off
of that race series.
Again, not, not to the point where you're
totally happy if they split, but I think
winning three and then winning two, going five
and two on the homestand.
That's pretty impressive.
I think you'll live with that run.
You'll live with that clip of games pushback
if needed.
I just feel like three out of four,
the most ideal, I think four out of
four might be a bit of a pipe
dream against the best team in baseball.
Would love to see it.
But I think if you can win all
three against the A's and win two against
the rays, go five and two on the
homestand.
I think that's pretty huge.
Clearly it depends a little bit on what
the teams ahead of the Rangers are doing.
What's Houston doing?
What's Baltimore doing?
What are the blue Jays doing?
All that matters.
But if you can get five wins on
this seven game homestand, that's big.
That is big.
Yeah.
Kenny, I did not hear anybody else here
about burger.
Was there any commentary on Jake and why
he exited?
I just assumed it was just to give
him a little bit of a breather, but
let me know.
I have the broadcast on mute by the

So I'm definitely not going to be able
to give any updates in that regard.

who are watching the game right now, let

Diaz up to bat.
He is one for three on the night,
has a couple of strikeouts in this one.
Diaz has faded a little bit at the
plate.
He was hitting over 300 with Nicky Lopez
at one point.
He is down to 229 with a 660
OPS, but he has done pretty well here
over the last three or four games, been
hitting the ball hard, putting it in play.
Diaz is going to take ball two, two,
one count Rangers, bottom of the seventh here,
and there's ball three.
Looking to get out of this one without
it getting too interesting.
Come on now.
Here's the pitch, ball four.
Rangers have a little two-out rally cooking,
I guess.
And that is going to bring O'Hoppe to
the plate.
Logan O'Hoppe, oh for one with an RBI.
Actually, he doesn't get in it bad.
He gets the sack fly.
So no official AB, does have an RBI
though.
Good for him.
O'Hoppe on the year 211, 567 OPS.
Most of that was clearly with the Angels,
was crushing the ball down in triple A,
getting a month long audition here.
First pitch is outside.
I told you guys on the show last
night, I would love to see O'Hoppe really
take control of the catching position.
You've got Danny Jansen on the books for
next year.
I would love for Danny Jansen, unfortunately, to
be a really expensive backup.
And I say unfortunately, because it's not ideal
paying a backup catcher, whatever it is, seven
and a half million.
That's not ideal.
But I'd like to see Logan O'Hoppe in
a primary role next year.
He's got to earn it on the field,
and I don't think he has yet.
But just saying, speaking it into existence, right?
I would love to see that happen.
Logan O'Hoppe is going to challenge, I think
what is going to be ball two was
called strike two.
It's a big, definitely a big challenge, man.
When you have a situation like this, we
talk about it all the time.
The difference between one, two and two, one
is monumental.
And O'Hoppe is right here.
He is going to get ball two corrected.
It's two, one count now.
Tour on the mound, 15 pitches in.
There's a called strike painted right at the
knees.
O'Hoppe, definitely a guy the Rangers are going
to be able to keep around for a
while if they so choose.
With O'Hoppe not coming up until what the
22nd, 23rd, whatever it was, you have that
extra year of control built in.
That last year of control, the fourth year
of arbitration, because he will get a fourth
year of arbitration now, because he's already ARB
eligible next season with three plus years of
service time.
You're going to have four years of O'Hoppe
arbitration.
That fourth year could get expensive.
You could be getting into the double digit
millions in that fourth year, potentially.
That's probably the one thing to be thoughtful
of with O'Hoppe.
If he does start coming around, I wouldn't
be shocked if the Rangers try and get
something done with him just to wipe out
the ARB years.
That would, I think, be ideal so you
don't have to get into crazy territory with
that fourth year of arbitration.
By the way, O'Hoppe strikes out swinging to
end the frame, and we are going to
head to the top of the eighth inning
here.
We're about 30 minutes into the show.
Rangers are leading eight to two in this
one, and we are heading to Walton, Cortez,
and Bolt up to bat next for the
athletics.

So with the rosters expanding, the Rangers decide

AAA, you know, Gavin Collyer.
They decide to go to Trevor Williams, who
pitched for the Nationals this year.
Did not pitch a ton, but in the
games that he did pitch, a 265 ERA,
a 124 whip, 22 strikeouts, and 17 innings
pitched.

Look, who knows how long, how long lasting
that's going to go, and most of what
he's done has been in long relief.
Like, you're looking at his last three games.
He actually did pitch against Texas.
This is actually kind of funny.
He pitched on August 18th, so about two
weeks ago.
He threw three and a third innings of
scoreless ball and struck out five against the
Rangers a couple weeks ago when we were
playing the Nationals.
That is too much, man.
Last time he pitched was the 23rd, about
eight days ago, against Miami.
Gave up two earned runs in two and
a third.
Not exactly sure why the Nats dropped him
on the fly here.
Would have to look it up.
Why did they drop this guy?
Seems like he's had a pretty solid year.
It's possible that maybe the Nats are trying
to go a little bit younger.
As I look at the numbers on him,
he is 34, 34 years of age, so
it's possible that maybe they wanted to try
and go a little bit younger, give some
other guys some opportunities.

the Nats.

That would be a big win, especially, again,

Couser made to save the game for Baltimore
last night, that was a gut punch for
Rangers fans, man.
That was going to be walk-off Rockies,
and the Rangers gain a game in the
wild card.
Instead, Couser makes one of the catches of
the year, saves the game.

I've gone back and forth with this so

I think the AL East is too good

It's important to start stacking some wins here,
especially against a team like the A's.
We all know how often it comes down
to one or two games.
You're kicking yourself for dropping games to the
Rockies.
I think we dropped the game to them
earlier in the year.
