Speaker 0 (0s): This is a podfire production.

Speaker 2 (13s): It's the highest of standards on the peak. We have land and it's not silver. It's not food. You want the best take advantage, go platinum. You know, you wanna

Speaker 1 (21s): Do it platinum.

Speaker 2 (23s): You know, you wanna do it. Go platinum, platinum, platinum, platinum, platinum,

Speaker 0 (28s): Platinum. So good guys. Bre Mac Callum CEO of platinum standard grading here today, back from the nationals back from big trip around the us. I've left Christopher over there. He's actually now gone to Birmingham for the Commonwealth games. We'll talk about a bit more in a minute work trip, work trip to my ride here. We have Pugz. Our chief cardiologist is in the house and has been holding the seat in the factory down while we're away. And today we've got a very special guest on the end over here. His name is Robert or Rob or big Rob uncle Bob, uncle Bob

Speaker 2 (1m 3s): Bob's uncle.

Speaker 0 (1m 4s): Bob's your uncle, all of the above. Mary's your, and Rob's here from local card shop and which is a thriving new business. That's based in brewer, Vegas in Queensland. And we're gonna talk a bit more about that and a cards. How special is he? He's very special, pretty special, and GC card sharks on and crucial cards is on welcome guys. How are we?

Speaker 2 (1m 29s): Absolutely

Speaker 0 (1m 29s): Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Speaker 2 (1m 31s): Yeah. Good

Speaker 0 (1m 31s): To be back. Live in the dream, live in the dream. Good to see you back too. Thank you very much. All the positivity in the house is really, really nice. Yeah. Well, when Chris is here is a grumpy bastard and we get negativity. So now he's a grumpy bastard in the UK. How, how angry will he be? Hopefully he doesn't see this. He will. Oh dear. How angry will he be though? Because it's, it's very hot over there. I gotta tell you, I gotta tell you a story. Let me tell you a little story. Right? So we are in, we were, obviously we went to Vegas, we went to Utah, we went to New York city, Atlantic city, back to New York city. I then jumped on a, Chris, jumped on a plane to go to the UK.

And we'd been, we travel business class everywhere. We went except for Chris to the UK. And so Chris had gone on a six hour flight in economy. I believe he was in the middle seat. So it's even funnier. He, he doesn't do economy. Does he? Oh, he just doesn't do planes. He hates it. And so to, to add to the story, we're flying into New York city and the guy comes over on the, the thing and he goes, excuse me, ladies and gentlemen obviously had an American accent. He goes, excuse me, ladies and gentlemen, I'd just have to let you know that we're gonna have to make a diversion. He said, there's a big storm coming over New York city.

And Chris is sitting two rows behind me. Right? And he goes the big storm coming over down. And we're about to run outta fuel. No shit. The fucking, the airport, dude, the isn't that's him. Isn't that the premise of a die hard movie. Oh mate. And he goes, we're just about to run outta fuel. So what we're thinking, thinking, not doing what we're thinking is we're gonna pull into Philadelphia and we'll just land on a tar. They'll give us some fuel and then we're good to go. Everyone on the plane just goes, they'd

Speaker 3 (3m 3s): Panic.

Speaker 0 (3m 4s): What the fuck he just did. He just say, we're running outta fuel. He then comes back on and goes, oh, it looks like the, the storm event's gonna take about an hour. We don't have an hour's worth of fuel. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna, so he's got back, obviously he's realized what he's just said. So we land in Philly. We stayed in the plane and stayed in the plane and just sat there and they, the lady gets on and goes. So we're currently in Philadelphia. If anyone wants to get off, you can't get your bags knee, but you're welcome to get off the plane.

Speaker 3 (3m 36s): And what do you do when you get off?

Speaker 0 (3m 38s): We go on wherever you wanna go. Like, if you are going maybe New York down a Philly or whatever, here's an early mark. Jump off the plane. And we're all sitting. I've stood up and turned around to look at Chris. Cuz like, obviously he's not a very good fly. He freaks out a little bit and he's just sitting. Oh, you know? So we run out a few. So that was the last fly we then flew into, into Newark. And the guy that was supposed to be picking us up, we on the phone to him and he says, no, mate, you missed your, your ride. I said, what do you mean?

Because you know, I said, you plane had landed, oh, I hung around for two hours. And so therefore I'm not picking out. And it's like, maybe we landed in Philadelphia. That's why have we landed? It's

Speaker 3 (4m 19s): Been quite the effort

Speaker 0 (4m 20s): To get here. I can't do anything about it. Sorry. So we're then stuck at Newark airport. We jump into cab and it's all. So we're all good. Moving on the next flight he catches after the no fuel flight is the one to the UK in economy in a middle seat. No. So he got there just to let you know, he got there safe and sound grumpy than normal, which is,

Speaker 3 (4m 37s): Which is I did see him grumpy driving on an F1 simulator.

Speaker 0 (4m 40s): Oh, there you go. We must be happier. Now

Speaker 3 (4m 42s): You would be very happy with that. That's awesome. In six

Speaker 0 (4m 44s): Weeks, Chris is actually over there representing meteor eight in a position with the gold coast city council to have a look at the Birmingham games and have a look at some big announcements we can't make yet, but we will shortly awesome. What meteor eight's up to in regards to eSports and that sort of stuff. So in regards to he's over there and he goes to a function yesterday, he runs in suits and ties. He rocks up in shorts. A t-shirt

Speaker 3 (5m 6s): You're probably lucky he wore that. Get old,

Speaker 0 (5m 8s): Chris. I'm glad he wore that. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (5m 9s): That's did he have thongs on or did he have

Speaker 0 (5m 11s): Extra? I, no, no, I would've had shoes cause I would've matched his hat

Speaker 3 (5m 13s): Hat. That's right. Yeah, exactly. But actually the pitcher I saw he wasn't wearing a hat. So he was, that's probably his formal wearers. Take the hat off.

Speaker 0 (5m 20s): That's that's actually a good point. That's let's get formal. We'll take the hat. But anyway, that's my little story for the start of this. There's lots of these to go throughout podcast, but Rob welcome your first podcast on PSG. You've become one of our, our submission partners about a month ago now. Yep. What I really wanna know. Do you just wanna give the, the, the viewing audience who you are, what you do, what local car shop is and what the thesis

Speaker 3 (5m 46s): Is? Yeah. So local car shop is obviously a new car shop in Brisbane at woo and GABA, 175 meters from the gate to entrance, which is something that big Rob loves because it means it's only 175 meters to walk to the game after work. Nice. So, but yeah. So what we're trying to do,

Speaker 0 (6m 5s): I like the closing time on game day though.

Speaker 3 (6m 7s): Yeah. Whenever the bounce is just

Speaker 0 (6m 8s): Before the bounce, just

Speaker 3 (6m 8s): Before the I've worked it out, I need 12 minutes. If, if my old man comes to the game, it's 14 minutes. He walks a little slower. Fair. But yeah. So what we're trying to, trying to, I guess, grow there is a bit of a, the card community back again. Yeah. Yeah. Cause

Speaker 0 (6m 25s): There's nothing else in Santa Brisbane.

Speaker 3 (6m 27s): Is there? No, there's no nothing that specializes in sports cards, you know, you've got your Pokemon and all that kind of stuff, which you know, is obviously very popular. Yeah. And we, we do all that as well, but you know, we've, we've got an area there with a few tables and you know, we encourage people to come down and have a chat, talk cards, crack cards, trade cards with someone else that's there got a few big screens with some, with some sports on happening. Yeah. Sports and yeah. It's,

Speaker 0 (6m 53s): It's like robs heaven. Really?

Speaker 3 (6m 55s): I think it's like any card collector's heaven too legit know we've got every type of trading card in there from military trading cards to storm desert storm with the chewing. I'm still intact. But we do get people to sign a waiver if they tried it. No way. Why

Speaker 0 (7m 12s): Not? What would it take? You, you don't, haven't lived to try it.

Speaker 3 (7m 17s): What would it take me? Is that a dare?

Speaker 0 (7m 20s): I'm thinking it's a dare shit. What do you reckon? PS? I

Speaker 3 (7m 24s): Can go live. Do it live from the shop.

Speaker 0 (7m 27s): I'll tell you what next week

Speaker 3 (7m 29s): I'll bring you pack in a desert storm cards in. Yeah, because it's gotta be a fresh piece of chewing gum.

Speaker 0 (7m 33s): Yeah. But you are the only one that's actually we could all do it. So who dies first? Let's do it

Speaker 3 (7m 39s): Live on here. I can pop in next week. That's okay. Yeah. Can we do that?

Speaker 0 (7m 42s): That's a challenge for you.

Speaker 3 (7m 43s): So anyway we go from there we go from military guards all the way through to your, your traditional, like lots of NBA, NFL soccer is very popular at the moment

Speaker 0 (7m 54s): Made in the us. It was massive. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (7m 56s): Look very popular here as well. Tops do some amazing releases from different leagues around the world. Scottish premier league, shout out to Ian who comes in and explains all the Scottish premier league things to me. Wood's

Speaker 0 (8m 7s): League that's them the other day. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (8m 9s): There's that as well.

Speaker 0 (8m 10s): Champions league

Speaker 3 (8m 11s): Champions league. But we also a strong specialty in the Australian sports as well, Sol, which has got a new release coming out. And I think we're gonna talk later about the new AFL release as

Speaker 0 (8m 22s): Well. Well, we are gonna talk about it cuz you are that pissed off about it. That you were

Speaker 3 (8m 25s): Actually, I'm not pissed off at, at it at all. I'm just Australia post.

Speaker 0 (8m 29s): Okay. It's Australia post. We pissed

Speaker 3 (8m 30s): Off at yeah, yeah, yeah. Australia. We always

Speaker 0 (8m 32s): Yeah. A hundred percent. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (8m 34s): Two days sitting at Melbourne airport. No, no further scans. And I'm watching everyone open these brand new boxes of an amazing product. Just

Speaker 0 (8m 40s): The one oh ones are in yours.

Speaker 3 (8m 41s): I don't, I that's the thing, that's the thing that drives me is that the cards won't change it or in those boxes.

Speaker 0 (8m 46s): Exactly.

Speaker 3 (8m 47s): Take

Speaker 0 (8m 47s): A little bit point

Speaker 3 (8m 48s): Actually. Yeah. A bit longer to get to me, but that's cool. No, cuz it, it is an amazing product. Yeah. And I know you guys are,

Speaker 0 (8m 54s): I think it's the best Australian product.

Speaker 4 (8m 56s): Oh it looks amazing

Speaker 3 (8m 57s): Brilliance.

Speaker 0 (8m 58s): Yeah.

Speaker 3 (8m 59s): Brilliance and supremacy supremacy out there, but like they're marketed as the, as the high end and the highest of high end products brilliance is along, along for those who collected MBA cards, your Lux, you meet board of Lux card. That's that's what, as

Speaker 0 (9m 15s): Long as flux, cuz they're shit out.

Speaker 3 (9m 17s): No flux are right.

Speaker 0 (9m 18s): Oh, hate them. They're the yellow one.

Speaker 4 (9m 19s): They're the off color looking

Speaker 3 (9m 20s): Ones. Good deals on flux at local cards.

Speaker 0 (9m 23s): No free ads, but we just have that's fine.

Speaker 3 (9m 26s): But yeah. And supremacy is more along your, your flawless and that kind of oh,

Speaker 4 (9m 31s): Like NT and

Speaker 3 (9m 32s): All that kind of thing. Yeah. NT 130 point cards. So, but brilliance in my mind, I think brilliance is if they just nail that product,

Speaker 0 (9m 40s): It's, what's the one where they have the, I think it's color bass with the, the

Speaker 3 (9m 44s): Spectrum

Speaker 0 (9m 45s): And they do it in the us as well for, you know, like the big flash of

Speaker 4 (9m 49s): Yeah. ColorBlast

Speaker 0 (9m 50s): That's color bass. Yeah. Yeah. So factual point, Tyson Beck invented the ColorBlast card five years ago and then they stole his, they stole his design design for the NBA cards

Speaker 3 (10m 5s): And then the

Speaker 0 (10m 5s): AFL and the AFL,

Speaker 3 (10m 6s): The design.

Speaker 0 (10m 8s): But that was originally a card that was done five years ago by Tyson BA I know that. Cause I have breakfast with him.

Speaker 4 (10m 13s): Yeah.

Speaker 0 (10m 13s): We'll go into that later

Speaker 3 (10m 14s): Name, drop number,

Speaker 4 (10m 16s): Number

Speaker 0 (10m 16s): One, tickets, pick it up. So Goodday to collector Smith. Guns are G I'm gonna say darker doom, foil Fantastics and penguin cards. AU. Oh and Hitman cards. Goodday guys. Thanks for joining us. We really appreciate the, the support

Speaker 4 (10m 34s): Collector Smith is actually a new submission partner. There

Speaker 0 (10m 37s): You go.

Speaker 4 (10m 38s): Go check

Speaker 0 (10m 39s): Him out. Thanks very much

Speaker 3 (10m 40s): For that. You joined a good group.

Speaker 0 (10m 41s): Thanks. So one question I do have for you Rob you about a month ago, you became a submission partner and they're slowly coming in as people learn about it. And I, I know it's interesting people ask me, where should I drop my cards? Well, where you located, the whole idea of the collection partner network is that, that you guys can submission partner network is that you guys can submit on behalf by other people. They also get obviously the cheaper prices and all that sort of stuff. What's the best card so far that someone's dropped into a local card drop in Brisbane for a submission.

Speaker 3 (11m 12s): Well, last week we had a guy come in and dropped in a pile of Pokemon and Marvel. Yep. And look, I dunno a lot about Marvel cards, but there was two cards in there that just blew me away and it was actually an honor to hold them. One was a parallel silver surfer Marvel card. And it was a silver, silver surf surfer card, like

Speaker 0 (11m 31s): A Croy card. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11m 32s): And it just looked awesome that card. And I don't, I don't know if it's worth much money or anything like that, but yeah, just, and I know in the PSG slab, that card is gonna pop and the other one was a Marvel sketch card. 1 0 1 sketch card

Speaker 4 (11m 44s): Sketch cards though.

Speaker 3 (11m 47s): Some old mate. Oh

Speaker 4 (11m 48s): Yeah. Old mate's cool.

Speaker 3 (11m 50s): I dunno.

Speaker 0 (11m 51s): He's my favorite Marvel character.

Speaker 3 (11m 53s): It, I think it's Thor. Yeah. I think it was

Speaker 0 (11m 56s): A, he's an old mate. He's a superstar. He's like a

Speaker 3 (11m 58s): Doesn't he live down the road. He lives down

Speaker 0 (11m 59s): The not far down the road. That's that's pretty sick. So they're they're the,

Speaker 3 (12m 5s): And Brad Fiddler, rookie rookie card

Speaker 0 (12m 7s): In good Nick

Speaker 3 (12m 8s): In great Nick. Really? Yep. So if I could maybe talk to the graders later on and we should have

Speaker 0 (12m 13s): A great, I know great. He's one sat next year.

Speaker 4 (12m 15s): Great. Nick, that should be one of our like pristine or GN. Great Nick,

Speaker 0 (12m 21s): This one and he's score a six, but fuck. It's in great Nick.

Speaker 3 (12m 23s): Yeah. See, it's always about evolving. Isn't it? Exactly.

Speaker 4 (12m 27s): Yeah. Don't have to be like everybody else.

Speaker 0 (12m 29s): So welcome back PS. Hey, Hey. You've you've been off on an extreme weight loss campaign. You've been, you've been a big crooked mate. You better

Speaker 4 (12m 36s): Now for everybody. Yeah, I feel great. Yeah. Just trying to get adjusted to the whole new thing I have to do.

Speaker 0 (12m 41s): Yeah. But, but you you're up for the podcast. You yeah. You're back grading cards.

Speaker 4 (12m 46s): Yes, sir.

Speaker 0 (12m 46s): What? What's the best thing you've seen come through since being back anything exciting.

Speaker 4 (12m 53s): Oh, there's been heaps of MJ cards. Oh, has it? So there's been like, yeah. Some really good inserts about scoring magnet. There's been some scoring Kings of Patrick Ewing and O'Neill, which are always good cards. Yeah. And other Jamant auto was it Jamer yeah. Jam around

Speaker 3 (13m 14s): Autograph. Yeah. The one amazing stash showed me that. Amazing.

Speaker 4 (13m 17s): Yeah. Oh, it was Jersey numbered as well was oh wow. Amazing. Yeah. So,

Speaker 0 (13m 22s): Well, as, as you know, I've just come back from the national, if you didn't know. I and Chris went to the national, we obviously went to Vegas for the basketball at the start, but we're gonna talk about the national today. Cuz three of probably most surreal experiences ever happened to me at this place. And as everyone who knows me and doesn't know me should know me, Gary Vanerchuk is, or Gary V is one of my mentors and one of the, one of the people in life that I look up to name

Speaker 3 (13m 50s): Drop number two coming number two.

Speaker 0 (13m 52s): So Gary, my mate, no, a couple things that we did is we found out that Gary was gonna be at the national with his V friends stuff that he does. But what we thought it was gonna be was like an appearance, no Gary and his whole team, including DRock and all those were actually working one of the stalls.

Speaker 4 (14m 11s): Yeah. That's

Speaker 0 (14m 12s): Awesome. And so you go up, I didn't even know where it was and we're turned around and Chris actually said, he goes, there's your boyfriend? And it was Gary V was working behind the counter, like just serving people. Oh thanks mate. And people were like getting a couple of selfies. They put up a sign saying you can't get things signed or photos or anything until five o'clock. I think it was. But anyway, I met him at five o'clock and standing grading now officially has a signed woo woo. Gary V PSG hat.

Speaker 4 (14m 41s): That's amazing.

Speaker 0 (14m 42s): Which we were pretty excited about at the same time, what we were doing whilst we were, there was we were going up to people and giving away some of our slabs. Right. So we picked pat McAfee cuz pat McAfee's one of the guys that I follow as well. Just

Speaker 4 (14m 56s): Won the super bowl

Speaker 0 (14m 57s): And drop number three. I didn't meet pat though. Dirty. Yeah. So take that one back. We're still too 0.2. But the thing with it is that the card that we, that we did, everyone said to us and that's the, the pat we'll put up there a bit closer later, but the pat Mac, they goes, do you match colors for Over slabs? And I'm sitting now, I didn't even realize that they actually look like we did and our whole thing. And we've got a whole pile on video, which will come out in content when Chris gets back and what that was was what do you think of the slab?

We literally just went, what do you think of the slab? And they go, what do you mean? We're grading company from Australia. We just want some feedback. Cause all we're here for is some feedback and they go, wow, I love it. It's like, I like how thin it is. Love the grades on the back. We, then they scan the QR code, love the report and everything that come out on that. Awesome. And the thing with it is we had positive feedback off everyone. I then when I got that autograph done gave one to Gary V

Speaker 4 (15m 54s): Hey, Ooh.

Speaker 0 (15m 55s): And I said to him, here's your mate, pat. Cause the reason I found pat McAfee was Gary was on his podcast and he's going, wow, mate, that that's awesome. Dunno if I forgot that on video, but that's awesome. And, and he liked him, put it in his pocket and moved on with life. But I then said to him, I actually met you three years ago in Brisbane. He goes, I vividly remember that moment I went, yeah, fuck. He goes, no, you had a jets hat. You, you had a white pen. Didn't work on the jets hat. And I got the black pen and sign the thing and I was gonna

Speaker 4 (16m 25s): That's sick. Holy Molly. Yeah.

Speaker 0 (16m 27s): He was your name drop number three. He's

Speaker 4 (16m 28s): Me. Yeah.

Speaker 0 (16m 29s): He's my bud. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (16m 30s): Gary V Gary V.

Speaker 0 (16m 31s): Gary V. Yeah. That'd be Gary V. So we might hashtag that in this, but anyway, the next day definitely we'll walk around and the National's fucking enormous. Like this thing was ridiculous and we've gone to this stall and Chris goes, there's your boyfriend? It's like, what the fuck? And we're actually right in front of their stall. My back goes to them and I've gone around. I said, I wanna really look at these V friend cards. Cause they're weird as fuck. Yep. These ones were actually hand drawn by Gary V. Yeah. Right. So there was a series. I think it was series one and I'm looking there and I'm going, okay, I'll buy one.

I need to have to buy one. So Gary served me while I bought it and he goes, do you wanna keep it clean? Or do you want me to sign it? Well, fucking sign it champ. So he signed it. So that took that $200 card instantly to a thousand bucks.

Speaker 4 (17m 15s): Wow.

Speaker 0 (17m 15s): Wow. Isn't that ridiculous though? And it's a monkey.

Speaker 4 (17m 18s): It's so cool though. It's actually really, really cool. Make sure we get this one up on the socials. I think

Speaker 0 (17m 22s): We'll put that up there for sure. Cause

Speaker 4 (17m 24s): That one is a classic. That's

Speaker 0 (17m 25s): Beautiful. So that was name drop number two. Let's start. Let's start with we'll you

Speaker 4 (17m 29s): Said it a couple times. I didn't

Speaker 0 (17m 30s): Say

Speaker 4 (17m 31s): Five,

Speaker 0 (17m 33s): But yeah, that was really big. Highlight for me was actually meeting this guy. We also got to meet sports cutting investor.

Speaker 4 (17m 40s): Oh, oh what's his name? Jeff.

Speaker 0 (17m 43s): Jeff. We got to meet Jeff. He actually got some feedback on the slab as well. Oh wow. From that collector two

Speaker 3 (17m 50s): I'd collector two. Yeah. Ryan. I, I saw you messaged him and I was like,

Speaker 0 (17m 52s): What? Yeah. So Ryan, Ryan's actually gonna come on this podcast hopefully next week or the week after. Wow. So that'll be pretty cool. That's sick. So when am I at four? Now I'm just dropping names so I can throw names. No, but the, the thing with these people is they were card collectors. Yeah. Straight up. And that's where I'm trying to go is, is the fact that yeah, they're all these celebrities like Chris was going, oh, that's that BL off TikTok. Well, that's that BL off. I've never fucking seen those blokes in my life, but they're massive. The card kid or the kid, some kid that was 12 was now not 12 anymore, but he was getting photos. All these people are lying up.

Get photos with these people, but they're all just card collectors.

Speaker 3 (18m 26s): They're all like YouTube.

Speaker 0 (18m 26s): Then there was golden.

Speaker 3 (18m 28s): Oh,

Speaker 0 (18m 29s): He will pass me. Oh wow. Didn't Helo.

Speaker 3 (18m 31s): Isn't he? Omars mate.

Speaker 0 (18m 33s): Hello.

Speaker 3 (18m 34s): Everyone's Omars mate.

Speaker 0 (18m 35s): We did meet slap strong. Do with the

Speaker 3 (18m 37s): Big

Speaker 0 (18m 38s): He's gonna come on the potty.

Speaker 3 (18m 40s): He's Omars mate.

Speaker 0 (18m 41s): He's Omars mate. That's how we met him. We actually gave him one of Omar's cards. The one on one cards with a, a piece out his hat mate that were so stoked. They were really, really, really happy with that. Anyway. Some of the other pickups I got while we're awake, mark Cuban.

Speaker 3 (18m 54s): Hey, who?

Speaker 0 (18m 55s): Little bit of a, a bit of, we saw him at, at the basketball summer league at summer league in, in Vegas. That that was a big highlight. I got a, a wicked Zion.

Speaker 3 (19m 7s): Oh bro. That's amazing.

Speaker 0 (19m 8s): That's one of those metal cards. What they called simply stainless or something. We, we got that from somewhere in Utah. Some I forget their names now that's really bad of me. That's so

Speaker 3 (19m 19s): Bad name drop coffee. And

Speaker 0 (19m 21s): No, they had another one. Jeff NIC cards and coffee. That was really cool. That was the national, that's a Jeff Jeff Finney order. And they had a whole pile of Don Bradman and a whole pile stuff. These guys that was really cool.

Speaker 3 (19m 31s): Bradman. Bradman's one that from an Australian point of view, cause obviously that's my passions. Australian cards, the American market on Don Bradman has just gone berserk. Oh really berserk cards that were 10 and $15 cards here. 12 months ago are fetching three, four, $500 over.

Speaker 0 (19m 48s): So I should sell my Bradman order.

Speaker 3 (19m 49s): Your Bradman auto probably would go quite well. No, you gotta keep that. The rookie, the rookie card, his rookie cigarette cards are the ones that they are because it's the American rookie card syndrome. Yeah, yeah, of course. And they are clamoring to get hold these.

Speaker 0 (20m 2s): And do you know why I can tell you why

Speaker 3 (20m 4s): Go on?

Speaker 0 (20m 4s): Cause in the us alone in Utah, there's 140 cricket teams.

Speaker 3 (20m 9s): What 140

Speaker 0 (20m 10s): In Utah, because what happened is there's been a, a massive influx of Indians because of the tech influx and Silicon slopes, which we had a really good meeting with those, those guys down that way. And yeah, they, they were saying that there's so many Indians there now that they're actually created cricket leagues and all this sort of stuff. And so cricket is becoming massive in the

Speaker 3 (20m 33s): Us. Like makes sense. Doesn't

Speaker 0 (20m 34s): It? But yeah, a hundred percent. And that's like buddy of the show, Joe Burns some five number five CEOs. No, never drop. Just pick up loving it, loving it. Yeah. Well Joe Burns is doing a St in Atlanta. I believe he was gonna go and do some cricket over there. Like the Atlanta IPL type thing. Well,

Speaker 3 (20m 50s): The Indian connection that you mentioned makes sense because the other card that's blown up over, there is a base card out of a 1996 set here in Australia of the first card at such 10 der there. So that makes that bringing the Indian component to makes a lot of sense that that's

Speaker 4 (21m 5s): Yeah. 96 Futura. Yep. I got one of them at home.

Speaker 3 (21m 8s): I got, yeah,

Speaker 0 (21m 10s): I got, I bring it in. I'll look after for. So the other thing we did is everyone I'm obsessed with PSA ones. I love it. I do the fact that they're, that they got graded, that someone sent 'em in I've now got SGC ones.

Speaker 4 (21m 23s): Yeah. They're cool. SGC.

Speaker 0 (21m 25s): And there's a, but

Speaker 3 (21m 26s): You know cards going well to get a one isn't it?

Speaker 0 (21m 28s): Oh, a hundred percent were

Speaker 4 (21m 30s): It's a bit it's alright. If they're,

Speaker 0 (21m 31s): But if you look at this, there's a question for you PS. You're you're a cardiologist. Me looking at this, I reckon it's about a three or a four, but then given it a one, what do you reckon

Speaker 4 (21m 42s): Could just have, give us one. I need my glasses. These days depends on if there's a crease or

Speaker 3 (21m 50s): Well, Mickey Mantle's being folded down the middle.

Speaker 0 (21m 52s): That one is, yeah, I get that. But that card that pugs has got, oh, this one's got a fold in it. Isn't too bad. There's no fold on the back though. I was expecting to see something really nasty on the back.

Speaker 3 (22m 1s): Surely your greatest, just looking and go look, save my time. Let's just give this a one.

Speaker 4 (22m 4s): Well, this surface is

Speaker 0 (22m 6s): Shit.

Speaker 4 (22m 6s): Pretty shot. Corners are a bit dull,

Speaker 0 (22m 10s): But yeah, but

Speaker 4 (22m 11s): Is it one word one's pretty extreme? It

Speaker 0 (22m 13s): Does. It seems harsh. Doesn't it? This

Speaker 4 (22m 15s): Is this. Got it cheaper. So that's all right.

Speaker 0 (22m 17s): No, not really. It Mickey man, my Mickey man was going off chop

Speaker 4 (22m 20s): 10 years since his rookie though.

Speaker 0 (22m 22s): It's yeah, it was pretty insane. I bought my Mickey Mannel t-shirt that? I've got the amount of comments I had fuck was

Speaker 4 (22m 29s): Unbelievable. That card was going nuts over there though.

Speaker 0 (22m 31s): Oh mate. They,

Speaker 4 (22m 32s): Especially with that 9.5 St. There's

Speaker 0 (22m 34s): A 10. We

Speaker 4 (22m 35s): Saw the 10 PSA 10.

Speaker 0 (22m 36s): The, the 10 was that it was not for sale at all, but they reckon it's worth 25 million, right? Yes. Nuts. The 9.5, which is either up for auction or going out for auction, they reckon is gonna get, is going to get 10000001st $10 million car and Dr. Card. Sorry. If I got that wrong, cricket has the second most fans of any sport in the world, get the Indian card market going. And the upside is crazy. Yeah. Very true. Very true.

And welcome all the other people that have just joined us on there's along the line. So apologies for the delays and my three favorite cards. Yes. Right. That I got there's actually one. That's not with me. That's had the most feedback online and that is a signed Chevy chase fledge card.

Speaker 4 (23m 23s): So

Speaker 0 (23m 23s): Cool. Which I didn't believe a lot of these youngster knew what fle was, but I'm gonna do this in order. I reckon. So we go on the big fella, Andre, the giant

Speaker 4 (23m 32s): That's wicked.

Speaker 3 (23m 32s): Beautiful. What

Speaker 4 (23m 33s): Did that got?

Speaker 0 (23m 34s): An eight. That was an eight. Yeah. It was actually good. Nick for the 1987 Andre card. Yep. We got a Ron burgundy anchorman card. This was at the day where Chris and I said you

Speaker 3 (23m 46s): Were my hands.

Speaker 0 (23m 47s): This is where Chris. And I said, let's go and find the most random ship we could buy. And I won Ron burgundy, Ron

Speaker 3 (23m 55s): Burg. I think that's

Speaker 4 (23m 55s): Cool. Like giving yourselves a little

Speaker 0 (23m 57s): Challenge. Oh, it was great. It was like a lot of these guys doing penny challenges where they start with 1 cent buy one car then the, and I think one got to five and a half grand. Anyway, here we go.

Speaker 3 (24m 6s): Number one.

Speaker 0 (24m 7s): You can announce what it's mate. Read the back. Read the back first. Oh actually you need your glasses. That's all right. Right. It's a big announcement. This one.

Speaker 4 (24m 14s): All righty. I'll read the back. It's like always pair for doing things in style. Justin and fellow Canadian singer Drake shared a ride to the 21st annual much music video awards in MEbA in a Mayback, a German luxury car. So it's, it's

Speaker 0 (24m 30s): A Drake's rookie card.

Speaker 4 (24m 31s): Justin Bieber from 2010 panini. That's amazing.

Speaker 0 (24m 35s): So it is a Justin Bieber and Drake rookie card. That's

Speaker 4 (24m 38s): So cool. Justin

Speaker 3 (24m 39s): Bieber and Drake,

Speaker 0 (24m 39s): But what I did find, and I have upstairs is Justin Bieber's rookie cut. I got Justin Bieber's first ever song that he did live or something. Rookie cut. And Chris, is there going, why the fucks are you buying Justin? Be just to say Justin BBER is not my PC.

Speaker 4 (24m 56s): We got two

Speaker 3 (24m 57s): And

Speaker 0 (24m 57s): Never I've got six of them, but that's fine.

Speaker 3 (24m 59s): There is a Justin Bieber set him himself alone.

Speaker 4 (25m 2s): Well, that's what that's

Speaker 3 (25m 3s): That's one

Speaker 4 (25m 4s): Panini. Justin Bieber is the of the

Speaker 3 (25m 6s): Set. Oh, you are joking. That's great. I never thought I'd know anyone that owned a car from that. It,

Speaker 0 (25m 10s): I have a few of them. There's there's one other card that I got when I was away. It's his secret

Speaker 3 (25m 14s): Piece. It is

Speaker 0 (25m 14s): His secret. Anyway, baby. You know the worst, the song that's even

Speaker 4 (25m 20s): It's it's the same word.

Speaker 0 (25m 21s): Exactly. Oh, that's right. He he's a very intelligent humor. I did buy one other card. And Rob, I've already given this to you earlier. Yeah. To go with the Jersey that I bought you because fuck, I'm in just a really nice bloke. Yeah. And I looked at it and giggled, cause it said Sanchez and I first thought of dirty Sanchez cuz I thought that was a music. Yep. I thought I've gotta buy that for Rob. And then we saw the rookie card as well. Can you tell me about this bloke mate?

Speaker 3 (25m 44s): Mark Sanchez. So Mark Sanchez, Mark Sanchez. His one of two players that are been crossover PCs for me. Yep. Because I PC the New York jets go, the jets go the jets and I also PC USC Trojans. And so he's a Trojan that became a jet. Yep. And is there many there, there was a few Sam, Donald it's the same. And Leonard Williams.

Speaker 0 (26m 9s): See this knowledge you can get, if you go to local card shopping, this is, this is true. This is just fonts of knowledge of

Speaker 3 (26m 13s): Sport. But the other massive PC of mine, which he actually falls into is quarterbacks that went to the jets and now are screwed. So pretty

Speaker 0 (26m 21s): Much that's a very line. That is a long

Speaker 3 (26m 23s): Line of quarterbacks. I have got more $1 autograph jets, quarterback cards, and any single person would ever have say,

Speaker 0 (26m 30s): What is a question then Jet's trivia question. What was the name of the Aussie that became the punter at the jet.

Speaker 3 (26m 36s): And I've got an autograph card of his Ben Graham.

Speaker 0 (26m 39s): I wanted Jersey. I gonna be awesome.

Speaker 3 (26m 41s): Yeah, that'd be cool. The card I've got that he, he autographed. If my name was Ike would be worth

Speaker 0 (26m 46s): So

Speaker 3 (26m 46s): Much more, so much more. That's

Speaker 0 (26m 47s): Like the pat Maby when I got upstairs, I wish my name was

Speaker 4 (26m 49s): Turning into Rob

Speaker 0 (26m 51s): Was Jared.

Speaker 3 (26m 52s): Exactly

Speaker 0 (26m 53s): Too. Jared love pat Maby.

Speaker 3 (26m 54s): But I saw this Ben Ben Graham, cuz the other thing I love with cards is kickers because there's very few, a hundred percent. So it's cool to get a kickers card. And there was a jets, there was a card with three kickers on it and Ben Graham was one of them and it cost me $2, 24

Speaker 0 (27m 10s): Us. And he was the third kicker two. Wasn't he at the

Speaker 3 (27m 12s): Time? I think so. Yeah.

Speaker 0 (27m 13s): Yeah. It's funny. Cuz one thing that Gary V have I mentioned him yet. Yeah. He's a massive jet and every

Speaker 3 (27m 18s): He's gonna buy the jets one day. Isn't he? He

Speaker 0 (27m 20s): Is. That's his mission in life. But every year, what he does is whoever's the last man on the roster. So is there 55?

Speaker 3 (27m 27s): 50, 55 or 52? Yeah. 50

Speaker 0 (27m 30s): Something. Whenever the last man on the roster, he gets their Jersey made and that's what he wears all the games. So that's cool. So they probably never get a run, but the thing is, that's cool. He's making them famous by actually doing that. I love that sort of stuff.

Speaker 3 (27m 41s): I've got a similar one with the Brisbane lion. Yeah. So they always sell their jerseys each year. I just get the number 42 every time. I don't care who it is, the number 42. So anyone who's ever read the hitchhiker guy to the galaxy will understand a little bit about the number 42 cuz it's the answer to everything and that's how I picked it. So that's how I picked it when I played my junior footy or wore 42. Love it. So yeah.

Speaker 0 (28m 2s): Did you ever play footy? P

Speaker 4 (28m 5s): Which foot are you talking about?

Speaker 0 (28m 7s): AFL or

Speaker 4 (28m 7s): League? I played AFL in like primary school. Did you? Yeah, but my mum was like fully against it. There'll be too many injuries. So yeah, I got that. Play basketball.

Speaker 3 (28m 15s): Now he BLEs around

Speaker 4 (28m 15s): Play basketball and now that's screw me for life. Thanks mum.

Speaker 3 (28m 19s): No head injuries though. So

Speaker 4 (28m 21s): I've had maybe concussions. Oh, okay, cool. Cause I could jump real high and people, ankle tap you cuz they're Douch bags. And

Speaker 0 (28m 27s): So how tall are your

Speaker 4 (28m 28s): Pugs? 5, 9, 5, 9.

Speaker 0 (28m 30s): You could dunk back in the day.

Speaker 3 (28m 31s): Yeah. Yeah. I've seen that.

Speaker 4 (28m 32s): I could still touch the ring. I touched the ring yesterday. My knees hurting because of it. But at, at my son's bus ball training yesterday, I was like, oh, I'll give it a shot.

Speaker 0 (28m 41s): Could still get so where's that bounce come from the, the quads

Speaker 4 (28m 46s): Have no idea.

Speaker 0 (28m 47s): Is it somewhere is like a history of sort

Speaker 4 (28m 49s): Of, I've just always jumped. I could touch the backboard in grade six.

Speaker 3 (28m 53s): Massive

Speaker 4 (28m 54s): Holy hook. Yeah. It's massive. It's just,

Speaker 3 (28m 56s): I still need a ladder

Speaker 0 (28m 58s): Too, mate. I, I got the net once at my peak and

Speaker 3 (29m 2s): Then got your fingers caught.

Speaker 0 (29m 3s): Oh, I'm a little

Speaker 4 (29m 5s): Talk trouble about, I had my, I used to have a eyebrow ring and I got, got that caught in the net once and it ripped out,

Speaker 0 (29m 11s): Oh, I got guitar coach basketball just before we went away. There was that tournament where we got beat by 30 in every game, but that's a different story. And one of the kids, I said dunk, it you'll be alright mate in warmups. And he got his fingers stuck in the net and it's just, do's got a little bit sideways. That's I'll pop it back in Rick. Now learn that. He's probably got no feeling left his finger. Oh, not funny. And that's yeah. The Brett should not be a doctor or maybe a basketball coach.

Speaker 4 (29m 36s): No, I think you do it right as basketball coach.

Speaker 0 (29m 37s): Yeah, we do.

Speaker 4 (29m 38s): Just not

Speaker 0 (29m 38s): The doctor just don't do the doctor bit, but yeah. So anyway and big news on the gold coast, gold coast rollers, obviously on top of the league at the yes at the MB one they're playing this weekend, I think for a spot in the grand final or it is the grand final's sure one which is pretty awesome, but even bigger news. Are you ready?

Speaker 3 (29m 55s): Ready?

Speaker 0 (29m 56s): The gold coast. Tropics is real.

Speaker 3 (29m 59s): The gold coast shoppings is real

Speaker 0 (30m 0s): Is real. It's real GC, tropics.com.

Speaker 4 (30m 4s): Ron burgundy,

Speaker 0 (30m 5s): GC tropics.com. What if you go to that website and you register, we want as many people as we can to actually register on there to say they want the gold, the NBL back on the gold coast. That's sick. So it's our, we we've started as of today. Platinum center grading is the major sponsor and GC tropics is a real thing. So submission

Speaker 4 (30m 26s): Com or.com AU or just.com, just do

Speaker 0 (30m 28s): Com just.com know. So if we can get everyone on there, do it now and, and we can do that. So up the tropics let's go Tropic.

Speaker 3 (30m 36s): What was it? What was the web address again?

Speaker 0 (30m 39s): Www do GC tropics.com

Speaker 3 (30m 43s): Rolls off the tongue. Doesn't it? It does.

Speaker 0 (30m 44s): It does. And the

Speaker 4 (30m 46s): Tropics

Speaker 0 (30m 46s): Love it. The uniforms look familiar. They may be a 30% color change just cause that's for reasons

Speaker 4 (30m 53s): At a wave on there.

Speaker 0 (30m 55s): Have

Speaker 3 (30m 55s): You got a picture of one of the guys that played in the tropics?

Speaker 0 (30m 58s): We do. We can put that up on the socials.

Speaker 4 (31m 0s): Got Ron

Speaker 0 (31m 1s): S oh your desk there. He's here. Boom.

Speaker 4 (31m 4s): Oh Jackie, he

Speaker 0 (31m 6s): Jackie moon. I bought,

Speaker 4 (31m 8s): I hope there's a player who, whose last name is moon.

Speaker 0 (31m 11s): Oh, there will be.

Speaker 3 (31m 12s): I'll just

Speaker 0 (31m 12s): Get one change.

Speaker 3 (31m 15s): Just submission partners. Get cheap tickets for the game. They

Speaker 0 (31m 17s): Will hundred

Speaker 3 (31m 18s): All submission partners assign, oh,

Speaker 0 (31m 19s): You just flash one of your slab. You might get in true story. So yeah, there's a big project that's going on. This is the, this is the other reason Chris is actually in, in the UK as part of obviously PSGs the, the major sponsor of the gold coast tropics. And that'll be, no one will be wrestling. A bear. Actually, Chris looks a bit like a bear. Someone could wrestle Chris. But while we, while we're doing is we're trying to get the BL back on the gold coast we had, yes. Chris's name dropped 37 times. I actually met with the commissioner of the NBL when I was in Las Vegas.

And he said, no. Oh cool. So hence reasons. Well, so hence the reason why the website's up and we wanna get as many people on there as possible. Bring NBL back to the gold coast. You look at the NBO one team is gonna win the final. The other NBO one team did really well this year. And if you look at the support that go, basketball's got here on the gold coast, it's massive. Well, and to go with that bin chicken stadium, as it may be called in the future is also in discussions with local council. Yeah,

Speaker 3 (32m 20s): That's awesome. But I mean, on, on the basketball thing, I mean 450 kids at a Josh giddy training camp says lot.

Speaker 0 (32m 26s): Doesn't it? It does a hundred percent. And that, well, just

Speaker 4 (32m 28s): Think of how many people have moved up here since COVID as well from down south, they're all basketball,

Speaker 0 (32m 33s): Basketball, NFL sport lovers, a hundred percent. So what we look at, we need the, the proper facilities. We need a really, really good team. And at the same time, as we need your support, go to GC, tropics, tropics.com.

Speaker 4 (32m 46s): That's beautiful.

Speaker 0 (32m 47s): That's awesome. Anyway, that was my free ad for the

Speaker 3 (32m 49s): Day. Well, I better get on there. After we do this podcast,

Speaker 0 (32m 51s): You should drop, you should. And if local card shop wants to open a shop in the stadium near the, as long as there's GC Tropic stuff everywhere, then obviously everyone will be happy. That could be an option too.

Speaker 3 (33m 2s): Like just get us a shirt. We'll wear it at the local car shop.

Speaker 0 (33m 5s): Indeed. We'll do that. We'll do that. I actually bought one back for, for Rachel. Who's my assistant. And I brought her back her and she's gonna to unpick the word Flint and put in, I'll put in the gold coast, which looks pretty good. We'll put a picture of that app on the socials as well, with the details and all that sort of stuff. And we've just got J Smith 60. We know where they're from. JCS have just registered. So thanks very much for that support, but

Speaker 3 (33m 30s): John's an absolute legend down at car market tears. Isn't he? So shout out to John. Hello? And I know he's good wife has. I was talking to her the other week and she's traveled down to Iora. So hopefully she's having a safe time down when they're with her family.

Speaker 0 (33m 43s): Lovely, lovely. Joby I hear there's a bit of water going on down that way too. Now it's gonna rain lots and lots over the next couple of days. Oh really?

Speaker 3 (33m 49s): Okay. Yeah. There's a lot. It's been raining down there for a fair bit too. While you guys are away, mate,

Speaker 0 (33m 53s): We in Las Vegas, 48 degrees the next day, it rained. I've never seen rain in Las Vegas and I've been there a number of times and it pissed down rain and it was like, what's going here since we left. It's been flooded.

Speaker 3 (34m 5s): Oh wow. Vegas

Speaker 0 (34m 6s): Vegas is floody.

Speaker 3 (34m 7s): I do remember seeing a story of it once where the, where there was water flowing down the strip. Yeah. Was that, that rain? So it must be similar to Queensland when it comes. It comes

Speaker 0 (34m 16s): Yeah. A hundred percent. A hundred percent. So that's all exciting. So what else is going in the PSG over? You've heard from me now I'm gonna shut up. No, I'm not. That was a joke. What's going on in the PSG? Well,

Speaker 4 (34m 27s): Just lots of grading. Lots of getting quite a lot of submissions, which is really good. It's good to see. We've finished the hobby hangout submissions. We're ready to crack onto the next one. So, well,

Speaker 0 (34m 38s): I've got a bit of a, an idea. Now. Want your feedback on this guys? Okay. So I wanna give everyone a hobby hangout, a free grade,

Speaker 3 (34m 50s): A free grade.

Speaker 0 (34m 51s): What are you reckon? So every single person that comes to hobby, hang

Speaker 3 (34m 54s): I'm just gonna go and get a flight down to hobby hang,

Speaker 0 (34m 56s): But everyone comes to hobby hangout in Melbourne. Yeah. I wanna give every single person a free grade. All they're gonna have to pay for is the postage one card per person. Yeah. And we grade it for free. What do you reckon? Am I nuts?

Speaker 3 (35m 8s): Yeah. They're they're two different questions. Are you nuts? And is that a good idea? Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35m 13s): I just, I think it's a great idea. But

Speaker 3 (35m 15s): Look from, from a local car job, point of view, just the feedback we get when people actually physically hold the slabs is amazing. Well,

Speaker 0 (35m 22s): That's, that's the reason this has popped into my head during a very long flight back from New York is the fact that that same feedback we get off everyone, right. Is unless you are, I did have one here. It's over there when you're holding the slab and you feel it and you try and break it. There's a guy online, oh, forget his name. He tries to snap every slab and he's got ours. He just couldn't get there. Which I quite like. That's not a

Speaker 3 (35m 44s): Challenge. I told you this morning, what I did indeed for two days, sat there trying to, I was working with Omar who asked me to give some feedback on cigarette cards, getting graded. And he was able to put it in a slab and he asked me to move it. And I smashed that slab on the side of tables for two days,

Speaker 0 (36m 1s): You've got some movement

Speaker 3 (36m 2s): In the end. I've got some movement in the end, but it took two days and I'm talking, but

Speaker 4 (36m 5s): You would've had to try around.

Speaker 3 (36m 7s): I was giving it an absolute hiding. Wow. So that's

Speaker 0 (36m 10s): Good news. Yeah. But that's what we want. Well, we want, and then what we wanted is everyone to feedback online and it'll be something like hashtag PSG free grade. There we go. Let's make that up as we go along, but we're gonna give everyone a free grade. All they gotta do is pay for postage. One of the questions that got asked when I've only told this to one other person, so everyone's hearing this raw was what happens if they wanna do submissions on the day and that sort of stuff, it's like, that's fine. We'll give you your first card free. Yeah. Yep. And submit the rest and you still get the deal. So

Speaker 3 (36m 39s): That's that? Cuz I remember in Sydney, one of the guys I know down there submitted online before he got there. He did. So he pays for it online, but he'll get the first one free,

Speaker 0 (36m 48s): But he'll get the first one free. So I need to go and tell the people to take the payments that that's what we're doing as well. So, but yeah, that, that's what we're gonna do so excellent. Are we out for it?

Speaker 4 (36m 56s): Yeah, I think we're out for it.

Speaker 0 (36m 57s): Let's do it. So let's

Speaker 4 (36m 58s): Do that. If there's like a thousand cards, it's gonna be, well, hopefully we're gonna be busy, but that's goods. Good. It's sweet. I actually think it's a great idea. That means more people actually have stuff in their

Speaker 3 (37m 9s): Hand and what's the deal for hobby hanging out people as well.

Speaker 0 (37m 12s): So it would be the same as we did at the last, however, the big change is we're not given away gold cards this time. So all we're given, we are given away free grading for life. Cause that's our thing we do with our platinum card. The big difference is you have to have submitted a card,

Speaker 3 (37m 27s): But it could be a free card.

Speaker 0 (37m 28s): It'll be a free

Speaker 3 (37m 29s): Card. So really you've done nothing.

Speaker 0 (37m 30s): You've done nothing except submitted a card, give a share and pay for the postage. Yep. So as long as people pay for postage, I'm happy, right? Because to me, I'll take the cop. I'll I'll pay for it. But at the same time, you also then get going the submission. So I'd love to hear people's feedbacks on that. Queen of cards. Odds has just joined us and JIT 60 JCS are putting another batching this Friday.

Speaker 4 (37m 51s): Oh sweet.

Speaker 0 (37m 51s): Wow. That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (37m 52s): Work on their other one right now.

Speaker 3 (37m 54s): You're gonna be busy. It

Speaker 4 (37m 55s): Is fine.

Speaker 0 (37m 56s): You're even busy now cuz you know what? We're gonna also do that in the next one in Brisbane and the next one in Sydney.

Speaker 4 (38m 1s): Yeah. Oh yeah.

Speaker 3 (38m 2s): He just made that decision.

Speaker 0 (38m 3s): I just made that decision. Chris doesn't stab me in the heart when he gets back. Chris,

Speaker 3 (38m 8s): Won't get back. Cuz he's now in the came in

Speaker 4 (38m 10s): Or the graders.

Speaker 0 (38m 12s): Yeah. And you can break that to the other graders. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38m 14s): I will like, Hey, guess what? What printers

Speaker 0 (38m 17s): Did. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38m 19s): That's cool. So if they go online yep.

Speaker 0 (38m 21s): There'll be an option to

Speaker 3 (38m 22s): So it's $20 per card. If you submit at the, something like that, isn't

Speaker 0 (38m 25s): It at the hobby hangout.

Speaker 4 (38m 26s): Yep. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (38m 27s): 20. So $20 a card. So you could effectively do three cards for 40 bucks plus postage. Yeah, because you get, or you could do six cards for a hundred bucks

Speaker 0 (38m 34s): Plus. Oh you do 150 cards or pay for 149. We, yeah, I can't do the math. I just took the one off. But yeah. And we'd still do pre-submission we'll still do all that Liam. Who's our BDM. He will be the one running with this. So he'll be the one that if anyone needs to yell at before every reason that's Liam. Yeah. Li grading net. So if you wanna send him a shout out, that's fine too.

Speaker 3 (39m 1s): Send him a shout out anyway, because he did a great job on your podcast for a couple

Speaker 0 (39m 4s): Of he did, he was my standin, but I think he was up more like this. Cause he's got such long. I don't have a net, especially after three weeks in the us few more chins. But

Speaker 3 (39m 15s): Anyone said a name drop or the in and out

Speaker 0 (39m 16s): Gary? No, I didn't. Didn't mention Gary Chu.

Speaker 3 (39m 19s): No, no Gary.

Speaker 0 (39m 20s): Oh. Oh. I tell you. We did meet him. Oh yeah. Is Gary from DG? Chan Gary Chan the man walking along goodnight. Guess

Speaker 3 (39m 29s): CG collectables. How cool is

Speaker 0 (39m 30s): He? I may what the best. He's one

Speaker 3 (39m 32s): Of the coolest

Speaker 0 (39m 32s): She, he did stand me up for dinner though. When we're in Melbourne. Dinner's on Gary.

Speaker 3 (39m 37s): He does that

Speaker 0 (39m 38s): For all of us. For all of us. Yeah. Yeah. I just remember.

Speaker 3 (39m 41s): I remember I'm joining as well. Now

Speaker 0 (39m 44s): That that's all part of the fun anyway. Excellent. So when I was going in the grading world, have we seen any of these new cards coming yet?

Speaker 3 (39m 51s): I haven't seen any which ones? The AFL ones. Yeah. Well they're only busted yesterday and they actually don't fit in the slab. So

Speaker 0 (39m 57s): That's a good point too. So just

Speaker 3 (39m 58s): Do got, send them in.

Speaker 0 (39m 59s): Let me, let me put a caveat. My previous statement. Yeah. The cards have to be 35 35, 5

Speaker 3 (40m 6s): Or

Speaker 0 (40m 6s): 55 35 or 55. So just make sure we'll add that as a,

Speaker 3 (40m 9s): Hopefully that changes.

Speaker 0 (40m 11s): Yeah. We'll change very soon. Actually. There's some news coming on that front. The, the new plastic is being plasticized.

Speaker 3 (40m 17s): I know from like that us AFL collectors, that will be a, some big news for us. Even us MBA collectors,

Speaker 0 (40m 23s): But also we've we've now got, did we show where mores away? The booklets? The booklet.

Speaker 3 (40m 28s): Oh, heck

Speaker 0 (40m 28s): Yeah. One touches. They're pretty

Speaker 3 (40m 30s): Cool. Local car shop association. A place to get it right? Yeah. Yeah. In association with PSG.

Speaker 0 (40m 35s): Yep. Is where they've been sold. We

Speaker 3 (40m 36s): Brought them in and been selling a fair few of those. So shout. Oh, that's awesome. Shout out to all the people that have actually referred people to these local card shop because that's for those. Yeah. For those ones.

Speaker 0 (40m 46s): I think we're the only ones in the country with them at the moment. I haven't seen many others.

Speaker 3 (40m 49s): I believe there's select will be getting 'em in as well. They

Speaker 0 (40m 52s): Haven't gonna meet though. Cause they've got booklets. So come to local card shop. Cause select don't have shit yet.

Speaker 3 (40m 57s): Well, they don't have theirs yet. No, they have better. Anyway, ours is a pretty bloody good quality. I'm not gonna

Speaker 0 (41m 3s): Lie to you. Thanks very much.

Speaker 3 (41m 4s): Well, I probably would, but not on this.

Speaker 0 (41m 6s): So talk to me about this. There was some massive car drop. There's a bit of upper around Australia post cuz they're useless.

Speaker 3 (41m 11s): Oh yeah. Look. I mean,

Speaker 0 (41m 12s): But what what's the card? Where's it come from?

Speaker 3 (41m 14s): So select interestingly

Speaker 0 (41m 16s): Australian company, select

Speaker 3 (41m 17s): Australian company select yeah. Interestingly this year, normally their, their release schedule is footy stars, their footy stars prestige. Then they go into a series two, which I think last year was called optimum. And then they have their big release, which is either supremacy or brilliance, which they seem to switch each year so that they, yeah. So they come out each

Speaker 0 (41m 36s): Two. Why would they do that?

Speaker 3 (41m 37s): I think just not to flog a dead horse. Okay. So they're not like panini, just like, no, they don't wanna flood the market with supremacy year after year and then people get sick of it. So it should be so

Speaker 0 (41m 46s): Can they pull flux as well? Even though there's nothing to do with it fucking happens.

Speaker 3 (41m 49s): Well they flux available at local car shop cheap.

Speaker 0 (41m 54s): Cause they're shit. Sorry. Maybe on

Speaker 3 (41m 56s): The one. Oh. Ones are pretty nice though, but that's yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 0 (41m 60s): I've never seen one

Speaker 3 (42m 1s): Actually really nice. No one oh ones in select because they don't do that. But brilliance is an absolutely fantastic card. So

Speaker 0 (42m 7s): Is Bri are they numbered cards? They booklets, what

Speaker 3 (42m 9s): Are they? Single card is numbered. There's only one card per box. Oh wow. They've got one card per box. One card per box.

Speaker 0 (42m 14s): Are they? They sealed?

Speaker 3 (42m 15s): Yes. Yeah. Yeah. So they're all encased. Yeah. So look, they have, I think it's four cards, four base cards, which number to 50.

Speaker 0 (42m 25s): Okay.

Speaker 3 (42m 26s): Then they have one gold card, which is

Speaker 0 (42m 29s): Not the

Speaker 3 (42m 29s): Same. No, no, no different different player. Yeah. One per team, which is number to 35. Oh wow. And then there's only six teams that are represented in an auto. Oh wow. But these autos, I was talking to someone yesterday and they said, oh, you know, these guys are club legends. And I said, no, no, these guys are club legends. They are AFL legends. They go past it. So for instance, Dennis pagan and Wayne Kerry of signed car together.

Speaker 0 (42m 52s): So there's only one of these

Speaker 3 (42m 54s): There's no, there's 50 of each order.

Speaker 0 (42m 56s): Oh,

Speaker 3 (42m 56s): Okay. Cool. So Kerry and pagan. It's a captain and coach premiership card. Yeah. That's so Trent Cochen and Damien Hardwick. But the big one for the Brisbane collectors is the Michael boss and Lee Matthews. That's pretty special. So,

Speaker 0 (43m 9s): And what, what Swanee's in there?

Speaker 3 (43m 11s): Sorry,

Speaker 0 (43m 12s): What Swanee's are in there?

Speaker 3 (43m 13s): What Swanee? Dan Swan.

Speaker 0 (43m 15s): Sydney Swan, Sydney,

Speaker 3 (43m 17s): Swans

Speaker 0 (43m 18s): Comedian. Who are the six clubs that got the,

Speaker 3 (43m 23s): The auto yeah. Are Brisbane Carlton, north Melbourne, Melbourne, Richmond. And somebody else who I can get up very quickly.

Speaker 0 (43m 36s): Obviously not Sydney.

Speaker 3 (43m 37s): I don't think it is Sydney. Not too

Speaker 0 (43m 38s): Long. They're dead to me. Jalong.

Speaker 3 (43m 40s): Cameron Ling. Yeah. Lincoln ding. Ding. Yeah. But look, they are just ripping looking cards and the, the, I guess there's no there's no opera or anything about them. I mean, yeah. Oh,

Speaker 0 (43m 52s): There is like Australia posting. How much are they?

Speaker 3 (43m 55s): 150 bucks a box.

Speaker 0 (43m 56s): What do you see for last night? PS

Speaker 3 (43m 58s): Thousand dollars. Yep. They're not selling at those ridiculous prices of a thousand dollars per box. But having said that they are,

Speaker 0 (44m 5s): They will

Speaker 3 (44m 7s): Yeah. Look AFL.

Speaker 0 (44m 9s): You, you said this haven't here. The guys that actually buy like cards, like we, we bought some back from the states. I was showing you this morning, Rob like 1982. Yep. And stuff like that. Like you will get guys that sit on this stuff.

Speaker 3 (44m 20s): Yeah. Not that many really. There's only 4,330 boxes. Oh wow. So it's one of the products that pretty much gets opened. But

Speaker 0 (44m 29s): Would that get, go, like, let's say outta the 400, let's say 30 people keep 'em. Will they go up in value each year? Because

Speaker 3 (44m 36s): With the, with AFL collecting, it is, it's a strange market because there is a price spike at the start. There's the, at the start, the dead set FOMO kicks

Speaker 0 (44m 45s): In. Yeah. Yeah. Like, ah, shit.

Speaker 3 (44m 46s): I missed that. There's only 35. Michael Voss gold cards. I wanna Michael Voss gold card. Okay. I pay a dumber

Speaker 0 (44m 51s): For it. What does that then do to the singles market? When someone, cause obviously we love open boxes. That's the reason we, we play this. Game's

Speaker 3 (44m 58s): Why I'm cracking, refreshing my Australia post app.

Speaker 0 (45m 2s): But the thing with it is like, let's say there's a Bossie and that's the card everyone wants does that's okay. One's been pulled 29 left. Does that then increase the value that way? Is that the way that

Speaker 3 (45m 11s): Works? That's where the FOMO kicks in. And like we looked yesterday and there was one there's one website and I don't know, they got a lot of stock and they did about, I don't know, 10, 15 boxes BreakD oh wow. Broke on this. And I'm in a couple of group chats and there's only 49. Lost and Matthews left 47 46.

Speaker 0 (45m 29s): Oh. So they counting down.

Speaker 3 (45m 30s): Yeah. And I saw one break last night. This is something that I think select could, I dunno. Maybe it shows how random it is that they allocate the boxes out. But when people buy two boxes and they get the same card in both boxes. Oh

Speaker 0 (45m 43s): That's, that's

Speaker 3 (45m 44s): Not good. But last night I saw a break where two Lee Matthews, Michael Voss auto in two boxes, one bloke in the break hits in both. Oh

Speaker 0 (45m 53s): No. How dirty would you

Speaker 3 (45m 54s): Make? How dirty I made on PM and the bloke like it's no tomorrow, but I'm sure you had plenty of PMs, but the, the product itself is brilliant. Select. They cop flack every single time about the releases because this release went on sale Saturday at five o'clock, which I give them kudos for that because they used to do 'em at like three o'clock on a Wednesday where you know, people are at work and a lot of people missed out. So they did it Saturday at five o'clock.

Speaker 0 (46m 20s): Was it limited? Could you only buy 1, 2, 5, 2

Speaker 3 (46m 22s): Per household? So they even go down to the case of per household. So if they find,

Speaker 0 (46m 27s): So what we're not gonna do, I'll make this up as I go along as well. We're not gonna do that for the free graded card. We'll do it per person.

Speaker 3 (46m 33s): Yeah. Of that's

Speaker 0 (46m 34s): Good dad there like that. Yep.

Speaker 3 (46m 36s): But yeah. So someone's

Speaker 0 (46m 37s): Recording this.

Speaker 3 (46m 37s): They go per household. And even to the extent that like later that night boxes were coming back on the market were selected canceled orders, but at 5 0 1, no dice, they're all gone. Oh yeah. Under a minute. I, I don't, I don't, they do the captures. I do everything. I just think that there are a lot of people that wanna buy the product. So, and on Saturday, so they have a SCC club, select collectors club. Yep. And all those members were able to get two boxes. I think they have up to a thousand members. I dunno what the actual number is, but it's a thousand members.

There's two thousands. So they've only got 2000 boxes going on sale Saturday afternoon. Lots of people talk about bots. I think that those people like to stir. Yeah.

Speaker 0 (47m 18s): Cause they didn't get any so fucking,

Speaker 3 (47m 20s): It must be the bots, but I didn't get any on Saturday night. I couldn't, but I got my two outta my SCC membership. So as I said, eagerly, awaiting those to see, hopefully I can pull a Michael Vos auto or something that I can trade for a Michael Voss auto. Yeah. Cool. But

Speaker 0 (47m 34s): They're so if anyway, he's got Michael Voss auto call me. Oh yeah. Come straight to me and I'll sell

Speaker 3 (47m 40s): It to him. Okay. Do you wanna know who the swans are? Because you're, you're gonna love no, no, no swans autos, but the swans plays in there. Yeah. And you've got your Luke Parker course and Logan McDonald, which so they try and go with one veteran in the team and one youngster, youngster. But then they've got club legends, the other two cards. So for like, is he there? Who

Speaker 0 (48m 2s): Is he there? He's Jared there?

Speaker 3 (48m 4s): No, Jared MC he's not a club legend. He's now a coach of a

Speaker 0 (48m 8s): He's assistant coach.

Speaker 3 (48m 9s): Oh no, that's right. Mark's the coach. Yeah, either one. So was that number seven? Why did you

Speaker 0 (48m 14s): I've two then. Oh, I thought he was a card.

Speaker 3 (48m 16s): Yeah. But why did you mention?

Speaker 0 (48m 17s): Cause I thought he might've been the card. Cause that's my PC

Speaker 3 (48m 20s): PC. Did you coach him

Speaker 0 (48m 21s): In any states? Yeah, I did. That's right. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (48m 23s): Anyway, no it's walkaway Lockland. Oh nice. And the whiz

Speaker 0 (48m 28s): Really?

Speaker 3 (48m 28s): Yeah. The whiz has a card war Kappa.

Speaker 0 (48m 31s): Yeah. That's cool. That's

Speaker 3 (48m 32s): Amazing. And that, that is,

Speaker 0 (48m 33s): I want the CAPA card. Anyone out there I'll I'll pay good money for the CAPA card.

Speaker 3 (48m 36s): So like the Brisbane lions have Nigel Lapin. Yeah. And then the Brisbane lions have a fantastic one that goes with it and that's Bernie Quinlan. So from the Fitzroy days. Oh wow. So I, I,

Speaker 0 (48m 46s): I like how they do that. Like

Speaker 3 (48m 47s): Five ticks to select for the way they produce it. And the interesting thing this year that I was going to say before is that this release is normally the last release of the year, but they had some production production issues on their series two, which I think is just getting finalized now. So they, I think a fantastic move. Just flip them over. Yeah. Get this one out. Now you, the interest in AFL cards has never been higher. And you know, as I said, five ticks to select for, and even, even the things that they do to, to try and stop bots, if it is bots or, you know, these multiple people ordering multiple boxes, they're doing their best.

They can, you know, they've got a product. They good.

Speaker 0 (49m 24s): Yeah. Good Australia post you suck. Yes. By

Speaker 3 (49m 27s): Boxes. And I know there's a few people in Queensland in the same boat. Yeah. We're all waiting.

Speaker 0 (49m 32s): They're getting their new watches at Australia post. So that's what that one's all

Speaker 3 (49m 35s): About. Oh yeah. That's right.

Speaker 0 (49m 36s): So the other, the other thing I've got to say, and I know we're gonna wrap this up very, very shortly, cuz I need to go back to bed and it's all about me if you haven't realized that today, but actually most days. But the thing is that hobby hangout 21st of August, pugs will be there with us. Rob. You said you're gonna be putting your head in there and showing your face down that way. Flexible. So that means you can actually get a free grade.

Speaker 3 (49m 58s): I'm go. Well, I'm gonna bring my wife. There

Speaker 0 (49m 59s): You go.

Speaker 3 (49m 60s): She's gonna get a

Speaker 0 (50m 0s): Free grade. She got a

Speaker 3 (50m 1s): Free grade. My cat. Yeah,

Speaker 0 (50m 2s): No we don't do cats.

Speaker 3 (50m 4s): Hey cats. I got, I got proof otherwise.

Speaker 0 (50m 7s): Okay. Fair enough.

Speaker 3 (50m 8s): Haven't we cool? Have we? Yeah. Remember the cards are graded for me. Oh yeah. The cat. Yeah. My cat

Speaker 0 (50m 14s): Moving on. Anyway. Hobby, hang out. Really good news. Exciting news is that I'm on stage talking with Tyson back, which would be really good. I, I got to have breakfast with Chris and I did with him in Atlantic city and we've known, we've known each other for a while. Like we do a lot of zoom calls and stuff together. And obviously Tyson was a massive backer of ours when we first launched. And the thing with it is in person. You know, when you, when you've got a vision or what someone looks like or someone is in person completely different, but he's an amazing dude.

And from a, a graphic brain point of view is amazing as a businessman, fucking so much more different than what I thought he'd be. Because during breakfast he told us about the two drops he just

Speaker 4 (50m 60s): Did. Oh man. Hey,

Speaker 0 (51m 2s): First one

Speaker 4 (51m 3s): Iverson. Hey, what on

Speaker 3 (51m 4s): Earth? First one. That's the second one. The second

Speaker 0 (51m 6s): One.

Speaker 3 (51m 7s): Floyd mate. There'd been people walking to local car shop already talking about that. It's

Speaker 0 (51m 12s): Insane mate. It's it's unbelievable. And the thing is he was telling us a bit about what happens behind the scenes and that there's a story around that, that AI, he didn't know whether he was gonna sign and he had to end. And he, he come back to his room and signed all the cards and got paid and all that sort of stuff. And just some of the stuff he's had to do to get these guys. Yeah. To me, makes those cards worth so much more money. Yeah. It's amazing. And I also had the pleasure of showing him, we got the Muhammad Ali set. I got that. The last job we hang out, we got it graded and showed him the graded cards. And he go, oh, they look really good.

And they look really sick in the thing. And he goes, what are we gonna talk about on stage in Melbourne? I got no fucking, and he goes, man, that'll be fun. That like,

Speaker 3 (51m 50s): Sounds like that's the

Speaker 4 (51m 52s): Podcast.

Speaker 0 (51m 53s): Yeah. But that's the thing with it is he's such a good human being. Yep. So different to what you would originally think

Speaker 3 (51m 60s): You should get him awesome. Humans

Speaker 0 (52m 1s): Podcast. Yeah. I would love to I'll do I'll hook that up because

Speaker 3 (52m 3s): I know his background is just ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (52m 5s): Bring a everything down with you and do it in your hotel.

Speaker 0 (52m 8s): We could do that. We

Speaker 3 (52m 9s): Could do because you know, he started doing graphics at NBA games. Didn't he? Hundred

Speaker 0 (52m 12s): Percent. That's where the whole thing started was crazy. He's yeah. But as I say, great human being, he's gonna be on stage at hobby. Hang out. I'll be there as well as a sidekick. Just he's

Speaker 4 (52m 24s): Got question as well.

Speaker 0 (52m 24s): Doesn't he, he does have a booth, but the thing I got most excited about this isn't like, he didn't tell me this, but I read it on the, on the card drop. He'll also be selling one of the drops, which I believe is the Mayweather at hobby hangout. How long is that fucking line gonna be? Oh,

Speaker 4 (52m 42s): Hey, at least we're there before people are in.

Speaker 0 (52m 45s): Yes.

Speaker 4 (52m 46s): Good point setting up and stuff. They'll probably be gone before.

Speaker 0 (52m 49s): Oh, I reckon hundred percent. But is ridiculous. He's selling some live and I don't think he knows what's gonna hit him at hobby hanging out. I don't think so at all. He is the most humble dude you'll ever meet. And like we literally, everyone's sitting there for three hours having breakfast.

Speaker 3 (53m 2s): Just everyone wants to meet him,

Speaker 0 (53m 5s): But doesn't realize who he is like fucking Tyson back. Like it's insane

Speaker 3 (53m 10s): Then. But he crosses over too. Like we all talk about his drops. Yep. Go buy team, coach AFL, AFL. And he's

Speaker 0 (53m 17s): Just done it now. Like project coach there's projects, project,

Speaker 3 (53m 20s): Project. I have bought so many project seventies. It's not funny. The Tyson Beck ones because his they're one are the best

Speaker 0 (53m 27s): Oh mate. It was. But it was such a good experience. Such a nice human being. And everyone actually gets to meet him live at hobby hangout, which I think will be for a lot of people. Like my Gary V thing that happened at, at national, I think it'll be in the same element for a lot of people. So, and

Speaker 3 (53m 40s): To give him a bit of a plug at the moment too, he cuz we're talking about soccer cards before he's actually done a series of soccer cards for tops as well.

Speaker 0 (53m 48s): That messy,

Speaker 3 (53m 49s): That messy is on its well, once they produce him is on its way

Speaker 0 (53m 52s): Way.

Speaker 3 (53m 52s): Yeah. So, and they'll be, they'll be in the local card shop as well. Awesome. So we do, and if people are in the area, wanna see some of his work, come in and have a look at it. Cuz we've got a few of his cards from Patty mills to Tyler hero.

Speaker 0 (54m 3s): Excellent. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (54m 4s): Cool cards.

Speaker 0 (54m 5s): The other, the other thing we, we did just as a final thing, I need to drop some more names here is we met with a lot of players, managers and stuff when we're in the us and on the, and I think I announced this on when, when we first crossed over to you guys when we're over there, when we had dinner and like drinks and stuff with Josh, kitty Dyson Daniels, Josh green, the dude with the mullet, all these guys and suit with the mullet. They're all. But they're all just so humble humans. And they don't realize yet. I think cuz they're so young, they don't realize who they are yet.

Like people just walking up to 'em and getting selfies and that sort of stuff. And I just, just a massive shout out to all their management teams who are keeping them a little bit humble because I think that's a really big part of what this whole thing needs. Whereas then there's others that were just ridiculous to see like Zion Williamson on the side of the court, massive human being. And then there was like Jamant was there and all these other people were there that we didn't go meet. But the thing is just the fact that you're 30 meters away, but every single person to come over and said, oh, can I get a selfie?

No one was not bad. Yeah. And I think to me, all these young kids are coming through now. I think it's something that they should all learn. No matter what you do, whether a YouTuber, whether you are whatever to actually be that humble, I think is one of the best qualities in life. Most

Speaker 3 (55m 22s): Definitely just be a good human.

Speaker 0 (55m 23s): It's what it's all about. My friend. Yep. As the great Ted lasso says

Speaker 3 (55m 28s): The great Ted lasso

Speaker 0 (55m 29s): Be

Speaker 3 (55m 29s): Kind. I had a known, I was gonna, you

Speaker 0 (55m 31s): Could wore Ted lasso shirt,

Speaker 3 (55m 32s): Believe shirt. Yeah. But instead I'm repping li live golf

Speaker 0 (55m 35s): To live golf. How much grief are we gonna get about that at the end of the podcast?

Speaker 3 (55m 38s): I probably dunno. I did probably known I did. I mentioned to Chris last week that I copped a little bit of a spray from an 80 year old bloke in Coles at will. GABA told me that I was ruining golf. I said, mate, you've, it's not me.

Speaker 0 (55m 51s): You're ruining golf. Make it rain. CA my moment is meeting you three, always. Haha.

Speaker 3 (55m 57s): Oh, it's Dave.
