Wifey and Baby Mama

Shannon and Shun say goodbye to season three with gratitude, and give hints for season four and other projects in the pipeline.

What is Wifey and Baby Mama?

After involvement with the same man, Wifey, Shun and Baby Mama, Shannon have formed a unique bond to keep their children and family united in spite of society norms that tend to pit one against the other.

Speaker 1:

Hey. I'm Shun. Hi. And I'm Shannon. And we're the host of wifey and baby mama.

Speaker 1:

Happy Thursday, family. Although it's a bittersweet, we're still happy to be with you one more time. Tonight, we say so long to a great season. But before that, we would like you all to help wife and baby mama celebrate 1 year in the podcast world. Yes.

Speaker 2:

Alright. One whole year. Congratulations. Both of us. Congratulations.

Speaker 1:

Shannon, it's our anniversary. We did it, baby, my mother. We survived. And more importantly, you all hung in there. We thank you

Speaker 2:

for sharing

Speaker 1:

this journey with us thus far. Thank you. Thank you. I think you can agree that every season got better, Shannon, and this has been our best season yet.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yes. Yes. Once we got over our nerves and and learned to, you know, trust our listeners and know that they weren't never they weren't gonna let us down. You know?

Speaker 1:

That's right. And they were giving us that good good criticism as well as the bad. You know?

Speaker 2:

And we knew it was all luck. So Exactly. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

That all helped, you know, helped us survive, and we love you guys for that. We we had some fun guests too. You know? And with June, to be honest, Yeah. That even from the beginning of season 1, so many of our awesome, you know, friends, family, associates, and even professionals we've met Mhmm.

Speaker 1:

Have taken time to share their lives and experience with us. And our wonderful listeners, any past guest from season 1 through 3, we love you, and we certainly appreciate you.

Speaker 2:

Yes. We do. And we can't wait till next year to bring whoever wants to come back, maybe everyone. We'll bring you all back, because it's such a joy. It is.

Speaker 1:

And and even if you're out there in the in the audience world, in our 32, 33 countries, I can't keep up. Shannon gonna have those stats to y'all later. But if you're looking to be a guest on wifey and baby mama in season 4 or you have a topic you'd like to discuss, please hit us up at wifeyandbabymama@gmail.com. That's wife and babymama@gmail.com. And don't worry.

Speaker 1:

We'll give you the email a few more times before we end the show tonight. So hang with hang with us for the rest of the episode, and we'll get you'll get the 411 on what we'll be doing while we're away.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. Yes.

Speaker 1:

Now since this our final episode of the season, it it won't be a discussion point. Last week was our official, last topic episode, but we always like to take time to say be easy until next season. So that's what this this episode will be tonight. Yeah. We have to gear up for our season change.

Speaker 1:

It's about to be a busy spring, summer, and for all that. So

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And I did, I do wanna remind some folks who have been with us since the beak I'm sorry, who have not been with us since the beginning because there are some people that just jumped in in the middle of this season, and they listened to us talk about, you know, various topics, but they still don't understand who Sean and I are. So So we'll remind you just briefly.

Speaker 2:

It's not something we want to, you know, beat. We don't wanna beat the dead horse, but our relationship is special, because we're not only friends. We're, you know, I'm baby mama for a reason, and she's wifey for a reason because we have a common connection, a common denominator who we mentioned in the first episode, but I know that's so long ago. And so I've heard people that have jumped in, like, midseason say, oh, okay. You guys are just, you know, 2 ordinary girls.

Speaker 2:

Yeah. We are 2 ordinary girls. I'm not gonna, you know, back off of that, but, how we've come together and decided to do this, or we get the question, why are you called wifey and baby mama? I don't understand that name well because of our common denominator connection and the fact that it doesn't matter that we have that common denominator. It did not change or, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

It did not, mess with our bond, Sean and I. Not Nope. For 1 minute from day 1. Never been any drama. So I appreciate you, Sean, and just wanted everyone to understand, you know, why we're here and hoping, we could make a difference in someone's lives, here in the US.

Speaker 2:

The the globe.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. And understand our dynamic and blended family and otherwise. And I appreciate you too, darling. And and and we needed to be very clear. Even when we talk to baby daddy, we talk to each other because we're friends, and we're solid friends.

Speaker 2:

That's right.

Speaker 1:

So it was not that neither she or I dealt with him, but we were still friends. So I think our bond might be a little stronger at times, but that's because, you know, real women understand

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Real things. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

There's no mess. Yeah. And and our theme song says it all. No drama. And I think that's really the key to keeping a healthy relationship.

Speaker 1:

So I appreciate you too, darling. That's true. That's true. And we've been shaking and moving for 3 seasons. Now it's time to rest and relax.

Speaker 1:

You know? Then dive into our next thing, and we hope you guys get a little r and r while we're on break as well. We can't stress enough how important work and home life balance is. You know? It keeps you all at your best, and we certainly want to be our best for you.

Speaker 1:

So let's dig into a few things we want to share before we officially end the season. And and, Shannon, I thank you for for giving a little background. But for those of you who actually wanna go back and hear it all, start at season 1. That's what we encourage every season. If you just joined our wife and baby mama family, go back, and we're on all platforms.

Speaker 1:

Maybe on a new one, season 4, hold tight. We'd like to keep you in suspense, so hold that

Speaker 2:

for us.

Speaker 1:

But for right now, we're on Iheartradio, Pandora, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, anywhere you get your podcast. So we thank you all. Are. While we're on break, if you just if you're gonna miss us that much, you guys are welcome to go back and listen to the reruns. They're there for you.

Speaker 1:

And now we're gonna get into, like I said, a few things we wanna share. So we tell you all how we love and thank you for your support. Everyone that tunes tunes in on Thursdays, we appreciate you, and we try to be sure to say that. But tonight, we want to especially thank our listeners who take the time to email, text, give feedback on our episodes and content weekly. Like, almost without fail, these people, they come through.

Speaker 1:

Right. And, I mean, it's a faithful few who often give us flowers and criticism, like I said. So it's not always all good, but we love it. Because if you can't be criticized, you're not ready to grow. And it certainly gives us fuel for the next season, which is why every season is better, in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

As usual, you know, Shannon has prepared our stats, and she will give us updates on our new countries, cities, all that good stuff. But really quick before she does, I just want to shout out our top 5 a band. That's what we're calling it. The top 5 a band. We kinda had to build a foundation.

Speaker 1:

So season 1 and season 2, we don't want you guys to I ain't do that for us. But guess what? These people have actually been constants in season 1, so we felt it was time to give you guys your flowers. And I I wanna make a list up for next season as well. So if you wanna make that list, please email us at wifeandbabymama@gmail.com, and hit us up on our content and what you think about it.

Speaker 1:

And you know what? We'll do a little drawing. But, anyways, wife and baby mama or any of our social media pages, and we'll gladly show you some love as well. So here we go. Our top 5, and no particular order are, drum roll, please.

Speaker 2:

You go. Yes.

Speaker 1:

First up, we have Britt Jones from Alabama. Then we have miss Shannon

Speaker 2:

Ellis from

Speaker 1:

Buffalo, New York. Not a

Speaker 2:

chance. Not a chance.

Speaker 1:

Okay. Well, we're gonna give them all applause. You're right. They all need their own shine. Okay.

Speaker 1:

So Brit got her shine. And second up is miss Shannon Ellis from Buffalo, New York. Yeah. I got for you. Yay, Shannon.

Speaker 1:

Then we have Dee Williams from Georgia, all the way from Georgia. We have Risa w from North Carolina. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

It's not so bad. And

Speaker 1:

last but not least, we have John r from Maryland. Give it up for

Speaker 2:

John Ira. Go ahead. Those are the

Speaker 1:

top 5 fave for season 3. Pretty much since the beginning, like I said, since the season premiere, wife and baby mama, you guys have been there. We wanna say thank you from the bottom of

Speaker 2:

our hearts.

Speaker 1:

You know? Yes. So Every one of you guys, though, your love is truly is felt weekly, and it keeps us on our toes. And we thought it only right that we we show a little love to those 5 people because they're constant. So, again, if you wanna make a list, remember to give us feedback all of season 4, and we we we got you we got you covered.

Speaker 1:

We might even make it a top 10. So let's go.

Speaker 2:

Yes. So,

Speaker 1:

Shannon, what we looking like in these United States streets? I mean, how many states are doing the party? And is friends still checking for that number one spot? Is they on the US Hill? What we got, girl?

Speaker 2:

Well, let's see. So let me go. When we started this season, we had 24 states in the US. 24. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Okay. End of this season, I am very pleased to say we have 20 9

Speaker 1:

states. Let's stop. Oh, US.

Speaker 2:

So some increase. Some increase. We'll take it. That's over half

Speaker 1:

of the stage.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yes. Over half. Finally, over over that that halfway hump. We sat at 24 for a minute there. Okay.

Speaker 2:

So we just got a a few more to get to that 50. And then as far as our countries, we're we are in 33. 33 countries around the globe. And in some countries yes. Yes.

Speaker 2:

For the 33, yes. Gotta clap for that. Gotta clap for that 33. And in some of those countries yes. 33.

Speaker 2:

And in some of those countries, multiple state, multiple cities, in those countries, too many to go through. Okay. However, I will give first, I'll give our first our top 5 states in the US. So number 1, we know everyone should know is New York. State of New York will love you.

Speaker 1:

My people's outside.

Speaker 2:

My people's outside. Yes. And then, of course, North Carolina. Okay.

Speaker 1:

Your people are

Speaker 2:

Yeah. Yes. My people. North Carolina, then Alabama. My pupil.

Speaker 2:

Okay. Your pupil. Yes.

Speaker 1:

My mama was moving and shaking, honey.

Speaker 2:

Then South Carolina. Yes. Back and forth. Back and forth. And then number 5, Georgia.

Speaker 2:

Now throughout the seasons, Georgia and Texas, they flip flop. So one one one that might

Speaker 1:

be checked. I told you. I take credit for them. That that they're my they're my prison folks. They're my prison home folks.

Speaker 2:

Oh, okay. Yeah. Alright. That's what my Georgia, my Georgia, Texas. Okay.

Speaker 2:

Well, right, as of today, Georgia's back on top. So Georgia, you gotta go to Windsor. And come through. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We seriously thank you guys, man. That's awesome.

Speaker 2:

We do. We do. You know, it means a lot, you know, because this is our country. And so Absolutely. Having folks from, you know, all walks of life around this nation has been great.

Speaker 2:

And then when you pull in, you know, the 33 countries, every time I see a new one pop up, I'm like, oh, man. I just try to imagine who's over there listening to us. You know?

Speaker 1:

Long lost cousin. I try to I try

Speaker 2:

to picture what do they look like, you know, and, you know, are we saying something that really resonates with them, or is it an expat? Someone that's, you know, from here and just a transplant over there. Whatever the case, we're thankful for it. Everyone that tunes in and, enjoys us. So let's go with our top top countries.

Speaker 2:

So I guess I'll go from instead of 1 to 5, like I did the US, I'll go from 5 to 1. So number 5 is India, and we are in several, several states in India, which is cool. And a lot of them might be because I am in technology, some of my people. So if you are my people, and I know in India, I love you. Number 4, who's always been hanging in there is Brazil.

Speaker 1:

Okay. And Your your other your family your family name.

Speaker 2:

My other family. My other family. Wish I knew some Portuguese, but I don't. And then number 3, the UK. You know, it was England and Wells tied for a minute there, but now England's like, no.

Speaker 2:

They don't they've taken over. Okay. So we appreciate all of you over there. I'm in Danfrance. Number 2, of course.

Speaker 2:

They're they're not they're

Speaker 1:

their face. Hanging on. They're hanging on to

Speaker 2:

this spot. Like, no. No. If

Speaker 1:

it was US don't let us come back now. France don't took y'all. Don't don't do it. Please don't let it happen while we don't break. Don't let it happen.

Speaker 1:

Right. Exactly. And the French say, hey.

Speaker 2:

Y'all gonna

Speaker 1:

work, do the work in the United States.

Speaker 2:

That's right.

Speaker 1:

I love it.

Speaker 2:

Yep. Number 1 in the US. Yeah. How about We're in 33 countries, and some of them, you know, I'm I'm just amazed because there's, we've, you know, gained some countries. Sean and I have had to go, you know, for some geography lessons.

Speaker 1:

Madagascar, baby. Took me all the way out. That was it. I mean, I was like, wait a minute. That will forever be the best one.

Speaker 1:

I love you all, but Madagascar?

Speaker 2:

No. Yeah. Right on. I had never talked to y'all. Sorry.

Speaker 2:

I don't mean to sound ignorant. But,

Speaker 1:

that is true. That is another

Speaker 2:

one. Yeah. It it gives us some a chance to an opportunity to learn, you know, something about another country, and I and, of course, I read up on all of them. I'd like to understand, you know, the population and, you know

Speaker 1:

Who's listening? Who's tuning in? Yeah. And how we're helping you.

Speaker 2:

Right. Right. Helping

Speaker 1:

you. And we thank you guys.

Speaker 2:

Where are you located on? Yeah, and where you're located on the globe is fascinating to me. So thank you. Thank you all so much.

Speaker 1:

Listen. A 2 little girls over in America over in, in Buffalo, New York and South Carolina. It's great. It's great. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

It is. It is great.

Speaker 1:

Well, I I, again, I don't think we can say thank you enough. I don't know, Shan, do you have any more, wife and baby mama business?

Speaker 2:

I don't.

Speaker 1:

Well, beloved not. I do believe that's all our wife and baby, a news we had for the end of the season shout outs. We pray we bought some insight to blend the families, love, relationship, you know, and just day to day life. God knows that's our mission, and it will continue in season 4, which we will be geared more towards relationships. Dudes don't want to hold them when we when the fold in tight situations.

Speaker 1:

So every season, it's our intent to move our focus so that our all of our bases are covered. You know? We've tried our best to let you all know the importance of commitment and godly relationships, friendships, marriages in our first three seasons, but we know sometimes you gotta go. And that's why we gotta bring a little of that discussion in season 3 because, just to touch on a little bit of it, we know that the church and religion teaches us, oh, no. You stick and stay.

Speaker 1:

Well, you know, it just depends. You know, if your life is in danger, if your health is in danger, you know, sometimes we just gotta even your mental health, we we gotta go. Right. So Yeah. We're gonna touch on a little of that season, for season 4 and and probably break the monotony a little bit.

Speaker 1:

And speaking of love and having to go, I want you all to be on the lookout for my new series titled broken love. Yes.

Speaker 2:

Oh, wait a minute. Broken love is coming. I can't believe it. I can't believe it. How exciting.

Speaker 2:

Tell them tell them what that is, Shawn.

Speaker 1:

Oh, broken love. It will premiere exclusively on the Rena Network TV. God has blessed your girl to make it to the screen. My first novel, I love the world you should know, has been purchased, and it's gonna be made into a miniseries. So thank you.

Speaker 1:

Thank you all for your support in my book and and getting the word out and and my reviews. You know? It it it paid off. Mhmm. See, when you don't play about God, he don't play about you.

Speaker 1:

You know? So we will be filming a short film. Yeah. We will be filming a short film based on the novel written by your other cohost with the most Mhmm. And my baby mama, missus Elle Chen Brazil.

Speaker 1:

And that should be out in a few months.

Speaker 2:

I'm so excited.

Speaker 1:

And the series itself is set to film, by the end of this year. So we'll be busy. You know? Shannon also has other projects in the works, but she's a little shy, and I'd be outside with mine. I'd be telling all mine.

Speaker 1:

But you may or may not see hers maybe even sooner, and that's all I can say.

Speaker 2:

But I

Speaker 1:

can't wait because not only is she the best friend and baby mama a girl can have you guys, she's a hell of a writer. So you audience will get to witness that first hand. You're very welcome, baby. So be sure to follow us on social media. Yvette L Gaines on Facebook, yvette dot Lashawn on TikTok, and Lashawn Gaines 18 on Instagram.

Speaker 1:

And I'll keep you updated and, you know, with the releases and dates and, of course, the return of our season 4 in August. So while we will miss you guys, we certainly won't be bored.

Speaker 2:

We won't.

Speaker 1:

And Shannon is the snail of social media, so I'm not even giving y'all her stuff because she ain't gonna respond anyways. So I'll make sure to share all of her dates as well when she has something new coming up on the scene. So she'd be, like, 6 months behind. So yes. Yes, baby.

Speaker 1:

I got you. Y'all pray for my friend

Speaker 2:

because she's so stubborn. I know. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

She's following the social media too.

Speaker 2:

Right. Like, in post that were posted 3 months ago.

Speaker 1:

I'm like, what? Girl, but we ain't even doing that no more. But I got you, girl. You know I got you. So

Speaker 2:

Thank you. Thank you.

Speaker 1:

That's about all I got. But I know besides writing, Shannon, you'll be doing some traveling as well. So where y'all headed?

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah. Yeah. So we're not going far this summer like we normally would, but my husband has a milestone birthday. K. So we'll probably, you know, head close to home.

Speaker 2:

Okay. We are he's even talking about, of course, coming up your way towards the end of the summer. So, you know, you'll probably

Speaker 1:

be my way, honey. I'm a be filming and carrying on. I know my peeps coming to support me,

Speaker 2:

honey. Yes.

Speaker 1:

So I will be waiting. I will be waiting.

Speaker 2:

Yes. Yes. So a little bit of, beach, a little bit of New York, a little bit of, I don't know, Vegas. Hey. Just a just a few things, you know, just to Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Keep it moving like we normally do, and then, you know, waiting for my my birthday trip, which is always my the excitement of my year. Okay. Where are we going from my birthday? So don't know yet. That's right.

Speaker 2:

Where that will be, but, yeah.

Speaker 1:

But it's in the works.

Speaker 2:

It's in the works.

Speaker 1:

I'm the old lady with the shoe with all the kids. So, unfortunately, traveling is not high on my list, but I will enjoy making a little history, you know, adding to the first list in my generation, the first author in my family. I will be the first one to the big screen in my family. Guys, you've been better than good. You've been better than good.

Speaker 1:

So I might be able to travel a little bit next summer, honey.

Speaker 2:

Alright. Oh, yeah. For sure. We're definitely gonna have to do a lot next next summer. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

This time next year. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

We'll be promoting some food and dairy now. Look a little different, but we ain't gonna forget about our number 1, our day 1 pizza, which is you guys. No. We won't. I know my family our families are proud of us, and, hopefully, you guys will fall in suit with greatness.

Speaker 1:

You know? People, we're all amazing in our own different ways. And I'm just thankful, like, we're experiencing this together, Shannon, and with our listeners. You know? Yeah.

Speaker 1:

And we would love to hear all about your endeavors as well. So you guys be sure to keep us informed at wifeandbabymama@gmail.com. We'd love to hear about some of your excursions and read them on our welcome back episode, which is we do before Yeah. Our actual season kicks off. So that's something to keep you busy.

Speaker 1:

If you do something interesting, please hit us up at wifey and baby mama. We'll give you a

Speaker 2:

shout out. No doubt. Yeah. And and, now that you mentioned that too, a lot of people, you know, have great ideas. They just don't know how to get started or they're they have a fear of getting started.

Speaker 2:

It's okay. You know? Before we started this podcast, it wasn't, like, woo hoo.

Speaker 1:

Let's jump up into it. You you can

Speaker 2:

even hear it. You can hear it in the first In the

Speaker 1:

first season?

Speaker 2:

Then. Yeah. The whole What

Speaker 1:

about your first season? Season.

Speaker 2:

They're like, what are we doing? I don't know. Finding finding our way. Right. Finding our way.

Speaker 2:

And so it wasn't really a whole lot of fun like it has been That's right. You know, this season. You know? Because the first time we had so many technical issues Mhmm. You know, we weren't or at least I weren't that com comfortable.

Speaker 2:

Sean was always comfortable. Thankfully, we are yin and yang because if both of us were Shannon, this is with the gun. No way. Happen.

Speaker 1:

It wouldn't be happening.

Speaker 2:

Right. Right. So needed someone that was, you know, totally cool, gone, and collected, and that's Sean.

Speaker 1:

And I needed and I needed a brain, you know, and a technical person. So we we we literally do not work without each other. Because you That's

Speaker 2:

true. Did it.

Speaker 1:

It would have been real nice and fun, but nobody ever heard it, honey, because I couldn't upload it. So once I'm worried with doctor, I couldn't even turn my stuff on. Send you my equipment on. Okay? But, hey, here we are.

Speaker 1:

We live and we learn. Right?

Speaker 2:

Right. Right. And I remember when I first started, you know, writing and, like Sean said, I don't like to say a whole lot, but, I am a screenplay writer. And when you first start, you're so overwhelmed. It's so daunting.

Speaker 2:

Mhmm. And I read something somewhere. It says, just do it. It doesn't even matter if it makes sense. Once you like

Speaker 1:

it, it's all

Speaker 2:

all on the page? Yeah. Just throw it on the page. Don't think you're writing a masterpiece in the beginning because,

Speaker 1:

of course,

Speaker 2:

I went into it with that mindset, you know, and this was, you know, almost 10 years ago. I'm like, I'm gonna be, you know, I don't know what's the greatest Martin Scorsese or, you know, Francis Ford Coppola. Whatever. No. My first screenplay was a bunch of crap, and that's okay.

Speaker 2:

So if you feel like you you're not good or you don't think you're good enough, just do it anyway.

Speaker 1:

Because I hate it for you because I was a Maya Angelou at the gate, maybe my first one. And I'm just I'm just. Girl, I think it was set back so many times from editing. But, seriously, when you put it out, though, when you when you put it out

Speaker 2:

Yeah. It

Speaker 1:

did what it was supposed to do. So it's okay that it came back to us a 1000000 times. When you set it forth, God's timing is unmatched, baby. When you set it forth in his timing and and and and he gives you the feeling. He says now.

Speaker 1:

He tells you when. You gotta just stay in tune with that still small voice, baby, and you will get what

Speaker 2:

you got.

Speaker 1:

And I I I've been I was utterly amazed when when, you know, they were saying, yeah, you know, we're gonna put this on the screen. I'm like, what? Wait a minute. But, you know, that's amazing. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I never imagined. You write screenplays. You expect yours to go to the screen, and then and

Speaker 2:

then boom.

Speaker 1:

It's all happening.

Speaker 2:

Right.

Speaker 1:

Mine, I just wanted to Shannon, I've said this all the time. I've said this 5 or 6 times. I just literally want to tell my story to my sisters and brothers. Mhmm.

Speaker 2:

But God made up plans.

Speaker 1:

So you just do your best people, and God will do the best. Exactly.

Speaker 2:

I'm telling you. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

He sure will.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So don't be afraid. You gotta do it. Don't be afraid.

Speaker 2:

And, usually, it's not other people stopping you. It's you stopping you. So, you know,

Speaker 1:

we are our worst enemies, girl.

Speaker 2:

We are our biggest critics.

Speaker 1:

I say that all

Speaker 2:

the time.

Speaker 1:

And I told you, Shannon, when I finished that book and I and I hit when I finished the last word, something said, like, that's it. Like, that's gonna that's gonna change the world. Except for me, I told myself, the still small voice was like, that's it. Bravo. I said, I will never let anybody do this.

Speaker 1:

I was I wasn't up. I was like, no.

Speaker 2:

Can't do it. And it

Speaker 1:

took a long time before I pressed that button to send that thing to edit. I'm like, uh-uh. I can't do it because I wrote it with raw honesty. I wrote it

Speaker 2:

to help people, to change people. You did.

Speaker 1:

But never with the intentions for the world to see who I really was. But you know what, Shannon? If you can't show me who you really are, then I don't wanna talk to you. That's true. That's true.

Speaker 1:

So you know what? The world knows that that's who I really am. And guess what? They still love me.

Speaker 2:
