on Rangers Live, coming at you after a
6-1 Texas Rangers loss to the Milwaukee
Brewers.
A little bit of the same if we're
thinking about the last week or so of
baseball for Texas.
The Rangers only amassed, what, two hits tonight?
Two hits?
Is that it?
Depressing.
Depressing night of offense.
I mean, this is a team that we
knew coming into the year was not going
to be any kind of offensive juggernaut.
I mean, this is pathetic.
This is pathetic, man.
I really do not know what I can
take away positively from tonight's offense.
I mean, the pitching, little bit of a
different story, right?
Little bit of a different story with the
pitching.
I have no clue what you take away
offensively.
12 strikeouts tonight?
Foscue with the single?
Danny Jansen with the home run?
I guess the Danny Jansen home run?
I'm at a loss with this offense, man.
I understand that coming into this game, Henderson
was hot.
Let's not pretend Henderson is a scrub.
These aren't, and no disrespect intended, but these
aren't the angel starting pitchers that have less
than 10 starts in the big leagues.
I mean, Henderson, 9-2 this year.
Clearly, he plays behind a pretty good team.
Look, in his career, he is 11-2
overall.
He's pitched 100 innings in the bigs, and
he has a .87 career whip.
This dude's pretty good.
I'm definitely not going to give the Rangers
a free pass tonight, not by any stretch,
but I will say if we're being totally
fair, you do look at Logan Henderson and
you say to yourself, we ran into a
good one tonight, but you also say to
yourself, this is just about the same as
what we always get.
This isn't a hot offense that just happened
to get shut down by Logan Henderson.
This is a cold offense that stays cold
against good pitch.
And I've always made this point.
I mean, you guys know this.
I've always made the point.
You have to beat good pitching in October.
You have to beat good pitching in the
playoffs.
There's no way around it.
You have to figure out a way to
break through against the top arms in baseball.
At the beginning of the year when we
were facing Christopher Sanchez and Chris Sale and
a number of really elite starting pitchers, you
would get a lot of the cope after
the game.
Come on, it's Sale.
Dude, come on, it's Sanchez.
It's like, yeah, man, but you got to
break through against these guys eventually, or at
least that quality, that type of pedigree.
I understand if we want to get super
technical.
Yes, those guys are in the NL, Sale
for the Braves, Sanchez for the Phillies.
It's still the point.
The sentiment remains.
You can't just brush these off as a
well, it's their ace, so it's okay that
we lost today.
That's the kind of crazy that I've called
out all year long.
So can we acknowledge Logan Henderson is a
very good pitcher?
Yes, we can.
Can we also acknowledge that the Rangers have
pretty consistently failed against above average pitching?
Yes, we also can.
I did a post.
I forget if it was a real or
a post, but the Rangers numbers against the
top pitchers in the game are pretty abysmal,
and it's not just like, well, yeah, bro,
but everybody's going to have those numbers.
It's pretty abysmal what the Rangers have done
against some of the top arms in the
game.
It's even worse when you're looking at some
of the not top arms in the game
that have managed to shut down this Rangers
offense as well.
It's just sad.
I know they're missing Josh Young.
I understand they're missing JJ.
Man, this team is not a JJ away
from being some kind of competent elite offense.
They're just not right now.
They're not.
And that is the cold, hard truth, the
cold, hard reality where we're at right now
with Texas Rangers baseball in 2026.
Now, I know a lot of the comments,
the posts going around social media, season over,
just throw in the towel.
And I'm not mad at anybody.
You guys know this, man.
I don't get pissed off or in my
feelings about anyone that's ready to call it
in at this moment.
This is a depressing, deflating loss.
If you're a diehard, you're emotional after games
like this.
I know I am.
I don't I don't love a game where
you watch two hits for all nine innings.
Trust me, it's much more.
I've always said this.
It's so much more enjoyable when I actually
get to talk about wins.
I know that there are some people out
there.
Bando, I'm glad, by the way, I saw
your comment, man.
Bando, I saw I saw what you said,
like appreciating the positivity.
I look, this really is my heart.
Like, I do try and see as much
positivity as I can.
I know some people feel the exact opposite
about me and about the channel.
Unfortunately, when you're a losing baseball team like
the Rangers are right now, they they lost
more games than they won.
Right.
They're a losing baseball team by that definition.
When you're a losing baseball team, there's typically
more bad stuff to talk about than good.
I mean, there there are sadly less positives
when the team loses more games than they
win.
I feel like I shouldn't have to say
that out loud, but here we are.
Here we are.
And so I don't fault anybody who's venting
it, who's letting it out tonight, letting it
rip tonight.
I've always said, man, you got to let
people you've got to let the diehards that
care about this team.
Hey, you've got to let them vent it.
It's frustrating.
You guys know where I stand.
This team is not trustable.
They're not trustworthy.
You cannot trust this squad.
You don't know what you're getting any given
day.
But are they eliminated?
Is there no chance?
No, there's a clear chance that the Rangers
can still make the playoffs.
I'm not sitting here with any illusions that
Texas is going to go on some kind
of epic World Series run that would surprise
me.
I'm going to call it out like it
is right now.
If you still have a ton of faith
that Texas is going to be hoisting the
trophy in early November, you are a better
man or woman than I.
But I think at this point, mathematically still
in it, in a mediocre to subpar American
League and American League West, there's still a
shot.
But but I don't trust this team.
I do not trust them to consistently win
ballgames.
I don't trust them to give me a
consistent brand of baseball night in and night
out.
We're not talking about winning every game.
We're talking about just just playing consistent ball,
man.
I mean, I know I've submitted to you
guys the most consistent thing that this team
does.
Is lose in a multitude of different ways
and win in a multitude of different ways,
you never know what you're getting with this
team.
And going back to that comment just from
a moment ago, it's more losing in a
multitude of ways than winning in a multitude
of ways.
This team will lose 13 to one, they
will lose a tight to one ballgame.
Today, I would say you're kind of getting
close to blowout territory six to one.
I mean, I know that's not a crazy
deficit, but nevertheless, five plus runs.
Not a super competitive ballgame at the end
of nine, although you did have some chances.
Danny Jansen had an opportunity to tie the
game for one runners on first and second
didn't work out.
It's a frustrating team because you just never
know what you're going to get on a
given night.
Never know what you're going to get.
Skip Schumaker, the conversation I know going around
a little bit.

I think there are some things you point
to in this ballgame.
Skip going out there and leaving Bradford out
there doesn't work out for him.
I posted during the game, I like the
move in that at some point, somebody's got
to step up and be a dog on
this team, man.
You get mad at Skip when he pulls
guys too early and maybe you want to
argue and go back and forth the context
of Bradford and how many pitches he was
at and what he was looking like in
that sixth frame.
I actually like the move to leave Bradford
in.
I'm not going to play Monday morning quarterback.
If it works out, everybody's saying what an
awesome move it is, I actually like the
move.
It would have been a really amazing moment
for Cody had he got that third out.
I don't trust that Tyler Alexander comes in
and doesn't give up the run anyways.
I know he came in and got to
wrang out no clue what he would have
done coming in against the nine hole.
You can't sit here and tell me it's
a foregone conclusion, 100% certainty that Alexander,
if he comes in for Cody Bradford against
the nine hole hitter, who would go on
to give the Brewers a 3-1 lead,
right?
You just can't tell me that it would
have been foolproof one way or the other.
I think leaving Cody in gave Cody an
opportunity to show some grit, show some metal,
and unfortunately he didn't get the job done.
Didn't get it done.
And here we are.
The thing that I need to make sure
I say out loud though is when you
have just two hits, when you score one
run, the Skip moves matter a little bit
less in my humble opinion.
They just matter less and less.
You've got an offense generating two hits.
Yeah, you guys know I'm always down to
nitpick something.

Man, I definitely stopped worrying so much about
managerial decisions when the offense does something like
this.

You guys know this, but it's harder for
me to get passionate about a skip argument
tonight when the offense is going to hit.
It just is.
We keep on rolling, man.
We are going to go through as much
as we can.

Texas, by the way, if you're just joining
us, loses game one of three to Milwaukee.
Pretty brutal contrast, honestly, right?
Brewers piled up 14 hits before they scored
their sixth run.
Texas had two total hits tonight.
Logan Henderson was incredible.
Seven innings of one hit ball, one run
ball, no walks, throwing a lot of strikes,
seven strikeouts.
By the way, Houston already won tonight.
This score, the final, makes the Rangers pretty
much at a three-game deficit.
You've got a two-game deficit in the
standings, but with the tiebreaker secured by Houston,
you've essentially got to clear them by a
game, right?
You are going to have a three-game
deficit after tonight.
It just doesn't make this result any cheaper,
man.
It is an expensive loss when you take
an L like this, and Houston goes ahead
and gains a game on you too.

And then you totally soil the bed for
three straight games.
And that's where we're at.
That is where we're at.
And that's been the Rangers in 2026, hasn't

That's been Texas.
Big emotional win.
Walk-off win.
Extra innings win.
Blowout win.
Offense looks amazing.
And then next game, totally flat.
Nobody can get a hit.
And the pitching is falling apart and you
lose miserably.
That is where we're at with this team.
Nothing, nothing really is consistent or makes sense
with this ballclub.
You think, hey man, great win.
You have this comeback.
You have an extra innings walk-off and
you're just feeling like the club is going
to and they just never do.
They don't.
They don't latch on to the big moments.
They let them pass them by and they
come out the next game looking like a
totally different team.

it rip a little more, but we try
to keep the show PG as much as
possible.
I think we all know what really needs
to be said.

I think there's probably a couple.
I mean, Walcott, I feel like you probably
keep Walcott around at this point.
I mean, maybe if somebody wows you, wants
to do some kind of massive overpay, like,
all right, but I think he'll be around.
I don't think he's going to be traded.
You know, could you trade DeGrom?
Could you trade Evo?
Could you trade Corey Seager?
It's going to get a little harder with
Corey Seager, right?
Because his 10-5 kicks in.
He's been with the Rangers five years and
he has 10 years of service time.
So you automatically activate the NTC right there.
I think there are going to be some
trades in the offseason.
I don't think that the Rangers are going
to stand pat with this club.
Now, look, I've been wrong before.
I've been wrong before when it comes to
the roster construction of the Texas Rangers.
See why?
Look, he has made some interesting, I'm putting
this nicely, interesting moves over the last two
or three seasons.
I just feel at this point, you really
have no clue what Texas is actually going
to do.
I think we all have a pretty good
idea of what they should do.
They need some kind of soft reset.
I don't know if it needs to be
a hard reset, like you just sell off
everybody.
I think you have to be mindful of
the value that you can potentially get for
some of these guys.

Hey, it's definitely, I think, all players potentially
minus some of the up-and-comers.
I don't think they're going to trade Langford.
I don't think they're going to trade Walcott,
but I think veteran players, if you consider
Langford a veteran or Carter a veteran, I
don't know.
It's hard for me to think about them
that way, even though technically, yeah, they are,
but I probably think about trading the older
veteran players and the guys that are in
the mid-20s to early-20s I'm hanging
on to.
I think Josh Young is on the trade
block.
I think you could potentially see if you
can get anything for Ran and Nemo.
I do think you trade as many of
the older veteran players as you can.
I do think you try and go a
little bit younger offensively.
That, to me, is what I would do.
I will miss some of the guys that
I have grown to appreciate and love cheering
for, but if I'm just thinking baseball business
brain here, not at all worried about the
sentiment or who I like or who I'm
a fan of, I would pretty much be
willing to trade every veteran offensive player, especially
the ones that are 30 plus or even
in their late 20s.
Like Josh Young is going to be, I
think, 29 going into the 2027 season.
I would have Josh Young on the trade
block.
I think there's a team out there that's
already built to win that could really use
a player like Josh Young, DHN.
The Rangers need to get more versatile.
They need to get more athletic.
They need to get a little younger.
Right now, they've got a lot of platoon
slash one-dimensional players.
We've talked about this.
I feel like ad nauseum, but we'll keep
saying it for the people in the back.
We need to get more athletic.
We need to get younger.
We need to get more versatile.
We can't keep playing all of these one
-trick ponies.
Guys that can only hit lefties, can only
hit righties, can only play one position, aren't
very good at playing that one position, but
their bat is better than anything else we've
got, so got to keep them in the
lineup.
That, to me, is kind of where we're
at.
That being said, hope this team goes on
some kind of crazy run over the next
month.
Anything can happen.
We know this.
There's crazy things that have happened in this
game.
Look, you guys will hear me keep it
real.
This isn't good.
This isn't good.
There's no way to spin this positively.
The only thing you really have to hold
on to is that the Rangers are not
that far out of a playoff spot right
now mathematically, but that's totally just going in
blind, not having even considered how the team
actually plays on a night-to-night basis.
You bury your head in the sand, or
in this case, you bury your head in
the standings, and you feel a little bit
better about yourself and your fandom of the
Texas Rangers, but when you actually consider the
games that you've had to endure this year,
like I said, I'm not giving up on
this team, but I don't trust this team.
Maybe that is a weird juxtaposition, an oxymoron.
I have no clue what you want to
call it, but I just know from my
years watching this game, and some of y
'all have watched baseball much longer than I
have, but I've been around the game for
a while, and I know better.
Anything can happen.
Crazy things can happen in this game.
We've seen it all too many times, but
I don't trust the Rangers on any given
night.
I could see them totally getting blown out.
I could see them putting together a quality
game.
I could see them, you know, scoring 10
runs randomly.
Anything can happen with this team, and I
think more often than not, when you have
a team like that, it's very rare that
kind of squad ends up winning it all
at the end of the season.
The teams that win find consistent ways to
do it.
I mean, look at the Brewers, right?
They don't hit homers, but consistently, they put
pressure on defenses.
They steal bases.
They put the ball in play.
They bunt.
They do so many different things to keep
teams on their heels, and so I think
the Brewers, they're going to have to exercise
some of the October demons.
We all know the struggles that Milwaukee has
had trying to win that World Series Championship,
right?
But for the regular season, I see a
lot of consistency with this Brewers team.
It is the consistency I think Texas idealized.
I think at the beginning of spring training,
the Rangers wanted to be what the Brewers
are.
I really don't think skip came into the
preseason wanting the Rangers to be this slugfest
franchise.
I think that he wanted to see Texas
become a little bit more like the 2023
Marlins, like the 2026 Brewers.
I put out a pod last night, did
one on the off day, and it's really
alarming.
At the beginning of the season, Skip Schumaker
talked about the Rangers needing to be better
at taking the extra base, at stealing, at
putting pressure on defenses.
We've used that term a lot tonight.
It's actually wild that last year the Rangers
did everything on that list, everything that I
just listed out that Skip talked about at
the beginning of the year.
The Rangers did every one of those better
in 2025 under Bruce Bochy.
They took the extra base at a better
clip.
They took the extra base 46% of
the time last year.
That was their extra base take rate.
This year, the Rangers are at 34%
when it comes to taking the extra base,
down 12% from last year.
The Rangers had stolen over 100 bases at
this time last year.
I don't think they're anywhere close to triple
digits at this point.
They do pretty much everything worse that Skip
Schumacher and Chris Young wanted this team to
do better in 2026.
In 2025, taking the extra base, stealing, and
putting pressure on defense, done much better by
Bruce Bochy's Rangers than Skip Schumaker's.
Is some of that personnel struggles?
Sure.
What we'll throw out of bone.
But I will say for the biggest part
of Skip's hiring being squeezing every last drop
out of this roster, skip ball, winning on
the margins, it's just not something you've seen
with this team really at all this year.
It is too bad.
And it leaves you wondering, what is this
squad going to do next year?
What is this franchise going to do next
year?
We've already started talking about it.
And I do not want that to be
any kind of indication that I'm giving up
or throwing in the towel, but it's hard
not to talk about it on nights like
tonight.
That is for sure.

going to get better?
I think he's hoping just like all of
us, G-Man.
I don't think he has a ton of
confidence that the team's going to turn it
around if you got him in a quiet
moment.
I don't think there's a lot of people
that do.
I think anybody that is really putting out
there strongly that this Rangers team is going
to go on a run.
They are going to figure it out.
I mean, they are just totally talking nothing.
I mean, talking absolute nothingness, man.
There is nothing you can point to that
this Rangers team is going to go on
a crazy run.
I think there is some evidence like, hey,
they might win a series.
They might win a couple series in a
row.
But there's not some crazy underlying stat that
is yet to be found that is clearly
the reason why the Rangers are going to
figure out and why everybody should still be
hopeful.
Anyone who is getting really on that or
erring on that positive side tonight is just
being disingenuous.

This is a very bad game and this
has not been a good week of baseball.
Everything that you've seen this week is an
indication of why you just feel like this
club does not quite have what it takes
to go on a deep run into October.
Now, again, I think what you hope for
is the consistency.
And let me be clear on this, the
consistency that this team just makes no sense
from night to night.
And so tomorrow they could come out and
look incredible.

Cal Q, Cal freaking Quantrill on the bump
tomorrow.
You've got a lefty throwing.
So, you know, you've got some guys in
the Rangers lineup that do like facing the
lefties.
Jake Burger, much better against the lefties.
You've got some other guys that are going
to be in the lineup as well that
are definite spark plugs.
Cody Freeman.
There's a number of different guys that I
do like getting to be inserted into that
lefty lineup.
But Cal Quantrill, I think has got to
be the biggest reason you feel good about
the Rangers being competitive tomorrow.
I think that Cal is going to go
out there and give you a five or
six and probably one to two earned runs
at the most, maybe even a zero.
I'm not proclaiming victory tomorrow by any means,
but I do think you got to feel
like the Rangers have a pretty strong opportunity
to win a ball game with Cal on
the mound.
Things I never thought I would be saying
in 2026, by the way, the one game
that Cal Quantrill is pitching, I feel like
I'm in some alternate universe right now.
Like the one game where Cal's pitching this
series against the best team in baseball.
We're saying out loud that this is the
game right here, the Cal Q game, baby.
Isn't baseball great sometimes, man?
I mean, look, you got to laugh.
I tell you guys this.
I think with this game, you had some
mourning time.
You had some grieving time as the game
started slipping away late.
I know that in the first few innings,
Danny Jansen, it's the home run that kind
of piqued my interest.
But then the Brewers start piling on late
and you can see the writing on the
wall.
The offense isn't going to find it.
And, you know, they didn't give up a
few more runs to just put the icing
on the cake.
I just think it is a crazy baseball
world we're living in where Cal Q is
the guy you feel like is going to
be the one to stop the skid, man,
to stop the losing streak.
Fascinating times.
Fascinating times, man.
All right, what do we got?
What else?
My thing is, if Carter's in the lineup,
just freaking bunt against a lefty, you can't
hit a single off of him.
Hey, a weird play with Evan Carter.
Antonio, appreciate all the comments tonight, man.
Weird play with Carter.
Didn't think that was a legit interference call,
by the way.
Very convinced that if that ball sails over
the first baseman's head, if that ball sails
left, if it goes right, they're not going
to call interference on Evan.
The only reason they called interference was because
the ball hit him.
And I think that clearly that is going
to always get attention.
But if you're not going to call interference
when the ball goes left, right, high, you
cannot call it when it hits him in
the back.
And Evan Carter on the dirt when he
was hit, you're not automatically out if you
touch the grass at some point.
You're not.
You're not automatically out.
I thought it was a little bit different
that Skip didn't argue that a little bit
more.
That would have been the game-tying run.
Carter has a ton of speed.
I thought that was a little weird that
we didn't get more of a rebuttal from
Skip Schumaker at a pretty pivotal point of
the game.
Evan Carter gets on base there.
You steal second.
I mean, they haven't stolen Evan a lot.
The video I put out right around game
time today, I had a crazy busy day,
y'all, but got that video out right
around game time.
I just don't understand why this team doesn't
steal more.
They've got so many players that are fast.
They've got Wyatt Langford.
They've got Evan Carter.
Zeke Duran is speedy.
They've got a lot of guys that can
fly around that diamond, man, and they just
do not steal that many bases.
They don't.
They're not an aggressive team in that regard,
and I do think they need to become
one over this last stretch of games over
this last month of the season if they
are really interested in doing something special.
I think it's ridiculous that the Rangers have
only stolen, I forget what it was, like
70.
They've only attempted like 70-something steals all
year.
Their stealing percentage is actually pretty solid.
I think it's like 75% is their
stealing rate.
It is wild to me that they haven't
done more.
Yeah, I mean, Sugi, what's good?
I know, I think it's the first time
I've highlighted a comment of yours, man.
Sorry for passing you up, but this is
a great one.
Analytics have shown that stealing bases is no
longer worth it.
I feel like it's a valid question to
ask.
Are analytics playing into the Rangers not being
more aggressive on the base pass?
It could be a legitimate thing.
I haven't heard Skip or anybody really talk
about this, but you have to ask the
question.
I do wish that the Beats would ask,
go back to Skip before the season started
in Surprise.
There was so much talk about Skip Ball.
I mean, that's not his phrase.
That's my phrase.
Skip Ball, stealing bases, putting pressure on defenses,
playing small ball, right?
First to third.
There was so much talk like that when
Skip was getting hired and before the spring
training season even began.
And you've kind of seen the team take
a pretty massive step back, even from 2025
in that department.
It is definitely something that I think needs
to be asked.
I would love one of the Beats to
pick up the question and present it.
And maybe now's not the time, but I
would kind of tend to disagree.
I think that right now is a very
relevant time.
The offense isn't getting the big hit.
Can you be doing more to manufacture runs?
Gee, man, Duran's pretty fast.
I did look at the advanced stats the
other night on all of our runners.
I think Duran definitely could be in that
mix.
He's not as fast as Carter or Langford,
but I would say he's in 1B territory.
If Langford and Carter are the 1As, I
think Duran is a 1B.
He's pretty quick out there.
But beyond that, I agree.
They don't have a ton of guys that
you feel great about stealing a bag.
It's another reason why I want to see
this team get a little bit younger, get
a little bit more athletic, get a little
more versatile out there.

Antonio, it's a great point.
When you have a 75% steal rate,
but you're attempting less than a couple stolen

That's the guy the Rangers got in the

I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of
Adam Macko.
Didn't really feel like that was a huge
get or anything like that.
Look, prove me wrong.
But when they traded Josh Smith for Macko,
like a part of me understands like you
didn't necessarily have a role for Josh Smith
any longer.
And so you might as well see if
you can get something, some kind of lottery
ticket for him.
And that's kind of what I see Adam
Macko as a lottery ticket.
He might pop.
He very well might fall flat on his
face.
You never know.
We'll see what happens.
But at this point, I see the Rangers
when rosters expand to 28 calling up Osuna,
but then probably calling up one of the
relief pitchers that's down there.
I think that would probably be the move.
We'll see.
It'll happen in a couple of days, right?
September 1st, I believe, are the call-ups.
So they were, yeah, the Brewers coming from
J-Rock here on TikTok.
They were doing a lot, doing a lot
of bunting tonight, really frustrating the Rangers.
That's what happens though.
When you can bunt the ball well, you
make the defense really frustrated really quickly.
Cody Bradford today was not great.
He didn't have any strikeouts.
This is a big reason why in my
mind, I think Cody is probably best served
as a change of pace guy in the
bullpen.
I really do appreciate the starts that Cody
gave us.
I'm not trying to be prisoner of the
moment here and overreact, but Cody is a
guy that throws a lot of strikes and
a team like the Brewers that really do
a nice job putting the ball in play
frequently.
This is a guy that is going to
have a little bit of a tough time
against a team like that.
Brewers love going the other way.
They walk.
They do not let you just throw a
bunch of bad pitches and bail you out.
Cody, I mean, we talked about this.
He finally went up against a good team.
You had him pitch against the Giants, then
the A's, then the Angels.
The Angels, I think, actually worked like twice,
right?
He pitched against a lot of bad teams
and you finally saw him against a good
team.
Granted, maybe the Brewers aren't the most fairest
of teams to evaluate him on, but I
always felt like this was going to be
the true litmus test for Cody.
He's been back about a month now.
I don't think it's totally unfair to add
this, at least to your evaluation of him.
I don't think this is any kind of
throwaway start.
I think you're seeing what happens when Cody
and a guy with his repertoire goes up
against a team that is pretty frequently on
the attack.
For a guy like Cody that's never going
to be a big swing and miss guy,
the recipe was not great.
It was not great.
I do think Cody Bradford is going to
be the long relief guy or he is
going to be a guy that you will
maybe put in for an inning or two
as a bit of a change of pace
arm.
Maybe you have a hard-throwing righty that's
out there and then you want to go
to Bradford, a little bit of a soft
-throwing lefty, right, upper 80s fastball, can hit
90 here and there, has a decent change
up.
I think that probably is the play.
But look, Jack Leiter, he's going to be
shut down.
I think Jack, I don't know if you
heard the news, but I'm assuming suffered some
kind of setback and so he was going
to be pitching out of the bullpen.
It looks like he is going to be
stopping throwing here in the next, well, in
the immediate future.

I'm going to see if I can get

but I will definitely see if I can

So he's dealing with the ankle, right?

So Jack Leiter, not going to most likely
be a big factor down the stretch here,
at least in the regular season.
Could you get him back for the post
-season and have him play in the bullpen,
play out in the bullpen?
Yeah, I think so.
But not really the news you wanted to

I think you were hoping Jack could come
back and be a nice arm for the
Rangers to be a reinforcement for the starters.

I definitely do agree on the comment that
CY not buying 100% the right thing

I don't think this team is, you know,
one or two players away.
Now that I kind of see the full
picture here on August 28th, I don't think
that they are one or two players away.

Go out and get like a blockbuster trade
deal done or just, you know, sell, sell,
sell.
Don't stay in the middle.
I still say I would have liked for
the Rangers to have maybe done a little
bit more selling.

a missed opportunity that they really didn't sell

tonight, uh, I just keep thinking about the
game he pitched and it is wild how
you, you've got these players on other teams,
up and comers, guys that are pretty green.
Henderson doesn't have that many starts in the
big leagues and he's looking incredible.
And I think Henderson reminds you of what
you wish the Rangers did better, which is
develop really good starting pitching.
I think you can kind of gas up
Jack Leiter.
You can gas up Kumar rocker a little
bit, but at the end of the day,
both of them have not been consistent.
I think when you watch Logan Henderson dominate
tonight, it really does put into perspective the
fact that the Rangers have struggled to really
create an ace like the brewers were able
to with Henderson.
I think this guy is an ace.
The ERA is sitting at two 48 right
now.
He's at a two 30 career ERA.
This guy is legit.
101 innings pitched 119 career strikeouts.
Uh, Brandon, you know, I would say this,
we're talking about elite and I just don't
think Cody Bradford, you can put him in
the same vein.
Uh, look, Cody to me is, is a
good solid pitcher.
He's not on Logan Henderson's level, right?
He's not on this level.
So, I mean, again, I know this is
hard because we, we love certain guys love
cheering for Cody Bradford, love, love cheering for
Jack Leiter.
Uh, Kumar rocker definitely want to see him
do well.
I want to see all these guys do
well, but I don't think there's any denying
you have no clue what you're going to
get from some of these guys on a
night to night basis.
Cody Bradford's a nice arm.
He's he is not on Logan Henderson's level
right now.
We're talking about developing arms that are ace
level arms.
I don't think Cody Bradford, maybe we're going
to have to agree to disagree.
I don't think Cody Bradford is ever going
to be an ace level arm.

I see him as a very solid number
three, number four starter.
Logan Henderson looks like he could be the
top of rotation guy on a number of
different teams.
I mean, he probably is with the brewers
right now, fourth round pick, uh, out of
a Texas, a Texas guy.

Look at that and drafted by the brewers.

dominant aces.

the Ms is like, you know, always constantly
on the homepage every time he pitches.
Like, I think there's an alternate universe where
Jack Leiter and Kumar rocker Vandy boys are
always getting hyped up on MLB.com, but
their development with the Rangers has been a
journey to say the least to, to keep
it nice.
It's been a journey and Logan Henderson.
I think watching him pitch tonight, it does
remind you of what the Rangers have failed
to do with their own young starting pitching.
And we're not talking about developing, you know,
a, a solid, you know, back end or
the rotation guy.
We're talking about developing aces.
We're talking about developing number one, number two,
starting pitchers.
It's something that has alluded Texas.
Uh, look, we talked about on the pod
last night or this morning, depending on, uh,
how you want to think about it.
We talked about the margin test.
Milwaukee just wins games on the margins, man.
They, they bunt, they steal, they take the
extra base.
Uh, Bradford didn't help things with that throwing
error, right?
You had things set up pretty much station
to station from Milwaukee in that first inning.
Milwaukee really forced Texas to execute from batter
number one and Texas pretty immediately cracked starting
with the Cody Bradford throwing here.
Not an easy play by the way for
Cody, but that's what happens when you put
pressure on a defense.
I still say we might get caught up
a little bit in the small ball component
of the brewers, but they accumulated 14 hits
tonight.
I know a lot of us are going
to gravitate towards man, the buns, they, they
did the back to back bun thing.
And you know, they were, they were doing
that all night moving guys, you know, from
first to second, second to third, the, the
brewers had 14 hits tonight, man.
Like I think the, the lazy take is
small ball.
I mean, these guys can hit the ball
all over the yard.
They don't hit it out of the park
very much.
The brewers, I don't know if you caught
this stat that I threw out on the
pod, but the brewers have hit the least
homers in major league baseball.
I I'm not exaggerating.
The brewers have hit the least amount of
home runs in major league baseball.
Yet there's only four teams.
As of this morning, there were only four
teams in the game that had scored more
runs than Milwaukee.
That was a mind blower for me because
I've been getting told all season long that
players like Alejandro Osuna are worthless because they
can't slug.

He can't slug bro.
It's not, it's not even worth giving him
a lineup spot, bro.
All he does is hit singles where we
need somebody with pop.

The brewers are case study numero uno, man.
They are the number one example.
You don't have to hit home runs to

You don't get on base, force the other
team to make plays.
They just need guys that can produce and
get on.
And then you never know what can happen
from there.
You get way too enamored sometimes with the

That's all I care to know.

The Rangers need to get that through their
heads.
They've got a number of players that are
on the roster in the lineup because they
got pop.
You got Jake Burger.
You got Joc Pederson.
Wyatt Langford can definitely do a number of
other things, but he's got some pop.
You got a lot of guys that can
hit the homer and look, they're not doing
it a ton this year, but you got
some guys that are in the lineup because
they can hit the ball out of the
ballpark.
What they can't do and what they haven't
done consistently enough this year is just get
on base, man.
Arraez would have been nice.
We talked about him in the off season.
We talked about him at the trade deadline.
Arraez would have been nice.
We could use a guy like Arraez.
In a perfect world where the Rangers would
have bought either in the off season or
at the deadline, I would have loved for
them to have gone out and got a
rise, gone out and got a catcher, Rutschman,
Goodman, one of the the big names that
was available.
I think that you're definitely at a spot
though where you've got a lot of players
on the Rangers that you really have to
figure out and determine what's the future.
Josh Young, what's the future?
Is this guy really a dude you want
around for five or six more years?
Do we think Josh Young is going to
age gracefully?
You think about other players.
Evan Carter, that's going to be a tough
decision.
Do you really think Evan Carter is the
long-term answer at center field?
There's going to be a lot of tough
decisions to make.
I think the Rangers have to let go
a little bit of 2023 first and foremost.
I think they have to look at what's
happened since then.
And then I think you also have to
stop making all of your decisions based on
the hope that a player turns into something
big, the hope that a player rebounds from
a really ugly previous season.
You have to start operating in the here
and now, and that I think is where
the Rangers need to recalibrate.
There's a lot of guys on the roster
that they're not playing well, but they've got
too much potential to give up on.
How often do we hear that?
It's not going great, but they've got too
much potential.
We can't dump them.
We can't DFA.
We can't trade them.
We can't send them down to the minor
leagues.
They've got too much potential.
Where's that gotten?
Outside looking in right now.
Doesn't mean that the season is over, but
outside looking in right now.

Look, Bradford tonight.
I already talked a little bit about Cody.
It wasn't his best night at all.
The contact, the lack of strikeouts tonight is
what really got him not giving up on
Cody.
Definitely rooting for Cody.
I think his story is incredible.
You know, there's a world where I think
had he pitched a little bit longer this
year, he would have been a lot more
in the running for comeback player of the
year.
He just doesn't have enough time, but had
he come back in June and pitched well,
I think it would have been fun to
watch him in that race.
Cody is a great comeback story, no doubt.
And he just happened to run into the
best team in baseball that really is disciplined
up at the plate.
Cody happens to be a strike thrower.
The Brewers happen to love getting strikes to
put into play.
It wasn't a great recipe and the Rangers
ultimately don't get enough offense for it to
even really matter.
You're just showing us they lose six to
one tonight to the Brewers.

We've been hard on Danny.
Danny double play as I like to call
him from time to time.
Danny double play was the only answer tonight.
Lone run against Logan Henderson, fifth homer of
the year.
Cool for him being back in Wisconsin.

So there's some teammates over there on the
other side, little added juice for him.

things watching the game tonight.
Houston, they went tonight, they go up a
couple of games.

It's very unfortunate to have to always be
doing this scoreboard watching thing.
You know, if the Rangers were just winning
games consistently, you would care a little less.
I mean, you'd still be curious, but you'd
care a little less.
They're winning.

So we look out for Jackson Chourio Contreras,

Frelick is one for three Hamilton over to
Ortiz.
The shortstop over for Sanchez, one for six.
Turang one for seven Vaughn five for 11
Yelich one for six.
So you basically got Contreras and Chourio as
the guys that you're really looking out for
Vaughn, the first baseman a little bit as
well.
I do feel like to an extent Cal
is on a little bit of a different
plane right now than what he was in
years past.
So I'm not sure how much stock you
put into these matchups.
I think Cal's on a roll right now.
He's feeling it.
I'll knock on wood for him, but I
feel he gives the Rangers a solid chance
to win tomorrow.

It's hard to feel like those stats in
those runs were super meaningful considering the context
of the game.
