Good morning and

welcome to Morning Cereal.

Okay, good morning and welcome to Friday

and welcome to the

island of Santorini, Greece.

Now it's hard not to be captivated by

Santorini's iconic beauty

and its rich history, right?

It's famous for sporting its stunning

cliffside villages here

that are adorned with those

whitewashed buildings and

the signature blue domes.

Now Santorini offers breathtaking views

of the vast Mediterranean

Sea, particularly during

its renowned sunsets.

Now the islands with a unique geology is

a result of a massive

volcanic eruption centuries

ago leaving behind a dramatic caldera

with these steep cliffs

that are just plunging

into a central lagoon here.

Now you'll find these charming villages

like Ia just down the way

here known for its picturesque,

its architecture and its popular sunset

views and Phira which is right here.

This is the island's bustling

hub with a vibrant atmosphere.

Now Santorini provides a wonderful

backdrop for our quote

today and our quote today is

from someone else who enjoys a fine vino

that you could probably get right here.

And our quote comes from Kristen Bell who

once said quote, "If

you're going to be kind,

start with yourself" end

quote and that's a simple truth.

Before you dish out kindness to

colleagues or families or

even strangers, just be sure

to give yourself that same grace.

That's the foundation of

everything good in your life.

Well we'll actually be in Olympia later

on on this tour, the

birthplace of the Olympics,

which proves very appropriate for today's

news facts and the

birthdays which are for

July 18th.

We're going to start back in 1976 which

in her Olympic debut

at the young age of 14,

Nadia Comonici, she became the first

gymnast to score a perfect

10 in the Olympic history.

And not only did she do it once, she did

it seven times at the

Montreal games in 1976.

Then moving up to 1986, that's when the

first time the now

close-up videotapes of the sunken

ocean liner, the Titanic, were they

released to the public.

And we can never forget the bow of that

ship on the ocean floor

just eerily appearing from

the darkness.

It was just incredible.

Well, happy birthday to you.

Today is your birthday.

You share a birthday with Kristen Bell,

beloved actress and

voice of Anna from Frozen.

She's known for mixing sharp

wit with the genuine heart.

She's 45 today.

And action star from the Fast and the

Furious franchise Vin Diesel.

He's 58 today.

And maverick entrepreneur Richard

Branson, he's 74 today.

And the late John Glenn, he

was born on this day in 1921.

Lastly the late Nelson Mandela, he was

born on this day in 1918.

Well, the number one song on this day

back in 1991 was Rush

Rush by Paula Abdul.

Now this song, it's straight up, it takes

you straight back to the 90s with Paula's

sultry ballad that became her sixth and

her final number one song.

Interestingly, the track was inspired by

classic film noir and gangster movies.

And Paula even starred in the video

alongside the great Keanu Reeves.

This song is definitely a walk down that

junior high, high

school nostalgic road for me.

But let's move from that nostalgia to

mindset growth, right?

Now habit three of the seven habits of

highly effective people by

Stephen R. Covey is effective

people.

And this is the paradigms of

interdependence, okay?

Now here Covey argues that mature,

effective living isn't

about looking inward.

That's dependence or doing it all alone.

That's independence, okay?

But it's about interdependence, okay?

Working with others,

not just alongside them.

Covey writes, quote, interdependence is a

higher value principle

than independence, end quote.

And this isn't just corporate fluff.

It's about recognizing that even rock

stars like Paula, they

need colleagues, directors,

and writers to hit their peak.

Covey breaks it into

three different stages.

Stage number one is dependence, which is

I rely on you, right?

That's early in life type dependence.

Number two is independence, right?

I can do it myself,

adolescent and career drives, okay?

And finally, number

three is interdependence.

We can combine efforts to achieve better

results, leadership,

family, and community.

Remember we talked about

this very early in the book.

Here Covey emphasizes that habits one,

which is be proactive and

habits two, which is begin

with the end in mind, are key to stepping

into interdependence.

Otherwise people rely on

control or manipulation.

Covey says, quote, this is when teamwork,

collaboration, and

cooperation truly shine,

end quote.

And importantly, Covey reminds us that

interdependence requires personal

integrity, showing up proactive

and clear in values to avoid becoming

codependent or passive.

True synergy comes not from compromise,

but from shared vision and respect.

Okay, so here's your takeaway.

Embracing interdependence

means moving away from me to we.

And it's where real influence happens.

Whether you're raising kids, whether

you're building a

community or launching a project,

writing in today's world means connecting

authentically, leading

confidently, and creating

together.

Okay, so today, whether you're training

for your own Olympics

or if you're just trying

to get up that set of stairs behind me on

the hill, remember

you've got the power to

choose kindness, stay connected, and step

into interdependence.

All right.
