the games are here in five
days wow it is it crept up
quick this year I cannot
believe it went by really
really fast for me too all
right we'll get into that
in one second if you're new
to the channel which I
think a lot of you are going to be
because we have three
hundred and fifty new
subscribers this week alone
and I want to thank each
and every one of you for
jumping in and subscribing
to the show that is
freaking awesome I can't
wait to share this
experience with you all but
if you're not subscribed
make sure you hit that
subscribe button we also
have like twenty five new
members to the channel
We are going to be doing
member only releases this
week at the games for
twenty four hours only.
So members will get a twenty
four hour sneak peek of
anything released this week
at the games and then we'll
release it to the public after that.
And with that, bam, CJ from WOD Prep,
new YouTube member.
Thank you, CJ.
Thank you.
So yeah, awesome stuff going on this week.
Awesome stuff going on for us.
Awesome stuff for Carolyn this week.
Oh my gosh.
Like, subscribe, join, do all that stuff.
It is crazy.
As we catch up, I have to know,
I got a picture from Jamie
today that her son hit a
cone in his driver's test.
Did he pass?
He did pass.
I thought if you knocked a cone over,
you were like,
automatically fail I don't
know if that rule has
changed um but yeah so you
had to start in the parking
lot and do you know get up
to the line back into a
spot and then parallel park
he did great in the first
two actually I thought he
was gonna hit a cone
backing in but he and the
dude was like that was the
best recovery I've ever
seen like he skirted it
like perfectly and then he
parallel parked and I was
like oh no we are we're done I was like
He like went back and over
and then corrected way too soon.
Like he was not in the spot at all.
And I was like, he's not going to make it.
I was like,
he needs to pull forward and
just like restart this whole thing.
But he backed up, hit a cone,
knocked it over.
And the guy was like, you got six points.
You can't get more than six
points to continue on with the road part.
He was like, so let's go on the road.
And I guess he did great on the road.
CJ says Florida just passed
a law that there's a fifty
hour class for new drivers
getting a license now mandatory.
We have we have like you
have to take a road course
for like thirty hours, I think, in Ohio.
We had so he had to log
fifty hours and twenty of
those have to be night hours.
So, yeah, he did all that.
I guess I don't fifty hour.
I don't know what the class was.
He was in it for.
two weeks I think I mean it
was it was kind of a long
process that was like he's
eighteen now so he did his
he like took our training
at fifteen years old and
we've been at this a while
he just uh barry mcconner
asks what's the driver's
test like in canada
I don't remember any cones
in our driver's test.
We were just put on the road.
I did the driving school and stuff first,
and then we're on the road,
and we go on the highway at some point.
We do three-point turns, parallel park,
all of that,
which is why I think it's crazy.
I don't remember cones anyways.
To me, it's like if someone hits a cone,
I feel like that.
I'm old,
so we didn't have cones either
back in my day.
You either parallel parked
in a real parking spot, or you failed.
yeah I would almost rather
that but so I can see I'm
not wanting to like bump a
car either I mean you kind
of need stuff there right
like you would need to
parallel park between cars
and they probably don't
want that liability of
somebody bumping a car so
yeah um carolyn did you
guys get to finish happy gilmore too
We did.
We watched that today.
It was funny.
I know what to expect when
you watch an Adam Sandler movie.
It's just little jokes and stuff.
Yeah, it was good.
Julie and I watched it last night.
We really enjoyed it.
It was a lot of fun.
But
the premise of the, and I'm not,
no spoilers here.
The premise of the,
of the movie is that
they're taking on a competitor,
a competitor golf league.
And Lex texted me tonight and says,
isn't that just like the WFP?
And I could not stop laughing.
I could not stop laughing.
If you've seen the movie and
you now put the WFP on this,
on the other golf league,
it makes me want to howl.
especially now no spoilers
like when they had the
introductions of the
players at the end you know
we were talking about it
and yeah so that's that's
what came up in our minds
when that happened if you
have not seen it and you
watch it have that in your
mind as you're watching the
other leg I'm sure they
were thinking live the live
tour but same same thing
All right.
Yes, Judy Reed.
You heard about Landman here a while back.
I'm waiting for season two.
We've got a lot to get into.
I want to start with just asking Carolyn.
It is games week.
You've got to start packing.
What all is going through
your head as you are
preparing to go to the
games for your fourth time now?
I just packed this afternoon.
I leave tomorrow morning.
Yeah, I mean, it went by super,
super fast.
Obviously,
an unexpected call to the games
about four, four weeks ago,
four and a half weeks ago.
But yeah,
it's just kind of like it just
gone like the summer just
gone by so fast.
One,
because I don't work in the summer as
a teacher.
So, yeah, it's just it's already here.
So I was packing and I was
trying to think of things to bring.
like knowing the events that are coming up,
things I can maybe leave at home.
Yeah.
So it's just,
just last minute stuff and
then making sure that I
have everything for when I arrive there.
And then yeah,
groceries when I get in tomorrow,
or actually I get in too
late tomorrow for groceries, but I have,
Lex already packed me a
bunch of snacks for the,
for the flight and at least
for my day tomorrow.
So yeah, it'll be a check-in on Tuesday.
Tuesday morning for me is check-in.
Lana says, good luck at the games,
Carolyn.
Amanda Hari, good luck, Carolyn.
Amanda's one of the people
I'm excited to see.
We got to hang out last year
with all the bad stuff that
happened at the games.
I'm hoping we get a good
experience this year to hang out.
Looks like you got some goodies.
You got the Yeti set.
You got your belt.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that all arrived all this weekend.
So the amount of boxes that
came to Lex's place is
crazy because each item was
in like a specific box for
the for the Yeti.
So that was yeah,
that was that was super exciting.
Probably a dream collaboration like this.
to have yeti like for the
last few years I've been
trying to get um just a
soft cooler from yeti so to
have all of that arrive I
was you know super super
happy um and then I got a
belt made from herd I don't
know if you guys saw the
little um coat I put on it
legs feed the wolf
so that's a um homage to my
wisconsin days um and the
miracle on ice with her
brooks saying um legs feed
the wolf and in our
training in wisconsin
that's what we always said
um so the w is in red and
it which is kind of like a little
not to my UW days.
And yeah, it's a,
it's a saying that I've
always said whenever I
train and it's like a quote
that I've always liked.
So, and that was,
that was by herd and you have a,
you're doing a partnership
for the games with them and
that belt and all that, or.
Yep.
So they send a bunch of
clothes to got that in.
I think it was Friday night.
I was at the,
I went to go watch my first
WNBA game this weekend, the Valkyries.
So that was super fun.
So when I got,
it was while I was at the venue.
So when I came back,
I had the box of herds.
So that was super exciting.
Yeah.
So belt, tape, sweat bands,
and a bunch of shirts to wear.
So excited for that hookup.
Yeah.
Ken Walters is happy because
a Canadian gave a nod to a
U S Olympic team.
I mean, I mean,
Mark Johnson was my coach
who was on that miracle on ice team.
So I think that's pretty cool.
And yeah, I like,
I like the meaning of the saying as well.
And just how like, you know,
your preparation is what's
going to drive you forward on,
you know,
the game day and everything is
built from the legs.
That's your foundation.
Uh, Jeanette Prevost.
Good luck.
Bonne chance, Carolyn.
Bonne chance.
Bonne chance.
I am not,
French is not one of my languages.
Um, I tried to pull up your cool stuff,
but you put it in your story.
So they're all gone.
Bad move, bad move for a podcaster.
Okay.
So we also want to talk
about some events that have
been posted this week.
Two of them that since we
weren't went live Monday night,
and that is event five,
which is our one rep max
back squat event.
Any thoughts on that?
When it came up,
I was excited for not a
clean and jerk or snatch masks.
I typically like back
squatting or squatting in general.
I don't know that my numbers
are where they used to be,
but it's better for me than
the alternative of the Olympic lifts.
So I like the deadlifts, the back squats,
the more traditional powerlifting stuff.
Jamie sent me a pukey emoji
when she saw it, meaning she hates it,
which means I love it.
I just... I don't... I never
like the lifting events.
I don't like three attempts.
Again, if you want to go watch lifting,
go watch a powerlifting
meet or an Olympic lifting meet.
And if you really want to see...
what these people can lift I
just say throw ten minutes
on the clock and see what
they can hit like I don't
like the limitations to it
um where did you see three
rep three attempts I don't
know I swear I saw that
somewhere I've not been able to find it
for me it's just it's this I
I for any max lift it's the
thing about crossfit that I
hate in terms of safety and
it's the corral time of
waiting so long and then
going to max out with few
lifts to me that's reckless
I hate that about our sport
like we don't see that in
other sports where you know
olympic lifting they're in
the back working out and
then they can get at least
to their weight when they
go onto the floor and
they're already ready but to
you know to put a load on
your back or a max snatch
or clean and jerk whatever
it is and you've waited
even ten minutes like
that's it's a lot um so
I've always hated that
about our sport so I hope
that like and I know that
they won't allow us to like
put a load on the bar and
just do a couple squats
before you start but I just
think it's reckless
that's just my opinion and
not just like all the all
the lifting every event is
like that um my hope is
it's just it's just like
the sandbag clean where
they have four lines they
have like four racks four
people go in each time
frame and it's a line and
you're just going until
people are out and then as
the people reduce you
shrink it down to two lines
shrink it down to one line
and then you're going
through and so you're going
up the ladder which is safer
draws it out a little bit more,
makes it a little bit more exciting.
And then it gives us the
opportunity to have tiebreakers,
which I have been a
proponent that need to be
added because they can be
just as exciting as the main event.
yeah so as long as yeah as
long as it's not like um I
mean I think the rogue one
was super long with the
deadlift and had a lot a
lot of attempts but if
there was some sort of just
you know build up to a
certain amount and then it
gets to smaller increases
and you can decide to go in
or out kind of like a in a
weightlifting meet you know
they have that no one wants
to go okay we go up we go
up um would be pretty cool
um because you don't you
also don't want to be doing like
a ridiculous amount at each weight,
but yeah,
I'm excited to see the format of it.
Um, I do like that event.
Yeah.
We also had event eight, which is a forty,
forty calorie echo bike,
one hundred foot yoke carry,
thirty deficit handstand pushups,
yoke carry, forty, fifty,
forty echo bike at the end.
Up and down little mini chipper.
I think this one is going to
separate itself on the
deficit handstand push-up
and the rest that you may need for that,
like in between your sets.
Like to me,
it's a parallel handstand
push-up workout.
And then the yoke seems irrelevant.
I would have preferred the
yoke on each end because I
think that would have been
cool to see coming off that last bike.
And then seeing who's going
to take the yoke on broken.
Like,
is there going to be a change of lead
there?
If it was heavy enough where
people like are tired,
maybe biked a little bit
too fast and then don't
pick up the yoke right away.
You just see that finish a
little bit better.
I think it would have looked
better with the yoke on each end,
but I still think it comes
down to those deficit handstand pushups.
Cause if you could save a
lot of time there, even if you echo bike,
you know, at a couple RPMs different,
I think it's,
going to come down to the
proficiency of the handstand push-ups.
And if you're proficient at everything,
then it's going to be a
great workout for you.
Yeah, I totally agree.
It's a parallette handstand push-up.
Well, yeah.
Does it say parallette for
the deficit or is it?
Well, that was just on their video.
Oh, okay.
It was parallette kipping.
And I mean, there could be twists.
We have no idea.
Right.
It was a pretty significant deficit.
Yeah,
it's probably the full parallette for
men in like
an ab mat for women.
Yeah.
I definitely think this is
going to be a handstand
pushup capacity workout.
Thirty is a dense set.
And if you went too hard to start,
you're in trouble.
You're down to singles.
You're failing reps.
And so much time can be lost there.
I totally agree, though.
You know when people bike a
little too hard and get off
the bike and can barely walk?
I would have loved to seen that.
Try to pick up that yoke and
get that across.
But yeah, it's a good event.
I'm with Carolyn.
I said it on Friday show
that if they would have
ended with the yoke,
I think it would have been
pretty dramatic because you
would see races visually to the,
to the end.
Right.
And that I think would have
been more visually
appealing than ending on a bike.
The only time you get
excited about ending on a
bike is if Tim Paulson goes ham on a bike,
right?
Like, um,
that's the only bike finish I can
even remember from the games,
but a yoke finish,
I think we would remember.
because it's like fifty and
forty cows it's still
significant time on and I
think that's a not as
visually appealing to end
on that then you know they
they push hard and then
they go and pick up the
yoke and then they could
drop it if their legs are
tired and I just think that
would have been a better
finish but the workout
seems good um yeah I like
the workout I just if they
would have flipped the bike
in the yoke I think I would
have loved the workout
agree cj says I hear jamie
dabbles well did you see
the question I didn't no is
jamie proficient in
crossfit a little bit for
people who don't know jamie
finished fourth last year
at the crossfit games in
the forty to forty four
year old division she won
the open in the forty to
forty four year old
division this year and
she's going back to podium
this year at the crossfit games
We'll see.
All right.
So those are the two
workouts that were named this week.
I hate that this doesn't
default back to our, our setting.
Anyway,
I know other people complain about
that too.
So road to the games was out this week.
We had Tia versus the world.
Did you guys get an
opportunity to watch that?
I have not finished it, started it.
Yeah, I watched it.
It was the longest one.
Yeah, it was well done.
I thought it was really well done.
I didn't expect to have Dave
talk about Tia and say all
those things too.
I mean, everything he said was right,
but yeah, it was cool.
It was really well done.
I thought the best part of
it is it took you into her
mindset as to why she can't quit.
And it takes you into Shane's mindset of,
I thought she was going to
quit four other times.
Like, retire.
I'm talking retire.
But it also shows you,
she knows she's the best.
And whether she's at full bore or not,
she's not going to let anybody beat her.
Like, her mindset is just so strong.
And I think...
I've watched so many TIA videos,
which I find mind-numbing.
They are so bad.
This was not that.
This was like...
Finally,
they dug something out of her that
was new and felt like I was
learning more about her.
And what's cool is there's a
video out now called The
Legend of Torian Pro that
kind of follows into that again.
And it talks a little bit
more about Tia as well as
the Torian Pro and why it's
so popular in Australia.
If you haven't seen it,
it's a really good
representation of why that
is such a big thing in Australia.
why it means so much to them,
why they bring in the dancers,
what that means to them.
It's a really, really good video.
It was put out by Frogrips.
So if you want, check that out.
It's really, really good.
I think your trained Olive
has nailed it there.
I think it confirmed that as
long as she's competing,
she will not accept
anything less than first place.
And in the Torian video,
Maddie Sturt talks about
they had to run in single
file until they got outside the arena.
And when they did,
Tia hit a gear that none of
them could keep up with.
Like, it was immediate.
And Maddie goes,
I was trying everything I
could to keep up.
Not possible.
Yeah,
sometimes you just got to let them go.
The audience was epic,
the Aboriginal dancers.
Yeah.
And they talk about why
they're brought in.
And then there's another
dance group and athletes
dance with them this year.
I'm sure you saw some of
that on social media.
Tia and Guy and Khan learned
the dance moves and went
out and danced with them.
And how much that got the
crowd into it and what a
cool experience it was for
the athletes to be able to do that.
More people touting Jamie's praises.
A question for Carolyn.
What's your goal for the
games as far as being
satisfied finish-wise?
Um, I mean,
I would just want to do the best I can.
Um,
I would like to finish again in the
teens.
I haven't done that in the
last couple of times.
So to me,
cracking the top twenties would
be a good goal realistically.
If I'm just like, like, I'm not, um,
know shooting for a win
against tia here but like
if I can you know get close
on certain events would be
nice um but yeah I think
that would be I'd be um
happy with that but again
you can't control where you
finish um it's
Depends on the workouts.
It depends on the execution, how you feel,
how you're recovering.
There's so many factors when you,
how your mindset is.
Sometimes momentum plays a
big factor when you start
the weekend off and, you know,
you have a couple of things go right.
And all of a sudden you're,
you're in a better head space.
And that's just such a big thing.
Like that's,
that's how I felt going like
at NorCal was in such a
good head space there in
twenty twenty four at the semifinals.
Like I normally have a
really good head space when I compete.
But in twenty twenty four, I was.
you know, out of it mentally.
Once I started being away
from where I was hoping and
where expectation versus where I was.
So, um, yeah,
it's just being realistic and
just doing the best I can
and hoping that I can
execute well on game day to, you know,
balance out my strengths and weaknesses.
Cause there's, you know,
there's some good movements
in some of these walls and
then there's also going to
be bad stuff coming up.
Uh, George, our banks,
how are those crossover
double unders for you?
I think they're fine.
I think as long as my hands
are crisscrossing and not
staying in the same spot as normal,
I do better.
I don't think the workout is
particularly one on that movement.
So I think for the most part,
people will be able to do
like the sets of twenty.
So I think it's more about
think the wall walk speed
just plays a factor and
then I think just like your
transition times um how you
handle the dumbbell will
play a big factor there too
so pressing pressing
workout shoulders a lot of
shoulders uh t money says I
really hope the crowd is
hype the crowds of twenty
thirteen and fourteen they
made the games fun for the
athletes I would I would I hope so too
think all the madison years
were a pretty hype crowd
yeah um it's the it's with
everything that happened
last year and and just the
the ticket sales slump this
year but hopefully a lot of
tickets got sold and
there'll be a lot of people
there we'll find out this
week for sure also no cuts
this year so all athletes
will battle for ranking
until the last event that's great
which I love because to me,
when you make cuts,
like you're saying that
these last events are worth
way more than the previous ones that the,
Table of points changes.
I find the leaderboard is
not accurate after.
Because you finish,
let's say you finish seventeenth,
eighteenth,
but then you miss out on three
to four events,
which could have brought
you back or forward.
So I want to take the same test.
And then here are one
through one through thirty
where athletes finish.
One of your competitors is
trying to get some inside information.
Lucy Campbell,
are you looking forward to
the shoulders on that,
the handstand walk and the
handstand pushups?
Yeah, there's a lot of inversion,
and I think a lot of the workouts,
honestly,
I think the handstand walk speed on the
The deadlift workout is a big factor.
The Hanson pushup is a factor there.
And I do think that the wall
walk speed gets you like
can buy you quite a bit of
time on that workout.
Yeah.
If you're proficient upside
down and you have great pressing strength,
there's a lot of pressing right now.
My following,
I'm looking forward to that
for the shoulders.
I wouldn't say that pressing
is my strength normally.
My follow-up question to Lucy would be,
how is all of that
inversion on your wrist?
Yeah, that's an issue, too,
is the wrist and the extension,
and especially going forward.
And, like, I've had a similar issue, too,
in the last week.
I caught, like,
a power clean a little bit low,
so I've been kind of a
little bit staying away
from very high-volume handstand walking.
But that's the one thing that's – yeah,
it's a lot of – I mean,
the sport's a lot of wrist –
But yeah, it's a lot of upside down,
but I mean,
we're used to like at least
two events normally, but to me,
I think the wall walk and
the handstand walk,
like you could have gotten
rid of like the wall walk
and put something else there.
Or you put them in the same workout where,
you know, certain rounds are wall walks,
certain rounds are
handstand walks versus
having three different inversion.
But maybe he wanted that for each day.
Who knows?
Lucy says, ironically,
I'll be worst on the handstand pushups.
Is that because given the wrist?
Yeah.
Like if it would have been
regular handstand pushups,
would it be better?
Is it because you're holding
onto that parallette and it
forces you into that?
I mean, you can't move it really.
It's like when you have a
barbell and it hurts to have like,
you know,
the weight there on your wrist
and all of a sudden you use
dumbbells or something
that's more vertical.
Right.
And there's nothing here.
Like it just feels better in general.
Yeah.
I like,
I will like play with my
parallettes sometimes.
So they aren't like
perfectly against the wall, but like,
I don't,
I don't know if you guys even
have that kind of play there.
At Rogue,
they don't let you move the
parallettes at all,
which is crazy for some of
the guys that are, you know,
six foot three, six foot four.
That's so narrow.
I'm not sure what they're
going to do here if they if
they're going to allow any
anything within a box or something.
But yeah, that's always interesting.
The standards.
Yep.
Honestly,
we were very tentative on the
large deficits because of the angle.
Yeah, it makes a lot of sense.
All right.
Top ten lists.
Let's do it.
We're ready to do our top ten.
So the first up on the top
ten list are the females.
Okay.
Carolyn did not participate
as she is competing.
I will say, I'm going to say this up front,
Carolyn is just outside the
top ten for me.
I have her in like eleventh, twelfth.
That's where I have her for this year.
And it could swing either way depending on,
like she said,
how the beginning of the week goes.
Right.
But I really,
really think that she's
coming into this year strong.
And so she's just outside of my top ten.
But here is Jamie and I's
top ten picks for the women.
So I'll let Jamie read hers first,
and then I'll read mine.
All right.
You want me to go from the bottom?
Sure.
All right.
B, Segoffi in tenth, then Annika Greer,
Olivia Kerstetter, Maddie Sturt, sixth,
Abby Domet, fifth, Alexis Raptus, four,
Brooke Wells, three, Danielle Brandon,
two, Ariel Loewen, and one,
Tia Claire Toomey.
Can't be beat.
I have Annika Greer in tenth.
Danielle Brandon in ninth.
Fisa Goffey in eighth.
Haley Adams in seventh.
Alexis Raptus in sixth.
Olivia Kerstetter in fifth.
Lucy Campbell in fourth.
Abby Domet in third.
Ariel Low in second.
Tia Claire Toomey in first.
So we agree on the top two.
Yep.
And we got some mixed up.
Then it starts getting really mixed up.
so just some of my thoughts
and I'll let you jump in
jamie is I think lucy
campbell's coming into this
with a lot of momentum um I
didn't really think about
the all the inversion on
her wrist but I'm confident
that she it's only going to
be one bad event and I
think a lot of people will
have a bad event um olivia
kerstetter is really
improving in the areas that
she needed to and she's
going to win some of the strength events
Uh, Raptors.
I just,
I don't have confidence one way or
another,
but I think she'll be right in this,
this area.
Haley is, we don't know.
Um, fee is coming in so strong.
I wanted to move her up,
but I just didn't know where to, um,
Danielle Brandon,
I think in her sleep can
finish in the top ten in
this field with her talent.
I just don't know with
everything going on where that will be,
but I think she can do it in her sleep.
And Annika Greer is going to
win an event or two.
Yes.
And I think with that alone,
that gets her enough points
to propel her up in or
around the top ten.
Yeah.
Annika is incredible at
several gymnastic things, but like
handstand walk great at she
people forget for one so
both of my list men and
women have obviously are
picked off of the events we
know right now more than
just like picking what I
would have picked had I not
known so it's a little bit
weighed heavily to all the
inversion shoulder
handstand walk handstand
walk speed um but annika's
great at classic crossfit
there's a ton of
I mean, it's going to come down to,
I feel like,
movement speed when you get
into classic CrossFit.
So your proportions matter.
So Colton and Annika have a heads up,
I feel like.
Same with Fi.
Originally, Fi was a tough one for me.
Do I put her in the top ten?
She is doing incredible, but
I I think she's also
excellent at classic
crossfit um so I just
there's gonna be workouts
again like scott said
annika is probably gonna
have a couple home runs and
sure is she gonna have a
bad event like number one
yes but so will I like
everyone is gonna have one
bad event danielle's fat
squat probably isn't great
but we still have her pretty high um
I don't know that Olivia's
run will be that great,
but we both still have her quite high.
Everyone's going to have
something not great.
Here's my answer to
everybody saying we're
crazy for having Annika up here.
Look at Gee.
Gee won three events at one
games and finished way low
in everything else and
finished like sixth or seventh.
It doesn't take a lot if you
get some wins.
Hundreds of points add up fast.
And Annika has that same ability.
When you can get a hundred
points or even a top five at the games,
those points go a long way
because a lot of times like
it's the same type of like
same athletes that are
getting those points.
And if you're always like
middle of the pack, you know,
you're just kind of staying
within your bubble.
But if you can go and get those big points,
like it just makes such a big difference.
um overall for the weekend
but yeah annika has a lot
of very good events that
she'll have over the
weekend I agree with that I
heard athletics thank you
for the twenty dollars
carolyn is number one thank
you so annika is not key really
better at crossfit than like
in the box crossfit like
regional style like there's
so many things annika is so
elite at um can do well it
just depends how her like
that mental part is going
to be a big factor it's you
know it's her rookie year
um I don't think she's
going to put a whole bunch
of pressure on herself but
where she's going to be
mentally because now you
know what you consider your
strengths and your
weaknesses all of a sudden
when you're with the best
of the best and you don't
do as well in certain
things or you do better
like you're like we talked
about just it's a momentum
game too at the games and
um how you are yeah then
how is brooke fourth she is
notorious for handstand
push-up lockout never
forget because yeah I i
Well,
because he's saying like the capacity
year.
The problem is because what
you and I see and we would
call it out does not mean
it is going to get called out the games.
It never does.
And that's why these people
continue to move that way.
She will move the way she
always moves and it'll
slide right through at the games.
She will get through just fine.
None of those will be called
no reps for her.
She will be fine.
So I also put out a poll on
YouTube where I asked,
who wins the CrossFit Games
on the female side, Tia or anybody else?
And I was shocked that there
were people that said anybody else.
There was actually,
fourteen percent said
anybody else and eighty six
percent said Tia.
I wish.
They could have read it, too,
as who they want to win.
Maybe they read it that way.
One person actually put a
name to it and said Haley.
Yeah, you guys don't have... Oh, yeah,
I guess Scott has Haley.
Scott does.
So I had Haley in tenth,
and that's where I
struggled between Haley and Fee, but...
I have yet to see... I think
actually Hillard talked about this.
One of them talked about this,
that we haven't seen
Hailey's fitness come back
quite to where... I mean,
there were things I thought
she would do better at at Mayhem Classic,
and I understand there's
been some time since Mayhem Classic.
So she may completely surprise me,
but I've been waiting to
see her fitness shine again,
and I haven't seen it yet.
So...
don't I don't know if the
field has sort of surpassed
her fee looks freaking good
scott not putting brooke in
the top ten is diabolical
here's my thinking she
started off on fire at
syndicate crown and after
the first day she started to fall off
She came in to prove a point.
And by the end of the weekend,
she was getting lower
finishes and lower finishes.
And I just don't think she
has the capacity to sustain
her fitness throughout the
weekend of a nine or ten
event competition.
That's why I took her out of the top ten.
I mean,
just like everyone in here is
commenting Haley is a top
five athlete all the time,
so we should have her up there.
So is Danielle Brandon.
Like, barring a cut, stepping on a line,
which isn't happening this year, Danielle,
she's just good at crossing.
I wouldn't compare Haley's
games matches to Danielle.
I think Haley has been
better and more consistent
over so many years.
Like, she's always, like,
fifth, fourth, sixth,
except for one year in twenty twenty two,
which I don't where I think
she finished like maybe
ninth or something.
But I just feel that Haley
is going to do what she
needs to do to get ready for the games.
I don't know what she looks like right now,
but I know she's fit and
she's always she's always
good at the games.
You can never count her out.
um it's not about benefit
now ever in seventh I I
just I just don't know like we don't know
And then you have this new
budding romance that's going on.
And what, what effect does that have?
And I know that we're not
supposed to think about
that personal lives and whatever,
but it does have an effect.
It may have a very good
effect that she's training
more because she's training with Austin.
It could mean she's not
focused as much because she's training.
Who knows?
We're not going to know
until she gets out there
and takes the floor.
Yeah.
I mean, that, that almost made me put,
put her higher.
You know, there was things like,
the thing is like Olivia is
excellent on her hands too.
So like, cause Olivia was the one I,
like I said,
I had Haley and feed switch there.
And then I put Olivia up
there because I think
Olivia is going to crush the strength.
I think she's better than
people think with her shoulder endurance.
So I don't know, like,
think there's a lot of good
gymnasts in this field like
a lot of good gymnasts
cardio people in this field
and less strength
specialists like when I
look at the female side of
things I think a lot of the
workouts that we think
people are going to be good
inverted like there's going
to be some surprises
because there are some
elite like gymnastics
people in the field absolutely
I was really torn to not put
Saria Meha on the list.
I mean, if you come out and you win,
if you win the online semifinal,
which that's partly why I
have Anika so high.
She got fourth behind Ariel and Alexis.
I think that's a pretty good
subset of in-the-box
CrossFit right there.
So I struggle to not put her on.
I just do not know enough about her.
Yeah, I just, um,
I want to hear Larry say this in person.
She's going to show out for her boo.
I believe it.
I love it.
Um, we ready to move on to the men.
Now we have three charts for the men.
Let's go.
Here we go.
Carolyn, go ahead.
Read yours first.
This is as long as everyone's healthy.
Jeff Adler, Dallin Pepper, Jason Hopper.
In fourth, Austin Hatfield.
Fifth, Justin Medeiros.
Sixth, James Sprague.
Seventh, Roman Krennikov.
Eighth, Ricky Garrard.
Ninth, Jay Crouch.
And tenth, Colton Mertens.
That's what I have.
Jamie?
All right.
I have Jeff Adler in first,
Austin Hatfield in second,
Jason Hopper in third.
Then Dallin, Colton, James, Justin, Jay,
Roman, Ricky.
I'll do mine.
Countdown style, Colton Mertens, tenth.
Roman Kronikoff, ninth.
Justin Medeiros, eighth.
Ricky Gerrard, seventh.
Jay Crouch, sixth.
Austin Hatfield, five.
Jason Hopper, four.
James Sprague, three.
Dallin Pepper, two.
Jeff Adler, one.
this was the hardest ranking
I think I've ever done in
all my time of doing a
podcast it was very hard do
we have the exact ten
athletes just in different
orders like I'm trying to
see if there's any
different names in there
I do think we have the exact same ten.
Just different order, yeah.
Which is crazy.
Yeah, this men's field is stacked.
And again,
depending on execution and just
different things going your
way on the weekend,
that order can change so much.
just health like we don't
know everyone's health
going into the games there
could be some nagging
injuries I know jeff in his
road to the games talked
about that he hasn't been
doing certain lifts or
maybe it hasn't been as
strong right now so again
we don't know everyone that
everyone is going in a
hundred percent on every
single thing um to me on paper
Jeff is the fittest if he is
healthy and performs the
way that I feel he should or can, um,
over ten events or eleven events,
whatever it'll be.
Yeah, Colton was my questionable ranking.
If he's healthy, once again, like an Anika,
like classic cross,
his range of motion just
makes him win things.
Um,
And he's when you don't have
a lot along with his
fitness makes him win things.
Well, yeah,
the dude is incredibly fit and
he's improved so much on
his running that he's like
not even going to take that
same hit that Anika is going to.
So I just I feel like if he
comes in healthy,
if he can squat what we
think he can squat.
he's gonna do very well.
Yeah,
that's the thing is we don't know
where he is at after NorCal
and his back issue that he
had felt like a small pulp
or whatever it was.
So if he's healthy,
we know he's gonna have
some home runs on some of these events.
And he could certainly be
higher than this if he's
able to get a few in his wheelhouse,
that's for sure.
So Kenneth the Lab, Colton Wins,
you all are crazy.
CJ, not a chance, KDL.
And I'm with CJ.
The highest finish Colton
has ever had is nineteenth.
What is going to happen all
of a sudden that jumps him
eighteen spots to number one?
Oh,
I think he's the fittest he's ever been.
He may be the fittest he's ever been,
but his problem has always
been sustaining over the weekend,
and that is all the events,
because he does have to
exert more effort to
overcome his stature in some events,
and he has to pay that
penalty throughout a longer weekend.
He is better on a short
weekend than a long weekend,
and that is the problem with the winning.
If you would have said he podiums,
I'd say he has a shot.
But winning, my God,
it would take something
miraculous to happen.
And I love Colton.
Colton is my friend.
I love him to death.
But my God,
that's a massive jump from ninth to that.
I love that you have Dillon in second.
Me?
Scott does.
Oh, yeah, you both do.
You both have Dallin.
Look at you two.
That's cute.
Yeah, I think Dallin's looking good.
He's fit.
I think some of these events
are great for Jason right now, though.
Yeah, I see him executing well.
I think he's not going to
have a bad event in anything.
He's just very well-rounded.
He's a great crossfitter in terms of
different things that can
get thrown at him.
Yeah,
I think Dallin's going to have a
great weekend.
Here's my thing with why I
have Dallin and James ahead of Jason.
Dallin and James have been there before,
whether it be the team games,
whether it be the games.
They both have been in that
crucial moment where they
have to perform at the very end to win.
And we haven't seen that from Jason yet.
I mean, he got on the podium at Rogue.
He got at the podium at WFP, Hopper,
that is.
So I just think that he is
building some momentum and
some confidence.
He's seen Dallin train,
and he's going toe-to-toe
with him sometimes.
I think he can do it.
I think he can get onto the
podium this year.
I think he was just shy last year.
What did he finish last year, fourth?
And he's been on the podium
on some of the major events
that he's done ever since.
So I think it's looking good.
Like that echo bike workout
with the handstand pushups,
I'd be surprised if anyone
beats him on that one.
He should be good at
basically everything that's been.
I like the workouts released
so far for him, for sure.
Craig asks,
does James have a chance at
repeating this games?
Yes, absolutely.
Absolutely.
Everybody in my top seven
has a chance to repeat.
Or not to repeat, but to win the games.
Maybe even top eight.
Maybe nine.
Nine.
My top nine have a chance to
win the games.
I'd say top eight.
I think if Roman's healthy, he could win.
We just haven't seen a healthy Roman.
healthy roman healthy ricky
some of these events look
really good for justin
though right now like
really good and I think
this is the fittest we've
seen justin in three years
absolutely and like if you
talk about three inverted
events do you see some of
the stuff he did against I
know all those handstand
stuff that he did against
james like that was so impressive yeah
Um, like he's so good on his hands.
His overhead mobility is great.
He's able to run again after
so many years of just having pain, um,
with his running.
I think he's slowly starting
to figure that out.
If someone knows how to back squat,
the power lifting way, you know,
James or Justin has been
working so much with Jesse
and his crew on power lifting.
Um, he's a great squatter.
Like these,
these are really good events
for Justin right now.
Yeah.
So I would not be shocked if
any of the top nine win.
And I wouldn't be shocked if
we see somebody outside the
top ten jump in there.
Into the top ten?
I saw Bill Leahy mentioned earlier.
Sure.
He could have a good weekend.
Tudor Magda.
Tudor.
If he could get his mind
right for one weekend,
he could be up there.
I have Tudor as my honorable
mentions because these
workouts were released so far.
Tudor's quick on his hands.
That one's going to be good.
Yeah.
I guess I don't know what
his like capacity on a like
deep deficit handstand pushup.
But yeah, I think, I mean,
I think his squat's going
to be pretty darn good.
Do you think that proven
group has a headstart as
they've been training with Tia?
That has never been a
favorable thing in the past.
Does it mean it's not going
to be this year?
I don't know.
I would hate personally to
have a training camp the
way that like they've had
for like a few weeks where
everyone is there.
Like, I feel like that would just as,
as good as that is to compete,
like the way that they're
having to compete against
each other all the time.
And he's like,
I personally wouldn't like that.
I don't think going into.
the main event like I would
go to one weekend one
training camp and I did
okay I got what I needed I
don't need to go against
everyone every single time
um I don't know like I
don't know how how how it
is for like all those other
athletes mentally to do
workouts against tia every
single day like multiple
pieces and like yeah it's
great to compare but um
I like that I'm not part of
the training camp prior to
the games for that kind of stuff.
Wouldn't be for me.
But I think it's cool that
they're getting all that
coaching and stuff.
And they have so many
athletes going to the games.
Very successful year for that group.
I honestly think Tia just
beats everybody down and
Proven shows up busted.
Yeah, that would be my worry a little bit.
That's been kind of the
thing that's happened in the past.
Doesn't mean it'll happen this year.
Maybe they've learned from that.
Maybe, I don't know.
But they, yeah,
Carolyn makes excellent points.
Yeah, well, Raph says it.
If you're at a training camp,
you need to know the
difference between training
and competing.
I mean, you literally probably can't.
be competing against tia
daily that's that's a
recipe for disaster but
they're like doing matchups
and heats and all that and
I don't know I wouldn't
like that not not for that
long anyways for like a
quick weekend to get a
little tune up maybe a
month a bit a month before
the games I'd like that but
like for a few weeks prior
to the games I think that'd
get hard to do yeah yeah
But the people at Proven are smart.
So they've probably learned.
They're not going to show us
everything that's going on there.
We only get the highlight reel.
And they might have information too.
Yeah.
Sorry.
what are you saying carolyn
no I'm just saying like
it's there's an advantage
of being part of a training
camp let's be honest yep
like every year there's an
advantage being part of a
training camp so who knows
they can not be showing us
certain stuff people were
doing the right versions of
chad last year at other
training camps and um who
knows but there's some
advantages to being with
training camps and I think
there's also some disadvantages so if
is that so I'm going to pull
down our picks and I'm
going to pull up the men's
poll as I was able to put a
few more names into that
one um if it'll let me
remove it there we go and
if I share my screen
carolyn do you think there
will be double unders in
another workout just
regular double unders or do you think
I don't think so with the
amount of running that we have so far.
And then there's machine,
there's two machines that
we've seen so far, right?
The row echo bike,
like we could maybe see another ski.
Um, I don't know.
I don't think they should
have double unders in there.
Yeah.
I think,
I think because you're at the games,
there's so many other
things that you can do for
monostructural work that you don't need,
um, two skipping ropes there.
Um,
so I put out a poll who wins a CrossFit
games for men.
And this is what came back.
I put the three former champs.
Yeah.
Jeff, James, Justin and other.
And I don't know what that says.
Oh, add name to comments.
I see.
And so we did get sixteen comments.
Colton Mertens, Roman, Colton Mertens,
Dallin Pepper, Dallin Pepper.
Jeff is a safe bet with
until more events are released.
Roman, Austin, Dallin, Adler,
but don't sleep on Colton.
Hopper and Hatfield are
fighting for the top spot.
And then someone asked,
why is Adler the favorite?
He only won after Roman got hurt.
Hate that story.
Wow.
Dallin Pepper, Dallin.
So lots of votes for Dallin.
A couple for Colton.
More for Roman than I would have expected.
Honestly.
Yeah.
So those are the votes from our audience.
Any thoughts about that?
You're surprised about Roman.
Yeah,
I am kind of surprised there was that
many votes for Roman.
To win it?
I don't know.
Yeah, like nobody commented Ricky?
Nope, no Rickys.
That many Romans and zero Rickys.
That does sort of surprise me.
CJ says,
I enjoy and respect proven to be clear,
but bringing on athletes
already at games level is
much different than
bringing someone up from nothing.
Everybody has their own business model.
I will say that.
Do they have the most athletes that have,
they have to have the most
individual athletes that have qualified?
Yeah.
Mayhem is Haley, Roman, Jorge, Austin,
Austin.
Trying to think.
Well,
What does that say about them?
Like see,
so every day is an opportunity says CJ,
they tried to bring those
type of athletes and they didn't last.
I mean,
does that mean they're riding them
too hard?
Like pushing them way too hard,
way too soon.
Why can't they last?
Why can't they,
why can't they bring somebody up?
Proven you mean?
Yeah.
I think they're going to try with, I mean,
Lucy's already been, Lucy McGonigal,
I'm talking about Lucy Campbell,
but she was already like a games athlete,
like teen.
But I think they're going to
try to like mold her into the,
maybe the next.
Every day is an opportunity,
says Ricky is washed.
I'm sorry.
He won Torian.
That was a pretty good field
to win against.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And we all have Jay, like,
so he beat Jay head to head, right?
Yep.
But we,
I think we all have Jay ahead of
him here.
I don't know where they were
finishes-wise.
Actually,
I think I remember Ricky being very,
very consistent there.
Because I was going to say,
because sometimes when it's
very top-heavy, if you have one bad event,
there's no recovering.
It's harder almost sometimes
with a top-heavy field and
no depth where you're just
kind of interchanging top threes.
But I think Ricky was very
consistent there and looked good.
Yeah.
Votes for potential rookies of the year,
male and female side.
Well, I've got Anika in my top ten.
That would be the highest placed.
And they only do one,
so I would say Anika for
Rookie of the Year.
They've done two on a couple occasions.
Never when Dave has done the programming.
I don't remember.
And last year,
we didn't have an awards ceremony,
so nobody... If they won those,
it was in private,
and we don't know who won.
Um...
But it was only in the Bosch
year where they gave away
two rookies of the year.
Yeah, I totally agree with Annika.
But on the men's side,
I would probably give it to Bill Leahy.
I think he'll be up there.
Yep.
I think he has the potential
to be the most consistent through this.
Ty will be good too.
Ty is a good pick.
Yeah,
I will be curious between the two of
them who finishes higher.
Ty could finish top ten, too,
and I probably wouldn't
even blink an eye.
Yeah, I totally agree.
It's hard to pick these
things when I don't have
the roster in front of me.
Yeah.
Well, we need to know all the events, too.
True.
There's a lot more stuff
that could come out.
change some of our back on
ricky is a wash uh ricky
won four of six events at
taurian yeah that's very
impressive that was good
programming too like yeah
that was that's my favorite
of the semi-finals
programming was that one thank you cj
Uh, we should do a poll.
If you were a semifinals athlete,
never been to the games,
what camp would you choose?
Assuming you want to camp.
I wish I knew how to do a poll.
I need to figure that out.
I really do.
Um,
your channel again this week and we can
bring it up on next week's show.
Like you.
Oh yeah.
I'll put, okay.
I'll put it on the poll for this week.
Yeah.
I don't, I, I'm kind of,
I want to go the Carolyn way.
I don't think camps are the
right answer anymore.
I think they're good to kind
of – you go there for like
a quick weekend or get some eyes on you,
battle it out for a little bit,
and then you go back and
you train with your community.
I'm going to figure out this pole thing.
That's going to be my task.
I know you can do them live.
I know.
I just don't know how.
I'm going to see Caleb this weekend.
Maybe I'll ask him.
Yeah.
And then –
And in the meantime,
I'll put it out on YouTube tonight.
We'll have it for one of our
games discussions.
Jamie and I are going to try to go live.
She doesn't know this.
Most of the nights of the games.
Okay.
If she's available,
Carolyn will hop on if
she's not in bed already.
And we're going to try to do
that throughout the games weekend.
But I do want to talk about that topic.
I still really want to try to get there.
I just,
I don't know that I can come before
Saturday.
I think I have a closing on Friday.
I should know tomorrow if
it's going to be Friday,
because that would be what
would limit me.
So I wouldn't even be able
to leave till probably butt
crack of dawn on Saturday
morning or late Friday night.
I have a pull out couch.
All right.
What else do we got going on?
All right.
I've been talking about it all week.
I really love the
partnerships that the games
are doing this year at the games.
I think the heat one app is
probably the most
significant partnership
because it does give people
the ability to participate.
place a wager.
I know it's not really money,
but on who's going to win.
And whenever you have a vested interest,
you're going to watch the
event and that brings viewership.
So that's a great partner.
I think the zone is a great partner.
And that is, um,
that it's small and they
need to grow just as much
as CrossFit needs to grow.
So it's a partnership where
you promote each other.
And I think that's way
better than having some
behemoth that doesn't
really care if you're there or not.
Ruck Race League is Saturday morning.
They're going to do a big
community ruck race.
Arm Wrestling with Travis Bajent.
I think that's awesome,
and they're going to give
away prizes when you arm wrestle.
Mayhem Spectator Workouts on Saturday.
Look at this.
We have a volunteer.
We'd love to hop on in the lives with you,
Scott.
If you need some backup,
I'll be out there all weekend.
Oh, that'd be awesome.
Allison.
I will reach out to you.
I still have your phone number.
I think so.
Um, yeah, we'll talk for sure.
Yeah.
She can have a team coverage.
I'm sure she'll be watching Raf's team.
Did you put lunchtime shows
on hold until after the games?
I did not.
We're going to be back tomorrow.
Now they may go on hold during the games,
but I'm going to still do
them up into the games.
You leave Thursday.
I leave.
I think I'm leaving Tuesday night.
Oh, geez.
You're trying to... Is there
something... I'm trying to
start capturing Hattie Wednesday.
Is her check-in on Wednesday?
It's on Tuesday.
Yeah, check-ins are on Tuesday.
She's capturing her check-in for me.
Okay.
I'm going to try to get to gyms with her,
do some stuff, some dinners,
different things like that.
Uh...
There is a chance Tyson
Bajent will be here.
We actually have a question
coming up on that.
He was awesome this morning
on the Savant podcast.
I was giddy listening to him
talk about the Bears and
where they're at this year.
Barry said something here.
My IG post got a ton of comments.
It did.
Because people just don't understand.
People don't listen.
And they think they hear what I say.
What was your post?
What did I miss?
I said that the world
fitness project is not done
very much promotion.
Yeah.
Yeah.
About any other aspect about
the WFP other than their promotion.
I know people hear what they
want to hear and they want to argue.
And it is just about their promotion.
I know it was clear to me.
And I showed numbers.
Why one is different than the other.
That's it.
That's okay.
okay let's go to factor
fiction and we we've upped
our game this week where I
can actually show the
questions on the screen so
this goes out to my two
co-hosts and I pipe in at
the end factor fiction a
pure crossfit program games
is what both crossfit and
the community need to get a
full reset and move forward
I'm really torn on this.
I'm going to say fiction.
I just think there's
something special about the
games when there's these new,
innovative events, movements,
things that get brought
back to the community and
progress year to year.
To me, it's almost like, for one,
and this kind of goes back
to my comment with Brooke, like
brooke will get away with
what she always gets away
with and I don't think
that's good for the sport
there will be questionable
movement I feel like in on
the floor and for classic
crossfit like if wall balls
look like like when in the
past when we've seen like
someone like danny
spiegel's wall balls and
getting videoed like you
don't want to see that and promote that
Cause that's what gets back
to the community.
And that's how people start to move.
And that's,
I feel like why things have
gone down this path where people like,
I see,
I see other people moving sometimes
and I'm like,
where did you get the idea
that that was okay?
And then the more I look at things,
I'm like, well, that's,
that's where it happens at
the fricking cross the games.
Carolyn.
Uh, I'll say fiction.
Cause I do like the,
like the implements that
you just can't do at home.
Um,
I,
the only good part about it being like
classic CrossFit,
like more in the box style
is that a lot of people
will be able to test these workouts,
like in their own little version, um,
in their home affiliate to compare to the,
to the elite athletes.
I think that part is good.
That part is like, um,
important that people can
also do some of it.
Do I think that they should
be able to do all the workouts?
No,
I think that there's something unique
and special about the
CrossFit Games that you
just want to have
implements that you can
never do at your home
affiliate and only at the
CrossFit Games you get to see that.
And that's the cool part.
It's the visually appealing.
That's the show that you see
on the documentaries and all that,
which they are making a documentary,
they said, this year.
Oh, they're not going to, huh?
No, they said they are.
Oh, okay.
Sorry.
CJ,
we need a CrossFit Games that every
workout is entertaining, motivating,
and iconic.
That is what we need this year.
We need to draw the eyes.
Yeah.
Fiction, but better than last year.
Someone agrees with,
T-Money agrees with Jamie.
Wouldn't one new thing still
be classic CrossFit?
The games will suffer from
not having outdoor events,
except the first.
I agree with that
wholeheartedly being outside, man.
That's always been a thing for me.
Like even when I go to like,
when we went with you, Scott to Orlando,
it's,
It's hard for me to go
somewhere nice and be stuck inside.
I don't like that.
And if I'm going somewhere for three,
four days,
it's only three days for you guys,
I want to be outside for
some of my vacation.
I don't want to be in a cold
convention center.
I think they do need to be more outside.
I know this is not significant to anything,
but yes, please name the workouts.
I can't remember the numbers.
I can remember names.
Yeah.
You can do that for one year
and one year only where
that event is going to be
known as IE one or two.
And we'll still not even
remember what those are.
But name the damn workouts
so that they're memorable.
All I can remember hearing
is people who won trophies.
I think Emily Rolfe told me this.
that the year was twenty
nineteen when they did all
the cuts and all of the
events were named first cut, second cut,
third cut.
She said nothing is worse
than getting a trophy for
winning an event.
And it's saying third cut.
It sounds like you lost or
that you were booted and
that's what's on your
trophy for the rest of your life.
I mean,
it's not the worst problem to have
to have a trophy of winning
an event at the CrossFit Games.
True, true.
third cut but yes they
should they should be named
uh as a fellow new yorker
trust me you don't want to
be outside in albany well
we should have stayed in madison
first cut was iconic I think
if if that's the one name
was first cut and that
makes sense but and
everyone everyone knows
that workout too like you
say first cut and everyone
knows that workout in the
crossfit space um because
that one was memorable once
you start saying second
third fourth you're like I
don't know which one this one is
All right, let's go to the next one.
Factor Fiction.
Holly, our facts and information person,
exposed a running event for
the age group CrossFit
Games by finding the
application here in
Columbus for the Olentangy Trail.
And any efforts that the
legends have subsequently
made making a denial are
just covering their tracks.
I say fact.
They have the Teams Legends
events that they've released.
I think they were programmed by Mayhem,
if I'm not mistaken.
And like the one event is a
three and a half K run.
Are these programmed by Mayhem?
Yeah, what's not programmed by Mayhem?
Three and a half K run, four K rolling,
three and a half K run.
And it's like a double scored event,
which was seven K,
which is one of the things
that they were applying for.
Um, seven K of running, um, and like,
it's a two scored event and
one event score is the
three and a half K plus the
four K on the row.
And then the second score is
like your total time,
which I think you're just
getting two hundred points
to the same people.
Yeah.
Like.
just it doesn't need to be a
double scored event like
that if that's the team event um
If people don't know, Holly sent me,
she posted and then she
sent me the application
that names them and pit
prodigies as the
application to use the trail in a five K,
six K and seven K denominations.
We posted that legends then said, well,
here are the real events.
And they showed someone wrestling a bear,
showed someone doing a
squat with a million things on them, um,
trying to deflect.
And they said fake news on our post.
So is it a,
like a seven K is it like a
three and a half K out and back?
Is that what's been applied for?
You know,
It doesn't show how far the trail.
But it's a long trail.
It goes from downtown
Columbus to up by my house,
which is like twenty miles away.
So I think they're asking
for increments along that trail.
I just feel like
because my original thought
was they were going to try
to do something similar to
the individual individual
event one of the games and
also row in there but if
they've applied for seven k
of distance on that trail I
don't honestly don't see I
don't see how they would do
that I mean because you
wouldn't run you wouldn't
run seven k then you would
only run a four k
like a two K out, two K back row,
and then go run another.
So like if seven K is blocked off, I mean,
I feel like we're just straight running,
which.
That's what I thought too.
I love running.
Yeah.
But I, I,
it just as much as I think the
back squat is not a great workout.
I, if it's just a straight run,
I don't think that's a great workout.
Like I,
And it pains me to say that
because... And most likely
the same person would win the five K,
the six K and the seven K.
It'd be the same thing.
Well,
that will be... I think that's for
age group difference.
So like the sixty,
like I would assume it'd
probably be sixteen all the
way to like forty nine is
going to run seven K. Fifty,
the fourteen and fifteen
year old... I'm saying,
do you even need those
extra two kilometers?
Like I still think the same,
the same athletes...
five six seven are pretty
pretty set yeah I don't
think that they would need
three different distances
is what I'm saying you
could just do a five k
right but we already did
that so isn't legends being
programmed by boulder
athlete jason grubb the
legends is being programmed
by them the games is being
programmed by legends bob and joe
The famous Bob and the team
workouts that I'm talking about,
and are not that have been
released that I'm talking
about were programmed by mayhem.
And they separate little
division at the age group crossing games.
Yeah.
Well, yeah,
it's just a community thing
that you could just sign up for it.
You didn't there was no
qualification for it.
It is not part of the games.
Yes,
being done at the same place as the
games.
Another new member, AZZaki.
Thank you so much.
Glad you could be a member.
We love having you guys.
Holly clears up.
The five K, six K,
seven K was just a
description on the application.
There wasn't a specific
distance of the trail marked off.
Okay.
Interesting.
I don't know.
Yeah.
I will be very curious to
see what comes out of this.
But yeah,
we're definitely out there running them,
them trying to post anything otherwise is,
I mean, they've already said,
like in that master share, they said,
bring some, like,
you're going to be outside for something,
bring sunscreen,
or I don't know what they
said on the master share,
something to the effect
that we're going outside
for a little bit.
All right, let's move on to the next one.
Factor fiction.
Tia will never retire and
win at least ten times.
Fiction.
I don't know.
I almost say fact.
I think she's going for another,
do you think this year and
then two more years after?
I do think.
I think that's, well, unless there's any.
I think this is her last one.
If there's any truth to the
pregnancy or they're going to be trying,
she may be done.
But I think she could come
back and win another one.
And I think she'll say, why not?
I didn't,
I didn't say she couldn't come
back and win.
I just think, I think that she'll,
I think that this will be her last year.
I think she's going to still
have it and she's going to
want to still compete and
she's still going to have it.
Yeah.
So why not?
I, I, I,
after watching those two documentaries,
the road to the games with
her and the Torian pro thing,
I don't think she'll ever retire.
She said after Torian, they asked her,
are you going to go to the games?
And her plan was not to,
if you hear Shane and she's like, well,
I had the fire and I
thought if I still have the fire,
why not go?
Exactly.
And then she's going to
finish the games and
realize I still have the fire.
Exactly.
And I can mess around and do
other things and.
And still come with.
Season and still come and win.
Exactly.
Exactly.
don't think she'll retire
high rocks I think she's
going to put some more
effort into that too but
she will give up the
greatest marketing ploy
ever brought up by carolyn
privo and and graphed out
by raftaran it's still the
infinity she's just going
to keep winning it works it
is it is a great marketing
to do though to do that
eight there infinity
I don't know.
I just think with her daughter, you know,
starting to get a little
bit older where it's going to be,
you want to be there for certain parts of,
you know, her development in her life.
I just see her maybe taking
a little bit of a step back.
CJ says she has an addiction
problem for sure.
Part of me when I wrote this
was I'm being facetious.
Because I didn't really think this.
But then I'm like, she could finish and go,
well,
I am only two away from like ten in
a row.
Or not ten in a row, but ten.
Yeah.
Ten minus the one year.
And then it's only two more years.
Yep.
Good point as well.
Also depends on what the new owners do.
That's true.
Yep, we'll see what the prize purse is.
Owners could make the money less,
keep it the same,
or make a million for the first.
You never know.
Ain't never going to be a
million right now.
No.
Okay.
Okay.
Here we go.
Last one, and the most important one.
Fact or fiction?
Scott,
the lifelong Bears fan will turn
into a twelve-year-old boy
if he gets to meet Tyson Bajent.
Fact.
You're just a little too
composed for me to say fact to this.
I think you will be ecstatic,
but you will not be
I am really composed around CrossFitters.
I've done it, and I do pretty well there.
I don't know.
I think I will turn into a
mush ball if I get to meet Tyson Bajent.
If people don't realize,
I listen to two types of podcasts,
CrossFit, Chicago Bears, all day long.
That's all I listen to.
What if you interview him?
oh lord I don't know I don't
know someone check on scott
yeah see I need to make it
there saturday if that's
what day is coming just to
see this and just throw
down on him okay I think I
think we need to make that
interview happen
Grey Worm, I follow everything Bears,
from number one on the
depth chart to the
fifty-third man on the roster.
Every bit of it.
Oh, my gosh.
I would... I'm getting
goosebumps right now
thinking about the possibility.
Right.
Someone clip that and send it to Tyson.
Well, I just wanted to...
Clock,
would you also gush if you met Carm?
No.
And Carm is the host of one
of the podcasts that both
Clock and I watch.
Even though Clock denied it
the first time I asked him,
I keep seeing him in the chat.
But yeah, I would not gush over Carm.
Adam Hogue, maybe.
Carm, never.
All right,
so that's Factor Fiction for this week.
We also got a big announcement today.
Carolyn shared that.
I need to get to banners.
There we go.
And that is,
we got a big announcement
today that an old
CrossFitter is dusting off
the Metcons and heading
back out onto the floor one last time.
And I'm going to try to look
it up real quick.
So if you did not see this today,
a team member of one of the
teams out there lost a
member due to injury and
Miss Kristen Holta is going
to fill in due to an
unfortunate injury to Ingrid Hodenmeier.
She is out and I have been
asked to step in for team
CrossFit Oslo Krieger.
When your team needs you, you show up.
So there is Kristen Holta as
the new team member for team Oslo-Krager.
What do we think about that?
It's not a bad replacement, huh?
It's not a bad replacement.
Man.
Grant, or CJ, talk to her at NorCal.
Stoked to see her back on the floor.
One of the best CrossFitters of all time.
That's a huge advantage.
Yeah,
just a sub that maybe a former podium
finisher.
Always like top, definitely always top ten,
but like around the seventh
place and yeah.
CJ asks, did they get better?
She's a different type of athlete.
Like Ingrid's super, super strong.
I think Ingrid had a baby last year.
Am I wrong thinking that?
Ingrid's very, very strong,
but Holt is just so well-rounded.
They're better.
There's no way that you
can't be better at having
Chris and Holt on your team.
Yeah, I don't know that at the downgrade.
Hopefully it brings some
eyes to the team competition.
There's some teams that are
going to be really good this year.
Grey Worms saying Mayhem wins?
I don't know.
Invictus is strong.
Literally.
Well, they have Danny.
That's Danny's team, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Isn't that like Danny Chandler?
Is Jesse doing it again?
I thought so.
So it's Danny, Jesse.
I don't know.
I don't think it's Jesse.
I think it's Emily Reth.
Oh, it is Emily?
Over Jesse?
I think it's Emily Rethwill.
We're so good at the team stuff.
I have not been...
nope that's not where I've
been it's a great team
nonetheless though but I
don't think chandler and
jesse are doing it it's uh
emily and danny I think are
the females and the males
is it still el chama no no
bill and it's danny okay
allison's got it do all
since phil sean danny emily
okay which danny and emily
are completely different
athletes right if you talk
about one of the best
runners in the field like
emily is a great great
runner comes from a track
background and then danny
not as as good of a runner
but so strong and emily I
think would say that she's
probably not the strongest
um but then the gymnastics
wise I think both are good
so I think that's a pretty
good compliment for like
both females yeah I'm not
familiar with them phil
mozzarella which is actually muscatella
Muscarella.
Muscarella.
I read that and I saw
nothing wrong with that name.
Phil Muscarella.
Yeah.
Phil Toon.
Oh boy.
Yeah.
We don't need to talk Phil Toon anymore.
So yeah, that was big news.
Kristen coming back.
I think that's awesome.
Yeah.
We also heard this week that
Brookwell says goodbye.
Yeah.
It was her dream to do ten.
She's doing ten.
She's launching at the end of the month.
I've already given my
opinion on where she's going to finish,
which was not high.
Jamie thought she would finish high,
but she has had a pretty amazing career.
She has.
I think she dominated the syndicate crown,
though,
and there were some great athletes there.
I just think she had a
better front end than a back end of that,
and I worry about sustained
volume over a long weekend.
She finished lower teens at the WFP.
Do you think if there was a Hall of Fame,
Brooke would be in it?
sure yeah that's a long
career like there's not a
lot of athletes that have
done ten individual right
on the female side is like
did rebecca would do ten
with the individuals or is
that with the masters I
know she's past that now
but yeah like I don't know
that many that have ten on
the female side
But, yeah, absolutely.
Like,
I think that she was – she played a
critical part in, you know,
the growth of the sport
marketing herself.
Like, look at how many followers she has.
I think she has, like,
close to a couple millions.
Yeah,
I think she would be a no-brainer for
a Hall of Fame.
Kenneth Leps's first ballot vote.
Meredith,
anyone with that long of a career
should be in the Hall of Fame.
I don't want to make that
statement because you'd
have to see what the career was.
I think it's so hard to do
ten years individual.
Agreed.
I think that what she's done
is pretty hard to do.
Did she ever podium?
I don't think she did.
I think she finished fourth one year.
Did she finish fifth at the
Ranch Games in twenty twenty?
She did.
Like Tia with this year.
Has ten as well, right?
With her to second place and then.
Yes, possibly eight.
yeah that's crazy too when
they were doing the road to
the games and she was like
again and then I won again
and then I won again I was
like my god that's it oh
just just kept saying and
then I came back and won
again no crossfit does not
have a hall of fame I just
said if they did
I think the longevity is fine,
but she also had a ton of
top ten finishes.
Yeah.
Right.
She's been a very good athlete.
Yeah.
All right.
Last thing on the list is
demo team was announced this week.
And it ended up being.
Sure.
I did not write it down, of course.
But one thing I've been
talking about this week,
and Carolyn can speak to this,
is it's a really cool thing
to be invited to the demo team,
but it can be a great advantage.
From the last three years,
forty-one percent of the
people on the demo team are
in this year's games.
So that's telling you that
they've learned something
in that time with Dave and testing,
and then now can translate
that into what you can do
with your career.
And so we have Caroline Stanley,
we have Kyra Milligan,
we have Christine Kohlenbrander,
we have Royce Dunn, Nate Ackerman,
and... Rafa Sanson.
Rafa Sanson.
Yeah, it's pretty good.
Carolyn, your experience?
I had a great experience.
I would never turn that down.
I think it was really cool
to look at the behind the
scenes and how much they
really care about getting
the right stimulus, the right program,
everything done well.
Yeah,
it was a unique way to test the games
without being there because
when you're inviting
someone to be on the demo team,
you're inviting some of the
people that are just on the bubble,
which is why you are
grabbing good people that
can qualify the next year
or within a couple of years normally.
I thought it was a great
experience when I did it.
I got to meet
you know, really cool people on the staff,
um,
and just kind of experience the games
in a different, unique way.
Um, yeah, I love my experience.
There's just, and we've talked about it,
you know, you talked about it on your,
on your lunch.
So like,
there's some perception sometimes
when certain athletes are
chosen on the demo team
that are affiliated with training camps.
Um,
like I'm not a part of a training camp.
So like,
I didn't really talk to any of the
athletes.
Like, like it was like a high, but like,
I'm not going in their hotel rooms,
you know, during that weekend,
I'm not talking, you know,
with their coaches,
they're like my friends and
just sitting down because like,
you're not putting yourself
in any position where it looks bad.
Um, and like,
you don't want to give any information.
So I just hope that there's, um,
know no leaks like there's
been leaks almost every
single year whether it's
the demo athletes or
whether it's the testing
athletes or people that are
present during testing
because it doesn't
necessarily needs to be the
athletes it could be other
people that are present but
you know the perception of
having you know a couple
mayhem athletes on the demo
team proven even brute I
think I think rafa's brute
if I'm not mistaken I don't
know what's christine is
she anything or no
but it's also hard to find
good athletes that are
going to be testing and
like not affiliated with
some sort of um people so
you hope that they take
their ndas seriously um
Like I know I do and I want
nothing more than a fair competition.
Like I don't want to give
any advantage to anyone
when I test workouts for a
rogue the last couple of years.
And no one even knew that until, you know,
my picture was posted and I was like,
you just don't talk about it.
But yeah,
you just want to make sure that
it's a fair competition in
terms of no information and everyone,
you know,
is getting the same information
at the same time.
Because I think that's really important.
Um, cause it's just, yeah, you, you want,
you want a fair chance.
Uh,
I heard athletics asks Caroline out of
curiosity,
is there anything in place to
make the demo team not
share any information with the outside?
You mentioned NDAs.
Yeah, there's,
there's an NDA that you sign.
Um, absolutely.
Um,
but you still have athletes that will
go and hang out sometimes
like outside of once through,
once you're done with your
job for the day, you're testing.
can still kind of walk
around and normally you
kind of stay together as a
demo team but you still in
the evening there's nothing
that's like stopping you
from going into someone's
hotel room and saying
whatever like if I'm being
honest like you could and
no one would know that like
some people take the nda
seriously like I like
that's what I'm saying is I
I take my nda extremely
seriously and it's like
Yeah.
Like I've had some people
try to DM me on Instagram
and had wanted to ask
questions and it's like, no.
Even just stimulus,
like how did that feel?
What was your time?
It's like you shouldn't talk
about anything.
Like you shouldn't even say
what your time was.
I think that's an advantage
in saying this was my time.
Like you shouldn't talk
about anything that you tested,
whether like if they can go
and test it or they can
have their partners test it
if they want at their
affiliate somewhere else.
But you shouldn't give any
information of the test that you did.
That's how I've always looked at the NBA,
and that's how I've always
felt that you should treat
being like a tester or demo team.
Judy Reed asks,
does demo team literally go
out and demo the workout on
the floor prior to the game's athletes?
And then you can chime in here too,
but Allison jumps in.
Who was captain of the demo team twice?
Demo the briefings, sometimes on the floor,
but it's rare, testing some events.
yeah so like testing the
good thing is a lot of the
individual events have
already been like I would
say what half have been
released so far so I mean
with the possibility of
twists that could still
happen but they'll test a
lot of times also the team
workouts not just the
individual or we even
tested some of the adapted
stuff too which was cool
Um, but yeah, you can, you,
you do the briefings and everything else.
When was the last time
CrossFit took action on it
for a breached NDA?
Not sure they have in a while.
They used to really harshly
back in the day.
I have not heard of that lately.
And heard says,
does it come with a
four-year ban if they catch
you sharing info?
That was actually a question
we posed on this show.
Should CrossFit,
A breached NDA result in the
same type of ban as a
performance enhancing drug suspension.
But no, it does not.
Bothers a lot.
But I do think like a lot of
people do take their NDAs
very seriously and, you know,
Like I'm not saying that
like everyone's leaking everything,
but I'm just saying it's
the perception that it
doesn't look good when you see
you know your twin sister on
the demo team or you see um
people that are best
friends with athletes or
training buddies or
whatever it just doesn't
look good especially when
you're not part of a
training camp and you have
no information ever on
anything and you see that
sometimes training camps do
have some some additional
information like the
perception of always picking
athletes that are part of
training camp is feels like
you're on the outside of
knowing some stuff when you compete.
uh allison scuds yeah for
what it's worth there is
likely very difficult to
prove breach of nda but yes
like carolyn said it comes
down to athletes integrity
unfortunately which is why
the selection process is
super important um that's
my point raf likes the
suspension maybe two years
for a breach of nda yep I'd
like that I think that's fair so
Yeah.
Good conversations tonight, y'all.
I like it.
Yeah.
That's what we're here for.
We don't always agree,
but we at least talk about it.
Does knowing the workout a
few days ahead really make
that much of a difference?
Absolutely.
If, if you know the workouts,
you get someone else to
test that workout for you, film it,
send you a video.
You can watch one of the top
athlete that didn't make it
to the games or someone else test it,
get the stimulus.
This is how you want to break it up.
Anything at this level,
any information earlier can help.
And if you don't,
could you change the way
that you approach the workout?
Yes.
When these events are being released,
if you don't think that
camps and athletes are doing just that,
having their friends do the workouts,
have their friends doing
part of the workouts,
testing different ways of
doing the workouts, you're crazy.
The athlete doesn't even
have to do it themselves.
And those are for the ones
that even just... Like,
there's been five workouts released.
So...
Yeah, happens all the time.
