Back in the day, Netflix actually encouraged people to share passwords. That came to a screeching halt a year ago—and it was a move that paid off. It was a bit of a gamble, but many freeloaders signed up for their own accounts. 13 million in the last quarter.
Disney CEO Bob Iger talked about this last year. Starting March 14th, Disney will be adding limitations on sharing accounts outside of the primary household. It’s a 3-for-one move affecting Disney Plus, ESPN Plus and Hulu.
