Mind Soul Journeys

In this mystical episode of Mind Soul Journeys, Jody Colvard shares the true story of a spontaneous trip into the New Mexico desert, where ancient voices echo through Chaco Canyon, a night rainbow appears beneath a full moon, and a Hopi shaman delivers a message from beyond time.

The Message from the Rainbow Man is a powerful reminder that the Earth speaks, and when we listen deeply, the unseen world answers.

Jody:

Welcome to mind soul journeys, a space where the mysteries of the mind and the whispers of the soul meet. I'm your host, Jodi Colvard. Let's begin this journey together. Sometimes the earth speaks to us,

Jody:

not through words, but through a feeling, an invitation, a pull that rises from somewhere ancient and familiar. Every so often, I get that unmistakable calling. It doesn't arrive with instructions or clarity, Just a quiet knowing that there is something I'm meant to remember, somewhere I'm meant to go, something waiting for me just beyond the map. So I packed lightly, and I flew to New Mexico. No plan.

Jody:

No destination. Just me, a rental car, and the open road. I didn't intend to end up at Chaco Canyon. But when the road sign appeared, I just turned without thinking.

Jody:

There was only a few people in

Jody:

the canyon. The air was still. I walked slowly through the ruins, feeling the old stones speak in a language far older than memory. There was a weight to the silence, a wisdom that didn't need words. When everyone else left, I made the decision to camp there for the night.

Jody:

I was completely alone. No towns, no people, just darkness settling over the canyon. I unrolled my sleeping bag in the back of the SUV and slightly cracked the windows. The air was cold enough that I could see my breath. I sat in the quiet and asked for nothing.

Jody:

I simply offered my presence. And then the voices began. They weren't frightening, and they weren't hallucinations. They were echoes, ancient chanting, drifting low across the canyon walls as if the stones themselves were breathing out old memory. I stepped out of the SUV, and then I looked up.

Jody:

The moon was enormous, hanging low and luminous in the sky. A light mist drifted through the air, and then something impossible appeared, a rainbow arching across the night sky. I had never seen a rainbow at night. I didn't even know it could happen. I stood there in awe, held in a moment that felt both mystical and intentional.

Jody:

The next morning, I drove west towards Zahopi Reservation where preparations were underway for the snake dance. The shamans had been inside the kiva for days, deep in ceremony. When I arrived, they were just emerging, their eyes bright, their energy grounded, wrapped in something ancient and powerful. One of them, a tall man with knowing eyes, walked straight towards me. He held something carved in his hand, a cachina figure painted with a rainbow.

Jody:

He placed it gently into my hands and said, the rainbow man told me he saw you last night. I didn't speak. I couldn't. Because in that moment, everything aligned. The canyon, the voices, the moon, the rainbow, the pull that sent me there in the first place.

Jody:

This wasn't just a road trip. It wasn't chance. It was a message sent across time and returned with a gift. There are places on this earth where the veil grows thin, where the land doesn't hold history but presence. In these places, the voices of the earth are not poetic metaphors.

Jody:

They are awakenings. And when we quiet ourselves enough to listen, they speak. And when we answer, they guide. So let me ask you this. What part of the earth is calling you?

Jody:

What landscape is holding your next knowing? And when the call comes, will you follow it?

Jody:
