Right on Rangers LIVE!

MacKenzie Gore gave Texas five innings and a winnable game. The Rangers answered with three hits, 15 strikeouts and the kind of sloppy fundamental baseball Austin argues a team fighting for October cannot afford.

Austin gets into why Gore was the clean positive in a 6-3 loss to the Mets, what went wrong when Nathan Eovaldi entered in the sixth, and why the defensive mistakes and lack of sustained contact felt bigger than one bad night. The show also digs into accountability under Skip Schumaker, Cam Cauley versus Michael Helman, the AL West tie with Houston and Wednesday’s challenge against Nolan McLean.

What is Right on Rangers LIVE!?

Right on Rangers is where Rangers fans ride the season in real time.

The LIVE shows are the heartbeat. Big wins, ugly losses, bullpen chaos, breakout heaters, trade rumors, roster debates, and the takes that come with actually caring about this team.

Sometimes those takes get hot. That’s part of watching 162 with people who are invested. But the reaction still has receipts. We use stats, film, history, roster context, and what’s happening on the field to figure out what the game actually revealed.

Between LIVE shows, we go deeper on the players, decisions, stories, and moments shaping Texas baseball.

Rangers first, always. When the calendar turns, the Cowboys, Longhorns, Mavericks, and the biggest Texas sports stories get their run too.

If you want sterile box-score recaps, this probably isn’t your show. If you want passionate Rangers talk with actual baseball underneath it, welcome in.

Hi, and welcome to another edition of Right

on Rangers Live, coming at you, top of

the ninth inning, Rangers Trail 6-3, after

leading this one 3-2.

It was like a while ago.

Game flipped, of course, when Nathan Eovaldi, man,

Nitro baby, gave up three runs in the

sixth.

Robert Garcia came in, gave up another in

the seventh.

And MacKenzie Gore, a winnable game given to

the Rangers by the Southpaw.

And unless we have a major rally in

the bottom of the ninth, looking like that

one is going to be wasted.

By the way, Gore, five innings, four hits,

two runs, only one earned, one walk, two

strikeouts, 77 pitches.

And by the way, dealing with an injury

for, seemed like pretty much the entire start.

Sean Manaea, by the way, opposed with six innings,

three hits, and nine strikeouts.

And I feel like I came into this

game feeling outstanding about the lefty lineup, the

lefty starter lineup, that is.

And it failed the Rangers today, man.

The bats have not been good enough.

I know they put up three runs.

It's not nothing, could be worse, obviously, but

it wasn't good enough tonight.

I think the number one thing that you

have to look at, really more than anything

else, is the defense.

Defense has been extremely shoddy today.

You had Nimmo out in the outfield, Zeke

not communicating great.

You have the drop fly ball out there.

You have Justin Foscue here in footsteps, not

wanting to truck Corey Seager again like he

did earlier in the year, not diving, not

attempting to get a ground ball that ultimately

scored a run.

You have Josh Jung with a bad throw

on what should have been a double play

ball.

And the two guys that you probably want

to see leave the field next year, both

showing you exactly why tonight.

Josh Jung and Brandon Nimmo, of course, the

guys we're talking about.

Brandon Nimmo, by the way, he's definitely had

his moments with the bat.

Josh Jung's been the best hitter on the

team, but it feels like those two spots,

you would love to have a different fielder

out there in 2027.

It is what it is for this year.

There's not going to be a lot that

you can really do to fix it.

You got to ride with who you got,

but third base and right field, probably the

two biggest positions, the two greatest needs in

terms of an upgrade.

We're not talking about hitting.

We're not talking about the lineup.

We're talking about just strictly playing the field.

Those two spots feel like the biggest places

to upgrade at this moment.

Rangers entered tonight one game ahead of Houston,

six games left Houston playing Seattle tonight.

And if you're looking for a scoreboard update,

it is four to nothing Astros in the

top of the third, nine hits already through

three innings for the Strohs.

Now there's a team playing hard, playing like

they want to be in the playoffs coming

out of an off day.

I actually felt like Bacsik and Raymond

have done a pretty good job calling things

out today, which isn't always the case, but

then backs it kind of backtracks a little

bit.

Well, what's the Mike?

What's the record or Dave?

What's the record of teams coming out of

the off day?

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.

We're not blaming the off day.

We're not.

We are not blaming the off day for

tonight.

Come on.

What motivation do you need?

I don't care.

I don't give a crap that there was

an off day yesterday.

You are trying to make the playoffs.

I am so sorry.

If you try to come at me with

off day, woes, I can't even engage.

There's so many excuses that you could go

to.

I am not even buying for a minute.

Well, they had an off day yesterday.

Come on, man.

You've got the regular season ending in five

days.

You're trying to make the playoffs.

What more do you need in terms of

motivation?

I mean, look, the effort absolutely looks like

they're still on the off day.

I don't think there's any mistake about that.

The effort 1000% looks like it's still

Monday.

It's it's still off day in ranger land,

but I'm not letting them off the hook

because it was an off day yesterday.

Come on.

Nobody should be using that excuse.

By the way, we've got an interesting top

of the ninth unfolding Peyton Gray in the

game, looking like this is going to get

a little more lopsided if Peyton can't figure

this one out.

Of course, Gray activated from the aisle today.

He gets strike two.

Not the best start for him after returning

from what felt like a decently long stay

on the aisle.

Maybe it was only a couple of weeks.

I could be totally off there.

Feels longer for whatever reason.

Processing this one live, y'all.

I'm going to need your help.

Drop a comment.

Drop a question.

We'll talk about it.

We will talk about it.

Peyton Gray is going to get a strike

out here.

Now one pitch double play ball gets them

out of the top of the ninth inning.

You go to the bottom of the ninth.

Look, you definitely have some hope, but it

is looking a little bleak here down three.

First of all, y'all know the drill

here at Right on Rangers.

We cover everything Texas sports, but we put

a huge emphasis on the Rangers during the

MLB season.

We thank you for choosing Right on Rangers

for all of your Texas Rangers content.

Marcus Semien going to line one to center

field here, right to Duran.

So two out, and Peyton Gray is one

out away from getting out of this unscathed

in the ninth inning.

Brian, yes I do, but I think it'll

probably be a close game.

If I had to guess, somebody was asking

me about Saturday's game, Texas, Tennessee.

I would imagine it's going to be a

pretty close one, but I think Texas will

get the win, but you are talking to

a little bit of a biased opinion right

now.

Let's be real.

On a positive note, Sergio says at least

the Astros could be the first round exits

instead of us.

I'm not ready to go there yet, y

'all.

I'm not ready to go to, we're done.

I'm not.

We're not done, but man, this is an

ugly effort.

We just got to call a spade a

spade, call it on the carpet.

You're still going to have people sugarcoating this

one, making excuses.

I just can't right now.

I can't.

I'm not here for the off day excuse,

even the injuries.

One thing I wanted to tweet out, but

I just kind of refrained because I wanted

to see how this game plays out.

They could still win.

It definitely is a possibility.

It's not a strong possibility, but it's a

possibility.

They could make things interesting here in the

bottom half.

A lot depends on what Peyton Gray does

on these next couple of pitches here.

Maybe I'll save my take for if they

can get out of this.

Looks like we're going to have an O2

count in coming here.

I'll save my take until we get out

of this inning.

Let me see.

YouTube comment here, flush it and come back

tomorrow.

Credit the Mets, all things you may hear.

I'm going to talk about this in just

a second.

I'm going to talk about the excuses and

not obviously here for them at all, but

I'll elaborate.

Sugi, what's good?

Team has played down to the competition all

year.

YouTube comment here, not surprised they boot the

ball around.

Hey, G-Man, what's good?

Appreciate you saying what's up, man.

Don't understand pulling Gore, Joey says.

I didn't like seeing Gore exit the game

either, but I don't think he wanted to

exit.

I think the Rangers decided to pull him.

Maybe they're trying to save Gore from himself

there.

Alvarez is going to go down swinging here,

and we have Duran, Foscue, and Diaz coming

up next.

If anybody gets on, the mighty Danny Jansen

coming to the dish, batting fourth in the

ninth.

Danny Jansen walk off Grand Slam, anybody?

Just throwing that out there, speaking that into

existence.

We'll see what happens.

I'll take whatever I can get.

At least make the ninth inning interesting.

I mean, look, I'm not going to give

him any more credit for it.

Good fight.

That's another excuse.

Good fight.

Look, here's what I wanted to say, and

this is a little bit, I think, premature

because the Rangers still have a very strong

opportunity to make the playoffs.

I know tonight doesn't feel good, but I

think we have to see the forest for

the trees here.

I don't think we can pretend like the

season's done.

It's not.

You've still got a great chance to make

the playoffs.

It doesn't feel great being tied with the

Astros, not really controlling your own destiny anymore.

You definitely want to try and steal this

game here.

I can't say I feel awesome about a

ninth inning comeback, but you know what?

Miracles can happen.

That being said, I just hope that accountability

is taken.

There's going to be a lot of blame

put on the injuries.

I'm really curious to see if the club

is going to take some accountability for the

appearance tonight, for the game tonight, for the

effort tonight, performance, whatever word.

Sorry, long day.

My vocabulary is failing me.

Are we going to take accountability for the

performance tonight?

Because injury is a really easy grab bag.

Well, we had gore go down and, you

know, Cal Quantrill, Joc Peterson.

You know, we have all these injuries, man.

This is crazy.

Dude, come on.

The injuries really aren't what lost you the

game tonight.

You didn't play well.

You played like crap in a huge game.

In a huge game, you played like straight

up dookie.

I don't know what else you can do,

but own it.

But instead, I know you're going to see

some people, the injuries, man.

It's so tough.

You just can't.

You can't evaluate, you know, Chris Young, the

classic like, man, we just haven't seen everybody

healthy.

Dude, you didn't need to tonight.

If you just could have played like slightly

above little league level defense, you probably could

have won this game.

The defense was horrific.

And the fact that there's only one error

in the error column, like it kind of

tells you all you need to know.

Like the errors, man, just don't always show

up in the scoreboard.

We talk about this all the time.

One error tonight.

That is wild, wild.

Well, I know some of you guys are

asking, well, who do we have injured?

Well, you know, there's obviously Gore got hurt.

Gore couldn't last the whole game, so we

had to throw Evo.

And then we had to throw Robert Garcia.

You know, Joc goes down.

You know, the list goes on.

Obviously, you've got Jack Leiter out.

You've got a lot of pitchers, you know,

dealing with some different injuries, man.

It just doesn't matter.

DeGrom with the groin.

That was the big thing that people were

popping back at me with when DeGrom blew

it the other day.

It's like, oh, DeGrom's groin.

Come on, man.

If you're out there on the mound, we

can't, you know, give you these free outs,

man.

There's left and right, just giving guys these

free passes and excuses.

Well, he's injured, so you can't really expect

him to come out and throw well.

Dude, then why are you on the mound?

Why are you on the mound?

I do feel like there's been this creation

of built-in excuses at times for this

team.

There's no excuse for losing this game.

The Mets are 14 games under 500.

They're bad.

They're terrible.

And if you just would have played fairly

clean defense today, you'd probably win this game.

You'd probably win 3-2.

You might even win 3-1.

Shoot.

Ugh.

Adrian Beltre, this is so hilarious, and I

know, like, can we all just establish, like,

sometimes you just have to laugh.

Like, have some fun.

Not everything is that serious, but I have

to tell you guys a hilarious story.

At least I think it's funny.

So a couple of days ago, you guys

know, some of y'all know, maybe not

on TikTok if you don't follow me on

the other socials, but some of you guys

know I do a lot of Rangers history

posts, and I posted this the other day.

I think it was two days ago.

Adrian Beltre, he hit a two-run homer

in the top of the ninth inning to

walk off the Angels.

More on this in a second.

Skip right now.

It is getting hot.

Laz Díaz, what was the call here?

Let me turn this up.

Story time on pause.

Let's see what's going on here.

Okay, so Ezequiel Duran looked like ball four,

but they are going to call a strikeout

on a foul tip here.

Feels like they could do a crew chief

review.

Oh, my gosh.

We got to see the replay on this.

Man, shame on Zeke a little bit there.

Come on now.

Shame on Zeke a little bit.

Zeke, I get it.

Like, you got to sell it.

Like, dude, what was up with that?

Zeke, come on, dude.

Good acting try by Zeke.

Good acting try.

But dude, really?

Sell it.

Like, sell it initially, but the response afterwards,

dude, that hit your back clear as day,

and you know you felt that.

Oh, my goodness.

That was pretty bad.

I feel bad for Skip that he had

to go out and defend that.

Zeke Duran, come on now, baby.

That is one where you sell it.

Initially, right?

But you know, the reaction was pretty strong

for me.

Dude, it clearly hit off your back.

Come on now.

Back to story time.

We were talking about Adrian Beltre coming out

and playing Hurt, which he did routinely.

So a couple of days ago, again, I

posted Beltre hitting the two-run bomb against

the Angels, top of the ninth inning, and

they ended up winning.

This was like 2012, right?

So this was the year after the two

World Series runs.

Still a really good team, right?

That was still an incredible team.

Beltre hits a two-run bomb night before

he was in the hospital with abdominal issues.

This is Adrian Beltre we're talking about right

now.

Begged Ron Washington to put him back in

the lineup the next day, the night after

being in the hospital.

Then comes back and hits a two-run

bomb.

This is the legend of Adrian Beltre we're

talking about.

Nicky Lopez, by the way, going to be

hit right here by a bouncing ball.

Senga a little bit wild right now, so

Rangers have a run here.

My wife's first comment after I was telling

her about the Beltre story, it totally unprompted.

And this is just having fun, right?

Please don't take things too seriously.

Wife's first comment after I tell her about

this legendary Beltre story, she's like, Corey Seager

would never.

He would never.

Hospital bed night before, begging to be in

the lineup the next day.

He was like, half these guys on the

team would never.

And I have to laugh because you know

what?

There's some truth to what she's saying.

There are a lot of dudes that would

not be doing what Adrian Beltre did.

And this was, again, 14 years ago, just

a couple of days back.

Beltre was one of one, man.

He's hall of famer for a freaking reason.

Beltre in the hospital the night before with

abdominal issues, comes back the next day, hits

a two run bomb in the ninth regular

season game.

Mind you, this isn't playoffs.

It wasn't playoffs at all.

Regular season game in September.

Beltre was one of one.

And I do totally agree with my wife.

There's a lot of players.

They're a legend.

Alejandro Osuna going to strike out swinging here,

unfortunately.

And the Rangers are not down to their

final out.

You have Danny Jansen up to bat.

If anybody gets on, Wyatt Langford will be

there.

Beltre, Jay Rock, a hundred percent.

He's the Cal Ripken type.

One hundred percent.

Nimmo, you might be right.

And look, big text, to be fair, TikTok

comment here.

To be fair, I didn't say everybody on

the team would do the opposite of what

Beltre did.

I do think we've got some dogs on

this team.

I don't feel like it's the majority, but

I do feel like there are some dogs

on this team that would want in anyways.

Look, just fun stuff, man.

You gotta laugh sometimes.

There's truth.

I think there's a little bit of truth

to every joke.

And I think there's a lot in that

one.

Classic stuff from my wife, man.

She's great.

Look, we're going to finish this one out.

If you're just joining us, 6-3.

Rangers are down.

Astros, unfortunately, with a pretty big lead on

the Mariners, we're going to need quite the

comeback here.

Astros have 10 hits through not even their

first four innings they came to play today.

Rangers did not.

Rangers are still on the off day, sadly.

Here's the pitch to Jansen, 2-0.

You're going to take strike one.

DJ has 0-1 on the game so

far today.

Did have a walk earlier, so he hasn't

been totally unproductive today.

Going to need to do something here to

keep this train moving.

Swing, and he got jammed here.

This one is going to be a fly

ball to the left.

Actually gave it a little bit of a

ride.

Did not think it was going to carry

that much, but that is game.

The Mets are going to take this one

6-3.

Rangers, at one point, led 3-2.

Meltdown by the bullpen, meltdown by the defense,

and another no-show from the offense.

Three hits tonight.

Pitching and starting pitching, about the only part

of the team that showed up today, sadly.

A lot of 0-4.

Corey Seeger, 0-4, Jake Burger, 0-4

-4.

Corey Seeger and Jake Burger, 0-8 with

six strikeouts tonight.

That's your two, and that's your four hitter,

by the way.

Wyatt Langford, 0-3, did have the sack

fly, fortunately.

So you have Langford, Seeger, and Burger going

a combined 0-11 with nine strikeouts.

Oh, that's not good.

Oh, that is painful.

Three of your biggest hitters against lefties.

Burger, to me, gets held to a higher

standard against Southpaws.

Burger against righties, I don't rate, and I

don't count on Burger against righties.

So I definitely have a little bit of

a different lens when it's a lefty starter

versus a righty starter when it comes to

the Rangers first baseman.

But against lefties, I expect good stuff from

Jake.

This is where he makes his money, man.

This is where he brings home the bacon.

And when you have your cleanup hitter, Jake

Burger, going 0-4 with three Ks, it's

going to happen, but it's just not ideal.

It's bad timing.

Yeah, you can definitely look at other components

of the team, but when you've got Langford,

Seeger, Burger, 0-11, nine Ks, nine Ks,

they put the ball in play twice.

Those three hitters combined ball in play two

times.

Justin Foscue, 0-2.

Foscue, bad AB earlier on in the game,

right?

I posted about it.

Seven pitch at bat.

Two of the seven pitches were strikes, and

he watched both of them.

That was with runners on base.

Not great.

Foscue and Burger, to me, they just have

such a high standard when they're playing lefties

because they stink against righties.

You have to come through, especially at this

time of the season.

You don't have any more runway, man.

It's now or never.

And so I know some people are going

to come at me like, it's way too

harsh.

Austin, you're being way too harsh.

Man, there's five games left.

There's five games left.

Of course it needs to be harsh.

That's the one thing I just have no

time for this week are the fans that

are going to try and pretend like this

is a game in April.

I've already railed on that mentality anyways.

The games in April count the same as

the games in September.

Some people don't realize that.

I've tried to teach it.

It doesn't always happen.

Doesn't always get through to people.

But man, there's no time to play this

out.

You have to be good right now.

Everybody is held to a higher standard right

now.

And so some people don't want to hear

it, don't want to be negative.

We got to call this out on the

carpet, man.

This was a disgusting effort.

I am with, Austin, I'm with you on

this one.

Facebook comment here, pathetic, disgusting effort.

I do think that I would probably say

spot on.

You guys know I try to keep it

nice as much as I possibly can, but

even I've had to get real.

This was a soil the bed performance, as

I like to say.

It just was.

There is not a lot of redeeming qualities

to this game besides, I would say, Mackenzie

Gore.

Gore to me is the redeeming quality, but

redeeming qualities don't get you October right now.

But MacKenzie Gore and what he did, playing

hurt, pitching hurt, I think you've got to

show him some love.

I definitely know that that's not going to

be the direction that we go a lot

tonight.

But the positive here, I mean, let's give

MacKenzie Gore's flowers a little bit here, man.

He pitched hurt, gave up two hits, and

only allowed what, five base runners, five innings.

Pretty solid for him.

Two runs, one earned.

Defense just didn't pick him up today.

A lot of other performances you just kind

of hold your nose at, honestly.

Sorry about the bugs flying around in here.

All y'all know, humble beginnings here at

Right on Rangers.

We're out in the garage chilling right now.

It's finally getting a little cooler in Vegas,

thank goodness.

And when I say cooler, I mean like

90s, all summer long, 110, 115, baby.

Finally, we're getting in the 90s.

Feels like wintertime right now.

I know some of y'all can relate

with those Texas summers.

I'll never forget it, man.

Growing up in Arlington and cutting grass in

the summers in Texas.

It seasoned me well for later in life.

It really did.

Oh, man.

Hey, appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Not the circumstances that we want to be

hanging out in, obviously, but looking like Rangers

are probably going to be even with the

Strohs unless the Mariners can really mount a

pretty big comeback here.

Not totally out of the question, but the

Astros right now, four to nothing, 10 hits

through the first four innings.

Crazy.

Hey, Lane, appreciate the gift, man.

Thank you so much.

Not needed, but much appreciated, but thank you.

Drop a comment, drop a question, y'all.

We're going to be at this for probably,

let's see, another half an hour or so.

We're fully in postgame at this point.

Of all the, I think, definitely a guy

we need to talk about, Jim, what's good,

man?

Thanks for the comments.

Evo just doesn't look quite right.

I mean, yesterday, or what was it, a

couple of games ago, he pitched, did get

a pretty big strikeout with runners on, I

think, first and second or second and third,

but Evo just hasn't looked totally sharp, hasn't

looked totally sharp at this point.

I know he's still getting the rust off.

He was out of the game, injured on

the injured list for a while, and I

know he's still getting his feet under him,

but it's just not been crisp since he

came back, and I know that they trust

Evo.

I know that Evo's got a lot of

accomplishments in the game, and I think a

lot of Rangers fans feel pretty good when

Evo's out there, but the reality is he

has been a little rusty since coming back

from the IL, not necessarily super trustworthy out

there.

I just think he's going to probably need

a little bit more time, and you would

think they're going to need him to start.

I was actually really surprised that Evo came

into the game today.

I thought they would need him on Thursday

for sure.

Maybe he'll still pitch Thursday.

I don't know how many pitches he threw

tonight.

We'll look it up box score real quick.

Looks like he was at 29 pitches.

Wow, that's actually a little bit, I don't

know.

Hopefully he'll still be good maybe to throw

on Thursday or Friday, but man, 29 pitches

today, probably a little bit more than you

were wanting Eovaldi to throw at this point.

Cody Facebook comment here.

First place was fun while it lasted.

It was fun while it lasted.

I had a good time in first place,

but we're getting humbled once again here, Rangers

Nation.

We're getting humbled.

Back to what?

One game below 500?

Oh man, this season, am I right?

This season, what a roller coaster.

Rangers 78 and 79 lost two in a

row.

You have the game tomorrow night, same time

Mets, and then you have a day game

on Wednesday.

It's just the effort, man.

You just really wanted to see, really wanted

to see the Rangers come out strong, come

out like today is the start of the

playoffs.

By the way, did anybody else have the

thought, did anybody else have the thought all

of the different advertising they're doing for the

wildcard round and the ALDS?

Dude, no.

Stop.

Jinx.

That was the first thing that came to

my mind when RSN is advertising playoff tickets.

I'm like, don't do it.

Stop.

Shut up.

Quit.

Don't talk about playoffs yet.

I don't know.

I know they got to start doing it,

but it feels like such a jinx to

me when you are pumping promos for playoff

tickets and you still have six games left

in the season.

Very much not a shoe in to make

the playoffs anyways.

I know they have to do it.

I get it.

I know probably every team does it.

I'm just giving you my take.

I don't like it now.

Look, the Rangers were clinching seven games up.

Sure.

Don't love it when the playoffs are very

much not a guarantee at this point.

Totally get that.

Every team's required to do it again.

As we said a little bit earlier, like

take the take down just a notch.

The level of seriousness, man, it's, it's not

that deep.

I get every team probably has to do

it.

I just don't personally like to see it.

Yeah.

Harry makes a point here.

2015 ALDS game five.

Oh, that's a painful one.

That is a painful one, man.

The meltdown in Toronto.

Yeah.

Just not a great day.

They're showing some of the defensive plays right

now.

Not great from a team that was supposed

to come out and really take the bull

by the horns and create some separation.

And you were just hoping for a comeback

from the Mariners here.

Mariners.

Let's go get some runs here.

Get some runs.

It's four to nothing.

Mariners have a runner on first base.

Let's go a little two run bomb here.

We'll keep you posted.

If anything crazy happens.

Uh, green arrow.

What's good.

Don't see Astros winning even four games of

the six.

I think that the Astros will definitely win

at least three.

I don't see them having a losing record

this week.

We'll just see if the Rangers can match

it.

Three and three seems like definitely a get

for the Strohs.

Four and two doesn't feel out of the

question.

You win tonight's game.

I mean, look, you just got to win

three more to go four and two.

That's definitely not out of the question at

all.

It's going to be dicey.

I just hate that the Rangers don't control

their own destiny anymore.

You have a tie if the Rangers, uh,

if the Astros hold this lead, this four

nothing lead, you have a tie between the

Rangers and the Astros for the division.

But because the Astros have the tiebreaker Astros

would be moving on, right?

Rangers are going to have to figure out

a way here.

You got to get back on track quickly.

You've dropped the last two games.

The vibes were high.

You dropped the last two.

You got to get back on track.

Have to, it's just disappointing.

This has kind of been what the Rangers

have done a lot.

You have an opportunity to step on the

gas and instead you pump the brake, you

let your foot off, you know, what, whatever

analogy you want to throw in there.

It's just been what the Rangers have done

so often this year.

I am sticking to my guns.

I think it just doesn't make sense, but

I feel like Texas finds a way they

either get really good fortune or man, they

just managed to catch a hot streak at

the end.

I'm holding out.

Hope I'm not giving up.

I know better.

This team is such a weird team.

Nothing will surprise me.

I'm not going to be shocked out of

my mind if they nosedive it and don't

end up making the playoffs.

It's not going to shock me in the

slightest.

If they do, I think this team keeps

you guessing.

That is the one consistent thing about this

club.

They, they keep you guessing.

They find different ways to win or lose

every single night.

And tonight the defense lost you this game

along with the bats only collecting three hits.

Uh, let's see.

There is a reason they have to win

all five left only way in.

I don't know if they have to win

all five Matt YouTube comment there.

I do think you've got to go four

and two to really have a shot.

I think four and two will put you

in decent position, but losing tonight just really

puts you at an instant disadvantage, but four

and two feels like that could get the

job done.

I don't know that Houston goes five and

one.

They could, but five and one while we

go four and two, that, that would be

kind of a hats off for me.

I do think winning five, going five and

one would absolutely be a game changer.

I don't think the Rangers are going to

do it.

I would be very surprised a little bit

shocked if they went five in a row

here.

I know they just won four in a

row recently, but I just don't feel like

five in a row is probably in the

cards.

I think you're probably going to have to

go four and two and hope that the

Astros match that, that they lose two of

their next five games.

And you just find a way.

I don't know.

I do think that two games lost for

the Astros is probably the max.

I will agree, but baseball is crazy, man.

It doesn't make a lot of sense.

I just don't see the Rangers winning five

in a row though.

And so if you feel like convicted, they've

got to win five in a row.

I would say start lowering the expectations, man.

I just, I don't see them doing that.

You guys know, I try to be optimistic

and positive, but I also try to be

somewhat realistic.

I just don't see that happening right now.

Let's see.

We got, by the way, Mariners, the threat

over going to the top of the fifth

inning.

Now they had at least one runner on

and it was not meant to be.

All right.

I am continuing to check comments.

Apparently somebody said a TikTok comment.

Don't see the Astros losing to the A's.

Apparently the Astros have struggled against the A's

this year.

I had a couple different Astros accounts that

actually come in and provide like substance, which

isn't a ton of Astros accounts if we're

being honest, but there's a few out there

that I enjoy interacting with.

And basically they said that they've had some

trouble with the A's this year.

I didn't confirm that.

So take that for what it's worth.

The Astros have not cakewalked against the A's

this year, much like the Rangers haven't either.

So we'll see what happens.

We will see what happens.

We're horrible against the A's and the Mariners.

Jordan Glazer, what's good, man?

This is one of the accounts, again, I'm

telling you, there's a few Astros accounts of

substance.

Most of them just come in and troll

and leave.

Only come on and show up whenever the

Rangers take an L.

Look, I get it.

I really do.

But I appreciate you, my guy.

Thanks for hanging out tonight.

Look, everybody, it feels like at the top

of the division, Astros, Rangers has struggled against

the A's and the Mariners a little bit

this year.

The A's especially.

A's have been a nuisance to Texas all

season.

And it apparently is the same thing for

Houston as well.

So it's going to be an interesting finish.

I think Astros at worst are going to

go probably four and two.

I don't see them finishing much worse than

that.

Three and three, sure, maybe.

But I think Astros probably go four and

two.

So the question is, are the Rangers going

to match that?

You can only lose one more game out

of the five to make that happen.

I think five and one could definitely be

a possibility for Houston as well.

They can string together some wins.

There's no doubt about that.

But I just don't think the Rangers win

five in a row.

If that's what you think they need to

do, I gotta help you lower the expectations

right now.

Let's keep rolling.

Angels actually had a winning record versus the

Rangers this season.

Green Arrow, you're right about that.

Just driving the knife, aren't you, my guy?

Rangers just were terrible against bad teams.

It felt like just terrible.

Black Mantis, what's good, man?

Look, a lot of you guys are telling

me we have a lot of Astros fans

that have told me this.

Maybe they're going for the reverse jinx here.

They're going to go into Sacramento and just

sweep them.

And the Rangers are just going to be

devastated.

Look, I don't want to think about that,

but it's a real possibility.

Texas has just been so inconsistent this year.

I know I keep saying that, but nothing

would surprise me when it comes to this

team.

I could see the Rangers winning four of

the next five, making it.

I could see them losing four of the

next five.

And we're all just talking about the grand

implosion of the Texas Rangers in 2026.

There's going to be no shock, no surprise

either way.

Caden, what's good?

Caden says Langford should be nowhere near the

leadoff spot.

Langford, to me, I definitely think leadoff spot

is a bit of a knee-jerk reaction.

He's had some good ABs and he's gotten

on base a lot via the walk lately,

but I think this is a case of

just skip trying anything, like literally anything to

jumpstart this offense.

So Rangers had three hits tonight, right?

And we'll go to the past games and

kind of give you the rundown as best

as we can.

So three hits tonight on Sunday.

Rangers, actually, hang on.

I went way too far back.

My goodness.

Apologies.

Sunday, they had eight.

Not bad.

Saturday, five.

Yeah.

I mean, look, the numbers, it's like every

other game they have below five hits.

Against the Red Sox on Thursday, the game

that they lost, another tragic one.

Jacob Latz giving up the three-run bomb,

right?

That'd be nice to have that game back.

Latzy, we love you.

Man, that was a tough one.

That was a four-hitter.

Saturday was a five-hitter.

You had, obviously, Monday off, but today, the

three-hitter.

It's like every other game, the Rangers are

getting less than five hits.

It's just not going to work.

Not going to work.

The Twins at the end of the season.

Some of you guys are talking about the

Twins at the end of the season.

Rangers on the road.

It has not been pretty.

They are not a winning team on the

road.

That's just objective fact.

The Rangers are not a winning baseball team

when they leave the friendly confines of Globe

Life Field.

They are 34-44, 10 games below 500

when they are away from Globe Life.

Langford, though, in the leadoff spot, bringing it

full circle.

I just think they're trying everything.

I don't necessarily love it either, but they're

just trying anything right now, man.

Maybe you put Nimmo back in the leadoff

spot.

Not that he's been stellar over the last

month, but maybe you throw Nimmo back in

the last seven games.

The OPS is like 606.

There's only a few guys that are really

going well right now.

Really, maybe only one.

Josh Jung feels like the only guy that's

really consistently hitting right now.

Zeke Duran has kind of been on a

little bit of a slide.

Corey Seager has been on a little bit

of a slide.

His numbers were looking really good.

He's dipped.

Wyatt Langford, he's had some good games recently,

but he's batting 191 over his last 15.

There's so much of this.

Yep, Jimmy, I'm with you on this YouTube

comment.

I'm not going to be shocked either way.

A lot of you guys are with me.

I'm going to stick by my prediction that

the Rangers, just because baseball, they find a

way in, but I can't say that I

would go and bet the mortgage on it.

That would be probably the furthest thing that

I would be doing with this team.

I like to put my $20 bet on

them to win the World Series every year

just because, just a tradition I've had since

I've been out here in Vegas.

I always put a 20 spot on the

Rangers.

I don't think I'd be putting much more

than that if I was betting cold right

now.

Oh, gosh.

Yep, G-Man nailed it.

A lot of you guys nailed it.

Skip, we've been playing good fundamental baseball lately,

but we have to flush it.

That's all you can do, flush it.

Yep.

Yep.

Look, it was bad tonight.

You had Nimmo and Zeke out there.

I mean, I know there's a miscommunication.

Some people are blaming Zeke.

Dude, I'm old school.

If the ball hits your glove, catch the

ball, man.

I can't tell you.

I don't know if my pops is watching

right now.

He likes to chime in every once in

a while, but pops, you taught me well.

If the ball hits your glove, catch the

ball.

Maybe there's a certain cuss word in there.

I don't know.

I'm editing it out a little bit.

I'm just messing.

My dad was great teaching me the game

and played a ton of catch with me.

Man, but I just remember, and a lot

of my coaches too, I'm sure you guys

had some of them.

Catch the ball.

If it hits your glove, you could have

caught it.

So I'm not really here to buy into

Zeke Duran.

He should have gotten out of the way.

Catch the ball, man.

The burger play was bad too.

Swolger, I'm with you on that.

Thanks for the YouTube comment.

Burger play was bad.

Josh Jung misses a bad throw.

Should've had a double play there.

You had Justin Foscue, you know, wimping out.

It was just a comedy of errors.

I mean, look, put a tent on that

circus, man.

Put a tent on the circus tonight.

That's what it was.

It was a circus tonight.

Not great baseball and really probably the primary

reason you lost.

It feels like all those errors combined at

least are worth the three runs, the three

run margin that the Mets won by tonight.

Jimmy, appreciate the gift, man.

This is hilarious.

Thank you so much, brother.

Not needed, but much appreciated, my friend.

Comment from Jimmy here, YouTube.

$1, that's about all I'm betting on the

Rangers right now.

Look, I know that some people don't want

to see smiles and laughs after a game

like this.

Look, we're not in the locker room.

I would agree.

I wouldn't want to see smiles and laughs

coming out of the Rangers locker room tonight.

That's their job.

This is a little bit different, man.

We got to cope in whatever ways we

can watching the 2026 Rangers.

I always tell you guys I vacillate, man.

Sometimes, some nights I'm just pissed off.

Some nights I'm depressed.

Obviously, when they win, we're elated, we're excited.

And then there are some nights you just

have to find the joy in whatever you

can.

And I appreciate some of you making it

a little light, man.

It'd be easy to sit here and just

be pissed off the entire time.

For me, we definitely can call things out,

but I always tell you guys, this is

therapy.

When they lose a game like this, I

always feel better when I get off the

show.

You just get it all off your chest.

You get to know that you're not alone.

You're not going crazy with some of the

things you're thinking during the game.

I appreciate you guys so much.

You know that.

Tsugi says, Skip, GPT ball is clearly not

about playing fundamental baseball.

How many games have we lost due to

us kicking the ball around?

Bochy squads didn't pull this garbage.

I mean, it is true that the defense

was better last year.

The defense was way better under Bochy's tenure

than it is this year.

Now it's one year for Skip, but I

will say, I think Skip ball just in

general got overhyped.

Like you had so much made in the

off season and they are going to run

the bases better.

They're going to take the extra base.

They're going to steal more bases.

They're going to be really good defensively, blah,

blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, man.

There was so much made about Skip's philosophy

and it's just all kind of gone backwards

this year.

If we're keeping it a buck, man, it's,

it's gone backwards.

They've been more conservative on the base pass

than they were under Bochy.

They've stolen less bases.

They've taken the extra base less.

They've been worse defensively.

Like all the things you thought were going

to get better under Skip.

Not that the defense really could get a

whole lot better.

The defense won the team gold glove last

year.

Like the defense was never going to get

a whole lot better.

I guess naturally you could probably make a

solid inference conclusion.

It was going to get worse.

Kind of like how I felt about the

pitching this year.

So many Rangers fans in the off season

told me like, bro, the pitching it's, it's

going to be elite.

And I just said, lovingly, it's not going

to be as good.

It would just be hard for them to

repeat how good the pitching was last year.

And I feel the same way about the

defense, but I didn't expect it to fall

off this much.

Like I didn't expect this much of a

fall off defensively.

This isn't just like a little bit worse

than the gold glove team last year.

This is like much worse.

It really is.

And errors are not going to tell the

whole story because I know some people are

going to clap back at me, bro.

Look at the fielding percentage.

If you've watched, watched the show enough times,

you know, never use fielding percentage as a

defensive argument when it comes to baseball.

And I'm not like a hardcore analytic stat

nerd.

I'm really not, but there are so many

times where they give a base hit to

a player where it was clearly an error.

You know, somebody booted the ball, made a

bad throw.

And the hometown scoreboard guy, the hometown score,

official score decides to give a base knock.

I'm never trusting errors in fielding percentage.

When I'm making my arguments, the errors are

not going to show up enough for this

20, 20, 16.

The errors are going to be generous for

me.

I definitely feel like the drop off has

been considerable from last year's gold glove team.

And the pitching has been a considerable drop

off as well.

I mean, think about it.

You had Eovaldi, what in the ones with

the ERA wasn't Eovaldi sub two ERA last

year.

DeGrom was sub three ERA last year.

You had a number of other guys.

Jack Leiter was sub four ERA last year.

I mean, you had three really solid pitchers

at the top of the rotation.

You did.

And you know, you had your good moments

with Tyler Malley before his injury.

Tyler Malley was lights out at different times

last year.

And he's having a really good run for

the Braves right now after getting traded from

the Giants.

We keep rolling.

Harry, I appreciate the comment here.

TikTok comment.

Skip doesn't think they did that bad.

Apparently a couple of miscues and some really

good at bats.

I just don't love the lack of accountability.

It's okay to say that this was unacceptable

tonight.

If there's any game where you kind of

light the team on fire, it feels like

it's this one.

And when I say that, I, it's from

that perspective, we're capable of so much better.

Like we're, we're capable of so much better

than this.

And man, we really let MacKenzie Gore down

tonight.

Like, obviously all we can do is move

on to the next game, but we let

this one get away from us.

This was a winnable baseball game and we

didn't support MacKenzie Gore and the ballsy gutsy

outing that he gave us this evening.

What would be the harm in that?

If you have a player that is so

soft that they take offense at comments like

that from the manager, do you really want

that player in the locker room?

If you got that big of a softy

that hears the words that I just spoke

and gets in their feelings about it when

it's obvious to everyone, including the fans, just

how ugly the performance was.

It's just disingenuous.

I mean, look, my coaches always kept it

real.

I can only talk from my own experience.

And I know a lot of y'all

had those old school hard-nosed coaches as

well.

I know you got to play the media

game a little bit.

I really do get that, but what player

in that locker room is going to be

incensed that Skip Schumaker said this game was

disappointing and it's not an acceptable effort.

It's not.

I mean, look, MBJ appreciate the YouTube comment

here.

MBJ says even burger is saying flush it.

Well, yeah, I mean, they, they all hear

that a million times, man.

They they're all in lockstep with, with the

language, with the coach speak, man.

They are all in lockstep with that.

I mean, look, there's a few guys I

think that, that do have that dog in

them that are probably maybe making it a

little bit vocal, making it a little bit

known, like, really?

Like, you know, we talked about Adrian Beltre

earlier on the show, you know, Beltran would

be lighting it on fire right now.

Like, you know, he would, NY would be

doing the same thing.

Mike young would be lighting it on fire

right now.

They know their times to do it.

I'm not saying that they're, you know, that,

that they're drill sergeants in there constantly, but

those guys knew when something needed to be

said and they weren't afraid to say it.

And it's well-documented.

This isn't just me, you know, nostalgia, rose

colored glasses here with NY and Beltran.

I mean, those guys were leaders in the

clubhouse that would speak up and let you

know, there's a standard around here and they

had their own way of doing it.

They did it often behind closed doors, sometimes

in front of everybody to see.

We talked about the Beltran and Odor incident

about 10 years ago when Odor in the

late innings got gunned down at second base.

Like it was a terrible decision for him

to go.

Odor eventually came back and hit a game

winning home run, but Beltran, I mean, on

camera in the dugout, talking to him, going

through, dude, come on, we gotta be better.

They really don't have that kind of dude

right now.

And that's just the culture and the clubhouse

that they built up.

I'm sure they have some guys in the

locker room that talk.

I'm not in the locker room, full disclosure.

I mean, look, I know that some people,

uh, some media will push back on me

a little bit like, dude, you don't know

you're not there.

Yeah.

I feel like it would be at least

a little bit more obvious if there really

was this vocal leader that was always stepping

up.

It would be a little more obvious than

what it is right now.

It's not very obvious.

And I think the logical conclusion is it's

not very obvious because there's not really that

kind of person right now.

It's not really that kind of leader.

There's a couple of guys that are viewed

as leaders, but it's more of a lead

by example, not necessarily a vocal, strong leadership.

There's maybe a few guys in there, but

you're not hearing very much of it.

You're really not.

And it doesn't help when you're not playing

well.

And when you're not playing well and you're

trying to do the rah-rah thing, you're

trying to use your voice.

If you're not really in a good clip,

if you're not really playing great baseball, it's

hard to do that.

It really is.

A couple of you guys are asking about

Gore.

They pulled Gore out of precaution.

Gore, I think, wanted to go back out

there.

I'm pretty sure Gore did want to go

back out there for whatever reason.

It did not end up happening.

They decided, we got to save him.

We got to save him up for later

in the season.

Rangers, sometimes it does feel like they think

they're playing with a couple of months left

to spare.

Look, the MacKenzie Gore performance tonight, it's really

hard to speak against it.

I really felt like he answered the bell

today.

It's too bad his body failed him, but

it feels like MacKenzie Gore, one of the

few bright spots of this ballgame tonight really

was.

Brandon Nimmo, I know, had a couple of

hits.

And you had two Rangers get hits tonight.

This gets worse the more I look at

this box score.

I just want to close out of this

thing.

Nimmo and Young were the only players that

got a base hit tonight.

Oh, this is painful.

So yeah, Gore did his job, right?

Five innings, one earned run, all 77 pitches,

clearly pitching hurt.

That is the frustrating part here.

You just, you did not get buried by

the starting pitching.

You got buried by bad defense and the

bullpen letting up even a little bit more.

The pitching to me, definitely from a starter

perspective, good enough to win the offense and

the defense, just total letdowns.

Look, hope that Gore is okay.

They will probably need him again.

They don't have a lot of healthy starting

pitching right now.

You hope that he will be able to

make his next start, which will probably be

season on the line in Minnesota.

I'm sure that is what it's going to

be.

It would line up right now, Wednesday, Thursday,

Friday, Gore would be 162.

That's how it would work out, right?

Gore would be your game 162 guy.

I mean, look, hate that or love it.

It's probably going to be what it is

at this point.

I mean, it'll be all hands on deck

if they need game 162, but that seems

to be what it's trending towards.

Sixth inning really flipped everything.

We're just doing some recap here.

Texas had the 3-2 lead.

Eovaldi came in.

I was feeling pretty good when Evo came

in.

I'm not going to lie.

I felt pretty good.

Three hits, three earned runs, and a walk

in one inning later, I wasn't feeling quite

as good.

Francisco Alvarez, he had a nice game for

the Mets today, didn't he?

He had two hits, two for five, two

RBI.

That was kind of the undoing in that

sixth frame.

Evo in that spot I think is a

questionable decision, if we're being honest.

You had the idea.

I know I did.

Maybe we save Evo for Thursday's game.

You can use him in Thursday's ballgame.

Cody Bradford, by the way, is just having

been announced as the starter for tomorrow.

We got Cody throwing in Wednesday's game, Thursday

still to be determined.

Maybe it'll still be Evo.

Maybe it'll be Evo on Friday, but definitely

a curious move to use Eovaldi.

I think it's hard to argue with just

because of where the Rangers are at in

the season.

You need wins, and there's not a whole

lot more guys you feel good about throwing

in that spot than Nasty Nate, but I

do think it's a debatable issue.

Should you have really used Eovaldi?

That to me is questionable.

I do think that at this point hindsight

is 20-20, but at the time even

I was thinking, don't you want to save

this guy for Thursday, for Friday?

Maybe he'll still end up pitching.

Maybe that will be a possibility here.

I definitely don't think it's totally off the

table, but I did think, man, it's kind

of an interesting move.

Sugi says, YouTube comment here, every bullpen, almost

every bullpen decision from SkipGBT is questionable.

I mean, you're not totally off base there.

You're really not.

Jimmy says, I think the offense forgot yesterday

was the off day.

Yeah, I think they were still on the

off day today.

Doesn't it seem, swolgerass, that Evo is pitching

too much lately?

Yeah, I mean, that's kind of how I

feel.

Today felt like a little bit stretching into

overuse, but according to Skip, not the case,

not the case.

All right, let's keep on rolling here.

We're wrapping up the show.

We've been going almost an hour.

Lefty matchup just didn't cash in.

I know I posted a video today saying

I actually felt better about the lefty matchup

than I do about the righty matchup these

days.

You got Burger, you got Foscue in the

lineup.

You eliminate Evan Carter, who I like, but

isn't really much of a hitter at this

point in the 2026 season.

Feels like the lefty lineup is the lineup

you actually prefer, but they did not hold

up their end of the bargain tonight.

I mean, the lefty lineup is not automatic,

don't get me wrong, but there's just not

any margin for error right now.

You got to win games.

And so the pressure naturally is increased.

Burger 0-3, Foscue 0-2, your two

lefty crushers.

I mean, Josh Jung is probably the ultimate

lefty crusher.

Foscue definitely getting his flowers throughout the year.

But at this point, when you have that

many guys go over, you had two guys

that didn't go over tonight.

That is just not going to win you

a lot of ballgames.

I don't have to tell you that twice.

It's not rocket science.

When you have two out of nine guys

getting hits, probably not going to be a

great game.

Three hits, three runs today.

It's just going to be hard to win

a division race when you do that.

It just is.

Now, moving on, Nimmo, former team.

Nimmo definitely had a nice little ballgame when

you look at it.

I know one of the hits was a

little bit of a bloop, but you had

a couple of hits.

Nice game from the plate.

Defense was, I think, a little bit questionable.

Dropping the fly ball out there.

I said during the game, one of the

posts that I threw out there, I'm not

sure who's higher on the priority list to

get off the field next year.

Keeping the lineup, maybe, but get off the

field.

Is it Brandon Nimmo in right field, or

is it Josh Jung at third base?

Both of those players showing you today why

you're not necessarily in love with the glove.

You're not.

You are a little bit at this point,

I think, eyebrow raised, unsure what is going

to transpire next year.

Are these guys going to bounce back a

little bit after down years defensively, or are

we going to see more of the same?

I got to say, at this point, I'm

feeling like the latter is probably going to

be true.

I don't necessarily see some big defensive resurgence

coming from either of these players.

It's going to be interesting.

I know a couple of you guys were

asking about Walcott.

I've already said, I think Walcott needs to

be your starting third baseman in 2027.

I don't think Seager is moving off shortstop,

but I'd love to see them get Walcott

at third.

A couple of people pointed out to me,

DM me and said, Austin, I love Walcott.

I love the bat, but he has not

been incredible defensively.

I think that's fair, as I did my

homework.

I don't think Walcott has been a gem

defensively this year.

Granted, he hasn't played a lot defensively.

I do like some of the things that

definitely are a part of his game and

graded well.

He's got a great arm.

We know that he's athletic.

We know that he's got good range.

The smoothness with the glove, all that stuff,

maybe the jury's out there, but we know

he has the tools.

I think that that in and of itself

makes him an upgrade over Josh.

Can you move Josh to DH?

Can you move him to first base?

Those things are going to be determined after

the season is over.

The defense has to get better next year.

They might be able to pull something out

of their hat or this season moving forward,

but they've got to find ways to improve

the defense next year.

Look, first place may be relinquished tonight.

Astros are now up 5-0.

Rangers are going to be most likely even

with the Strohs if this result holds.

Because of the tiebreaker, if the season ended

today and the Astros current score holds, you

would be out of the playoffs.

Rangers still have a lot of hope in

front of them.

You have five games left.

You do have to be better than the

Astros one game out of the five.

That's not totally undoable.

I do think the Rangers still have a

very good shot to make it to October.

Are they going to go on some epic

run and be back in the World Series?

I don't know about that.

I'm not sitting here proclaiming that by any

means.

I think the Rangers, you never know what

can happen when you get in, but right

now this team is continuing to show you

what they have all season.

They can look good certain nights.

They can look really bad on other nights.

You got, unfortunately, the second option.

You got the bad tonight.

Bad defense, bad hitting.

Pitching was all right, but you're not going

to win a lot of games when you

have bad defense in the field and when

you don't have good nights up at the

plate.

We already kind of talked about Cal Q

a little bit, but Quantrill likely going to

be out for the entire season.

He was moved to the 60-day IL.

Mike Helman brought up, I don't have a

lot of time to go off on this,

but a little surprised that Cam Cauley didn't

get called up over Mike Helman.

I just feel like, what does Cam Cauley

not give you that Michael Helman does?

What does Michael Helman do that much better

than Cam Cauley?

He's not faster than Cam Cauley.

Cam Cauley is one of, if not the

fastest player in the major leagues.

If you didn't know, he is 100th percentile

in sprint speed in the major leagues, Cam

Collie.

Cam can play infield.

He can play outfield.

Mike Helman does the same thing.

Neither one of them at this point has

a great consistent bat.

I just don't get why you wouldn't bring

Cam Cauley up.

He just won MVP for Round Rock in

2026.

What better reward could you give him than

letting him be a part of this final

week of the season?

Mike Helman has been on the injured list

the entire year, it feels like.

It just seems like an odd move to

me.

Why wouldn't you reward the young prospect that

just won Round Rock MVP?

I'm not making that up.

He literally just got awarded that.

He's the fastest player in the major leagues.

Definitely top three if you don't want to

give him the title of fastest.

He can play the outfield.

He can play the infield.

I mean, talk about a guy that just

hasn't really been given a runway.

I'm not talking about everyday starts.

I'm talking about a refined role.

Dustin Foscue, he's not starting every day, but

he's been given a runway.

He's been given a refined role to succeed.

Why on earth are we calling up Mike

Hellman and leaving Cam Cauley on the couch?

You can't come at me with development.

Round Rock season is over.

There's no at-bats to be had in

Round Rock or in Frisco.

He's sitting on the couch.

Now, I mean, knowing Cam, he's probably busting

his butt right now, grinding, but nevertheless, I

just don't understand that move.

It is a head-scratcher to me.

Cam Cauley should be up right now, and

you should be using him where you can,

putting him in good spots to succeed.

I just don't understand the team's need to

make sure that Mike Helman gets his roster

spot.

Give Cam Cauley an opportunity, man.

I'm with you.

Sergio, it could be a spark.

It could be the spark that the Rangers

need.

I hope Mike Helman comes out tomorrow and

hits two or three bombs and makes me

eat a massive plate of crow.

I just don't understand.

What is Mike Helman really giving you over

Cameron Cauley, who's had an incredible season?

You're talking about, and I know I've spoken

a lot about a meritocracy and how the

Rangers sometimes don't abide by it.

Meritocracy meaning players earn their playing time based

on merit, based on things actually accomplished on

the field.

It doesn't feel like it's been a meritocracy

this year across the board for the Rangers.

You have name brand players continuing to get

AB after AB, playing time after playing time

without really having gotten great results.

Cam Cauley, he's done everything you've asked of

him, yet he hasn't raked in the major

leagues because you haven't given him a shot.

He won 2026 MVP at Round Rock.

Dude should be at least on the bench

in the major leagues right now.

There's no reason why Mike Helman needed to

come up over Cam Cauley.

I just can't be convinced of that.

I'm sorry.

Maybe they don't want to see Mike Helman

lead the organization.

I'm pretty sure he has a couple of

options though.

Like that's what's even more confusing to me.

It's not like you've got a DFA, Mike.

He's got, I think, two minor league options,

maybe one because you've used this as the

option year.

So maybe only one, but he's got send

-down opportunity.

It's not like you have to get rid

of him.

I don't understand it, and I'm not going

to.

It's just another one of those moves that

you really are not going to get coming

from CY, coming from the front office.

I can't be convinced otherwise, man.

Cam Cauley should be up with this team,

helping him.

Meanwhile, TikTok, I'm in here.

Evan Carter isn't breaking 200 batting average.

I'll edit, keep the show PG, but the

sentiments are well taken, my friend.

Look, Evan Carter definitely got a high ceiling,

but he has been a disappointment in 2026.

I don't think there's any getting around that.

I don't want to turn this into an

Evan Carter bash.

People already give me plenty of crap for

the negativity that I've already stated, regardless of

whether it's fact or not.

People just don't want to hear it, but

it has not been good this year.

Dark says they also barely played him when

they called him last up.

Absolutely.

You're talking about Cam Cauley, right?

They didn't even give him that much playing

time when they called him back up the

last time.

It's just really unfortunate for a guy that's

had such a good season, a great season

in our organization.

Again, Cameron Cauley, 2026 Round Rock MVP.

What more do you need the guy to

do?

He's your MVP at the AAA level.

He should be rewarded with an MLB roster

spot, and it's just not even questionable.

All right, y'all, let me land this

thing.

I got to go get the kids in

bed, all that good stuff.

Tomorrow, you have Nolan McLean.

He is definitely a solid starter for the

Mets.

318 ERA, 119 whip, 11-10, 189 strikeouts

in 172 innings.

Probably the Mets' best pitcher this year.

If he's not number one, he's number two,

but I think he's probably their best.

He is a much tougher follow-up than

the 11-10 record looks.

He's definitely produced legitimately this year.

He will walk.

I mean, he will walk, guys.

Let me see real quick here.

21 walks in his last 42 innings, so

he'll give out some free passes.

Texas, hopefully, can take advantage of that.

Last outing for McLean was six innings, one

earned run, five strikeouts against Philly, so he's

definitely been on a decent run.

His breaking ball movement, Nolan McLean's, has been

one of the defining pieces of what he's

brought to the table this year for New

York.

That sweeper shape has fluctuated a little bit

during the season, but he's got good breaking

stuff.

Rangers are definitely going to have their work

cut out for them against Nolan.

You just hope that the Rangers can find

a way to make contact and put the

ball in play.

This can't be another low-contact, high-strikeout

night tomorrow night.

It cannot be.

They have to figure out a way to

put the ball in play against McLean, and

that is what they really failed to do

today.

15 strikeouts.

We haven't even talked about this.

15 strikeouts tonight for the offense.

I need the Pepto Bismol after this show,

man.

I'm feeling a little better, but man, some

of this stuff is just making me sick

all over again.

15 strikeouts.

Over half your outs were strikeouts tonight.

Oh, my goodness.

All right.

Tonight told me Gore can give Texas the

kind of start that they should be able

to win with, but another facet, another component

of the game can find a way to

totally give it away, and that's what happened

tonight.

I'm still unsure about the bullpen situation.

You're trying to throw Evo in middle relief.

It's not going splendidly.

I don't know what this whole rotation pen

is going to look like over the last

five games.

They're going to need to do some amazing

piecemealing, that is for sure, but right now,

definitely a question mark going into the final

stretch.

Next thing I'm watching, can Texas create real

traffic tomorrow night because they only had six

total base runners tonight.

Six total base runners, man.

Got to get more traffic tomorrow night against

McLean.

That, to me, is going to be one

of the big keys of the game.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

We got to take off, but man, I

appreciate that you guys still show up, rain

or shine.

That's what I try to do.

It's not easy.

I don't love always getting on and talking

about these pathetic losses, but you know what?

It's all part of being a fan.

We're diehards for a reason, and we're going

to support the team to the bitter end,

even if they are doing stuff like this

when we really needed them to come out

with a playoff type effort.

You didn't get it tonight.

Tomorrow is a new day.

They have to find a way to get

back on track after two straight losses.

Hope you guys have a great rest of

your Tuesday night.

What little is left of it.

Appreciate everybody that commented.

I know I got a few more people

that have dropped a comment along the way.

Donald, what's good?

Thank you for hanging out.

Shannon, appreciate you.

I'm glad the Cowboys won on Sunday, that

is for sure.

I am very glad at least we got

some wins football-wise.

Texas wins.

Dallas, the Cowboys win.

At least we have that.

Be nice if the Rangers won, especially considering

you got five games left.

Appreciate all you guys hanging out.

Have a great Wednesday tomorrow.

We'll have a lot of content out tomorrow

during the day.

We'll have our history posts, birthday posts for

Rangers.

We'll also have a reel out to you

guys.

The podcast will be out if you missed

something from the show today.

Not that you want to relive this game,

but you want to hear a particular segment

that you missed out on.

I'll have the chapters and the exact time

stamps laid out for you guys.

Go back and catch something that you missed.

Appreciate all that you do to support the

show.

Thank you for sharing this with someone else

that you know is a diehard Rangers fan.

A lot of you guys have done that

religiously, and I appreciate so much you getting

the word out about Right on Rangers.

We started this with literally zero people following

except my family members and best friends back

in 2023, in January 2023.

Three years later, it's definitely not Ranger Sports

Network.

Don't get me wrong, but the growth of

the show, the channel, it's been amazing.

You guys are a huge part of that.

Thank you so much.

Have a blessed one.

As I always say to end every show,

God bless and go Rangers.
