What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

What's going on, everybody?

It's a Thursday and we are on remote.

And that's a technical term in Montana.

From the gym to the screen, yeah,

we cover it all.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Clydesdale.

Cowboy bring the heat.

Crossfit movies, music on repeat.

Half hour hustle, yeah,

we building that brand.

Grab a plate, tune in now,

you part of the fam.

It's lunchtime.

I ain't mad at that.

I feel like all my dancing to our

theme song is wasted on just me and

you.

I know.

Turns me on.

That's all that matters.

When we come into the show,

I'm just kind of like a limp biscuit.

And then I see Corey going to town

on the dance moves and boom,

I'm ready to do the show.

It's a great time, y'all.

It's a great time.

How's Montana?

Montana.

so the biggest thing is there's zero

percent humidity here oh and so the when

the temperature reads like and i'm going

okay cool no it's chilly it's chilling

with no humidity yeah that's how you're

like oh wait no this is this is

like if it's cold outside okay got it

yeah it's a different type thing no i

know what that i know what that's like

for sure so uh

So it's also dry.

Like I am drinking fluids like a mofo

this week because it is so dry.

I don't have a mute button anymore.

I have to like manually get up and

click it.

But my daughter took us to a restaurant

last night for dinner.

And mind you,

my time dinner was like nine thirty at

night.

So like I am barely hanging on after

being up since four thirty in the morning,

our time and heading out to the airport.

So we go to this place and she

wants to sit on the patio.

All good.

But I'm freezing.

I'm in this hoodie.

I am like cuddled up.

Food was delicious,

but we're sitting there having a nice

conversation and there's a family in front

of us and behind us,

there's like people just

this place serves drinks in like uh mason

jars but like there's a couple sizes you

can get it in the in the mini

mason jar or you can get it in

the like massive ones fifty five gallon

drum with a handle yeah yeah people behind

us are all consuming the big the big

jars right they're having a good time they

are having a blast the people in front

of us just a family we're sitting there

we're having a conversation all of a

sudden here

was like what was and i'm looking around

nobody's flinching nobody's doing anything

i'm like okay but the people behind us

are pretty loud so maybe maybe someone

scooted a chair right yeah i'm not

thinking much of it and uh and then

all of a sudden we're eating a little

bit more and i look i'm looking in

front of me and this this dude at

the table in front of me lifts a

cheek and it just

Just let it roll.

I was like,

is that what we do at a restaurant?

Is this how Montana gets down?

Megan, talk to us.

Talk to us.

What's going on with you people?

I don't understand.

She said sounds about right.

Holy smokes.

Holy smokes.

Okay, so I guess that's a thing.

And at that point,

my wife and daughter have completely lost

all control of themselves.

Oh, I would have too.

Because they are both partaking in mason

jars as well.

I'm sitting there with my diet Pepsi.

Trying to be that adult in the room

for once.

Jesus, man.

Megan comes in with a,

not where she's from.

Not where she's from.

Yeah, got it.

Just up here in the windy city.

Got it, got it.

or scott's at it's it's uh from the

pretty part it's perfectly normal to just

let it rip during i guess he figured

he was on the patio he's outside and

nobody would care is that do you think

maybe i wouldn't say it was packed but

it was like three quarters full patio sure

there's enough people there for to maybe

not just you know what i'm gonna do

I'm just going to let this rip right

here and see what happens.

You didn't even look around, dude.

It was just lift the cheek and let

it rip.

There was no pause.

There was no...

And then let it rip and didn't go,

oh, shit,

that was way louder than I expected.

Didn't even stop the conversation.

Just kept on rolling like that was normal

dinner.

Oh, goodness.

Nope,

not even going to check up at this

point.

No, there's not a High Rocks in town.

Because it did not splat out.

It just kind of... Thank goodness.

I can imagine Scott coming back on today

and be like, well,

we had to evacuate the restaurant last

night.

What happened?

Well,

somebody shit themselves at the table next

door.

It's kind of crazy.

Well, immediately,

that's what my daughter said.

I can't believe someone just shit

themselves beside us.

Well, it happens there, sweetheart.

I think Winter's got a point here.

My bad.

God darn it.

It's just shit.

Yeah, it's just shit happening.

I just got a point there.

If you lift a cheek,

you're looking for an audience.

Right.

That's what my grandpa did.

If he wanted to let you know,

he wanted to make sure everybody paid

attention,

he'd just go ahead and roll one over

to one side like that and let it

loose.

Hey, y'all heard that?

Did everybody hear that?

Y'all good?

All right, moving right along.

It's Montana.

There's shit everywhere.

Yeah, but they're usually in patties here.

Right.

It usually comes from animals that don't

generally use restrooms, as it turns out.

I told Scott yesterday they got there and

their room wasn't quite ready yet,

so they were just kind of hanging out

at a Mexican restaurant.

He should probably go pet a buffalo.

And he was like, no.

No, I don't think I'm doing that today.

I've seen them up close.

I don't need to get any closer.

I'm not going to try to pet one

at any point.

It might be that today, tomorrow,

or whatnot.

Oh, man.

First of all, Jeremy, it was not me.

Yeah, no.

It was not me.

And this man was older than I was,

right?

So when you get to,

I think he's just at the age where

he didn't give a shit.

Oh, he did.

Well, true.

Bad choice of words.

He didn't care.

He didn't care in the moment.

He probably gave a shit sometime later

that night.

That was just a preamble to it right

there is all that was.

Oh, man.

Don't pet the fluffy cows.

I'll keep that in mind, man.

Yeah, they're... Dude, there's...

They are so large.

And they are like...

They're so alien-looking.

Like,

they don't look like anything else in this

world.

Like, when you see one up close,

it is just crazy.

The first time I ever saw a picture,

not even of a buffalo,

but of a moose out in the wild,

and it was standing on the road next

to a car.

And I was like, oh, my God.

It's bigger than the car, and, like,

the horns just...

Keep going.

I don't understand how it makes it through

anything that it does.

Those things are absolutely enormous,

and I feel like it's the same thing

about a buffalo.

It doesn't look like it's from anywhere

around here.

And I don't mean anywhere around here

being anywhere around here.

I mean anywhere around on the planet

whatsoever.

When we drove my daughter out,

people were telling us,

don't drive at night because any of the

animals out here,

if they get into the road and you

hit them, you are dead.

Oh, yeah.

There's no coming back from that.

Right.

Ain't no coming back from that.

Oh, uh, Meg,

I will never have Rocky mountain oysters

as long as I know it.

Right.

Right.

That's one thing, but I'm not,

I'm not intentionally ordering.

No, that's not gonna happen.

Um,

So yeah, so speaking of shit,

there was an apology issued by Joanna,

a whole bunch of consonants in her name.

Yeah.

Joanna Wazowski.

Maybe that's, she's Wazowski.

Wazowski.

Wazowski.

White girl.

Let's just call it a white girl.

That's close enough.

So Vicky sent me that this morning,

and my immediate reaction was,

I don't care anymore.

For me,

an elite athlete is going to do elite

athlete things,

and that means it's not going to make

sense to normal people.

Right.

I just don't care.

Cause I just don't care.

Like I'm so over the whole,

the entire thing.

And I, first of all,

I don't feel like it was sincere because

here it is Thursday and all of a

sudden we got this, uh, apology.

Yeah.

I don't, I don't, I don't care.

I don't,

I don't need an apology from her to

me.

The,

the PR the people in the wrong were

the high rocks officials that didn't

remove her from the course.

I think it's both,

but I think absolutely it falls way more

on them than it does on her.

Because I can also concede it from the

elite athlete mindset.

She wanted to win.

She didn't give a shit about what else

was going on.

She didn't care about anybody else.

Right.

Well, she actually gave a lot of it.

And the fact that she didn't get pulled

off, immediately pulled off the course.

right within like three feet of it

happening.

Oh, you're shitting yourself.

Let's get you off of this course.

So this thing would get you cleaned up

and then you can go again later or

whatever, whatever they needed to do.

The fact that none of that happened.

And then,

and then high rocks did what they did,

which is basically said, yeah,

it sucks that it happened.

And we're going to put some rules in

place to make sure it doesn't happen

again.

And, uh,

but if anybody says anything about it,

we're going to make sure you never run

a high rock race because,

It's a wild take.

It made it to my, they were talking,

they briefly talked about it on the radio

show that I listened to on the way

to work in the morning.

So like morning radio DJs that have

absolutely no idea what any,

like High Rocks,

any of that kind of shit is,

they talked about it this morning because

apparently according to whatever financial

news that they had,

High Rocks is going to lose a couple

of million dollars over it, if not more.

So I'm with Tessa.

I really don't care.

I want to move on from this story.

But I do want to say this one

thing.

And here's, you know,

everybody's on the high rocks train and

it's going and it's going and it's going.

But this is the problem when you put

elite athletes and regular Joes on the

same course.

As part of it, for sure.

Right.

It is part of it for sure.

Cause when you're in a group of all

elite athletes, usually one,

you have your own lane and that's just

your lane.

Um, because stuff like this happens.

or at least has the capability of

happening like you said if it's just one

lane you can shut one lane down if

you need to right somebody p if one

of the girls pees themselves on a clean

or double owners or whatnot um in a

car you can shut that lane down get

it cleaned up for the next during the

next heat move people around like you need

to hey look you're not going to be

in this lane just now we're going to

move you down to the next lane and

then get it taken care of in that

time frame and then move right along

When you are pushing God only knows how

many people through an event the entire

weekend, ain't no shutting that lane down.

And what Hyrox is seeing is, hey,

the more people we can get into this

thing, the more money we make,

and the more money we make,

the more we can expand.

But at the same time,

you're combining two groups of people,

one subset that's really,

really good at this and are going to

push through things,

and another subset that are there to have

fun and to hang out with their friends.

And those aren't always going to mesh.

And I think that that's part of CrossFit's

problem.

We start the season with this open where

you're never going to appease both sides.

You can't.

Right?

You have the elite athletes going,

this is stupid.

Like,

why are we doing these simple workouts for

cardio?

Right?

And then you have the average Joe's going,

man, these are really hard.

I wish I could do more RX.

Right.

And both are right.

But it shouldn't be,

it has to be together for the CrossFit

methodology,

but it doesn't make sense from a logistic

standpoint.

Well,

I think that's why the first stage has

to be online.

That's the only way it makes sense from

any kind of logistics standpoint.

You can do it in your gym.

You know,

they lead athletes do it one time going

about their business.

The guys who are trying to get to

then maybe get to the next stage or

whatnot.

Oh, do it again.

Oh, I got to do it again.

I got to do it over or whatnot.

That's the only kind of way that makes

sense.

But no,

I'm one of those people who I am

somewhere in between this is really stupid

and why aren't we doing more for the

open?

And some of these are actually pretty

decent tests.

Probably because I'm old.

Yeah.

I want to get rid of all this

stuff that I hate talking about off the

top of the show and then get back

to the fun stuff.

So you and Vicky listened to Wayne O'Hara

talk yesterday.

I didn't know if we were going to

talk about that or not.

Let's go.

So Wayne O'Hara is the sixty five to

sixty nine year old athlete who tested

positive for PEDs at the games.

He was on the Legends and Masters podcast

yesterday or the day before.

We found it yesterday.

Shanna sent it to me.

and i this is this is my request

and i'll let you talk about what he

said because i don't give a i don't

i don't care enough to listen to it

after i got your version of it yeah

if you pop for peds i don't want

to hear from you i've heard every story

under the sun

I've watched sports.

This is the Kenneth DeLapp portion of the

it's just sports thing.

It's just sports.

I've seen hundreds of NFL players.

I've seen hundreds of Major League

Baseball players.

I've seen cyclists.

I've seen and none of their stories add

up at the end.

You all sound stupid when it's over.

Just shut the hell up.

I don't want to go off and do

your own thing and just shut up.

Because I'm over it.

I am so over the PED thing.

You got busted.

Go in your corner for four years and

leave us alone.

I thought it was a bold choice to

begin with that they pulled him and

brought him on the podcast and he decided

to go.

Like both things together in and of itself

was a wild choice for me.

And the only reason I saw it is

because I saw Shanna had commented.

They had their Instagram, I guess,

had put up that this thing was up

and Shanna had commented on it.

And that's how I saw it.

And so I went and looked and I

asked her yesterday, I said,

did you listen to it?

And she said, yeah, I did.

And I was like,

is it worth listening to?

And she said, basically, she was like,

it's all the same kind of excuses.

Depends on, I said,

how mad am I going to get on

a scale of I don't care to like

ten?

And she said, I'm at a five.

And I was like, okay, cool.

Let's go check it out.

So I went and listened to it and

he's an idiot.

don't know a better way to put it

i wish i could be nicer about it

i really do but after listening to it

it's the same type of excuses just wrapped

in a different package that he just kept

going on and on about he talks himself

in circles from time to from time to

time depending on what it is um the

i don't i didn't know that blows my

mind yes you did yes you did

Why?

Because you're not an idiot, right?

Nobody's that stupid.

Nobody who's in any kind of sport is

stupid enough to think that, oh, well,

my doctor gave it to me,

so surely it should be fine.

Then he thought because of the,

what is it, the TUE,

the therapy use exemption,

that he could go get and submit for

that and that it would wipe it away,

right?

And that he could go in,

and even the guys that were interviewing

him were like, no, that's not an excuse.

Like, you can't,

you can't react retroactively,

go back and be like, oh, well, no,

I had it for therapeutic use.

He said on the thing that in the

same almost sentence,

or in the same couple of, yeah,

He said in almost the same sentence that

his testosterone went from like a three

fifty to a nine fifty.

OK,

which I don't know if you all know

or not,

the pretty big swing when we're talking

about testosterone.

But he didn't really feel any different

while he was training.

Like,

I didn't really feel you didn't feel any

different.

Then why were you taking it?

Hold on.

It gets better.

It gets better.

So not only did he not really feel

any different,

then he goes on to say later on

that, well, I mean,

the heart is a major muscle and you

know, if your testosterone is going down,

it means your muscles are not working

correctly.

So, I mean,

you could be taking testosterone for heart

problems.

to which Shanna said, yeah, that's what,

that's what,

that's what got Shannon like fired up to

begin with.

He also said,

That he was going to, just recently,

and I don't know when they actually

interviewed him, but, I mean,

we listened to it yesterday, right?

That is a lot of monsters.

Big breath on oysters.

He also said that he basically just

stopped taking it.

Which means he's been on it the entire

time right from whenever he started on it

all the way through the games all the

way through to just here recently.

He's gonna start stop taking it because

he's going to experiment on himself and

see if see if it affects him any

differently,

but it could be dangerous because.

what if I have a heart attack?

And I was like,

the entirety of it put together.

I just, I, my,

I'm not left speechless often.

Like I did laugh at a whole lot

of it.

Cause I was like, that's just silly.

It really, really is.

Um, but it,

a lot of it just blew my mind

completely.

Like,

I can't believe this dude's actually

saying this kind of stuff.

Yeah, here we go.

He has hypogandism,

which is low testosterone.

He says it's a medical condition.

Well,

his type of hemogandism is what happens.

Hypogonadism.

Hypogonadism.

Yeah.

I've got to get the bifocals in the

right spot.

There we go.

And it happens in old age in men.

Oh, maybe I have hypogandism.

Whatever.

Gonadism.

Hypogonadism.

Yeah.

Okay.

what gets me is that he's saying that

right he's also sixty seven years old

right he's training every day and like i

love it because he's like i mean i

quit drinking and i i started you know

eating all that stuff and i just figured

that's that's what was doing it because

like surely the testosterone i was taking

wasn't making any differences

So, yeah,

the whole thing was absolutely absurd.

If anyone wants to listen to it,

it's an interesting interview to listen

to.

Those guys usually do a pretty good job.

If you care about the matches or athletes

at all,

that's the only people that they

interview.

It's on iTunes.

Go listen to it.

It's about thirty five minutes long.

Doesn't take a whole lot.

It's not, you don't have to watch it,

Meredith.

It's all, it's all audio.

They don't,

it's not a video thing at all.

Or at least I didn't see,

I didn't find it.

I don't think they have a YouTube.

Which blows my mind today because it

doesn't cost anything to have a YouTube

channel.

No, you can literally just.

And if you're only on audio,

like you are not trying to,

for anybody to see what you have on.

Right.

Yep.

Mark Phillips nailed it in Legends Masters

Podcasts.

yeah jenny i'll send it to you after

the show but again like everything you

told me from the interview i was like

i've heard all of that in every other

sport i watch and i'm just i just

i don't what i don't understand or i

say don't understand what i don't get

I'll never be able to fathom, I guess,

is the I didn't know excuse.

Because yes, you did.

Yeah, you did.

Of course you did.

Of course you did.

Like nobody in their right mind thinks

that I'm going to go get on testosterone.

At sixty seven years old,

I'm going to go get on test,

you know, TRT,

testosterone replacement treatment theory,

whatever it is.

And that's not going to,

it's going to be perfectly fine.

Surely.

Oh,

I couldn't find it in the rule book

where it says not to do it.

It was too hard to find.

So I figured it must be okay.

Jenny,

I'd love to put it in the chat.

I'm in a hotel with one screen and

Vicky is not here to do anything behind

the scenes.

So we are,

we're kind of running one legged today.

Like I said, the whole thing,

we'll get it to you.

Yeah, I'm a sponsor.

So the last big CrossFit thing I wanted

to talk about is Amy Kringle did an

interview with the Telegraph Women's

Sports Channel thingy magazine.

I don't know what it is these days.

Oh,

the Telegraph is a UK newspaper or news

outlet.

Apparently they have a subsidiary subs.

I can't talk today.

A part of them that is women's sports.

Got it.

And she has a quote in there that

was just.

I just found like this is the thing

we needed from someone who needs to go

up against Tia next season.

Okay.

And this is her quote.

I still get nervous.

I still have weaknesses and I still have

things I want to get better at.

And I thought, damn,

that's the right perspective.

Yeah.

I won this thing,

but I'm not satisfied with winning that

thing.

There's a whole bunch I want to get

better at.

I mean, hard facts.

And as analyzing her performance at the

games,

many of the analysts in the space said

she showed she didn't have much in the

form of weakness because every time you

thought people could make a move,

she slammed the door.

Yeah.

Every time they knew, oh, well,

this one's probably got a good chance or

not.

And she was like, mm-mm.

Slammed the door on one of them,

knocked him down,

whatever you want to call it.

Like,

took care of it in the best way

possible.

I thought it was...

And if you haven't seen the Tia Teer

documentary.

I have not yet.

I haven't had time.

Her mindset,

like it's worth it just to see how

her mind thinks.

And it's no wonder she is where she

is today as the goat of CrossFit.

I did like the soundbite that I heard

the other day where she said that, yeah,

I probably am a little arrogant right now.

And.

Yeah.

But you, you've earned it.

Yeah.

It's one thing to be arrogant and just

be an asshole to everybody for no good

reason, because you're relatively fit,

right?

Talk about our space.

You're pretty fit.

You know, you're a games athlete,

whatever.

It's another thing to be arrogant because

you've won.

Forty seven titles.

Not even in a row.

Most of them were in a row.

And then you took a year off and

you came back and you won again.

And you took a year off and you

came back and won again.

Like,

Yeah,

she has the right to be kind of...

There's a piece in there where Shane

describes the mindset thing as sitting at

the CrossFit dinner table.

And everybody at that dinner table gets

excited if they beat her in one event.

At one event, yep.

Right.

And she hates losing any event.

And that's the difference.

If you're satisfied with one victory over

Tia...

then you're not prepared to win in a

competition with her.

No,

I think that's like a natural extension

of,

I just remember rich phone and saying that

as much as he likes winning,

he hates losing way more than he loves

winning.

And it's the same kind of thing, right?

Like, yeah, he likes to win,

but she wants to win everything.

Like not just in,

she gets mad if she loses.

It's the same kind of thing, right?

You'd hate to have that champion's

mindset.

Like I don't much as I like to

win, I hate losing worse,

which is gonna make me work harder.

keep those processes in place to where I'm

not going to have any kind of weaknesses.

I'm not going to have any kind of

holes.

I'm not going to have anybody be able

to come sneak up on me and just

take an event out from underneath me that

I should win.

Here's the difference.

Rich would forego a single workout and not

win it if it meant he was more

ready to win the overall event.

He was very cerebral in that way where

Tia doesn't want to lose a single

that's why that's why i said i think

it's it's a natural extension of that

right like rich said yeah i hate losing

t is like i hate losing all anything

it doesn't matter what it is right like

you don't want to i don't want to

play you know a game of battle with

her with freaking cards because she's

going to end up throwing the cards across

the room if she loses right right none

of it like rock paper scissors no i

ain't playing with you

know how she's going to react if i

accidentally win so i wanted to i i

wanted to get your thoughts as a again

living in louisiana your son goes to lsu

i'm watching get up this morning it was

announced late last night that sam levitt

the starting quarterback for lsu is

doubtful for saturday night's game

You sent me a reel saying he's going

to pop up out of the stage and

be ready to go.

So there's a college expert on GetUp named

Paul Feinbaum.

He is known for stirring the pot.

He does not like Lane Kiffin.

I'm prefacing all this.

And his comment was,

you can never trust Lane Kiffin.

And if Sam Levitt shows up and plays

that way that day,

we can no longer trust him at all

because it's gamesmanship.

It is gamesmanship.

It's absolutely gamesmanship.

For those not sports fans,

LSU is going to play Ole Miss this

weekend in Ole Miss,

and that is where Lane Kiffin coached last

year.

And he left them right before their

playoff run

And so there is a lot of hate

and venom coming across the boards back

and forth.

And so.

To put it in perspective,

when Kiffin was at Tennessee and left and

went back to Tennessee,

the Tennessee fans threw shit at him while

he was on the field.

As soon as he got on the field,

there was stuff falling from the stands.

We were expecting that again this week.

He's a polarizing figure.

He basically does what he wants to do.

He's also a winner.

He knows how to, right?

He's a damn good coach.

Call it what you want.

And I say,

I think most LSU fans understand that

you're probably not going to be here

forever, right?

And we're okay with that because we're

winning right now.

We won two games.

Whether that's great, not great, whatever.

And it looks good.

Having said all of that,

I don't think he's fooling anybody with,

oh, yeah, no,

Levitt's probably not going to play this

weekend.

But at some point,

you're planting some sort of seed of doubt

somewhere just by saying that he is

potentially not going to watch.

It is going to be must-see TV.

You can absolutely believe that.

doing his best triple H impersonation and

bringing the WWE to college football.

Yeah, absolutely.

All of those clips and that thing I

sent you, I was laughing hysterically at,

uh, it's, it's the, it's the old man,

um, outside the cars,

call it an ambulance,

but not for me type deal.

Like what Sam Leavitt, uh,

I would be beyond shocked if he wasn't

on the field tomorrow night.

Like,

above and beyond shocked if he wouldn't be

on the field tomorrow night.

I do think, like I said,

you're going to plant a seed of doubt.

Here's the thing.

The other little quarterback that we got

that got to play against La Tech the

other night,

looks and plays just like Sam Levitt.

He's not Sam Levitt.

But he's he was doing the same type

of things like he always said, you know,

he's dropped he's looking he's got nothing

on a look pool take off takes off

running.

Right?

He's not dropping.

He's not checking down.

He's not doing any that kind of shit.

So

I feel like Kiffin's having fun with the

tools that are afforded to him.

And the tools that are afforded to him

right now is him going out and saying,

oh, yeah,

my starting quarterback is going to make

it out tonight.

Sorry, guys.

Well,

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's going to be a game-time decision.

No, it won't.

The other story I wanted to bring up,

and we don't need to dwell on this

long,

but I don't know if you saw this,

but the Big Ten announced that

Two weeks ago,

that thing that happened in Michigan that

everybody was upset about, yeah,

that was messed up.

That was mishandled,

and Michigan shouldn't have got the extra

second.

Two weeks later.

Why now?

Two weeks later.

Have it moved on from that?

And now you've just been – can you

imagine being Western Michigan and going,

are you kidding me?

Two weeks after the fact,

you say that we should have won the

game?

And then the last caveat,

but the NCAA doesn't have the authority to

override the decision on who won the game.

Then who does?

If the governing body of college sports

does not have the authority,

then I would love to know who actually

does.

So apparently it doesn't matter how bad

you mess up the calls in the game,

the final score stands regardless.

Welcome to being a Saints fan.

Yeah.

And then the last thing I had on

my list is,

I don't know if you saw this,

because I know F-one isn't super popular

in the U.S., but last week,

Lando Norris finished third.

Should have won.

We talked about that on NBA Sports a

little bit.

after the match they have a cool down

room the podium winners go into a cool

down room where they just sit kind of

hang out waiting to go out to the

podium and generally they have a camera in

there and you can hear them like kind

of recapping the race from their

perspective yeah lando picks up a coke and

starts drinking it and he is being yelled

at that you cannot drink coke in the

cool down room because they're not a

sponsor

of F one and Landon goes,

I just finished a two hour race in

the blazing heat.

If I want to drink a Coke,

I'm drinking a Coke.

I'm a grownup and it's caused this big

stir.

Like,

did he have the right to drink a

Coke?

Are we to a place in this world

where the sponsorship dollars are so

insane?

that a man can't have the beverage of

his choice after a race.

Okay, so let me ask you this.

If they're that worried about it,

where did he get the coke from in

the first place?

His team probably had him in the back.

I get that,

but if they're in that little room,

locked off from everybody,

waiting to come out for the podium

celebration,

Did he bring it in there with him?

Did he not stop him before he went

in there?

You know what I'm saying?

That's so incredibly stupid.

Where did he get it from?

One of his major sponsors is Monster

Energy Drinks.

Do you know who's a twenty percent

shareholder in Monster Energy Drinks?

Yes, I do.

Yes, I do.

I've been Coca-Cola for quite some time.

They bought them or whatever,

bought a part of them a long time

ago.

A long time ago.

Pocket Coke next to the Pocket Jerky.

I don't think Pocket Coke is the same

thing as Pocket Jerky there, Ramirez.

Yeah.

Pocket Coke would probably get you

arrested.

I'm just saying.

Oh,

look at Joey Perez knocking it out the

park, a Coke smuggling ring.

You must have got it from the Penn

State fraternities.

Is that the coke they've been dealing?

The one that's got cola written after it,

the one that used to have cocaine in

it way back in the teens and twenties,

whenever they first started making it.

Oh, my Lord.

Lando Norris,

part of a coke smuggling ring,

got him in trouble with the F-One people.

Yes, indeed.

I like that a whole lot.

Speaking of Coca-Cola,

I lived in Tallahassee for four years.

Just north of the town is a place

called Valdosta, Georgia.

Valdosta, Georgia.

And it might even be... Anyway,

I think it's a smaller town than even

that, outside of Valdosta.

But that's where Coke was founded.

Yep.

And the per capita income of that town...

is like in the millions because they are

all shareholders.

Yeah, because Coke was founded there.

I had a hand in it when it

first came out.

And those shares have been handed down

from generation to generation.

Boys and girls is what you call

generational wealth right there in

Valdosta, Georgia, of all places.

Come on, man.

You know what they call that there.

That's old money.

That's old money.

And people have been having money since

Jesus was a baby.

Yeah.

Yeah.

That's, that's actually unsurprising.

There's a lot of places like that, man.

Um, there's people down here as much as,

you know, Louisiana gets shit on from,

you know, poor state and the union, blah,

blah, blah.

It's like,

I know people that could buy your house

with a hundred dollar bills though.

Like don't, don't, don't play with us.

Hey,

you've got to be higher than Mississippi,

right?

That's an excellent question.

And we just lost every listener from

Mississippi.

My bad.

It's fine.

Both of them.

Mark Phillips,

the coolest dude in the chat is gifting

five Clydesdale media memberships.

We appreciate you so much, dude.

Thank you for that.

It doesn't go unnoticed.

Trust me.

No, he does that quite often,

as a matter of fact.

Jeremy, your dad's from where?

From Valdosta, Georgia?

How the hell did y'all end up in

frickin' Wisconsin, of all places?

It doesn't seem like those two things add

up, my brother.

Coke money.

Yup.

Yup.

Your Clydesdale membership paid for by the

Pennsylvania State University

oh good night that is good stuff right

there i don't give a damn who you

are yeah man it's either old money or

new money and it it makes a huge

difference yeah if you are old money you

only hang out with old money people and

only trust old money people

it's probably only actually old people at

that point even if you're young right if

you inherit your old money you're probably

still just talking to old people at that

point i just it's been my experience as

far as that goes and down here old

money people

And for the most part,

if you saw them on the street,

you would not have a clue because they're

not walking around with ten thousand

dollar handbags and rolling around in,

I don't know, name a fancy suit.

They're probably in freaking jogging pants

and slippers for the most part because

they don't advertise.

It's wild how that works.

Speaking of that,

I saw a clip the other day of

a podcast Rob Gronkowski was on.

And again, he was asked,

is it true that you have not spent

a single dollar of your NFL money?

And he said,

it's made a big deal of,

and essentially that is correct.

He said,

I was a second round draft pick.

I signed a contract with two million

guaranteed.

And I figured, listen,

the way I grew up,

I didn't have anything.

And it wouldn't take a lot to make

me feel like I had a lot.

Having an apartment felt like a lot to

me at that point in time.

And so I socked it all away and

I figured these car dealerships need

spokespeople.

I went down to the car dealership,

I got sponsorship deals and that's how I

lived.

just local sponsors,

and he has still to this day not

touched the NFL money.

Everything he has is sponsorships or other

media gigs he's been – He can probably

live off the interest at this point.

I mean, quite honestly,

like he's been in the league it feels

like forever, right?

So that money sitting in there,

just sitting in the bank,

just –

compounding interest as it goes.

I mean,

it's the right way to look at it.

It's just so counterintuitive to what we

see.

Well,

I feel like it goes one of two

ways in the NFL.

It's either guys like Gronk who like never

had anything and are cool with feeling

like, man, you know,

I'm living in a nineteen hundred square

foot house now.

I was in a shack before.

This is amazing.

And there's rolling with that.

And the guys who also never had anything

and like now I need to buy all

the things forever for the rest of my

life.

And run themselves broke that thirty four

thirty the broke About the NFL and then

everybody like just spending all their

money is one of the most It's some

it's simultaneously funny and powerful all

at the same time because you see these

guys like make these gazillion dollar

contracts and it ain't got a pot to

piss in or window to throw out throw

it out of and

uh and then like because of them now

the nfl has like financial literacy

programs for when you when you're a rookie

so that they tell you hey uh probably

don't spend all your money on cooker on

cookers on hookers and coke probably not a

great idea just go ahead and throw that

out there the new term for a co-core

is cookers cookers you're welcome

Things have never been my desire.

I believe that he actually said that.

Are you quoting him, Tessa?

He may have said that.

Marshawn Lynch did the same thing.

He wakes up laughing.

Dude, that...

It still boggles my mind that that dude

who showed up at press conferences to say,

I'm only here so I don't get fined

because you don't want to speak to the

media,

has become the biggest star of the media

after his retirement.

Love that dude.

Love that dude.

He's actually a decent actor.

I mean,

he just plays himself for all intents and

purposes,

but like the couple of movies I've seen

him in,

he's been hilarious in like the whole,

the I'm just here.

So I won't get fine.

The amount of self-control it took for him

to just,

they would ask him a question and then

that's what he would say.

And he would ask him,

they would ask him another question and he

would just look back and be like,

I'm just here.

So I don't get fine.

Yeah.

The amount of self-control that took to do

that for as long as that actually took

is mind-boggling to me because I could

probably start off like that,

but I don't know if I could maintain

that the entire way through.

It just keeps saying it.

It just keeps saying it.

The awkwardness would become palpable,

and could you – And could you just

hold on to it no matter what?

Yeah.

Jeremy asks,

think they're doing that in college now

with the NIL money?

No.

No.

I highly doubt it because there's no

governance.

There's no rules.

There's no limits.

Bryce Underwood, twelve million dollars.

There you go.

You're sucking and you're still in college

and he's still got twelve million dollars

or however much it is now.

I highly doubt that that came with a,

hey,

let's probably not use your money for

this, this and this.

And let's probably put your money here,

there and there.

Terry says,

my son stayed in the same apartments as

the FSU football team.

The parking garage had most the NIL money

from the team.

Well, yeah, you're giving

millions of dollars,

what do you think the first thing they're

going to do is they have no idea

what to do with it.

So instead of maybe not, you know,

maybe I, maybe I get fine, you know,

I don't know, financial advisor and Hey,

what should I do with this?

They just,

I'm going to head to the dealership.

Don't buy me a Lexus or, you know,

Cadillac, whatever.

I don't know if you saw Jay Williams'

piece.

He's a basketball analyst on ESPN.

He was a first-round draft pick of the

Bulls, played at Duke.

He said,

we all had NIL money back then.

It just wasn't legal.

It just wasn't legal.

Coach O, bro.

Coach O said it.

He said,

the only thing that's different now is we

bring it in through the front door instead

of the back door.

So...

And Duke's one of those schools that

you're like, well,

they're better than everybody else.

They're probably not doing – no.

Everybody's doing it.

All doing it.

Everybody's doing it.

The same thing when they –

when they got the Saints for Bounty Gate.

You think every NFL team's not saying,

hey, man.

Dude, the Buddy Ryan teams,

the Eagles and the Bears,

they were applauded for putting bounties

on people.

Yeah.

Banana's crazy, dude.

David Reed doing some math.

A five million dollar NIL deal is a

salary of two hundred thousand dollars a

year,

while the principal will still grow almost

two hundred K in the first year.

Two hundred K in college is a lot.

Doug, two hundred K at any given point.

It's a pretty good chunk of change there,

my brother.

Yeah.

Just throwing that out there.

Just throwing that out there.

I know up there in that mansion you

have an Ostrander.

You know,

maybe two hundred grand doesn't get you

much, but.

Right.

How much does it cost to send your

children to Ohio State?

Good night.

That ain't cheap.

oh i feel like he's got to be

getting scholarship money right oh yeah

he's a really good diver like yeah i

would if not good lord man they're wasting

uh what is what they were even doing

up there because i mean the kid knows

what he's doing i've seen videos yeah yeah

he's he he's good my sister was a

diver for years what i've seen on tape

is pretty pretty amazing

Two hundred grand is a lot of pizza

in old Milwaukee.

That's a lot of pizza in old Milwaukee.

Or Bush, the beast, baby.

You can get a whole lot of that.

You have that pizza here in thirty minutes

or less.

Got a good tip for you.

Two hundred K a year.

Oh, my God.

I'll just let that breathe a little bit.

OSU out of state.

fifty thousand dollars but now you live in

Ostrander that's in state when does that

convert over what point does that convert

over is that tell me that's for the

year and not for a semester please I

need to know I really need to know

like how much is a college education worth

dude I don't know anymore

I know what we're paying for Brody to

go to LSU right here,

third demands from the house,

and it's not cheap.

I don't think it is anyway,

considering I know what I paid to go

to Nichols my first semester over there,

my first two semesters over there,

to be living in Ohio.

You have to be living in Ohio one

year to get in-state.

Penn State of I think I think Meg

saying college education isn't worth that

much.

It's really not.

Duke is like ninety seven K.

Google says out of state for four years

is around two hundred thirty five to two

hundred fifty five thousand dollars.

that in perspective we built our house in

like we moved in in twenty twenty and

my home cost two hundred and eighty five

thousand dollars my house like the place I

live yep there's no way dude there's no

way yeah we bought our house for two

hundred and eight thousand yeah

and it's now worth double that but oh

yeah no mine is like oh every once

in a while jennifer will go to look

like houses in the neighborhood that are

going up for sale that are similar to

ours and she tells me how much they

are and i'm like yeah i can believe

it and because it just it just keeps

going up and up and up it's ridiculous

Yeah,

but the fact that college educations are

what a house costs.

I know what my house note is,

you know what I'm saying, a month.

And I just can't, you know,

no wonder college kids are graduating and

talking about they can't survive.

Well, yeah,

you just spent four thousand dollars on a

degree,

on a piece of paper from a thing.

You got no experience.

No, you can't probably move it anywhere.

That's bananas, dude.

Trent says,

not worth it considering I'm still paying.

Trent, I'm still paying.

And I'm a whole lot older than you.

Oh, I bet.

I bet.

Jennifer's getting her master's degree

right now from UL.

But the only reason she's actually doing

it, I say the only reason,

the main reason she's doing it is because

her work's paying for it.

Right.

We pay as long as she keeps her

GPA at whatever it needs to be.

They reimburse her for it,

but that is bananas crazy, dude.

I have a niece who did her four-year

on gymnastics scholarship,

then grad school for four years,

hired with sign-on bonus that paid for the

grad school loans, entire education free.

Nice.

Tessa,

that's the American dream right there.

Yeah,

my cousin is a couple years younger than

me,

graduated from LSU with a petrochemical

engineering degree.

And the company had hired him, hired him,

bought him a house in Houston for him

to live in when he first started working

over there, moved him,

all that kind of stuff,

and set him up to where part of

his stuff was going to pay whatever

because he didn't have it.

He had academic scholarships.

but was going to pay whatever he had

left over from from school like off all

right out the gate absolutely insane it's

awesome for him all right well that didn't

end on the high note i was hoping

for oh that's usually how that goes start

talking about stuff like that dude that's

reality unfortunately it's absolutely

bananas crazy

Uh,

that's an excellent question from Andrew

Sten.

I would love to know the answer to

this.

Do those athletes that get a huge idea

still get scholarships?

And so they should be forced to pay

their own tuition,

let scholarships go to those who actually

need them.

That's a fantastic question.

I would love to know that.

uh meg says have fun uh make sure

you get some huckleberries so i know my

daughter got us some kind of huckleberry

something and it's for a birthday party we

have to go to tonight for one of

her friends um i was gonna ask you

what's on uh what's on the uh agenda

there so apparently you're you're

attending a twenty something's birthday

party i am that ought to be super

fun

You said the quiet part out loud.

I thought it'd be super, super awesome.

So some of our really good friends were

like the young couple,

both with really nice high paying jobs,

didn't have kids and whatnot.

And you know what it means?

Like friends without kids be like,

y'all want to go to Africa on Friday?

They actually went to Africa.

Like one,

it seemed random to us because they didn't

necessarily, you know, not like, Oh,

we're going to Africa in three weeks or

whatnot.

You know, all of a sudden it's like,

Oh yeah, no, we hadn't,

we're going to Africa.

We're going on safaris.

Like, Oh yeah.

I'm really going to Africa.

I was like, yeah, no, check it out.

I was like, okay, here we go.

And like, you know, forty nine,

they're probably in their early thirties

right now, early mid thirties,

something like that.

It just always, always blew my mind.

I was like, man,

I don't I've always had kids.

I had my first one real, real young.

She grew up.

Then I got Brody.

Now I got Jameson.

It's never been a let's drop everything

and just go on safari this weekend.

I feel like a lot of young people

that don't have kids can do shit like

that.

Anytime I've ever had to hang around a

whole bunch of young ones,

especially here lately,

I feel like

I feel like that old boy that drank

out of the wrong chalice at the end

of Indiana Jones in the last crusade,

when he drank out the wrong one and

just immediately aged like a billion

years.

I feel like that dude pretty much anytime

I'm around a bunch of twenty year olds.

So that should be awesome for you.

Yeah, because I have chosen poorly.

Oh, my Lord.

Are there any other parents going to be

at this birthday party?

Probably not.

No, but I'm here to see my kid.

If that's, I have to see my kid.

It's just,

but going to a twenties somethings

birthday party where I have quit drinking.

Yeah.

Pull it up.

Cause if not, I will.

What the man mom's family reunion.

Is it as fun as your mom's family

reunion?

I don't know.

I have not experienced it yet.

Tune in tomorrow and you'll find out if

I'm sat next to a racist...

Yeah.

Whatever.

Like I was at my mom's family reunion.

It's going to be so good.

Anybody who starts a conversation with I'm

not a racist.

Oh, this ought to be fun.

How about those Muslims?

Yeah.

How about those Muslims?

What about Muslims?

Jesus Christ, man.

Hold on.

Meg's trying to give me some advice.

Uh, Wilcoxon's ice cream.

Find this brand and ice cream sandwiches.

Okay.

All right.

I'll tell you that.

And then we got to go.

But yeah,

I the richness in the food that I

had yesterday after eating really,

really healthy for a long time.

Dude, I was up all night.

Yeah.

Mind boggling what it does.

Right.

And you know what I need?

I need Thursday.

I need Thursday to get a good night's

sleep, settle my stomach.

Got two flavors to choose from.

We got some strawberry lemonade,

got some chocolate.

You can get that at thursday.com backslash

Jazzy or use promo code Jazzy at checkout.

Get fifteen percent off your order.

It's the best sleep and recovery tool in

the business.

Make sure you get that.

But yeah.

And it's not even close.

Trey Olive,

he needs to do a pre-tape show on

off days.

Yesterday afternoon was rough with no

show.

If I'd have had somebody to come on,

I could have came on and just talked

about God only knows what yesterday,

but I'm not coming on by myself.

I'm not ready for a solo show.

Here's the thing.

If I had notes,

if I had something to actually talk about,

that'd be one thing,

but I'm not just coming on here like

I normally do,

which is flying by the seat of my

pants and reacting whatever Scott's got

laid out for us.

insane yeah so behind the scenes stuff

just so you guys know cory comes with

a big long list of notes of what

we're going to talk about in a day

super long super long super long yeah big

show rundown of what he has planned to

talk about it looks a lot like this

this is pretty much what it looks like

right here my uh my um

Listen,

my rundowns from Corey are he'll send me

reels throughout the day,

throughout tonight and throughout tomorrow

morning.

And that's what I'm guessing he wants to

talk about somewhat.

If I find either funny or interesting.

And at the time I'm like, Ooh,

we could probably talk about this

tomorrow.

The problem is,

is that until you remind me that I

sent that to you,

I usually forget about it.

It's usually how that goes.

I'm like, Oh,

this is absolutely hilarious.

Scott would love this.

We should probably talk about this today,

tomorrow, whatever.

And I'll send it and then I'll go

continue living life and forget completely

that I did that or whatnot.

So when you say it like, Oh,

you sent me that thing of, uh,

about what's his face like popping up out

of the thing and I'm like oh yeah

I did do that yeah that was pretty

funny

Are we going to talk?

Oh, all right.

Cool.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Like today when I said that you would

listen to the podcast and you almost spit

out your C four.

Because I was, I, here's the thing, dude,

I listened to that yesterday.

Me and Shannon had a long conversation

about it.

Just about how insane we thought it was.

Right.

The entire thing.

And her being a doctor,

like she's coming in from that

perspective.

I'm coming at it from the athlete

perspective.

She's also coming at it from the athlete

perspective.

Right.

she was saying that like and she's

probably gonna kill me for saying this but

like when they after she uh took second

or whatever whatever year whatever she

took the podium her first year there right

at the games and they brought him back

for drug testing and she sat there and

she's like the enormity of all that was

just kind of hitting her and she was

just sitting there kind of crying and one

of the other girls that was there was

asked was act like

are you going to,

are you crying because you're going to

pop?

And she's like, no,

I'm just quite the opposite.

I'm crying because I've worked so hard to

get here.

It's all paid off and I'm,

I can go,

I can pee in whatever cup they want

to, they want me to pee in.

Like, it really doesn't matter.

Like the enormity of that hit her.

Right.

So we were talking about that yesterday

and I just, I can't,

Cannot put the two thing I can't reconcile

the two things in my head where somebody's

gonna go I'm gonna use this stuff because

my doctor said it was okay,

and I probably need it and and somehow

think that it's okay to do in sport

like it's the they just don't go together

dude,

like if you pay attention to anything in

pop culture the past fifty years and

You know you can't do that.

Nope.

Anyway.

Let's go before I get another rant.

All right, guys.

Have a great rest of your day.

We'll be back tomorrow for lunch with the

Clydesdale and Cowboy.

It's really like a late breakfast brunch

for me, but we'll do it this week.

With that, guys,

have a great rest of your day.

We'll see you soon.

You wouldn't wait to get to the editing

room to jazz me up.

I'm already jazzy.

Midday motivation every time you press

call.

Lunch with the Glidesdale,

Calvary in the heat.

CrossFit, movies, music, home repeat.

Half-hour hustle, yeah,

we're building that brand.

Grab a plate, shoot it.
