Full show transcript:

Okay, challenge. I have a trick-or-treat bag. And you have a store full of candy options. And I say, Josh, pick my favorite candies. What are you putting in my bag?

This is not hard. I'm putting in Ferrero Rochets.

I'm putting in Toblerones. I'm putting in. Oh. We just saw the best mashup ever.

And we bought it.

Toblerone and Biscoff cookies.

It's so good.

It is so good.

It's a truffle. It's so good. It's Toblerone chocolate wrapped around delicious

cookie butter and crunched up biscoff cookies. It's so good. It's so good.

So uh anyway. So Toblerones, uh Ferrero Rochets. I'm gonna throw in uh Snickers Almonds, Almond Joys. I'm gonna throw in you're okay with a Heath bar.

Yeah. Uh maybe a big hunk, because you have one of those. Charleston shoes.

Um not raisinettes. What are they called? The ones you put in the popcorn. Uh milk buds. Throwing milk duds and I

like raisinettes too.

Okay, I'll throw in some of those. And uh maybe uh like a dark chocolate caramel situation.

You know me so well, Josh.

What's in my bag?

You're gonna get those the good, good and

plenties, not the terrible good and plenties. That's right. You're gonna get biscoff cookies. You're putting cookies in there? Yes.

I didn't put cookies in there. I'd put those chess men cookies in there, you like. Oh, I love it.

And then uh any of the other Peppridge Farms ones, I'd throw all

the pepperage farm cookies are so good.

You love them.

Yeah, and because Fred Meyer sends me coupons, they have me like free ones.

Yeah. I

love it.

Okay, anyway, what

else is in my bag? What else is in your bag? Uh probably not even candy, because you don't really like candy. So I'm gonna throw in some chips. I'm gonna throw in some bags of chips because you prefer salty over sweet.

Yeah.

And maybe a thing of salsa. What?

Yeah. Nice. Or like a white queso.

Yeah.

And then I'll throw in like jerky. You like jerky.

Oh, okay.

I'm pretty mid on jerky.

Oh, okay.

I'm not really into it these days.

Okay.

I think it's stinky. And the stink outweighs the enjoyment.

Some might say that about me.

The stink outweighs the enjoyment. I met her. Stink outweighs the enjoyment. No one would ever say that.

Oh, buddy. Today was a fun show.

Yeah, I think you'll enjoy it. I hope so anyway. Let's kick it off. Here's today's show. Oh, good Friday morning.

Oh, you know it.

Yesterday I was up and at them, ready to go, ready to take on the day.

Today, I'm like, man, I could have slept.

How quickly I transitioned from I could have slept for much for much longer. I'm up and at them. Let's go.

Mm-mm. Yeah. This morning I was like, why can't Josh be the first one awake and get going?

Right.

Why do I have to be the first one awake and get going?

Yeah, it wasn't, it wasn't me.

No, it's never you.

And then yesterday it was. It was a little chilly, and uh my blankets were doing their job, and I took one arm out and I was like, all right, I'll get up. And then I went, mm-mm, that arm goes back inside. And then it was real cozy, and I know.

And this is not good. That's one of my favorite things when you stick out a leg or an arm.

Right.

Make it all cold, and then you tuck it back inside like a mmm. That's the noise I make in my head when I tuck my my limbs back inside the blankets.

Mmm. Anyway. Uh so nonetheless, it's Friday. It is Halloween Eve.

Tomorrow is Halloween. So happy Halloween. Oh, Halloween.

Mm-hmm. Well, that's tomorrow.

Hallowe's Eve.

That's today. That's right. So.

Don't they call today Halloween's Eve?

No, I don't think so.

Okay.

Do they?

I don't know. I don't know anything.

Hallows Eve is uh holy evening, is what it means, referred to as the night of October 31st.

Okay.

Which is the eve of All Saints Day, which is November 1st. Uh, so that is what that is.

So all Hollows Eve, holy evening is

tomorrow.

Got it.

All Saints Day on the first.

Got it. Okay.

That's it Okay. That's all I got.

What else? Let's celebrate this Friday. How?

What do you want to do?

Oh, I'm getting my hair done today.

Is that a big day?

Oh, it's a big day.

Yeah. Uh today's the last day for early voting.

We're gonna head over and do early voting today.

Yes, we are So that's important. Uh, if you're planning on voting early, get it done today. Otherwise, you have to wait until Tuesday.

Yeah.

So lots going on. Happy Friday. Good morning. All right. Uh, I want to paint a picture for you. Uh I want you to think about this. You go to a school board meeting. Uh there's uh a bunch of people there, and uh you as an employee of the school district get called up to the front to unroll a red carpet uh that bears the name of the school district's newest campus. And when you unroll it, it says Marilyn Hampton Elementary School. And you start to cry because you are Marilyn

Hampton.

Let me tell you who Marilyn Hampton is. She is 76 years old. She has worked for the Aubrey Independent School District uh in Texas for nearly 40 years. She did a lot more than just the custodial work that she was responsible for. Uh, she kept the hallway spotless, she bought supplies for kids in need, she tutored students, she worked athletic events, she made it her life's mission to put a smile on every child's face. And she was asked to come and unveil this name of the new elementary school. They named the school after her, uh, which is just incredible. Uh the announcement was a huge surprise to her. She said, Whoever thought a janitor would have a school named after them. My goodness, what an honor. It's an honor that I never thought in my lifetime I would have seen. She didn't go to college, she didn't uh you know, get a degree or anything.

Um, and so she believed for years that she wasn't a success because of those limitations, but she was brought to tears during that surprise board meeting announcement where she unrolled that's

here's the here's the red carpet, and then it's got her name on it. That's really sweet.

Isn't that amazing?

Yes,

so

cool.

That is good news.

Let me tell you the story. I can't stop thinking about it. Uh this morning I go at my routine is to wake up, brush my teeth, wash my face, get dressed, let the dog out. And this morning in the garage, which we cleaned out yesterday, so it looks quite nice.

Yeah, cleaner for sure.

Um, put some stuff away. There was a little bug, like a stink bug right by the door, flipped over, and his little legs were kicking, like was trying to turn himself over. And I said, Luna, come look at this bug. And she was freaked out by the bug. I thought she would try to eat it, but she kind of backed away from it.

Because it had those crazy legs.

Yeah, she was like, I don't like it. I'm afraid of it. And then I couldn't even get her to go outside because of the bug.

I'm afraid of the bug.

So I flipped the bug over.

Yeah.

And the bug's standing there, like, now what do I do? I've been working on to try to flip myself over for hours.

Yeah, I didn't have a plan.

So then I see the broom in the dustpan there. So I grabbed that, scoop them up in the dustpan, and I throw them outside.

Okay.

Let out the dog. Go inside. Now, as I'm doing some other stuff, and then I go to let back in the dog, I go, where did I throw that bug?

Yeah.

And I look around. The bug is trapped head first into a crack in the side in the concrete.

You're kidding me. What is wrong with this bug?

No. So then I feel really bad. And so I'm trying with a stick to kind of get the bug out because I go, I can't, I can't leave you stuck head first in this.

This bug

crack.

This bug is having a day.

I know. I know. And so then I was like, I can't keep doing this. I'm gonna be late. Like he is wedged in there. I'm gonna be late for work.

Head first.

Head first. His his little behind is sticking up and he's kicking his feet. Like, I don't know how to get out of this crack.

I was upside down for so long. I don't know what upside right is.

I know.

And so no, I feel very bad because it's that was not my intention with the bug. I

didn't

well, he did that himself. You didn't put him in there.

You don't think when I threw him out, he landed upside down in the crack.

No, I don't think he landed in the crack. I think it's dark outside, and you went for a stroll and fell in the hole. I think that's what happened.

Oh no.

I think that bug needs to get it together.

I really did try. I mean, I could have tried harder, but like I got a stick, and I was trying to

like I'm gonna imagine if you go back and look later today, he's not gonna be there.

Where's he gonna be?

He'll figure it out.

I feel bad. I feel bad for that little bug.

This little beetle's ruining your day.

Well, the whole way to work, I was like, I should have tried harder to get that bug out of that crack.

You should have. I mean, you could have left him water and a little sugar or something. I don't know what he needs.

Can't reach it. Said's in the hole.

Like down there by him.

But he can't reach it. His head was in the hole.

In the hole, I'm saying. Put it down there so he can be like, all right. At least I can have a little bit of recharge.

Oh, poor bug. Sorry, buddy. I did try to help you.

And if you go back and he's still there, what are you gonna do?

I'll try and get him out.

Okay.

Unless he's stopped moving.

Well, he probably might be asleep. He's just sleeping. Bugs do that from time to time. They just sleep.

They just have a little slumber upside down with their head in a crack. Okay.

That bug. What a thing.

I know.

You don't have time to be dealing with bugs in the morning.

I did not. I was like, I gotta be, I gotta go. I gotta, I'm gonna be late.

Was the dog afraid of the bug coming back in?

She didn't even notice.

Okay. She forgot about it.

She just ran inside and was like, Where's my food?

Yeah, she does that every morning.

We have a a party to go to tonight, a Halloween party. Yeah.

And we're gonna be dressing up, and there is a costume contest. That's right. There usually is.

We asked our son.

Yeah.

If he was gonna be dressing up, and he said, I don't know. I don't I don't really know what to go as. We bought him an expensive blow up frog costume last year.

Yeah, he's

worn it like twice. It's been a years ago. years, yeah. And we were like, do you want to wear that? And he was like, no, because I usually wear that for like five minutes to get the laugh, and then it's over. And I went, yeah, you're right. But those inflatable costumes are pricey. Yeah.

And he's had it for a couple of years.

He could still wear it. He just needs to put it on and

walk around town.

He won't.

No, but I didn't get the laugh, you know.

So then I said, Well, what? Like, we've got a couple of different ideas in our costume bin, and he hated all of them. And I said, Well, I gotta go to Zerker's today to get a beret. Our daughter is going to be um Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde.

Right.

I said, I gotta go find a beret for her. I can go find you something there. And he goes, What I really think would be funny was is to go as this guy. And I go, that is hilarious.

It is.

You don't want to spoil it, right? Well, I kind of do. Like, we gotta tell everybody.

I mean, uh, let's just let's just say that his choice of costume has a very distinct look. And one of the really important parts is a mustache.

Yeah. And he was like, I don't know where I'm gonna find a mustache at this time of night.

Was kind of the attitude.

And he was like, Oh, I think that's like, you worry about the rest of the look. The mustache is that'll take care of itself. All of the parts are easy, honestly. We'll just tell people. We'll just tell him.

Where is he gonna find the uh the shirt?

The Kansas City Chief shirt.

I'm sorry. Anywhere.

They're one of the top.

Uh no, but it's

gotta have the right look. I understand. All he needs is a is a like a big puffy coat. He's going as Andy Reed. Did I say that?

No.

The Kansas City coach.

Spoiled it. Well shame.

We can't just talk about it and not actually say what it is.

Okay, I'm just looking. All he needs is like a red

polo.

That's what I'm saying. That's gonna be tough to find it.

No, it's not gonna be. This will be so easy. Or he could wear like a suit. Here's him with a suit. He just needs to oh gross. Do I have to buy Kansas City chief gear?

That's what I that's what he said. And then he was like, Well, then we could have a burning ceremony afterward. And you were like, no, I'm not gonna spend money just to burn it.

Hmm. Okay. I might have changed my mind about this. This might be kind of expensive once we get into the weeds of it. Once we get into the reads of it. Get it.

Yeah, I get it. I got it.

It's okay. We can find this. We can do this. I just don't want to spend a bunch of money. Oh, do we have like a headset that he could wear?

We can figure that out.

The mustache is the most crucial part. Andy Reed mustache.

Yeah.

Maybe he could just go, says Andy Reed's mustache.

The whole thing. Just a big hairy mustache. Who are you? I'm Andy Reed's mustache. It's a great costume. And I hope we can get it put together for him like in 10 minutes, because it's

gonna

he's got to do it tonight.

Inexpensively.

I don't want to spend a bunch of money on it. Right. Correct.

The Kansas City Chiefs gear is gonna be the most expensive part and gross. He can't bring that into my house.

You're gonna be okay.

We're not chief fans in this house.

All right. No. No homes. No Kelsey.

Exactly. Those are the only two players that anybody ever knows.

I mean, other people know other players.

Who?

There's nobody. Settle down. There are. And then Coach Reed. No. Hey, don't forget tomorrow is pet oh ween at Cal Ranch. Uh your local Cal Ranch store, you can stop by. It's a pet costume contest happening from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. You can bring your costumed pet. And I'm not talking just dogs and cats. They've got rabbits and chickens in costumes here, too.

I really want somebody to bring like a bearded dragon.

Something crazy.

Or like a snake. Yeah.

Some bat wings. Fun.

Just Don't let the snake near the chickens. Right.

You know what I mean?

I know what you mean.

Yeah. Keep this pet separate. Right. Pet Oween pet costume contest happening uh again tomorrow, 10 a.m. to 2 at your local cow ranch. You can uh also support uh local animal shelters. There'll be uh ways you can make donations and uh winners are gonna get uh gift cards and you could enter to win a year's worth of pet food or animal feed from neutrino, which is pretty great. Uh that's all happening at your local cow ranch. So wherever your local cow ranch is, go with your costume pet and enter to win that contest. Uh wins the judging at one.

At one.

Judging's at one, but it's open ten to two. There you go. So Peto Ween at Cal Ranch.

Nice.

Uh you know, dress up your dress up your pet.

Dress up your uh Jack Russell as a chicken. They love it.

They walk totally normal in costume. They don't freak out and like, I don't know what's wrong with our dog. You put anything on her, including her harness to take her for a walk.

Uh, and she gets into low rider mode. And I don't know why. Like something's touching my back. I don't know what it is. It's so funny. Anyway, enjoy Pet O Ween with Cal Ranch. So right next door to the studio is uh an office. And I had this as my office for

For a time.

It felt like about two weeks. Because I had a different office when I started here uh what, five years ago or so. Uh and as a matter of fact, when we come back on Monday, I will have been here for over five years. Isn't that crazy?

That's insane.

That is absolutely crazy how fast time goes. I it feels like I just started over here. But anyway, uh so I will be uh moving back into this office space uh very soon. Uh we've cleared out the room. Uh I'm planning on doing some paint. Uh, we've been talking about that. I do like your sage green idea. I just haven't had a chance to go look, but I think that's a good choice.

I think that is also a good choice.

So I I'm I'm looking forward to uh to trying out some different colors in there and seeing what works. Getting some paint on the walls. Um, I did have spackle I was gonna bring in. I forgot.

It was all yeah,

I know. It

was all in

your pile of like it's sitting at home. I I left the house and I was like, I know I forgot something. That's what it was. Anyway, I had a million things going through my brain this morning. But that's uh that's gonna be a nice space.

Well, I walked in this morning, and uh from the time I left work yesterday and the time I arrived this morning. Someone went ahead and set up a desk in there, which I think is so nice. I just wish it was a little bigger. Because that thing isn't even four feet wide. It's the tiniest desk. It barely fits a chair underneath it. And it's real short.

You rolled out your little mouse pad.

Well, your mouse pad is like I'm Oh, it hangs over the edges of it. It's my mouse pad is like, yeah, it's a tabletop mouse area, because I hate getting to the edge of the mouse pad, picking up the mouse and moving back. So I've got this big mouse pad that goes underneath my keyboard and everything. And so I laid that out there and it like falls over the edges. Uh, and I put my mouse and my little uh my surface up there so I could get to work. And I got a little notepad and a pen. So it's a nice setup. I appreciate that they put a desk in there.

Tiniest little desk.

Yeah. You

are I didn't even notice it because we have to walk past it to get to the studio. Right. And you said, Did you see my baby desk?

Yeah.

I said, no. It's

ridiculous.

We had to go take a tour.

Yeah. Your

teeny tiny baby desk.

I really appreciate the effort though. Somebody had to carry that and put that in there for me. And that's that's a real nice thing they did. It looks like it's part of a desk. Like there's a there's where's the rest of the desk? This is just the end piece.

It's the desk that they put for interns in the closet.

Yeah, it's terrible.

They're like, uh, this will do.

You can work on here. All you need is a phone. All you're doing is making cold calls. So we got you everything you need a phone and a notepad. Get to work.

Yeah, go make us some coffee.

That's a crazy. Anyway, I appreciate it though. I just wish it was a bigger desk.

Well, okay, so you did have, we were talking about this last night. You did have an office.

Yeah. For

years

and years at the end. and years. And I had it fully furnished.

You had You had a couch, you had a

chair, you had a lamp, and then a bookshelf, all that stuff.

Former former bosses said, no, we we need this space.

Right.

And we got rid of a lot of that furniture. And so last night you're just.

Well, because I wasn't storing it at the house.

It'd been sitting around forever. And I was like, this is too bad. But here's the thing. You were like, I don't have any furniture

now because the lamp we incorporated into our basement.

Basement. Yeah, it's now part of our like and now I have to buy a new lamp for an office. We buy a new lamp for the basement.

That's fine. Do you think we would like a different lamp there?

Maybe we could look into this.

That's that's a thought I hadn't uh done. I hadn't had that thought. I didn't think, oh, I need to buy a new lamp for the house and bring the lamp back to work. I thought now I gotta buy a new lamp for the office.

No.

That's a good idea. get the new stuff? The house should get the new. Well, I would I mean that was a budget lamp, so you're right. We could get a nicer lamp for the basement.

Yeah.

And then I could bring that lamp back.

Yeah.

I like what you're thinking. This is a good thought. Good job.

Thank you. Also, I have a chair that I bought for my sewing machine table.

You

don't like that chair? I don't like that chair. It's not good for sewing.

I would love to bring that chair.

You can absolutely have that chair.

I would bring I wouldn't use that as my desk chair,

but I would bring that in as my hey, you want to sit and have a chat in my office chair.

You can absolutely like that chair.

Because I don't it's not I like that chair, but it's not good for sewing.

So anytime I have to sew, I have to move it out of the way. Okay, this look at we've got a lamp and a guest chair to go with my baby desk.

You can't take the lamp until we replace the lamp.

What about your chair?

You can take the chair. You can take it right now.

Whoa.

But I do have to find a new chair because I

do need

a new

chair. I found the greatest chair yesterday. I didn't even know they made a chair with heat and massage and what is called responsive active lumbar. So you know the lumbar part of your

back where the chair pushes in on your spine. Yes.

It it engages when you're sitting up, so it helps your posture when you're working. But then when you push the chair back into recline position, that lumbar releases and goes soft so you can sit back and relax into the chair. It's the best thing I've ever sat in.

I need that.

I want that chair so bad with the built-in heat and massage.

Are you kidding me? Is it an office chair?

Yes.

Oh, lame. I need something.

Oh, lame. That's exactly where I want it. I sit, I'm gonna sit in it for hours. And I want that massage and that heat and that active responsive lumbar.

Was it expensive?

I bet you expensive. Yes, it was. Want to guess how much that chair costs?

No. How much?

$300.

Get out of here.

$300 for a chair.

That's insane.

That's crazy. Awesome, though. It's awesome.

I need something for my neck when I'm just looking at my kitchen.

And it has an adjustable headrest so you can raise it up to have your head laid back or push it down to not have your head laid back.

It's

amazing.

We're not buying that.

Well, I know. I I want uh someone to buy that chair for me. I'm looking for uh GoFundMe for my office.

Put it in the budget. I need a big boy desk and a $300 chair. No, you're not gonna get that.

I know. I got an old, the oldest office chair we have in the building and a baby desk.

That's what's in that. in there. What happened to your desk you used to have?

Uh don't know.

Oh. And the chair you used.

Listen, the there's some chairs around. I just don't like them. Oh. They're really stiff.

They're not, they're not comfortable. They're terrible to sit in all day.

They're really not comfortable. And uh when I could have the like Cadillac of chairs, you know what I mean? Like that's a nice chair.

Yeah, for $300.

I know. I don't know. You pay it, you pay a price for it.

Well,

I'm excited for you to have an office again. Uh yeah. Me too. Once it all comes together.

Two thumbs up.

For an office. Two thumbs up for an office.

Okay, we're gonna play a game.

All right. Do I need a pen and paper?

You do not. Uh this is called uh real or fake horror movie. I'm gonna give you the name of a horror movie, and you're gonna tell me whether or not you think it's real or fake.

Let me get some spooky music.

Oh yeah, get some spooky music.

All right, here we go.

Okay.

Real or fake horror movie.

Thanks killing.

Thanks killing. I think is fake.

It's real.

No way.

Thanksgiving is a real one. It's about a murderous turkey who terrorizes college students.

No way. No way.

It came out in 2008.

Yeah, should not have.

The refrigerator of doom.

Refrigerator of doom sounds fake.

That is fake.

Okay.

Killer sofa.

That's probably real.

It is real. Came in out in 2019. It's about a sofa that kills people.

No, I figured as much.

Attack of the killer donuts.

Not real.

Real.

No way.

Yes. My grandma is a werewolf. Real. Fake.

No way. That would be a great movie. Way better than the donut one.

Llama Geddon.

Llama Geddon.

Yes.

From the people that brought you Shark NAT. I

don't know.

Llama Geddon.

Yes.

Fake.

Real.

No way.

An evil alien llama attacks a party. The crawling eye.

Fake.

That's real.

Why? Every one of these I get wrong.

Night of the living bread.

Okay, that's funny. Uh, because it it'd be a mock on something. We haven't had a fake one in a little while. It's fake.

It's fake.

Yeah.

Slothher house.

Slothher house? Sounds like a slow movie.

Real. It is real.

Why? A seemingly adorable sloth becomes a killer. You can outrun him.

Santa Jaws.

What is that?

Fake. Real.

No.

The curse of the haunted hot tub.

The curse of the haunted hot tub. Fake.

Fake, yep. The ginger, the ginger dead man.

Real. Why

not? Why? These are terrible. They're just making names up. That is a killer gingerbread cookie that seeks revenge.

It comes alive. Not my gum drop buttons.

And last one, real or fake. Poultry geist.

Poultry guy. Real.

It is real.

What's with the chicken movies?

Zombie chickens, fast food, and a horror musical. That one isn't.

It's a musical. Oh, great.

I didn't keep track. I don't know how much.

I did terribly.

Okay. You did do terribly.

Hey. You don't have to agree. Sorry.

Well, I kind of want to watch some of these.

I don't.

When we had our friends who moved to Boiseed that lived

here, we were watching some really terrible. Terrible, terrible, scary movies. They were awful. Like j I mean, it's right along with this.

Oh, yeah. A couch that murders people. And you're like, great.

So good.

I know.

They were terrible actors. They were it was terrible effects.

The whole time we're watching it, I'm like, why aren't we just watching movies that we actually enjoy?

Right.

It was fun. It was kind of fun.

I mean, it was. We had a good laugh.

We didn't. But it was a good chuckle. But it was not the greatest time.

We could have had a better time.

Well, thank you for that, Kate. Congrats.

For doing so terribly.

Yeah, you did bad.

Hey.

It's all right.

Oh, man. This place. Where do we work?

I don't know. Um, okay, I'm going to get my hair done today. It's a big exciting day. Yes. Because I love going to get my hair done. I go to see my hair pist.

Yes, you're going to herapy.

Heropy.

Uh huh.

And I love my hairdresser.

Right. And uh, it's always a great time when I go to see her because I feel good. I look good. Okay.

We laugh. We cry sometimes. We've done that. Um, but today I'm going back to the color red.

Yeah. How now which red? It's like because for a while you existed in this space of like a purple red.

Yes, correct. Are

you going to

be able to do that? I'm going like a brown. It's like an auburn.

Like a brownish red. Okay.

So my natural hair color is what people would describe as a strawberry blonde. And I haven't seen that color on my head since have you even seen my natural hair color.

You didn't start coloring your hair until well after we were together.

Okay.

Like you had just natural hair color when we met in our twenties.

Do you miss that hair color?

I couldn't even tell you what it was like. I think I think we met and you're like, I'm gonna have dark hair. I don't know when you started dyeing your hair.

I don't remember either. You just once you committed, you didn't stop. No, because you have to just keep going, I think. So I've been I've been like a red, I've been a black, I've been

like a purple, yeah.

Like a darkish blackish purple.

Yeah, you did uh the short pixie kind of hair, but it didn't ever make it to platinum. It made it to bleach blonde.

It was bad. That was probably the worst one.

You didn't like that.

No, it washed out my skin tone totally. I was not a fan.

Okay.

What has been your favorite hair color?

For who? On me. Green's cool. Like, what do you mean? What's your favorite hair color? Um I

like the

darker, I like the darker colors on me because I think it works well with my eyes and my skin tone. Oh, yeah. Because I have very fair skin. Okay.

So I like the darker. I like the black hair, but it gets it's so hard to maintain. Right.

And you don't appreciate the grays yet.

It's not that I I don't appreciate the grays. It's the it's the roots, it's the brown roots that kind of poke out on the top. And so I'm trying to go to like more of a brownish undertone

to kind of let that grow out a little bit better. Does that make sense? Sure.

Yeah.

Yeah. So you're in for a pretty long time.

It's gonna be a long day. There's lots of processing and bleaching

and yeah, to lighten what you've got now to where you can then color it to where you want to be. Is that the whole thing?

Correct.

Because you have to go lighter. So you're gonna go back toward that bleach blonde before you can go forward to the darker color.

I think so. I don't know.

Well, that's gonna be a fun little uh you're gonna do like a here's my hair now.

Steps.

Yeah,

it'd be interesting to see. I could. Yeah. She, my hairdresser said it's gonna take like four to four and a half hours. I'm gonna be there for a long time.

Wow.

I know it. I know I had to take the whole day off of work

to do this, huh?

Yeah.

Wow. Well, I'm excited for you. Are you gonna do a style as well?

Oh, yeah.

Like uh, are you uh and you're doing a cut, so are you changing the the length?

Just

or just trimming?

Just trimming, because I like the length.

So you're doing the trim, the color, and a style.

Yes,

and that costs $7,000.

It costs a lot of money.

Okay, cool.

This is why you can't buy a new office chair.

Because I'm gonna take all of the money. Oh, okay. All right. All right.

Well hey, you bought a boat.

Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, settle down. Settle down.

I'm just saying, same.

It's not the same. It is not the same.

Why isn't it the same?

A boat?

Well, yeah,

you're the same as my hair. It's not the same.

Anyway,

well, it's exciting.

Yeah, once I get it done, I'm gonna post some pictures of like all of the different hair colors that I've had, and then people

can even the blonde one,

even the blonde one.

Wow, you don't claim that blonde one. I don't like it. Well, and I don't like it short. It was like a lot of cut. You thought it made your head look all round.

I didn't like the cut. I didn't like the color. I didn't like my hair short.

One time you had a mullet haircut.

Yeah, I've had a lot of bad haircuts.

Do you have a picture of that mullet haircut? Which one? The one that looked like you're in an 80s band.

No. I did have there was one time I was like, I'm gonna be so edgy, and I went to get an asymmetrical.

I remember that. And I cried and cried in the parking lot. It was horrible. Because was that like uh like a Kate Goslin type asymmetrical haircut?

Ew.

You weren't doing the Karen?

No, it was not that

with the you know, the uh the upcut cut

with the shave on the back. You

know the one.

I do. It was not it.

Okay. Ugh.

I've had uh sometimes I look back at pictures and I go, oh no.

Why

did somebody tell me I looked that bad?

Why would anyone ever say that?

Like, oh, you made a bad choice. What are you gonna do? I don't know.

You're gonna go, like if somebody ever said that, like, what if you don't know?

You should have said that.

What am I gonna say?

You should have said, I don't really like that haircut on you.

No, I like being married, so no, not saying that. Plus, you look great no matter what.

Get out. If I say to you, give me some bands that you consider dad rock.

Nickelback.

Okay.

Creed.

Okay.

Uh and those kind of types of bands.

I would have said things like Journey, Rio, Speed Wagon.

No, okay. I was thinking like dad's right now. I think when you start naming like Kansas, Boston, Deep Purple, ACDC, Tom Petty, etc. Like those are my dad's bands, C C R.

Yeah, you have to those are my grandpa bands now. You have a younger dad than I do.

So those are not my dad. My dad's bands are like Marty Robbins. Right.

And Johnny Horton.

Who now? Is that the place in Canada where you get a coffee?

Johnny Horton did.

That's Tim Hortons.

Yes. It's

a funny joke.

Johnny Horton

did

Canada. North. To Alaska. No, that might be Marty Robbins. Hold on.

I don't know.

No, Johnny Horton didn't. Oh, so good.

He's

North to Alaska. Okay.

But go North, the Russia zone. Okay. No, I don't know.

No, we're gonna listen to that.

Are we? Yes. Okay.

I like that song. My dad used to listen to that.

All right.

All the time. Okay.

Okay.

Well, there's been a change.

I know there has, and I don't like it.

No. Because it's the music that we listen to.

It's gonna be offspring, Nirvana.

Yes. It's gonna be all the 90s. Green stuff. I know. That's the fighters.

I I know.

Blink 182.

I know. No, that's my dad's band.

That's crazy.

I know. This is all the stuff I listened to in high school.

I know. Still do. And now it's dad's dad's music. And they're still pumping out good music.

For dads.

And moms.

Right.

Cool moms.

Sure.

Anyway.

Right.

I've I still blast Weezer in my car on the daily.

On the daily.

They're one of my faves.

Saying on the daily really fits in with this conversation. Way to go, bud. On the daily.

And here's the other thing. These bands are still selling out

Oh, yeah.

major venues. Oh, absolutely. So how can they be dad rock if they're still making new music?

Because we love it. And there's a lot of us. Yeah.

And we like to go to shows.

Yeah. I

don't like it. My music is cool.

It is. For dads.

And cool moms.

Right. On the daily.

Listen, my playlist has Johnny Horton and Dad Rock in it.

That's how cool I am. You are a very eclectic lady. You have your playlist is hard to listen to.

Why?

It's not that it's hard to listen to. That's not fair. It's hard for me to listen to.

Why?

But it's just not for me. It's not.

That's all you have this

giant one singular playlist that

is

everything you like.

Yeah.

And then you get mad when it's like, I've already heard this song in the past three weeks. I need a different one. And it's like, dude, you've got one bucket with all your music in it.

Yeah.

I have several playlists. One of them is called Backpacks and Waiters. That one, the kids love.

That one will put you to sleep in a minute.

That one is one of my favorite playlists. It's the one that is all my outdoorsy music that I like. It's got a, you know, it's got good music in there.

Beck cannot stand your music. Beck thinks that playlist in particular has every singer that just needs to clear his throat.

Yeah, I know. It's like, once you get a drink of water, dude. So my playlist is hard for him to listen to, and I get it. I do.

I want to ask them, would you rather listen to my playlist or dad's playlist?

They're gonna say yours. They are gonna say mine. Because yours is a giant bucket of music.

Sometimes I even surprise the kids.

Yeah.

And they'll go, you have this on your playlist?

I go, uh yeah. Uh yeah. Yeah, on the daily.

Like come

on.

Don't even question how cool I am.

But you have no categorization whatsoever.

And it's all over the place. Just yesterday it was I went from the Everly Brothers was in there.

Yeah.

And then it was Missy Elliott.

Right. Of course. Back to back. See, it makes no sense.

It makes all the sense because it's me.

It is you. That's why I said you love it. It's your bucket of music, but it is not easy to listen to for everybody else. Like when you're cleaning the house and you're like, play music, and the the little speaker starts playing out stuff, and it's like, all right, I can I can listen to this song, and then the next song comes on and you're like, Skip! Skip. You're yelling at the thing. You're like, I've heard this song too many times. Skip.

But also I have to be in the right mood for certain songs.

Sure.

So the other day when it was raining, and I had all these like upbeat fun songs. I went, no, it's a rainy day kind of playlist.

Right. So you should have a rainy day playlist.

No, because I want to listen to those rainy day songs on sunny days, too. It just depends on my mood. Get over it.

How many songs are in that playlist?

I don't even know. Let me look. I gotta get rid of some because there's some on there that I go, oh, I don't like this song anymore. Okay, let's see.

I guarantee this thing is it's it's hundreds, if not over a thousand.

How can you tell? Uh where does it tell you?

Uh it it'll tell you how many songs are in there. I think it just says it like at the top.

Mine doesn't. I don't know.

Like if you go to your library and then you go to playlist.

This is fun.

I like I like when we do technology on the radio. But anyway, you go to playlists.

Okay, I found it. Do you want to take a guess?

Oh, it's oh, it's gotta be over a thousand.

It is over a thousand.

Yeah.

It's two thousand sixty-white.

Are you kidding me?

No, why is that?

Two thousand songs, two thousand and sixty-one songs in one playlist.

Yeah.

That's you're a maniac.

You're a maniac. That's the best kind of playlist.

So with no organization. Just I like it.

Sometimes, yeah. Here's a one Republican to a Led Zeppelin.

Why not?

Because I just like it. Stop and stare by one republic,

followed by Fool in the Rain by Zepp. Tell

me I'm not cool. I didn't say you weren't cool. But you got 2,000 songs in one bucket, and you just hit go. Yeah, who wants to come on a drive with me? Raise your hand.

You're solo.

Which is the way you like it. Do you like it solo because then you can listen to the music that you want to listen to? Loud. And I can sing along. And when I get the words wrong, nobody's there to judge.

So I have a playlist of 23 songs, 22 songs, 56 songs, 11, 14, 20, 18, 17.

Who wants to ride with Josh?

And then what I do is I I find a band that I like and I hit start mix, and then I get exposed to new stuff I haven't heard.

I've done I do that before.

I've done that before.

Come on and ride with me. I'm a lot of fun in the car. But you can't judge. You can't say anything about

my and don't sing the wrong words because that made you upset too.

No, no, no.

Don't ruin this song for me.

I sing the wrong words all the time. You're not allowed to say anything when you ride in the car with me and I'm singing. No, no mentions of my bad notes. The only thing you can do is sing along too. Quieter than I am.

All right.

Okay. I have another game for us.

All right. Do I need a pen and paper?

No.

You never.

Okay. I'm going to give you a couple of scenarios, and you're going to tell me how you're going to survive this haunted experience.

Okay. Okay.

You're trapped in a zombie field Walmart overnight.

Oh.

How do you expect it?

It used to be open 24 hours, so I would have just walked out the door.

No, you can't.

How do I escape now? Yeah. How do you escape? Say you're you're shopping. Okay. All of a sudden, lights go out,

door shut,

locked, you can't get out.

Everyone around you turns into zombies. Everybody that's there shopping.

Okay.

Instant zombie.

All right. Well, first thing I gotta do is get to the uh the the like outdoor section. Because that's where I'm gonna find weapon.

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

And I need weapon right away. Gotta be able to fight. So that's gonna be challenge one is getting to weapon. Challenge two is getting uh enough separation between myself and them to to be able to uh formulate a bigger plan. What

weapon

are survivor for. Well, they sell guns and ammo there. They also have machete, which is close range. Uh but that's that's part of it. And then uh and then I'm gonna have to um from there there I'm gonna have to like figure out how to get out. Now garden center feels uh bottleneck-y and has access to outside.

So no access.

Listen, it's closed. I get it. But if I head toward garden center, then I'm gonna there's one door into garden center, so I can forward fortify that area, right? I can I can really plus grills in big boxes so I can

barricade I can get myself a little bit of time, plus I have outside access here. Then I'm gonna be able to uh

uh find my way out of garden center to freedom.

That's that's smart. Smart.

What are you doing?

No, this isn't that that sounds all good. I like your plan.

Oh, do you? Did you have a plan?

No, I have no

plan.

Okay. Next one.

Oh, there's more.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. A vampire is chasing you, but you're wearing roller skates. You would actually Oh, I'm fast.

later, dude. But you're on you're really good at roller blades. Oh, I can do skates as well.

I'm out. I'm out of here. Yeah, you're pretty good.

I mean, he's gonna have to turn to a bat and catch me, but I'm also uh quick with turns.

You are pretty good.

You can wily coyote this thing.

Where are you gonna go? Where are you skating off to?

Uh wherever the sunlight is.

Oh, smart.

Yeah. Are

you going for real sunlight or fake sunlight?

Well, I want real so that I can end this thing. That's it. So I'm skating to real sunshine.

Next. You're surrounded by zombies, and your only weapon is a pool noodle.

Okay.

What do you do? What do you do?

What do you do?

Bob quiz. What do you do?

Find somewhere to barricade myself. That's it. I got nothing to do with that noodle. That noodle's pointless. I'm dropping the noodle and I'm getting away from there. There's nothing to do with that.

Okay. Those are the only scenarios I had.

Oh, those are plenty.

Good job.

Thanks.

It was fun.

I might was it. I might survive. We'll see. This is sure to be one of my favorite things we have ever done on the radio to date.

I'm not doing this.

Yes, you are. I will play along, but you have to play this game. And I am so excited that you are

the one who brought this game.

Go ahead.

You have to go first.

No, no, no.

Yes, yes, yes.

No, no, no. Because I need to hear it. I know.

And that is why you have to go first. This is a sound effects game you have brought to the table. It all it says on the notes here is recreate that spooky sound. And here's one thing I know to be true about you.

You're good.

Shut up.

You're so good at sound effects. You are you hear it in your head, and then you process it, and then you make the sound, and it's good.

And so get out.

So I am so excited for a sound effects game.

No, you're gonna do the sound effects game.

I'm gonna

listen to you do it, and then I'll do it. No, you're doing it first.

And then I'm gonna hear how you do it. Here's what I want you to do is look at your long list of sound effects.

One, two, three, four, five, six, seven.

Pick your favorite that you think is the same.

think you can do. Probably the one I think I can do. Okay.

And let's start there.

All right. The creaking door.

It It's it didn't move very far. It only moved a little bit.

Okay, your turn.

So I like uh like to think of the room that it's in. And to see it in my head. So I visualize like a big door, and you you hit the little knob and you and then you go to open it, and it

goes

like that. See, you're so good. But you gotta just paint the picture in your mind.

I know, Josh. I can hear the sounds in my head.

You did a great creaky door.

Yeah, it just went quick. That's the easy one.

It was just a small door. Okay, what's the next one?

Howling wind.

Howling wind.

Ooh. Yeah.

Yes. It had a howl in it. It did. It did. Like that.

Is that yours?

That's a howling wind.

Yeah. Because you'd hear it from inside. It'd be distant. You'd be like, that wind is whipping out there. It's howling wind.

Yeah. That's

a good one.

It's the best I got. Footsteps.

I can't do this one. You have to do this one first.

So I can hear it. Because I can't even hear her. Think about how a shoe works. Does it make one noise or two? One shoe. Does it make one noise or two?

It makes two.

Because the heel and then the toe.

And then the toe.

So he'll toe, heeltoe.

Okay. This one's gonna wear clicky clacks.

Oh, good. Clicky clack.

Yeah.

Kind of. Kind of.

I know I took the easy way out.

That's kind of go.

You do yours.

That's more horse, isn't it?

That's a that's a gallop. Could be the headless horseman.

Like that.

It's

a fast horse. I don't know.

That one's a very tough one. Yeah. Okay. Yeah.

Footsteps is a hard noise to make with your mouth. I can make it great with my feet.

Oh, can you?

Yeah.

Chains rattling.

Another really tough one.

This one's hard. I don't even know how to even attempt this one.

I would actually just say the word jangle a lot. Jangle jangle jangle jangle jangle. That's chains. Jingle jangle jangle jangle.

No, it's like a like a metal sound.

Yeah, make a metal sound with your mouth. That's why I said jangle a bunch. Yeah, it's not that. That's like static TV.

Okay. A bubbling cauldron.

Okay, good.

No.

That's a kind of a cat.

Yeah. You do it.

Like that.

That was good. That was really good. A wolf howl.

Mm-hmm.

A woo.

Yes. I don't need to do one. You did the perfect one.

Get out. You're fired.

Yours was so

good.

I don't need to do a wolf. So there I am, standing in my waiters in the water, fishing, moving around, casting, reeling it in, trying to catch fish. And I look over uh at the bank behind me, and there's something kind of catches my eye, and I go, what is that? And I wander over, and it's this lonely tennis ball.

And I'm nowhere near a walking path, but I'm downstream from where dogs hang out and stuff. And so I'm like, somebody lost this ball. And it probably floated all the way down the river to where I'm fishing. And I thought, man, I I better save this ball. And it was just kind of sitting there in the grass, you know. So I under a tree. Like it's it's been there for who knows how long. So I picked it up and I put it in my fishing bag, and then I brought it home. And I have to give it to the dog. Okay. Because she needs that ball.

Why does she need that ball?

She's uh she kind of likes tennis balls.

She does. She has a lot of tennis balls.

Right. But this one

is a lucky one.

Might be a lucky magic one, because I found it on the side of a river.

What if you bring it home and she doesn't want anything to do with it?

I'm very curious to see what happens. I forgot I had it until this morning, and I remembered I got that tennis ball. I gotta give that to the dog. I'm curious to see what she's gonna do with a randomly found magic. I mean, it found me. I'm calling it magic because it found me. It said, You need to take me to your

dog.

Yeah. There's nothing else on that bank. Just rocks, some sticks, trees, grass, normal stuff you'd see on the side of a river. And that tennis ball.

And that tennis ball.

So I will I'm I'm gonna I got it for the dog.

Cute, Josh.

Yeah. And we're gonna see. I hope she's grateful. I found it.

You know, she has a basket of toys.

Yeah.

And

in the house.

Usually at the end of the day, there's a lot of those toys that are taken out. And so I have to clean up her room at the

end of the day.

And she gets really mad when I start to pick up her toys and put them away. She's like, what are you doing? had these out for a reason. I purposely put that there.

Right.

Like last night she put her blanket in the middle of the floor, not on her bed.

She was like, no, I'm sleeping here. And we were like, okay. Do whatever you want. In the middle of the walkway. Like, this is where I'm gonna sleep tonight.

She was so mad at me because I she has a little peanut butter lick pad. And I picked it up last night, and she was like, Don't you dare touch that. She was growling at me. She was like, You better not put that away. I picked it up and I threw it, and she just looked at me like, I can't believe you just did that.

Yeah, why'd you put that back in my basket? Now I have to go get that to lick it later. We have uh cycled toys, so there's a box of uh tennis balls and other toys and stuff in the garage, and we'll swap them out.

She thinks she gets new toys every time we do it. We go, look,

new toys.

Not always. Sometimes she looks at her old toys and she goes, uh, I I didn't play with this before. I'm not playing with this now. Why'd you bring it up?

Then maybe we can get rid of that.

Let's do it.

She's got a lot of toys.

She does. So maybe that's a good plan to just be like, smell these toys. Do you like it? We're getting rid of it.

One at a time.

Yes.

Who's doing that?

The kids.

Yeah, that sounds like a fun project for the kids. Here, guys. Go ahead and see if the dog wants to keep this toy.

Well, I'm excited to give her the river magic river tennis ball.

I think it'll be fun to see.

What do you think it smells like?

River.

And dog.

Probably. Maybe. I don't know.

She might be like, I'm into this.

But she also might be like, that's a gross ball.

Yeah, yeah.

Why'd you bring me a river ball?

You can never tell, Kenya. If a dog is gonna be into something gross or if they're gonna love it.

But I'm gonna, it's in my, it's in my fishing bag. So I was also cleaning up, right? I usually try to like if I see garbage, I try to take it to the garbage can by where I parked. I try to do that whenever I'm out. I found uh some fishing line with a bobber hook to it that somebody had snagged and lost, and so I fish that out and carry that out. Like I there's pretty much every time I go fishing, there's garbage somewhere.

Yeah.

So anyway, leave it better than you found it, you know.

That's so nice of you.

I try. And I didn't want to leave that ball. And I knew somebody who might appreciate it.

Maybe

we'll see. I'll give you a tennis ball update once I give it to the dog later on today. But fingers crossed, she likes it.

Can't wait. It's a gift. It's a gift.

Would you rather this or that?

Would you rather have spicy candy or sour candy? Hmm.

I've had both. I don't know yet. What are you picking? I love a cinnamon bear. I haven't had an atomic fireball in a very long time. Um that's what I think of when I think spicy candy.

Yeah, well, but I know like there's like uh like the in the uh Latin section of the grocery store, they've got all the little candies and stuff. Yeah, but I've never been a big fan of those where they just have like the chili on the and they've got the tahine.

I love those. Like tahine's great, but they'll they have like a like a spicier chili pepper on there, too.

I love those.

I'm going spicy. Are you?

Yep.

I love sour stuff. Zots are great.

I like uh, You don't mind sour stuff either,

but like warheads, I like um the sour ropes, those are good. Like the uh whatever those are sour punch ropes. I like that.

Yeah, I'm going spicy. I would much prefer a spicy over a sour. Give me some spice.

Okay. Uh I'll take sour. Okay.

You do you, boo.

I will. Would you rather this or that?

Okay, this is gonna wrap up our our Sabuki Halloween games.

Oh no. I've been having so much fun. Rude.

Oh you're so rude.

I'm not being rude.

I haven't been having so much fun. High quality content.

I know. It's been fantastic. I'm not uh I am legitimately upset. This is coming to an end. Go ahead.

Okay, this is a game called Finish the Spooky Sentence. The worst thing to hear from your spouse at 2 a.m.

is all my teeth are missing. That's terrible, isn't it? Well, I'm making it spooky. Two in the morning. Oh my teeth are missing. We're gonna go. You imagine? It'd be crazy.

You know your house is haunted when you wake up.

Uh no, let's see. You know your house is haunted when Hmm. Like I'm I've seen a lot of haunted houses. Uh jump scares, things covered in sheets, lots of dust. Like that's how you'd know.

Like if you walked in and that was happening, and you'd be like, Is my house haunted?

It might be haunted in here.

The most suspicious thing to find in a trick-or-treat bag is suspicious.

Uh-huh. Oh. Like a little gnome. A live one. That's suspicious. How'd that get in there?

The last words you want to hear from a surgeon are.

Wrong leg.

Oh no.

Oops.

Spooky

sentence. Spooky. Oops.

Good job. You didn't even need paper or a pencil.

I got a pencil. Any of those things. I have a pencil in my hand. I was prepared.

Perfectly sharpened.

You know it. All right. Well, uh, you and I have to go vote. Uh, it is the last day to early vote, so we're gonna go take care of that. Yep.

Um I'm gonna exercise.

That's uh

my right to vote.

Look at you. Uh Tuesday is uh the actual day to get out and vote. Uh if you have not voted early, uh, but if you what?

I was gonna say, will you remind me when they give me the sticker to save it until voting day?

You want to wear it twice?

No, I just want to wear it on voting day.

I see.

But I usually, if we go to early vote, I always just go blam.

Right. And

then

I hang on to mine, and then I yeah.

I go, oh, I wish I would have kept my sticker.

Right.

So I

saw some places had I voted early stickers, but I

don't know if that's our area or not. I had a friend who voted in Salt Lake, and his voting stickers were so cool.

I hope we get those ones. Well, we won't.

I know because those are the ones in Utah. If you need information uh about voting, you need to know where to go to vote. You want to look at a sample ballot. Uh you can get all of that info.

You want to look and uh check your registration, all that stuff. Vote Idaho.gov is the website that you can go to uh to get all of that information. Uh the Idaho general election will be taking place on Tuesday. Uh I believe it's like 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Yeah. Right? 8 to 8.

So and you can find your voting locations if you go to vote idaho.gov. Yep. It's all the info you need uh right there. Vote idaho.gov, and you can uh you can find out about you know info from the secretary of state and all that stuff. So go to that website if you need info and uh get out and vote. Make a plan to vote on Tuesday if you um uh are not planning on voting early. Uh definitely um

go exercise. Go vote. You're right to vote.

That's right. Uh today is the last day for early voting. Uh then you'll have to wait until Tuesday. So let's go.

Good.

Yeah, we're gonna go pick up our son and go vote. That's right. Bring a friend. They need to vote too. Vote Idaho.gov. Have a good weekend. We'll see you back here.

Happy Halloween. Ooh, be safe.

See ya in November.

Costume responsibly.

Yeah, and be careful. Watch for kids. It's important. All right. See ya.

Bye.
