But, why make a podcast?

I do have a microphone and some thoughts

and that's all
you really need these days, right?

But if I'm being serious, it's
because watching movies

isn't the only part of film that's great.

It's sharing that wonder and excitement,

the giddiness or heaviness, depending
on the film, of walking out of a theater

or putting down the remote and needing
to talk about what you experienced.

It's delving into worlds and mirrors
they create for us.

It's asking ourselves the questions
they pose and seeing how others relate.

Film connects us to places
we may never go, kinds of people

we may never meet, stories
we likely will never live,

but somehow, we're made to feel like
we're there for it all.

So to all you film lovers,
casual theatergoers, at-home

movie watchers, and streaming
scrollers out there.

My name is Ashley Bernhardt
and I'm the host of this thing.

You can say I'm a collector of interests,
too many really.

I should probably get rid of some of them.

I'm a writer, photographer, video editor,
motion designer,

and if my ambition endures
and if fate permits, a filmmaker one day.

And I'll be joined from time to time
by co-hosts who I think are much

smarter than me, especially when it comes
to film and storytelling.

You'll be hearing from me

each week about the movies
that captivate and capture my attention,

as well as my wonderful co-hosts
throughout the month.
