what is going on everybody

welcome it is lunchtime

lunch with the Clydesdale

we are back for another day

you know what that means

it's time for another dart

throw here we go dart in

hand uh went high again today

I think I got double nines

on that one but at least

I'm staying inside the

staying inside the numbers

a little bit um but we got

that one off uh corey's

already here that's awesome

I got a bone to pick with

you corey I was watching

cat show from last night

and I think your quote was

hey cat this is the best

show on the channel dude

you're on the channel

You were on the channel.

I'm just kidding.

Cat show was great last night.

If you had any doubts that

she was going to be

completely transparent,

those doubts had to have

gone away last night

because she told everything how it was,

man.

So yeah, if you have not seen the show,

I know it's starting to

become everybody's favorite date show.

So make sure you check that,

that check that out every

week on Wednesday at five

PM Eastern time.

Um,

and encourage her to

encourage her to keep doing it.

Um, she's three weeks in, man, we gotta,

we gotta make sure she

keeps doing it and whether

it stays with like dating

and maybe she finds someone,

maybe it evolves into something else.

Um,

she's just too good at like sharing

stuff to not have a space

on this channel and to have a show.

So make sure you encourage

her to keep doing that.

Um,

Because, yeah,

I actually was listening to

it this morning as I was

trying to do some testing at work.

And I've known Kat for five years.

I know how she is.

And it's so cool that she's

being that way on the air.

and and that's just how she

is like when we were

hanging out at a hotel or

hanging out at an airbnb or

hanging out at an event

somewhere like she just

that's how who she is um

meredith says she lays it

out there she sure does uh

she ain't scared to share

she put it all out there

she sure did and andrew

says if she finds someone

though the show will end I

don't I hope not I hope not

just hope it evolves into

something different right

um because she has thoughts

on a lot of different

things in and around

fitness and the space and

life and kids and the whole

thing and um and I I just

hope it evolves uh as as

she finds somebody because

we don't want her to date

the rest of her life just

for our entertainment um we

do want her to find someone

during this process so

I saw this on Instagram

today and I think this fits, um,

this fits my thoughts of

the day pretty well.

Uh, so I wanted to share that real quick.

Uh,

Mark safe from turning myself into a

box stall today.

My Instagram feed is so full of box dolls.

I don't,

and I don't even know how to do it.

I, I'll be honest.

Um,

I try to keep up with as

much technology as I can

doing this podcast thing

and coming on here every

day and doing reels and

different things like that.

But, man, when it gets to the AI stuff,

man, I am really,

really way behind the curve for sure.

So...

I see them everywhere.

Some of them are really cool.

I really like the way that

it adds the components

around the side to kind of

tell you about that person.

But again,

I don't know how any of it's done.

So there you go.

Andrew Sten says,

it's like the aging thing

from a few years ago.

Something new pops up and

everyone does it and it gets annoying.

Yep.

Yeah, I know, like,

I did the AI thing where it printed out,

like,

twenty different versions of you in

an AI.

Like, some look like you were in Star Wars,

some... I don't know.

Yeah.

That happened, too,

and everybody had their AI

portraits done.

So, yeah.

It seems like she can easily

chat on any topic.

She sure can.

That's really how, like, we met.

Like, we met...

A mutual friend of ours told

me that she had a really cool story.

I had her on the show as a guest.

It's one of the few people

I've done a pre-interview

with before because she was

nervous and just wanted to

kind of walk through it.

And from that moment, we became really,

really good friends because

we could just talk about

anything and anything.

And it's been a fun five

years having her as a friend.

And it's really cool seeing

her have this much

popularity with a show and

it be pretty successful so far.

So yeah, awesome stuff.

So I guess there's a bit of

news in the CrossFit space.

If people did not see,

there was an announcement

last night from one Miss

Tia Claire Toomey that she

was going to be saying

goodbye at the Torian Pro

to this chapter in her life.

I know a lot of people are...

hung up on the fact that she

just is saying goodbye.

She didn't really say she's retiring.

I guess I'm having a hard

time finding the clip she

put on Instagram.

But she's also on the Proven podcast,

so here we go.

She put out,

this is from her YouTube video.

It is a clip from her

YouTube video that she put

on Instagram where she talks about

as most of you know in may

I'm taking the floor at the

torian pro and so it's been

known that she was going to

go to the torian pro uh

there have been predictions

that that would be her last

event we kind of

we brought up those thoughts

on the Sunday night show a

while back that is it

possible that Torian be her

last show or her last show,

her last competition and

her just walk away.

And I think the only like

feedback that I got from

anybody was that it's a

weird place in the season

to kind of call it.

because you're midway

through the season and then

you're just hanging it up.

And so it just seems a little bit weird,

the timing of it all.

But I think if you look at

last season and the way it ended,

I believe that there was a

good chance that last

season was going to be it for her.

But because of the things

that transpired at the games,

she was unable to retire.

And I could be wrong.

This is like a large

assumption on my part.

And then after the season,

she started looking in

other avenues to kind of

find her passion.

And, um,

And she found it in some

other things that she can

put her fitness toward.

And then she decided, Hey, why?

I think just in the off season,

she decided, Hey,

I'll do the open enough to qualify.

I'll get my invite to the

Torian pro and I'll go back

home and I'll say goodbye

in front of my own fans.

And I think that's cool.

It's just weird.

It's in the middle of the season.

But I totally get why you

would want to be in front

of your home crowd where

all your family could be there,

all of your friends, where it all started,

and you could finish it

right there in front of everybody.

So,

although I do think it's weird in the

middle of the season, and then, you know,

it'll be one of those if she wins,

she's not going, she's going to decline,

so the next two people get to go.

But I think we can live with

all that for the greatest

person to ever compete in

CrossFit decides to hang it up.

Weird to be winning two and

then relinquishing that

spot to the runner-up.

think it's weird but she is

the goat I think she's the

greatest crossfitter of all

time and if she wants to do

it in front of her home

crowd um this is the

biggest competition that australia has

um but if it is her last why

not announce before touring

to give her country time to

buy tickets and so I

completely agree t-bird I

think that that's what this

is about it is to get

everybody that she wants to

be there uh the opportunity

to be there I'm sure she's

told people close to her

before this announcement um

but I do think

torian has never had a hard

time selling tickets so I

don't think like they were

struggling to sell tickets

but I um but I think yeah

that's kind of it um might

she just be stringing us

along again will she one

hundred percent compete in

high rocks maybe go team I

really I mean what else is

there for her to accomplish

I, I think like you've won seven times.

Um,

I think she wants to do something that

challenges her, uh, helping says,

and I did see this right

before I went on air.

Uh,

she now has an hour long pod out today.

Haven't watched all of it,

but there are some tidbits.

She says she isn't doing

online semis that she

started high rocks because

CrossFit was moving more online.

Okay.

I know that she has said

doing High Rocks gives her

that community feel.

Meredith says on Barbell Spin,

they wondered if she was

going to do Rogue.

She's a Rogue athlete,

so I'm sure she's going to

get an invite because she is Tia.

if she wants to do it or not

at the very least,

she's going to get an

invite to be at legends and

get all the same stuff that

every other athlete gets

and just get to hang out for the weekend.

Um, so, but I, I,

that thing that Mike said about, uh,

that CrossFit's moving more

online and her wanting to

be more with the community,

that actually rings out

pretty true to me of a

reason why someone would

want to walk away,

especially after seven titles, man.

Like she's just, she's done it all.

She wants to compete though.

Like in competing online is not the same.

I mean,

I talked to Carolyn and Jamie about

this all the time, you know,

Jay Burch says,

I hear Torian's a great

place to volunteer.

I hear Torian is just a great place to go,

period.

Like, it is a rock show.

Darren Hunsaker.

Darren Hunsaker said, dang,

I was just about to post my retirement.

I'll wait.

Yeah,

I think Darren missed that ship a

while back.

Halpin says,

I could see her doing Waza

Sokal again as well.

Yeah, she's into that team stuff.

And it looked like from the

tier behind the scenes,

she had every bit of the

fire in that event as she

does at any other event.

have one criticism with the

way that it kind of went

down at tier so socal but

I'm gonna save that for

another time because this

is about tia and what she's

accomplished and the kudos

that she deserves um moving

forward because she is she

is the greatest crossfitter

I've ever seen um I think

what's crazy is it

completely changes the

dynamic of this year's

crossfit game season

Because with her out and Laura out,

it is completely wide open

as to who is going to win

the CrossFit Games this year.

It is going to make it epic

in a way that I have been...

hoping for in a while that

we just do not know who's going to win.

And that's,

what's made the men's side so

exciting right now is you

have a group of like five,

six guys who all have the copy,

all have the capability of

winning the CrossFit games.

And now you're going to have

the same on the women's side.

The predictions are going to

be insane because it could

be any of a group of

Ken Walter says,

must be nice to be able to

pass up on three hundred

fifty K automatic check for

at least the next three to five years.

Well,

I think calling it an automatic check

is a little bit of a misnomer.

She still has to put in the work.

She still has to go win the

competition to get the

three hundred fifty K. And

this year it ain't going to

be three hundred fifty K

with the open signups.

It is not anywhere near three fifty.

But I get what your point is,

but at some point her body

is going to break down a little bit.

Uh,

T bird wants to go to Tori and just to

see Mr. Mr. Perform.

They're so great.

Oh my gosh.

I haven't heard that name in a long time.

They were so big when I was

in high school.

So big.

I had the cassette and I

used to listen to it on my

Walkman on my way to my swim meets.

um ken says but she is tia

she is but like we're all

human we're all human and

nothing in life is

guaranteed who is next up

to be the champ that I I

would need to really sit

down and think about who I

think is next up to be

champ and I want to see who qualifies

I think it's much harder to

qualify for the games this

year than it's been in the years past.

So I want to see who makes it through, um,

before I really sit down

and analyze who I think is

going to win the games.

So, um,

but it it was just a crazy

announcement um I I

wouldn't say like I'm super

shocked I I mean I heard

John Young predict this I

heard other people kind of

predict it when it was said

it made sense to me um so

when I saw it it wasn't too

shocking but what

I do want to say is we'll

talk about this more on

Sunday night because I want

to get Carolyn and Jamie's

perspective on this.

But she's the greatest

living CrossFitter in the world.

She's won seven times.

Most of those years,

it wasn't even questioned

whether she was going to win or not,

that she won by such a

dominating fashion.

But she was involved in

probably the three best

finishes on the women's

side at the CrossFit Games.

two of them she did not win

when it was Sarah Catron

and her in two thousand

fifteen and sixteen all

with a chance to win in

both of those years going

into the final event.

That was amazing.

And then in two thousand seventeen,

the most epic finish ever

with her and Cara Saunders

going down the floor and

Cara Saunders getting that

no rep on the kettlebell

overhead right before the finish line.

And then Tia winning by just

a point or two.

I don't know the exact spread that was,

but it was so stinking close.

And people did not know

which Australian had won

until it was announced on the floor.

But before her dominating performances,

she was part of the three

greatest finishes on the

women's side of the CrossFit Games.

And so because of all that,

in the first two years,

nobody even really knew who she was.

She wasn't even in the documentaries.

Like nobody filmed her

because they didn't think

she had a chance.

And she finished a second,

both of those years.

And then in her coming out

party to have that epic

finish against Cara to win

the CrossFit Games just

took her to another level.

And after that, there was no looking back.

After that,

nobody could even hold a candle

to what she was doing.

And then she dominated the

sport from that point forward.

And the only event she

hasn't won since then on

the individual side was

Rogue when she came back

six months postpartum and

took second in that event,

which is completely insane.

Uh,

the twenty sixteen doc was hilarious

with them talking about how

they missed her.

That was twenty fifteen when

they they missed her

completely and she's in

like the last two minutes of the doc.

Twenty set twenty sixteen is

where she had the meltdown

after because she lost and

she had lost all confidence in herself.

And if you look at that

moment and at that point in time,

she didn't know what her future was.

And then to see where it is now,

oh my gosh, like the,

the climb from that time at

the end of the

to what she became.

I mean, she was beaten down.

She was crying because she

had lost all confidence in

herself and the ability to

win the CrossFit Games.

And after that moment,

she went back to the lab.

She got her stuff together.

She comes back in twenty

seventeen and win seven

CrossFit Games since.

Only one of those years did she not win,

and that's because she

wasn't there because she had given birth.

what what an amazing feat my

my faith you know I started

my my crossfit life and on

the competitive side as a

volunteer and I was

volunteering at the games

when that went down oh my

gosh to be there that day

for that finish was

incredible just completely

incredible uh one of the

favorite memories in my life

But you can take nothing

away from this woman.

What she did after that,

she left everybody in her

dust from that point forward.

So super happy for her.

You know, you can tell she is

knee deep in love with

Willow and loves that girl to death.

It wouldn't surprise me if

she wants to build a bigger

family as well.

And it's the perfect time

for her to go do that.

Corey Leonard says,

I still laugh at Pat

Sherwood talking about Cara

being faster because she

didn't do all the reps.

Cara didn't do all the reps.

It's faster if you don't.

True.

Still epic, epic CrossFit games that year.

so uh that is the tia story

um I'm we will talk more

about it sunday night for

sure um carolyn got to

compete against her I'd

love to hear her

perspective uh and jamie

has been around the scene

for all of that I'd love to

get her perspective so

we'll talk about that for

sure on sunday night and

get some of their greatest

memories of tia uh the

other thing I wanted to

talk about is and we've

been talking about this for

a couple days is the

age group semifinalists are

getting more validated

videos over the last few days.

And I said yesterday that

that Carolyn got all of hers validated.

She posted that on her

Instagram and she ended up

moving from third to first.

And so she ended up winning

She ended up winning the

semifinal for the thirty

five to thirty nine year old division.

If all things hold true,

someone would have to gain

points in order to pass her

and not have points taken away.

But she has a forty a thirty

nine point lead in first

place now after all of the

video reviews and hers are all valid now.

And then I did find out yesterday,

last night actually,

that Jamie got all of hers

validated as well.

And she moved from eighth to sixth.

So she moved up two spots.

So congratulations to my two

co-hosts as they are,

now that all videos are validated,

have qualified for the CrossFit Games.

so uh I cannot wait the fact

that they're here in my

hometown man I'm like I

know I have said I'm having a party

I'm having a cookout.

Something is happening here

at my house that week.

I'm celebrating what's going on there.

And I can't wait to be able

to cover those here in my hometown,

sleep in my own bed for the entire week.

That's going to make things awesome.

So

Couldn't be more excited about that.

Now I've got to get my request out to Joe,

see if I can do behind the scenes again,

put together a killer team

this year to make sure that

we cover it well and get a

good product out after all of this.

Corey said there's been a

bunch of movement in forty

five to forty nine.

I think people have been

getting some serious score

adjustments because I'm

back to seventy six now.

It's been moving a bunch.

Yeah, man, you keep climbing.

What,

you're only forty forty forty six

away now.

Just forty six more adjustments, man.

So.

Yeah, I haven't done a deep dive.

I know Halpin has like the

spreadsheets with the

Google Docs with all the adjustments.

I haven't had an opportunity

to go look at it yet.

But it's going to be fun.

It's going to be fun.

Corey says year forty eight

of not making the games.

happens is my friend Dave

Powell is second in six to

sixty four my gym will be

there in Columbus to cheer

him on yeah I just want to

and I could not be more

excited for that at all I

was I was telling my wife

last night like my next

couple weeks are insane I'm

generally an extrovert and

I and I am cool with like

cool with like being out on

the road doing stuff around

people but starting

tomorrow it's Easter

weekend my daughter's

coming home with her two

dogs we're gonna have

Easter she has to do some

pictures some senior

pictures for some people

then we have to run her to

get a pickup truck

that she is going to use to

go to Montana in,

and then she's going to buy

a car out there.

So we have to get her and

it's like two and a half

hours away where the pickup truck is.

So we've got to get her there.

And then I get my second car

back and we'll drive that back home.

Then at some point early this week,

I have to get in my car,

drive to Pittsburgh,

help her load up the pickup

truck and the trailer.

Then come back home.

Then she's going to come

across from Pittsburgh to Columbus,

pick me up,

and then we're going to head to Montana.

So that goes all the way

till the end of next week

into the weekend.

We're moving her into her

apartment next weekend.

Monday, I will fly home.

Tuesday through Friday, I work again.

Then that weekend is my

mom's eightieth birthday,

so we're going to

Pennsylvania to celebrate

her eightieth birthday.

Then after that, two days later,

my wife is having her

second total knee replacement,

so I've got to take her in

for that and then be her

caretaker after we get her

home that Tuesday night.

And then WFP is that weekend.

And I think after thinking about all this,

I'm just going to watch that from home.

Because I just can't... I

can't keep hammering the

gas and expect to come out

on the other side okay.

So...

So Denise said,

my training partner has all

her videos validated.

She won fifty five to fifty nine.

That's Cindy Hinkle.

Cindy's awesome.

So you should be so proud of her.

So she took first.

You took fourth.

Awesome job, Denise.

Probably doing what I did in

Birmingham again,

but would like to help Andrew Sten.

I didn't see what Andrew said.

I did take the advanced

judges course if your team needs help.

Um, maybe Margo will be in Montana.

Maybe.

I don't know where Margo is.

I should reach out to her.

Um, cause my,

my daughter will be in great falls,

Montana, uh, working for, I,

now I can't even remember

the name of the company off

the top of my head.

Um,

So yeah.

And then we're, and again, I've,

I'm really looking forward

to the time with my daughter next week.

Um, and,

and just kind of hanging out and bonding.

Um,

not so much or two dogs because I'm

allergic to them,

but we'll figure that out somehow,

some way.

Um,

But yeah,

it's going to be a rough few

weeks and sometimes I just

need to relax and I don't

get that until sometime mid-May.

Halpin said,

even the old athletes are too

fast for me to judge.

Yeah, some of them are pretty damn fast.

It is insane.

Um, Margo lives in Vegas.

She, she does,

but I think that I still

think she has property in Montana.

I, I think I need to reach out and see,

honestly,

I haven't talked to Margo in a while.

I used to talk to her all the time.

So, but yeah,

so that's next couple of weeks.

And, um,

I did break down and buy an

iPad with self-service so

that I could do the show from the road.

Um,

So we're going to do that as well.

Um, so I think on my trip across country,

um, I'm still going to do the lunch show.

Come on.

And wherever we're at, um,

wherever we're at, we'll stop.

Maybe it's Mount Rushmore.

Maybe it's the Badlands.

Maybe it's just some field in Iowa.

I don't know.

We'll, uh,

We'll stop and hang out.

It's not Iowa.

I'm not even going through Iowa,

but maybe one of the

Dakotas or Minnesota or one

of those places.

I'll stop.

Maybe I'll stop in Minnesota

and see Ken Walters.

Who knows?

But we're going to take the iPad.

We're going to do the show from the road.

So maybe you get to see some

sights and sounds of the

road while we're on the way.

And I'll do Sunday Night CrossFit talk,

not this week,

but next week from Montana.

So should be really fun.

Once everything is solidified,

you'll be doing age group

interviews again.

Uh, should be.

Yeah.

I'm really slow for some reason.

Like I've just been really

slow on the interviews this year.

Um,

I don't know why.

I don't know why I,

I did the one with Ariel.

I did Hattie Cano had Justin color on.

Um, but yeah,

I need to pick up the pace of

that a little bit.

It seems like everybody that

pops into my head to have

on the show has either just

been on a show or is just

going to be on a show or

they're just going to a

competition and I don't

want to interrupt until

they're done with that comp.

So it's, uh,

But yeah,

the age group athletes are the

most fun for me.

And I really want to dive

into that and dive into

what happens at the games

and doing the behind the scenes again,

because that was so much fun.

I have some ideas of who I

want my dream team to be.

So I want to put together a

team that does some amazing

stuff at the Masters

CrossFit Games to get some

fun interviews.

But we'll see.

We'll see where we go from there.

Well, guys,

it's been a wild morning at work.

I think this is going to be

it for today so I can get

back to it and get caught

up on all of that stuff.

But it's been fun again.

You guys are the best, as always.

Love each and every one of you.

And I know,

I think it was that yesterday

someone asked, Lynn asked about, oh,

it was Sunday night.

Lynn asked about meet and greets.

We really got to get better about that.

If we are going to an event,

we need to set up like a

meet and greet where people

can come hang out.

And the group that hangs out

with us can hang out and

get to know each other,

the people from the chat, all that stuff.

Yeah.

so I will do better with

that too if we're going to

some event we will set up a

meet and greet where we can

hang out we can take

pictures we can have fun

whatever it is but we are

definitely doing a meet and

greet barbecue at my house

for the masters crossfit

games I am telling you that

so there you have it uh

halpin said you should own

the masters interviews those are great

I will do those again.

Those are a lot of fun.

And they're really low pressure.

It's just... And this is just some...

inside baseball,

but it's the research on

people that aren't super famous.

Like I want to go into an

interview prepared to be able to,

if need be,

carry the interviewee for as

long as I have to,

to make them comfortable to

tell me stories.

So it's,

It's getting to know enough

of their backstory from

research to be able to like

carry it until they get

comfortable and open up and

then tell their own story.

That's kind of my plan with those.

And so it takes a lot of

work away from the

interview to prep for that.

I hope that makes sense.

And Train to Live, if you have someone

that you want me to interview,

definitely send them my way.

What I did last year is I

just put out an open call and I got,

I got a ton of people that, uh,

that wanted to come on and

be interviewed.

I just put it out on Instagram.

If you're a master's athlete

going to the CrossFit games, hop in.

Um, so yeah.

Yeah.

That's what I did and it was

awesome last year.

I actually got to know

Denise from Legends the year before.

I can't wait to see you too, Denise.

Met her and Cindy the year

before she won Legends.

And I did an interview

series where I did all the

champions of the Legends competition.

And then I got to know

people even more with that open call.

Ken Walters wants to know if

helping is incognito.

That's above my pay grade.

I can't tell.

I can see comments.

So the software we have

shows me comments that are

happening on YouTube,

even though I'm not on

YouTube as we speak.

And then it gives me the

ability to pull those over or not.

And it actually shows me

comments from Facebook, Twitch,

and YouTube.

So...

And thankfully,

most of you on YouTube

can't see the Twitch

comments because they are

wild and bizarre sometimes.

But... None of them are...

There's no comments from Twitch today.

Thank goodness.

I shouldn't say thank goodness.

We love our Twitch followers.

But man, sometimes they get wild.

So...

And Denise can see Halpin's comments.

And so can Andrew.

So it just must be Ken.

All right, guys.

What's been another fun day.

I am actually starving too.

I'm actually ready to go

have lunch as the Clydesdale.

Um,

I made these really good burgers last

night on the grill.

And I think I'm going to go

have one of those.

Uh,

I'm going to have one of

those and what should I have with it?

Maybe some veggies.

Anyway, I'm starving.

I'm going to go do that.

You knuckleheads get back to work.

Lunchtime is over.

Thank you for being here.

Love you all.

See you next time, guys.

Lunch with the Gladstale.

Bye.
