Wallace Day 00:00:07 Guys, welcome back to the herd. We are your hosts. I'm Wallace Day and I'm Francesca Allen. And today we're going to be drinking. Responsibly. Responsibly. Today we're going to be having a little gin. Yeah. You know, also little G and T amongst friends. Exactly. Because bikinis might be out and blazers might be back in. But summer does not end there. Cheers. Cheers. I can't reach you. I know I'm gonna stretch. Cheers. Who do you know? Ooh. Oh, that. Slaps. Slaps. That is so good. It's so refreshing. You know what it's given me? Summer nostalgia. It's like almost got a fruity kind of. It's really light. So. So what are we drinking this episode, Fran? So we are having a little gin two, but not any regular gin. This is Papa salt. It is so good. It's like their coastal drink. You can see her hair. Yeah. Look how beautiful the bottle is. The bottle is stunning.
Wallace Day 00:01:13 I know that's actually one of my favorite colors. What? Turquoise. Yeah, I really like it. Yeah, it makes you feel happy. It's quite happy color, isn't it? Yeah. It's actually giving coastal, like, beach vibes. And obviously we've frozen the bottle, so it's so cold and it's lovely and refreshing. But like I love that when it's like now it sparkles with like the little droplets on the outside of the bottle. Yeah. Looks so refreshing, doesn't it? Yeah. It's gorgeous. It's like a bit misty, so it kind of looks like, you know, in bottles wash up on the ocean, and they're, like, a bit misty, a little bit battered. It's kind of like giving that and the little wooden cork on top. I know I love you in the bottle. Yeah. And the message is drink me. Because this is so amazing. It tastes so good. It does taste good. And I have to admit, we are kind of drink connoisseurs at this point.
Wallace Day 00:02:05 Yeah, and I'll be real with you. I'm actually. I'm not a huge gin drinker, but this is so nice. This would totally be my drink of choice if I was out. Yeah. For sure. I drink gin. Yeah, I also drink. Jin Jin Jin, but I also. I always like these around the pool, so it's like that is my go to port. I drink is a G and T or a gin and soda. It's kind of like my go to. It's going to be a pop of salt and soda now. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Because it does really make a difference when you choose your specific specific specific specific it can't be a specific specific drink like this specific brand. Everything has a different flavor. And I'm enjoying it and loving it. Yeah. It's so light and refreshing. And this drink is kind of fruity. I really like it. We've got another, We've got a whole bottle to get through. I was going to say we're going to get there.
Wallace Day 00:02:59 I don't mind. I'm not against it. We just want to make sure that it tastes amazing all the way down. Right, man? Yeah, yeah, it's funny as hell, though, because since I first saw that bottle, I've now been seeing it everywhere, like in bars that I go to in restaurants and I'm like, ooh, Papa salt gin. Yeah. I love that one. Yeah, it's with our fake, our Margot Robbie. Yeah, exactly. With our fave, the one and only Margot Robbie. Is there anything that she cannot do? Sorry, but like, she's got a production company. She's got gin. She's got her fingers in so many pies. She's got movies coming out of her Lego. So she really is a girlboss, a girl of many talents. She's more than welcome in the hood whenever she wants. Yeah. Come on, Margot, come through. I save your papa salt gin. Oh. Did you. Speaking of Margot Robbie, though, did you see her at the Chanel show? Yeah, I loved her outfit.
Wallace Day 00:03:49 Oh, she just looks amazing. Like. sorry, but being a movie star looks good on her. I know she's amazing. She is very beautiful. I did this one time. Get called Margot Robbie. The man on the boat said I look like him. And Ed started laughing his head off. We started. But I mean, she's absolutely stunning and so are you, so I can. I can see how how can I? Not so much, though. You know how I know. He's like, you look like Margot. Then Margot Robbie burst out laughing. I was like, oh, shut that. Who do you get? Yeah. Who do you get? Sorry, I don't know why that was the first thing that came to mind. Best bet is the one and only time I've ever had that. But what a freaking compliment. Come through, honestly. Hell, yeah. That's amazing. I want to be Margot. yeah. No, but her outfit was so cool. It was really relaxed.
Wallace Day 00:04:43 I actually love it. I know, me too. Also, the little, like nakedness underneath, like little black. Was it like a bikini top? Kind of ice? eyes. Yeah. It was like a little different side of Margot that we've seen about, I think. I do enjoy it. like, quite. I don't know when you've got, like, a big jacket on or a blazer, like just having underwear underneath. Yeah. There's something so, like, simple but elegant about it. I love a good mix of, like, feminine and masculine dressing. I just kind of absolutely love it. Yeah, we love, like, a bit of androgynous, don't we? Do in places. But also her hair, like Jennifer Aniston is, like, always known for her hair. But I feel like Margot is almost like the next generation of that, because her hair in everything is just so flawless and there's so much that you can do with it. Her hair is so versatile.
Wallace Day 00:05:30 She's had it in so many different ways and so many different movies, and when I saw her the other day, I think it was a bit straighter than normal. And I was just like, she looks great with that hairstyle as well. Just every hairstyle, every outfit, just she will shave it all off and still look great. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. I got mistakes as Margot once as well. Sorry. Not the doppelgangers. Sorry, sorry. You got another set for that? Yeah. Did you watch it? Yeah. Best day of my life. What happened? Oh, fuck. I fucking put that down. Don't waste it. There was just a little bit. Sorry. I was just so kind of trying to knock it down. No, I was in a restaurant and I was walking through the restaurant with friends, and I had my head down and we were walking through, but Rob was behind, so he heard the people say after a walk past. I think that was Margot Robbie and Rob because he's so noisy.
Wallace Day 00:06:26 He just looks at them and he went, shh. And they were like, oh my God. It is like God, our table or whatever. I remember just going, oh yeah, those people think you were Margot Robbie. And I was like, Rob. And he was like, I just went sh. And I was like, Rob.
Francesca Allen 00:06:43 I love that though.
Multiple Speakers 00:06:45 They're gonna go round after you say that. They so far guys.
Wallace Day 00:06:48 Know it's gonna make them so happy. I know you brought that little bit of joy. A little bit of joy. Yeah. Could have been. I did actually meet her. That one. Did you? Yeah. We had the same management. We were both with 360, and we were at Annabel's in London. And I went to the bathroom and I came out. I was washing my hands by the mirror and someone else comes out. Sounds very next to me. And I look in the mirror and it's Margot Robbie. You look in the mirror and you're like, wait, is that me? Am I seeing double? What's going on here? No, but I was like, I did, like, a double take.
Wallace Day 00:07:28 Oh, no. Like it is. Anyway, she's so nice. She complimented my outfit like she didn't have to. She didn't say anything. She was so nice. And I came back with the. Oh, I think we have, like, a management in common. And yeah, we only split for like five minutes. But she's so nice. Had like, such good energy. Like was so like giving with her time. And. Yeah, it was just like, really nice and really friendly. And then yeah, tonight she probably won't ever remember me, but no, she probably has to tell her about Largo. I mean, everything you hear about her is so positive and so great. Like when Chris was on the show, he was saying how amazing she was and that fact, like, she basically got him a job on the Barbie film. So she's one of the one of the crew, one of the people. Yeah. She comes through when she says things. She. Yeah, she does them.
Wallace Day 00:08:18 Yeah. I will say you're looking very autumnal today, which is fitting because it's officially autumn. I know I do love me my chocolate brown. I'm like, when it gets a bit colder. I do love lean into like the deeper beiges and stuff like that. Yeah. I still like to keep it bright, even though, I mean, not right now. But you know, it's really nice though. I love that cardigan. Thank you Asos is it. Yeah. No way. It's really nice. Thanks. I do a lot of shopping for razors. It's so good because the next day's never let me down. Oh, that's why I tend to. But, no, I, I am quite into, like, the brown burgundies. I keep seeing so much of it. Suede? Yeah. Like, it's really good, you know, like sitting outside the pub. Yeah. Little brown, chocolatey brown suede or faux faux suede. Faux suede. Faux suede blazers and stuff. Little jeans here and half.
Wallace Day 00:09:09 Yeah. Yeah, well, that's what I'm saying. We're coming into autumn, but I'm still bringing my gin through to Christmas with me. It is. I feel like that is a Christmas drink, though. It is. But because we've been drinking this all summer. Yeah. Every time I drink, drink it now, it is giving me some nostalgia, which is so nice. And then it's going to take us through to Christmas, I know. Do you have any plans for Christmas yet, or are we. Are we talking too soon? Oh, gosh, Fran, I don't know. Yeah. You too. I mean, let's get through Halloween first. Yeah. Jesus. We should do an episode, though, on Christmas and our plans and everything. Yeah, we definitely might not be here because I just feel like I just like to be in the sun when it gets that little bit too cold. Yes, it does get cold January for me. It's too cold here. I can't do it.
Wallace Day 00:09:54 Do you know what though? I lowkey do love like the cozy vibe. January. I like this period now. I like it when the leaves turning brown. They're falling off the trees. I like it when the nights get a little bit like darker sooner. Definitely. And you get to cozy up. Hot water bottle, you know, the pumpkins are out, the little lamp lighting everywhere. I love all the little cute lights. Yeah, it is cute, but then when it starts to get really bitter cold and like majority of the day is dark, that's when I call it quits. Yeah, that's when you bounce. I also. But Christmas is actually a really fun time though. Yeah. You got all like the festivals. Everyone's like out wanting to, I don't know, all these fun things. Winter Wonderland. You love winter. I know I do a little bit, but I do love a coat. I freaking love a coat. My coat wardrobe section is is. I love spending.
Wallace Day 00:10:45 I love how much your fashion changes throughout the year and the seasons, but we're fortunate that we can do that because a lot of countries it's you don't get four seasons like we do. So we are really fortunate. Yeah, that is true. Yeah, that is true because we can dress up and look cute. Add layers. I love a good little scarf and I don't mind fitting on some little mitts. It's a little. But, honey, you're in L.A. now. I know you're not experiencing all the seasons. What do you mean? I know, I know, I know, we'll do a country move episode as well. And we'll do a Christmas episode. Yeah, yeah, a full season, but it's fine. Yeah, I know what I mean. You are a big advocate for dressing up for Halloween, aren't you? You go all out, love a Halloween. You go all out. Oh, no. I just really like this whole time of year. And I even like Thanksgiving when people just get together and celebrate, and everyone seems to make more of an effort this time of year.
Wallace Day 00:11:41 And yeah, I love it. Love being with people, socializing, being indoors. Love the excuse to drink. You know me. You know I've never done Thanksgiving. What? What? I'm English, so we've never done it. I think that's quite a common thing. Wait, really? I've never done Thanksgiving. I think maybe because I spent nine years of my life in America. Yeah, that. Wow. Really? Yeah. Oh my gosh. Do you want to come to America for Thanksgiving? Yeah, fair I could. You should. You should come over. I would do that. Yeah. I'm not against it. Sounds like it. Anyway, you say there's a party and some sort of bar. I'll drink to that. It is good. I can't believe you never done Thanksgiving. I know, well, I mean, Christmas is our celebration. It is. It is. Christmas is our celebration. To be fair. Last year, we had it at Ed's family's house.
Wallace Day 00:12:36 Okay. And Ed's dad has, like, downstairs. They have this old bar and, like, games room where the kids would, like, go down. Like, growing up. Teenagers have their friends around and stuff. Obviously, like family parties. They'd kind of, like, go downstairs and have this bar. So there was all these different gins, like all these different gins, like ones I've never even heard of. Some of them were like thick with dust like this. But obviously we had had a few drinks at this point and we'd gone down down there and me and his sister were just like swigging, trying every single one, every single one. It was like, I don't think I would drink that. Something like broke off when you took the lid off and it was like, just a little sip. Oh my gosh. Yeah. Well, how was it? I don't really remember, but it doesn't surprise me. I remember times that I just remember it being quite funny, like trying all these different ones, and they all tasted It very different.
Wallace Day 00:13:35 Some of them are not so great.
Francesca Allen 00:13:36 As others.
Wallace Day 00:13:37 But I feel like this year I'm actually going to have to bring a bottle for his dad. Oh, yeah. You have to. Yeah, yeah. To apologize. Add to the collection. Yeah. And also apologize for drinking all of his tin. It was just a taste test. It was literally a taste test. Actually, these are. That's a really good Christmas present, isn't it? Because also, gin is that kind of drink where you can just drink it throughout the year, like summer, like with, you know, a fruity, I don't know, just like a gin and tonic always goes down so well any time of year, any place. Sorry, but it does don't have so many. Twice. I know it's enough. So you want me? Okay, so if you're enjoying having a drink with us, then be sure to put on your notifications and follow us on all socials at Girls Next Door Show so you don't miss out on another app or another drink.
Wallace Day 00:14:26 We're on our second. I might have a little swig. What's your favorite? Like? Gin based drink. I put soda with everything. Oh, I just love a little bit of lime, actually. Squeezing of that lime. She had a really bad flashback. Why? Oh, it wasn't even that bad. I think about it. How can screw using a lime, give you a bath, give you PTSD? Talk to me. Because you obviously, like, go to a bar. Right. So you and you're on a date, you go to, like, a bar and you have drinks. Yeah. So I would order a gin and soda or whatever. And soda. And I love to squeeze the lime in as you just saw. So I just use my squeezing. And as I was squeezing this lime, this is, you know, you were on a date with your first date. Yeah. Oh, okay. And I was squeezing the lime. Yeah. And it just squirted and, like, shot the geyser in the eye.
Wallace Day 00:15:15 No. It didn't. Yeah.
Multiple Speakers 00:15:17 Yeah, I did you.
Wallace Day 00:15:19 Oh my God. I know, I know. That must have been so painful for him. Oh, no. An ice breaker. Fucking come here. Yeah. And, you know, I mean, like, I really tried he was really trying to play it cool. And he was like, oh no, it's fine, it's fine. And I could just see he was burning. And like me, I don't know. I laugh at everything. And I was laughing and I was making it more awkward and it was like I could see he was like, lowkey, a bit pissed off. Oh my God, was he. Was he trying to. Yeah. Like just squirted in there. Sorry, but that's like one of those times where you can't laugh, but like, you have to say, you're making it worse. I just said, squirted in his eye. I just said, that sounds so annoying. And then I squirted in his eye.
Wallace Day 00:16:07 First day. Squirted in his eye. Oh, no. I'm sweating. He's disgusting. It was the lime. The light was great in his drink. And fans yours fucking out. She's actually number two, isn't it? Yeah, we are actually number two guys, but no. Oh. Bless him. Poor guy. I didn't see him again. I was going to say, was there a second day? Did you get a chance to squeeze it into the other aisle? That must be horrific. Do you know he didn't really have much personality? The fact that he didn't really laugh about getting that. Yeah, I was gonna say. But that might be really painful, though. Of course it's painful, but, like, I don't know. Oh, you know, it was an accident. Yeah. Accidents happen. Yeah. Do you know what, though? That's a pretty good little test to see. Like if someone's got a good character or not. Yeah, like good sense of humor.
Wallace Day 00:16:56 Accidentally. Just, like, squeeze a bit of lime into their eye on the first day. Oh, I don't recommend it. Didn't go down too great. It was very awkward. But no, I know, but I feel like that was to happen to me. I don't know what I would do. I don't know, I feel like I'd laugh it off. Yeah, that was a bit embarrassed, though. Yeah. So I just inflicted pain and someone I barely knew. Sorry, sorry. Oh, yeah. You know what, though? That reminds me. I was so naughty when I was at school. I like when teachers would yell at me and tell me off. I used to pretend that they'd spat in my face because it would sound so weird, but like, it would completely throw them off so there'd be. They'd be like, yelling at me, tell me off and telling me off, and I'd be like, And then I'd be like, oh God. You're such a little shit.
Wallace Day 00:17:44 Yeah. Oh. Oh sorry. I didn't mean to. And then they're apologizing to you. So then I'd be like oh no it's it's fine. It's just sorry. Yeah. Oh my god. The manipulation at like 12.
Multiple Speakers 00:17:54 Gotcha gotcha gotcha in the eye.
Wallace Day 00:17:58 Exactly. Now you're apologizing to me. Hey, I have some lime. Oh, no. Well, my my ginger drink of choice is a martini. I love a martini. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I don't think you can beat them. Quite powerful. That quite punchy. Can't lie. But a good, good old fashioned martini. Yeah. Ooh. Have you ever had an eastern standard? Oh, no I haven't. Oh. It's like, is it like the times. No, it tastes like cucumber. Oh so it was. It'll be gin lime, cucumber. And I think they put a bit of fresh mint in it. Oh nice. It's so good. That's so so good. Yeah. We'll get one after this.
Wallace Day 00:18:39 We'll make one. Yeah. Yeah. We should. I was gonna say, like, the tones and notes that that gin has in because it's so light and fresh and fruity. Yeah, that would go so well. It would, it would. Oh my God. I also like basil in my gin. Oh, yeah. Yeah. It's quite nice. Or ravaged rosemary. It's a good one too. I love rosemary and gin. Yeah. So anything like botanically, like garden with gin? Yeah. I love because it's so refreshing. And it just, like, completes the taste. I don't know how or why, but it just does. Yeah. It's like a grapefruit slice. Always is his go to. No, Rob's the same. Really? He loves a gin with a grapefruit. I get it, though, because it's just so refreshing. Yeah. It Wait. Not wait. You wait. I am. It does wake you up a bit, though. Yeah, no, it does, but certainly puts a.
Multiple Speakers 00:19:30 Rock out your arm.
Wallace Day 00:19:32 It gets.
Multiple Speakers 00:19:33 You ready?
Wallace Day 00:19:34 Yeah.
Multiple Speakers 00:19:35 Let's go. Yeah.
Wallace Day 00:19:39 I can't do that. I'm trying to figure it out, though. Can you see? Yeah, yeah. I'm trying to. I'm gonna be like you in a few months for no reason. I would love to cut it, but I'm also scared. What? I would love to do this. I would look like my mum. I mean, but I can't. A lob, a lob. Yeah. So I'm shooting for a lob. Yeah I quite like a lob. Yeah. It feels very stylish. But my hair is just so curly I don't think I'd maintain a lob very well. Oh no. Fran, your hair is beautiful. So healthy. Oh, no. No, I love it. Yeah, I get scared. It suits you. And apparently, once you get past 30, I think your hair is quite hard to grow. Oh, apparently, I don't know. Oh. I don't know.
Wallace Day 00:20:24 No, I actually am loving the length though that you've got going on now. Don't find it. It's that in between stage where I can't quite tie it up, but it's like, not sure enough to just push back. I was gonna say Elvis Presley. You are so rude. You're so rude. You're so rude. But sick. I really like it. Pixie cut. Is it called? No. Is that, like, length a pixie shorter. Skipping. Diana. Lady. Die! Is a good thing. I love, love, I love, I love her. Don't get me wrong. Of course I love her. But, like, you know, the gin's gone through my head. I'm just giggling. My second one. I was gonna say you've only had one, Lord. So you know it's a good gin. Yeah. It's good. No, I'm really enjoying the length. It is. Oh. Thank you. You're lucky that you can pull it off short like that.
Wallace Day 00:21:18 I would not rock that. Well, thank you, I appreciate it. I can't get it. Oh my God, I'd love to see you. A short hair can't cut it. Maybe I'll borrow one of your wigs. Oh, yeah. You're more than welcome to the cleaner does. So everyone else might as well. Might as well join in. You know what I mean? As I was moving out of the house, they were boxing on my stuff up and then. But they hadn't labeled it. And then the removal guys were like, quickly opening up, like the flaps of the boxes to just check what they were so we could write it down. And one of them, it was like a box of wigs, but he just stuck his hand in to pull it out and he went, it was it was like an animal or something. Yeah. I was like, all right, just just my wigs, just my box of tricks that would make anyone jump. Guys, we wanted a few of your gin stories, so we asked you to send them in, and we picked out a couple of our favorites, haven't we, friends? Absolutely.
Wallace Day 00:22:07 There has been some good ones. You guys. Yeah. You guys, you guys have had some fun with gin over the years. so anyway, so we're going to tell two of our favorite stories. One of our listeners was going to break up with her boyfriend. Do you remember? Yeah. On a night out. And, Well, she wasn't going to break up. No, she told her best friend. Yeah. That they were done and that she wanted to break up with him at some point. Anyway. So they go out, they start drinking, and he's there, and their other friends are there, and they start playing a drinking game. And one of the questions of the drinking game is, if you want to marry your current partner, take a sip of your drink. Anyway, so her partner starts sipping his drink, but she's just like, completely just not thinking about it and doesn't drink. And he just turns to her drinking. He's like. And she's like. And then the best friend is trying to give her the eye is like, is that girl drink? Why? Needless to say, it didn't go down too well.
Wallace Day 00:23:16 And they broke up that night. Yeah, he. He just literally couldn't understand why she wouldn't want a drink. Should you be honest in those moments, even if it's a drinking game? I feel like it made me really have to lie about it. You know, you're just. The inevitable is going to happen. You're gonna do it at some point. And to be fair, doing it with a little drink in your system, it's probably a lot easier than doing it. So anyway. Yeah. Do you have a drink when you're taking care of your nephews? What for? Courage. Well, no. Just because I've been, like, taking care of my kids at times, and I'm like, oh, you know what? I just have a cheeky, cheeky gin and tonic. Would you put it in your Stanley Cup like a proper like mum? No, I don't hide it. Like I'll have it if, I mean, like, if I'm taking them out for lunch or whatever, I'd be like, you know what? I'll get like a juice, Auntie juice? Exactly.
Wallace Day 00:24:05 It makes the afternoon even more fun. Yeah. No, no, I don't think I actually. Well, I've had a drink when I've been around them. Of course. Like they're with me and my sister a lot. We could have a little drink at dinner or lunch or just because. Yeah, you know, the sun came out. Drink 11. Excuse. Yeah. What's one? It's fine. Another one of our listeners, which actually made me really laugh, was that they would always have a, like, Gin Fridays in the office and they would, like, secretly start drinking at lunchtime. Oh. Ooh. I mean, it's Friday. Oh. Been there. It's been a tough week. I know how these offices work. I don't know how these offices work. I've never worked in an office, but I assume it's bad. I assume it's tough. And so they would send out, like a group email of, like, whatever pub they were going to go to at lunchtime so that everyone could go to the same pub and like, meet up at lunch.
Wallace Day 00:25:00 I love that. And they actually accidentally included the HR team. Oh, oh. And it was hard. Like a big company. Oh, but then the HR team turned up and actually started drinking with them. I got it so it would turn out well for everybody. Wait, that's actually. So I got Gin Fridays for everyone. Oh, I love that. Oh well, I mean, the beginning of that story reminds me of a time where I had a drink at lunch during a day of press interviews. Oh, and the afternoon was a live radio interviews. And, you know, we've been doing the show long enough. I feel pretty comfortable with the mic and and all that. So, you know, I had a cheeky media train. She's really a trained. Well, apparently not in this moment because all I had was a cheeky gin and tonic and suddenly I got the haircut, didn't I? Yeah, but straight away they're like, all right, ready? We're on air and go.
Wallace Day 00:25:59 And I've got hiccups on air and like, everyone's trying to make me jump. Like just before everyone was trying to scare the hiccups out of me. Everyone was telling me to lie on my back and forth, like swallowing all the stuff. I couldn't get rid of it. So I was like, literally. And I going, yeah. Oh no, no. Yeah, this ain't wrong with this girl. I know that's yeah. That's why that was a bad time to have hiccups. Yeah. Yeah they did go eventually. But honestly. So can you blame the drink for that though. Could be anything I found. I sounded drunk and I was like, oh, I only had one drink. So anyway, hiccups are the bane of my life. I'm someone who gets hiccups after literally a sip. Really? Yeah. I can have hiccups, like one sip, and I hate it. Apparently, if you announce to the room. Do you have hiccups? It goes. That's another one.
Wallace Day 00:26:49 Oh, so you've got the jump scares. You've got announcing that you've got it, like breathing techniques? Yeah. And like drinking techniques as well. I don't even know where they come from. They're the weirdest things. Why does that. What do you do that. Yeah. Why do we get hiccups? Yeah. Hey, ChatGPT. Why do we wake up? She need to know. Yeah, actually, I knew that. All right, we're gonna finish this out. Guys. We're telling you why we hook up. Go on, friend, get it out. I'm gonna. I'm gonna have a little drink. You take a swig whilst I do the research. You get hiccups when your diaphragm, the muscle under your lungs that helps you breathe. Suddenly spasms or contracts involuntarily. When that happens, you suck in air. Suddenly your vocal chords snapshot, making that classic hick sound. Oh, common cause. Is eating or drinking too fast. Oh, what are you looking at me for? She's blaming the drink, but she's actually just drinking too quick.
Wallace Day 00:27:45 Swallowing air temperature shock. Suddenly. Excitement or stress? Oh, and alcohol, to be fair.
