00:00:00 Dustin: Hello everybody, and welcome to Parkgoers Go, your go to podcast for all things theme parks. Today we are introducing our new hopefully monthly segment where we talk about theme park news or at least relevant things that are happening around this time in the theme parks. And we're calling it Parkgoers go in the know. Woo. But first, hi, I'm one of your host Dustin.
00:00:33 Logan: I'm Logan
00:00:35 Nate: and I'm Nate.
00:00:36 Logan: Just so everyone knows, he also waved hello comrade.
00:00:41 Dustin: But like I said, this is a short form episode where we're just gonna talk a little bit about what's in the parks, what's relevant, what's going on.
00:00:48 Nate: What's the skittle bug, know scuttlebutt.
00:00:51 Logan: Scuttlebutt know.
00:00:52 Dustin: Scuttle scuttlebutt.
00:00:54 Logan: He messed me up. This is skittle.
00:00:57 Dustin: But you. I found a bug in my Skittles.
00:00:59 Logan: I got the butt part anyway. Dustin, can we do the pod in the middle of a pod? Can we focus?
00:01:06 Dustin: All right, so let's start with some stuff that's going to be coming soon. Ooh. To wear to the theme parks.
00:01:12 Logan: All things theme parks. Which one?
00:01:14 Dustin: Well, this first one is gonna be at Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal. Uh, FanFest nights is coming back. Yay!
00:01:26 Logan: I'm actually so jealous.
00:01:27 Dustin: Yeah, so this is year two of the FanFest. I heard the first year was a huge hit, and they had things like Dungeons and Dragons back to the future, where you actually they actually filmed it.
00:01:38 Logan: Where you actually go back to.
00:01:40 Dustin: The future. It's a real car. They got it to work. But yeah, no, this year they released their lineup. So the lineup so far.
00:01:49 Logan: Someone say just as good as last year. That person is me.
00:01:53 Dustin: Well, some of them are returning. Harry Potter and Dungeons and Dragons are returning. Uh, same with Super Nintendo World if that was there last year. Yeah, but some new ones is Sailor Moon.
00:02:04 Logan: In the name of the moon.
00:02:06 Dustin: Okay.
00:02:07 Logan: I'll punish you.
00:02:08 Dustin: Oh! What? Calm down.
00:02:12 Logan: I love Sailor Moon.
00:02:13 Dustin: Um, we also have one piece. And then we also have Scooby Doo and the Universal Monster. Um, now, what's cool about one piece that I know for sure is that they are taking over the Waterworld stunt show. Yeah. And so it's gonna be a one piece stunt show.
00:02:28 Logan: Oh, I saw that. And it sounds are gonna love that. Incredible.
00:02:33 Dustin: I agree.
00:02:33 Logan: Yeah, that's gonna slap.
00:02:34 Dustin: But one thing that is very interesting and kind of ties into one of the episodes that we had done in the past, is that we have Scooby Doo and the universal monster dooby doo.
00:02:45 Logan: Where are you.
00:02:47 Dustin: Now? In a previous episode, one of our standby passes we were talking about what if they made a scary Mickey's not so scary. But then also. Alternatively, what if they made a kid friendly version of Halloween Horror Nights? And one of the things we brought up was Scooby Doo in Darkmoor or the Dark Universe.
00:03:07 Logan: Kids love Scooby Doo.
00:03:08 Dustin: And so here's a question for us. Do we think that this makes a kid friendly Halloween Horror Nights or a universal not so scary more possible or more plausible?
00:03:21 Logan: It was episode number fifty nine stand by or pass scary Disney Halloween event.
00:03:27 Dustin: Yep. And we are getting rid of the numbers, so I don't know how well that.
00:03:30 Logan: Would stand by or pass scary Disney Halloween. I just want to count up from the bottom and you can just edit that in.
00:03:38 Dustin: So what do we think?
00:03:39 Logan: Um, I mean, I think, I think this is, I think this is the kid friendly Halloween horror nights. This is a fun little event. I mean, they don't have any. Oh wait wait wait wait hold on, hold on. Yes. What was the question? I well, my brain immediately went. My brain immediately went, well, they're missing the houses. And I was like, well, they actually, they kind of have it because they well, I don't know if they're doing it again this year, but last year they had like these like interactive houses, kind of like with the back to the future, you like went into this room and they.
00:04:17 Dustin: Oh, in the fan fest.
00:04:18 Logan: Yeah. And the fan.
00:04:19 Dustin: Yeah. And the Dungeons and Dragons one did the same thing. Uh, I think it was like a quest or something.
00:04:24 Logan: Yeah. This is the family friendly horror nights without the horror. Except for Scooby-Doo. Scooby-Doo is not hard. The monsters x Scooby-Doo, right?
00:04:34 Dustin: But if they were to bring Scooby-Doo over to monsters down in Florida, then that means that they would have to do something in Epic Universe. So do we think that. I mean, Harry Potter already does. Or Diagon Alley already does. Uh, you know, their little what are they, Death Eaters die all around. Yep. During the Halloween. So you got those two lands that are already down. The Super Nintendo world has Luigi's Mansion, which is a more, you know, scary yet still kid friendly kind of theming.
00:05:08 Logan: That would be so cool.
00:05:09 Dustin: And then you just go over to Dragon or How to Train Your Dragon. You think like harvest festivals or you think like easily, you can have them dress up and be like, oh, look.
00:05:19 Logan: Or like they can just have this scene where toothless kills Hiccup's dad on repeat.
00:05:25 Dustin: That doesn't happen, does it?
00:05:26 Logan: Yes, it does actually graphically, not graphically, but it does happen. It is canonically also chew his leg off. Oh. Who chew? No no no no, he didn't chew anybody's leg off. How did he lose his leg? He fell. He fell and it got crushed when toothless was catching. Oh, it got crushed. I thought someone bit it. No, nobody got bit. His dad just got attacked by toothless. How to train your dragon lore is kind of wild. It is. But there's definitely some horror scenes in it. So we could they could make that happen. Yeah, but we're looking for the family friendly.
00:05:58 Dustin: No, I think this is a good little insight in what the possibility is. Now, to be fair, though, apparently Universal Studios Hollywood has combined the monsters and Scooby Doo quite a bit with the meet and greets, because you know how the characters just kind of roam about. Makes sense. Um, there have been some interactions. So yeah, having that in a place like Epic Universe during the Halloween or Halloween season, I think would be very fun.
00:06:26 Logan: I think that would be fantastic. And then they can have like special shows like how Japan does.
00:06:31 Dustin: Yeah, they can all do a dance number to the Monster Mash.
00:06:34 Logan: Yeah, they can like Japan does. Yes.
00:06:37 Dustin: Is that what they do?
00:06:38 Logan: No. Well, they have you do dances. Did we? We didn't see that show. I don't think we've talked. No. But they in the in general, when they're all walking around event like at one point in the night you were in the bathroom, they all start to match, the monster starts dancing. I don't know what the actual song was, but all the people start to dance to, and then they go back to screaming at people after they finish dancing.
00:07:00 Dustin: I also hope that they bring Fan Fest over to the East Coast too. I think they'll just be fun in general.
00:07:05 Logan: I think it would be one of their most popular things, honestly. Yeah, but I agree. It's like the Cali audience is always good. Like, I mean, it fits the vibe more I think there, but it would still be ridiculously popular here. I agree, I agree. I'm glad you both agree.
00:07:21 Dustin: We all agree. Check. Cheers.
00:07:24 Logan: Now we just need to submit that. Do we just send an email or is this actually a proposal? Uh. Parkgoers go approves. So you guys can move forward. That's actually what they were waiting on. Sorry, everybody.
00:07:34 Dustin: All right. So yeah, that's going to start on April twenty third and then last until May sixteenth. Yay! Have fun with that. Let's talk about Sesame Street leaving SeaWorld Busch Gardens. So, as we've talked about in previous episodes, you know, there has been trouble a brewin when it comes to Sesame Street Workshop and the SeaWorld Busch Gardens, uh, company, where during the twenty twenties and the Covid era, one of them went after another. And then the other one kind of retorted, and therefore they started butting heads about the effort that was put in to maintaining the, uh, the properties in the parks. Now Sesame Street is going after SeaWorld Busch Gardens about some unpaid royalties. Uh, now, this isn't the first time they've butted heads, but, uh, SeaWorld Busch Gardens owns the Sesame Places and also has Sesame area in all of the parks. So the question is, if they were to leave, where would they go?
00:08:38 Logan: Probably back to Sesame Street so they can have sesame. Oh, Sesame plays only in Busch Gardens.
00:08:45 Dustin: No. There is, uh, there are two locations, I believe, that are just their own little park that is purely just Sesame Place. But there is one in, uh, the SeaWorld's in the United States, and there are some in the Busch Gardens. So if they were to break ties and essentially all of them except for, like I said, the two, which one of them's definitely in Philadelphia. The other one I think is in San Diego. So all of them except for those two would basically cease to exist. Um, now the question is if they are to be dropped, do we think something or another place is going to pick them up? Like, are we thinking, um, universal or Six Flags Cedar.
00:09:24 Logan: Uh, maybe Six.
00:09:25 Dustin: Flags Disney, maybe I.
00:09:27 Logan: Can see that six Flags I think universal would be cute. Yeah. I don't really think anybody really like needs them though. Correct. I don't really want to see them. No offense to Elmo.
00:09:38 Dustin: No, no. Tell me now. Tell me if I'm wrong. Over. When you guys went to Japan, there was that that universal they did have a kid area that had Sesame Street in it.
00:09:50 Nate: No.
00:09:51 Logan: I don't remember now. They definitely had, um, hello Kitty and Snoopy peanuts.
00:09:58 Dustin: Well, do you guys just want me to tell you, or do you want to still keep looking? No, it's one hundred percent. It's there.
00:10:04 Logan: Oh, yeah, it is there. Let me.
00:10:05 Dustin: See. Yeah, it's Sesame Street.
00:10:07 Logan: Okay. I don't think we went that far back because that was a very crowded area. Yeah, we didn't go that far back.
00:10:14 Dustin: All right. So let me let me start from the beginning. So correct me if I'm wrong. Universal Japan. They do have a kids area that has Sesame Street, right.
00:10:22 Logan: They do have a Sesame Street area.
00:10:26 Dustin: But yeah, so universal already has ties with Sesame Street. So it could be something potentially in the future, um, where it would go, I have no idea. But you got Springfield that's being questioned. You got Toon Lagoon that is being questioned. I doubt anybody's gonna ride a, uh, a log flume ride that is themed to, uh, Sesame Street. But, you know, we got a different, a couple different places over on the. Oh, um, what is it? Lost continent, our favorite lost continent.
00:10:55 Logan: Oh, speaking of Lost continent, one thing on my list. Are we done with Sesame Street?
00:11:02 Dustin: Can we move on from this?
00:11:04 Logan: Hey, Dustin, are we done? I don't like Sesame Street. I just, like, there's nothing for me, though. I don't have a kid.
00:11:11 Dustin: Okay, um. Hold on. We also have, um. I'm trying to think of some other. Oh, uh, Merlin entertainments. So they have, like, Legoland and Madame Tussauds. Um.
00:11:26 Logan: Oh, that's a good one.
00:11:27 Dustin: Take over.
00:11:28 Logan: I could see, uh, Legoland Sesame Street collab. That would be cute. I was also thinking about, um, Hershey, PA.
00:11:38 Dustin: Hershey Park could be cool. Hershey Park, that one's going to be kind of a one and done thing, You know what I mean? Where they just have the one part. Yeah, but there is another one. Oh. Palace. Palace entertainment. Palace entertainment includes Jazzland in New Orleans. They own a ton of stuff. Silver Springs and Silver Springs, Florida. Waterworld, California. Wet and wild in Las Vegas. Um, Dutch Wonderland in Pennsylvania. Idlewood. Kennywood. Both in Pennsylvania. Oh, uh, Noah's Ark water Park in the Wisconsin Dells Park.
00:12:21 Logan: That was good.
00:12:22 Dustin: So when it comes to Sesame Street and SeaWorld Busch Gardens, I am interested to see how this plays out. It does seem like it's more of a very, um, toxic marriage or I feel like neither of them necessarily want to let the other go. Oh, but, um, we'll see. We'll see what happens. Oh another thing. Another thing in the news is that they, I believe, just released the, uh, Halloween Horror Nights tickets. AM I right?
00:12:50 Logan: Yes.
00:12:50 Dustin: Okay.
00:12:51 Logan: Well, we we don't know. They announced the icons. Didn't they say, um, two. We didn't say that here, did we? No, I didn't know they had icons. I don't remember their names.
00:13:01 Dustin: It's, um. Jack and Oddfellow.
00:13:04 Nate: Yeah.
00:13:05 Logan: Mhm.
00:13:06 Dustin: August twenty eighth through November first is when you're going to be able to go. So, uh, you know, if you want to get your tickets, get them quick. That's at least in Florida. Let me see the other one. Did they release anything about the other one?
00:13:21 Logan: They didn't. Well, I haven't heard.
00:13:22 Dustin: Nope. It just says select nights in the fall.
00:13:25 Logan: So I'm so excited for the houses. They better do stranger things.
00:13:29 Dustin: Now, one thing about, uh, Halloween Horror Nights is that a lot of the people that they team up with, we have our, um, you know, of course, our universal properties. Then we also have Blumhouse, which they.
00:13:40 Logan: Normally.
00:13:40 Dustin: Team up with, but then quite often they have Netflix as well.
00:13:44 Logan: Yes.
00:13:45 Dustin: So is there anything new on Netflix that you can think of that might be a house, Stranger Things? Well, we got Stranger Things, but maybe a Wednesday. Has Wednesday ever been there?
00:13:55 Logan: No, but that would be really cool.
00:13:57 Dustin: Yeah, I know Netflix are doing those Netflix houses. Have you seen those? No, it's, uh, I think it's called Netflix houses. So it's called the Netflix House. They have a few locations, but essentially what it is is that I believe they're in malls and they just set up the whole area so that you can do fun things. And they have like two escape rooms inside of it themed to Netflix properties. I know the one in Pennsylvania is currently themed to One Piece and Wednesday. So you're able to do those kind of experiences.
00:14:29 Logan: That sounds cool.
00:14:29 Dustin: I don't really know too much more about Netflix properties to know which ones are appropriate.
00:14:34 Logan: Do they own it? Know who owns it?
00:14:36 Dustin: It is on HBO right now.
00:14:39 Logan: I would love an it house.
00:14:40 Dustin: Oh, yeah. Welcome to Derry. That would be cool.
00:14:42 Logan: That would be amazing. I do wonder what kind of, uh, like, movies they will have. I was looking at Blumhouse, but it looks like they kind of just came out with, like, Megan two. Black phone two. I mean, they came out with all this stuff.
00:14:54 Dustin: Other stuff too. Yeah, well, scream just came out with another one as well.
00:14:57 Logan: I wonder if they've done a scream house. Yeah.
00:15:00 Dustin: I don't think they've made a who owns scream?
00:15:02 Logan: Maybe a sister's house. Ooh, that would be cool.
00:15:06 Dustin: Oh, and then also, uh, weapons. A weapons house.
00:15:08 Logan: Oh, that'll be fun. Weapons would be so cool. Yeah. Can you imagine walking through all those different scenes? Kids are terrifying. That would be so good, Gladys. Uh, I could see that.
00:15:20 Dustin: Oh, another, uh, another five nights at Freddy's two. They just came out with.
00:15:24 Logan: Yeah, but that kind of came out. Like when? During the last nights. I wonder if they would do that again.
00:15:29 Dustin: Maybe.
00:15:30 Logan: Well, we know that they're gonna have. We know one of the houses, the joint house for the icons. Oh, good thing they're doing a joint one. I didn't want to wake up to waste two houses on a non ID. Wouldn't want that. Something else that they're doing different this year is that now when you do the screen, Molly, when you can get in at like two p m, if you're not like a pass holder, they're actually starting the houses at three p m.
00:15:55 Dustin: Oh, interesting.
00:15:56 Logan: That's like an extra three hours. That's nice. Molly. That's amazing actually. I love.
00:16:02 Dustin: It. Incredible.
00:16:03 Logan: That'll definitely help with lines.
00:16:04 Dustin: So buy those tickets now. Um, so you know that they're good before they sell out. Um, if you don't get.
00:16:13 Logan: Them now, they go bad.
00:16:15 Dustin: They expire.
00:16:16 Logan: Um well are we still talking about universal?
00:16:18 Dustin: Yeah, we're at universal. Why? You got something else to add?
00:16:20 Logan: I have a rumor. I have a rumor.
00:16:23 Dustin: Okay. What's the rumor?
00:16:25 Logan: So, the lost continent. My baby, my child. Um, it's been closed off for a while. Like. Especially like the Poseidon's Fury area. They recently like reopened it the other month. Not the right. Just like more of that area.
00:16:41 Dustin: Okay.
00:16:41 Logan: But the other week they were filming though with an exec from universal. So those rumors online that though going to announce something very soon when it comes to the The Lost Continent and what might be happening though.
00:16:56 Dustin: That sounds cool.
00:16:58 Logan: Some people say Pokemon, some people say Zelda, some people say literally anything else. I don't know all the things. Who knows? Who knows? It's a rumor. It'd be weird if they did Zelda, because so many people want it and epic know that'll come. That'll come to epic if it did, but yeah.
00:17:15 Dustin: Well, no, maybe not, because, I mean, you look at Harry Potter, they put literally one Harry Potter land in each park. So if they're doing the same technique to get people to go to each park, then maybe Zelda will end up in that park.
00:17:28 Logan: It would just feel weird.
00:17:29 Dustin: It would feel weird.
00:17:30 Logan: I don't know, but hopefully we find out soon. But also hopefully not because I don't want it to go away. I like it, I'm fine with it going away. Nathaniel's also fine with it going away. All we do is walk through it because that's all you can do.
00:17:42 Dustin: Well, yeah.
00:17:42 Logan: Well, maybe if they revitalize it.
00:17:44 Dustin: Well, what's unfortunate is that it's having a slow death. So it's just like I didn't want it to go, but now it's just like there's nothing there by. No, I don't think it's miserable anymore. I just think it's dead. It's just dead. And its corpse is just laying there. It's time to bury it. Also staying in universal. Moving on to the next thing. They just released the trailer for the new Harry Potter series.
00:18:08 Logan: Oh yeah. Ha ha. That is. That is handsome. Oh is doing the soundtrack.
00:18:14 Dustin: Oh that's cool. Um, Warner Brothers I believe is producing. It is going to be showing on, uh, HBO, uh, which looks like it's soon going to be a Paramount property. How do we think this is going to affect the theme parks? Do we think we're gonna see upgrades to what we already have in the parks. Do we think that it's going to be more just specifically for the films? What do we think?
00:18:39 Logan: I don't think there's going to be any change. I think we're gonna see a lot of much.
00:18:42 Dustin: You think they're gonna. You think they're gonna have the rights to sell merch for the TV show?
00:18:47 Logan: I mean, think about it. The universal doesn't even own the theme park rights for Marvel, but they still sell Marvel comic books and MCU related stuff.
00:18:55 Dustin: That is true.
00:18:56 Logan: Dustin. They might not sell it in the different Harry Potter worlds, but they might sell it on like the City Walk or something. No, I think they're gonna sell it everywhere they can. I mean, it's not gonna make much sense depending on what it is.
00:19:07 Dustin: That's true.
00:19:08 Logan: I mean, also, I think they're gonna be selling a lot of stuff. I think it's gonna be a lot of things that are just going to already be there, are going to be used in the series because it's the same. Well, it's the same. Yeah. I mean, when I say I don't think they're gonna be selling like t shirts with the kids faces on it, because that'd be kind of weird, to be honest.
00:19:25 Dustin: Well, remember, remember the whole thing with JK Rowling and why she went to universal is because they promised not to do that stuff. It was very much, oh, whatever's in the world of Harry Potter existed within the world of Harry Potter, so you won't see any like Dumbledore action figures or anything like that unless it exists in the TV show.
00:19:44 Logan: Well, I think what we're gonna see is we're gonna see like, you know, like, um, redone, like new ropes come out, we're gonna see like new, um, creatures if the show has more creatures, I don't know, like plushies and stuff like that. I think they're gonna find ways to kind of like, capitalize on that. Like when How to Train Your Dragon live action came out. They had all that much. I don't think we're gonna see any updates to rides. I don't think we're gonna see any updates to like the world itself.
00:20:13 Dustin: Yeah, I'm inclined to agree with you. Um, except for if it's very successful. If it's very successful, I think we might see some, uh, things getting pretty heavily updated, but things like, uh, the new ride that just came out. I don't think that's gonna be tough or it's not going to be touched for a while, at least, because I think they're doing each book a season. So what's that like five years away? So, you know, seven. Who knows? But uh, anyway. Yeah, no. So that's the Harry Potter TV show that's coming out. Um, I believe at the end of this year on Christmas.
00:20:46 Logan: Christmas.
00:20:47 Dustin: Yeah, yeah. The next thing on our list is going to be the reopening of Verbolten in Busch Gardens, Williamsburg.
00:20:56 Nate: Yay, yay! Woo hoo!
00:20:58 Dustin: For those of you guys who do not know, Verbolten is actually a coaster roller coaster. A launch coaster at Busch Gardens Williamsburg. That's very fun. It's themed after German cars, but the idea is whenever you would ride the track, you would go into a forbidden forest, and then you would run into something different and it would be indicated with the lighting. And I think some of the paintings on the wall or something. But when it comes back, it's only going to be themed just specifically to the Forbidden Forest. So I don't think it's gonna have like random, uh, random stories. I think it's just going to be one story now. So it has a little bit of a retheming. But what's cool about Verbolten is that Verbolten is a drop roller coaster, which is a roller coaster where you pull into a port and then you drop a couple feet and then you continue going. That sounds familiar. And speaking of Harry Potter, that is the same mechanics that the Hagrid's, uh, motorbike adventure. Is that what it's called? Magical. Magical. I'm sorry, I shouldn't I out of every word. That's the probably the top one. It's okay. But, uh, one thing that I always like to point out is that Verbolten actually opened seven years before Hagrid's ride did. Wow. So it was, uh, if not the first one of the first of the drop rollercoasters. Did we know this now? Well, you should have. It was the post that you just liked on Instagram.
00:22:28 Dustin: Yeah, but I didn't read it.
00:22:32 Dustin: Most people didn't.
00:22:33 Dustin: What? Where did you say it was again?
00:22:36 Logan: Germany.
00:22:36 Dustin: Busch gardens. Williamsburg.
00:22:38 Dustin: It's in the Germany area. It is in the Germany area of Busch Gardens, Williamsburg. But cool thing about Busch Gardens Williamsburg that a lot of people don't know is that it's actually split up into different countries. So you have your Germany, um, you have your Ireland, which is called Killarney. Uh, you have Canada, but it's known as I believe New France. And then you also have just France.
00:23:02 Dustin: And that's controversial. Maybe, I don't know.
00:23:05 Dustin: I guess to Canadians.
00:23:07 Dustin: Hey, we might have Canadian listeners.
00:23:09 Dustin: That's true. Our Canadian listeners tell us if it's controversial to call Canada New France, but it has a very similar, uh, idea to Epcot, or at least the back half of Epcot, which is, uh, the world showcase. So that's an interesting little tidbit about Busch Gardens Williamsburg. That's what we have that are kind of in the news right now. And also remember that now until May seventeenth is SeaWorld's Seafood Festival. Um, at least down in Orlando. So definitely check that out. But also look ahead to see if it's, uh, you know, if, if it's happening that day, I believe it happens on the weekends and maybe some Fridays, but you have to double check online. And also Epcot's flower and garden is now until June first. June first. So a little bit longer. And that one happens every day.
00:24:00 Logan: Every.
00:24:01 Nate: Day.
00:24:02 Dustin: And every year.
00:24:03 Dustin: And every month.
00:24:04 Logan: Every month in the springtime.
