What is Clydesdale Media Podcast?

We cover the sport of CrossFit from all angles. We talk with athletes, coaches and celebrities that compete and surround in the sport of CrossFit at all levels. We also bring you Breaking News, Human Interest Stories and report on the Methodology of CrossFit. We also use the methodology to make ourselves the fittest we can be.

It's that time in life when you learn,

you have to plug the plug in the

whole way to the system.

We're going to talk about that next.

I love the chase and the hunt and

I set the pace when I'm running.

I always take what I want and I

always give it one hundred.

Don't need a bank, no I'm funded.

Play the game like it's nothing.

I'm always thankful for something.

Don't take for granted, stay humble.

Now wake up!

It's time to look at the enemy.

Look in the mirror if he is no

friend to me.

It's not working out,

maybe it's the chemistry.

It's time to break up so I can

make a better me.

It's lunch time.

What is going on, everybody?

Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale,

where today we learned that in order for

electronics to work,

they have to be plugged the entire way

in.

You can't just let them hang out the

wall.

You can't let them hang out the mixer.

I was rushing.

I was rushing.

That's really all I got.

That's really the only excuse that I have.

On tomorrow's episode,

we'll learn about the on-off button.

Yeah, for real.

I turned it off and turned it back

on.

That was like the first thing I did.

That's the best.

Here we are.

You know what?

We moved past it.

we do we it's in the rearview mirror

already man we're moving on to the next

thing so uh it's been a wild quarterfinals

weekend yeah i titled this show um are

we seeing a new era of crossfit coverage

um i think it is incredible the amount

of live streaming that went on this

weekend

I won't say it was too much, right?

Because I never want to put a gift

horse in their mouth.

But, dude, there was something.

You didn't have to wait long.

It was almost – so I liken it

to a games weekend or a semifinals weekend

where, like,

you were just waiting for the next event

to happen because there was that much

stuff happening where – and I'm talking

about from, like,

watching Joseph Ramirez going with the

Glintons at six a.m.

my time all the way through Dallin and

the boys and Fee and the girls, like,

and Colton, and it just kept going, right?

You have no reason to –

yeah that was fun to watch as well

like because it went one through three

four right in a row i mean watching

the absolutely insane time tutor maga put

up and it was it was fantastic it's

all of a sudden people were interested in

actually funnels because you don't have to

wait until the leaderboard finally get

goes live this afternoon to be able to

see where everybody's at you kind of get

an idea of what's going on at the

very least

So we do put the plug-in issues in

the rear view mirror,

but according to Joseph,

if you miscount reps,

that sticks with you forever.

It's not the miscounting of reps.

It's doing it in the wrong order.

That's what sticks with you forever.

Absolutely.

Everybody miscounts reps.

But when you do the workout and you

do a choose-your-own-adventure when it's

not a choose-your-own-adventure,

that's what sticks with you forever.

That's a problem.

That's a problem.

You know what?

I'm just going to do,

I'm gonna do the burpees first.

Just call it good.

Don't recommend that by the way.

Yeah.

Um, Amanda, Harry went with hers too.

We, we left her out.

Um, Oh,

So I don't think they were notifications

live.

She does post produce stuff,

but all of hers are out there.

You can watch all four of her workouts

on her channel this weekend.

I watched, uh, her last one.

Well,

she may redo it because she actually

caught herself.

No repping,

which whenever an athlete and let, I mean,

Amanda's awesome.

She's one of my best friends in the

CrossFit space.

Um,

Whenever an athlete admits that they think

they've done something wrong and they're

no repping themselves, like,

I think an angel gets its wings.

I would agree to that.

Right.

Because so many people are trying to fight

and defend themselves for what they do.

And whenever you see an athlete say,

you know what, I screwed up.

I may have to redo this one or

it's not going to count.

Yeah.

And apparently...

I think your plug is still not the

Hawaiian.

You're really scratchy.

I don't know, dude.

It's all the way.

It's as close as it can possibly get.

I'll mess with some stuff in a second.

Okay.

So...

She was doing her dumbbell hang cleans,

hang squat cleans,

and their dumbbells touched her legs at

the bottom.

Apparently, in an FAQ,

it said that that is not allowed because

you can propel the dumbbells with your

legs.

Um,

she didn't feel like she was doing that,

but the rules are the rules.

Um, what I, what I,

if that is in fact true,

and I just watched it right before we

went on the air,

if that is in fact true and that

rule was an FAQ and not in the

written rules, I got,

I got a little bit of a problem

with that.

I definitely have a problem with that.

Definitely have a problem with that.

If that's going to be a rule,

it needs to be in the rules,

and it needs to be out there in

front where everybody can see it.

Right,

because not everybody's reading the FAQs.

But then again, not everybody is videoing,

so not everybody's going to get caught

anyway.

Yeah.

That's a problem.

That's an oversight.

But I feel like it's a pretty big

one.

Well, I say that

but they're not actually looking at

videos.

Right.

Uh, David says, wait, they can't touch.

I know some guys that did that.

Even Hiller did it in his video,

but he posted his video before the FAQ

was even posted.

So then you have,

you have that kind of stuff too.

Right.

So it's, it's, it's bizarre.

Yeah.

I don't know.

We'll let it go.

I mean,

that's not how I do dumbbell hand cleans.

Like,

I always hold mine on the outside of

my legs anyway.

So my initial,

I went outside my legs on my retest.

I went kettlebell clean style or

kettlebell swing style on the inside of my

legs,

which made a huge difference for me

because my grip did not completely blow up

and I didn't have a strong hand pinky

syndrome by the time I was over with.

Like my grip hurt by the end of

it, but it was not, it wasn't,

I mean,

at no point was I about to fail

a clean.

So I was pretty excited about that.

I'm trying to find it as Corey's talking.

Andrew,

which position would be a weird position?

So I understand it would be a weird

position since the dumbbells have to go

below the waist.

Oh, David found it.

Is it on the game site, David?

That's because that's where I'm at.

And so here's our resident head judge, Mr.

Andrew Stanton,

saying nothing in the workout description

about it, so she should be fine,

which I pretty much agree with, dude,

because if it's not in the workout,

if it's not written in the standards,

most people print out that sheet or it's

like four sheets long.

It goes over every single movement thing.

Right.

Hey,

this is what it can look like all

about.

This is what a no rep looks like.

And I would say the vast majority of

people read that.

They don't get off into the weeds and

go, well,

let me go dig down in these FAQs

and see about some kind of uncommon

movement standard type deal.

Yes.

Yes.

you're saying that if the dumbbell hits

the legs it would likely be in in

front and not beside or in between the

legs which who does that like that like

who's gonna come down and hit themselves

in the thighs with dumbbells for eighty

reps that seems a bit masochistic and like

i know we like to hurt ourselves um

as crossfitters but even that seems a bit

much like just beating yourself in the

thighs with fifty or thirty five pound

dumbbells

The FAQ says something about thrusting the

dumbbells off the legs.

Nothing about touching the legs.

Thrusting.

Oh, yeah.

It's one of my favorite words there, Vic.

Answer no.

The dumbbells cannot be pushed off the

thighs.

That comes from the question,

can I push launch the dumbbells off the

legs similar to the barbell hand clean?

So it doesn't say it can't touch.

It just says you cannot propel or.

Rebound it like you would if it was,

if you had a barbell in your hand,

which everybody does.

If it's a light enough weight,

like people are just basically rebounding

it off of their thighs to get a

little extra, a little extra bump.

And nobody ever seems to have a problem

with that.

Does that make sense?

Like if you see people doing it,

like they got hang cleans,

they do it when they're doing DT.

Whenever that first couple rounds, right?

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,

boom.

How did that go again?

Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom.

You know,

that's the sound of the barbell bouncing

off your thighs.

Sounds like you have a Dr. Dre song.

Shout out to Mr.

Pat Lange for also going live on Linton's

yesterday morning and doing his workout

live for the whole world to see.

My man killed it.

good for you pat proud of you brother

like that's not an easy thing to do

not an easy thing to do and the

fact that he didn't catch cholera from the

walls of that place that he was working

out at is actually pretty impressive as

well because it looked like it hasn't been

cleaned since the kennedy uh assassination

like it's it's been

It's an interesting place he was at.

He did some quick strict handstand pushups

and maybe needed to get off that wall

as quickly as possible.

Absolutely.

Absolutely.

He got it done.

He absolutely got it done.

Proud of him.

So I still cannot find the FAQ.

Why is it this hard to find?

No idea.

Oh, well.

I don't know.

We got our answers.

Yeah, close enough.

Close enough.

I trust David Johnson quite a bit,

actually.

So of the weekend and what we saw,

what performance has impressed you most?

Overall, Tudor.

I've never seen anything like that before.

He tripped twice on his double-unders and

still went .

. .

And I understand, well,

he can do a thousand unbroken double

unders.

Yeah, cool.

But that was absolutely bananas to watch.

Between that and Colton's handstand

pushups,

like I'm not sure which one is probably

my favorite,

but I would say Tudor is the one

that so far impressed me.

Of the ones I've seen,

because obviously I haven't had time to

see them all.

saturday morning i went in judged a friend

of mine at uh six a.m coach seven

and eight did the workout at uh nine

thirty the row handstand push-up went home

took a nap eight came back did the

shuttle sprint uh overhead squad burpee

like my saturday was balls to the wall

Yeah, my Friday,

when everybody started going live,

my work day went right out the window.

Oh, yeah, no, absolutely.

Absolutely.

My work day was shot.

Yeah, I actually had stuff to do,

and I was like, okay,

I'm going to fit this in while this

is going on at the same time.

Yeah,

it was absolutely insane with Colton,

the boys, the girls, the Glintons.

I was bouncing from stream to stream

trying to catch everything.

It never stopped, dude.

That was my big thing.

It never stopped.

Losing your mic again, dude.

I don't know what is going on today.

I have no idea.

That's weird.

Another interesting note about the

quarterfinals.

Most people don't know if you register for

Indy and Masters,

your fifty dollars goes to the Indy prize

pool, not Masters.

Can I unregister?

Because I registered for both,

like just to be able to see where

my score would end up on the individual.

And if I'd have known that,

like that's nonsense, dude.

I'm a Masters athlete.

I want my money going to be Masters

athlete.

I didn't know quarterfinals money went to

the prize pool.

I didn't either.

The rule book only says the open.

So my question was,

where does the quarterfinal money go?

And if CrossFit wanted it to run their

shit, I'm cool with it.

I'm cool with a company wanting to make

money.

But if you look at the rule book...

it spells out the prize purse for the

games is based on the open and the

open alone.

Yeah.

That's messed up.

I don't like that.

I don't like that.

Me and David have been chatting all

weekend.

Bro, that dude knows stuff.

Yeah.

Cause that's not what the rule book says.

And you can see like they've already,

when the open was done,

they said what the prizes were going to

be for the, the individual games.

Yeah.

So I don't,

why would you announce what the prize

person is after the open?

Not knowing who's even going to sign up

for quarters.

If that's the case.

Yeah.

David's asking you, what was the question?

My question was, what was your source?

Or if you don't want to reveal your

source, in vaguely,

how did you find out that their money

was going into the prize purse?

Because the rule book only says the open.

And they've already announced the prize

purse for this year when the open was

complete.

Yeah,

so I'm super curious about that because...

Me and David have been chatting all

weekend.

And I'm not asking you to reveal sources.

I just want to find out if that's

true because my big question has been this

whole weekend,

it's nice that CrossFit gets to make some

cash on this quarterfinal because there

have been a ton of signups.

And the rulebook already spells out where

the prize money goes for the athletes.

Now where does the quarterfinal money go?

Because that's not in the rulebook.

Right.

Um,

there was something up here with Larry.

I'm curious where, how Shelly ends up.

She didn't do great,

but I think less than eight hundred

submitted and four hundred move on.

That's good numbers.

While we're talking about that,

I want to give a shout out to

one of my athletes at the gym.

Um, she is in fifty five, fifty nine,

uh,

one of the hardest workers I know, dude,

like coachable, listens,

does all the things.

And really is starting to realize like

what she's actually capable of.

So for the hang clean bar muscle up

one, right.

She doesn't have bar muscle ups.

So it was like, okay, well, we just,

we're going to get, you know,

get to sixty, get your tie break time.

So I was judging her.

And before we started, I was like, okay,

so like,

We can e-mom this, you know,

like you just better get a decent tie

break time and then we'll kind of finish

it off after that or whatever.

And she kind of went, okay, sure.

Three, two, one, go.

She did sixty unbroken double dumbbell

hang squat cleans in like three minutes

and forty nine seconds.

would have to then take a nap before

i proceeded on to the rest i said

so like shout out to my girl uh

tracy plays on us uh married to one

of my best friends uh her husband jeff

another coach at the gym um

It was bananas to watch, dude.

Cause like every time,

like she got to forty and I was

like, surely she's at.

Nope, we're not putting them down.

OK,

we just gonna keep on going and just

keep on going and just keep on going

and just keep on going.

And so we were talking about it Saturday

morning.

She did that.

friday or thursday she did thursday uh she

had thursday so we're talking about

saturday morning at the gym and like most

of us who were there who were like

you know relatively high level was like i

don't know if i could do that and

i don't know if i could do that

with the weights that she used like uh

david reed went three fifty six on his

tie break

You know, on workouts like that,

you have to look at your overall game.

And if you have holes,

then you have to attack it a different

way.

But you know who doesn't have holes?

Thirdsie.

Their game is solid.

So well balanced.

It has everything you need to recover

better than ever.

Easter weekend is coming up this weekend.

If you're visiting family or having family

in,

you need all the sleep and recovery you

can get.

And the best way to get that,

go to thirdsy.com backslash Jazzy or use

promo code Jazzy at checkout.

Get fifteen percent off your order.

You just knocked out one clean out the

board.

That's like home run Derby, uh,

type stuff on Vicki for like a week.

A hundred percent dude.

And look to be to her credit.

She's been, she's been looked softballs,

softballs the entire time.

So that was fantastic.

So I thought today I needed to pick

up my slack and,

and try to find a good way to

get in here.

But yeah, it's got everything.

It's got the collagen protein.

It's got the,

all the good stuff that helps you sleep

at night without getting that addictive

melatonin in your system.

It's complete game, complete game,

head to toe five tool athlete, man.

It's, it's a wonderful thing.

It's a wonderful thing.

I love it.

I don't know.

I don't know.

I say,

I don't know how I got along before

it.

I know how I got along for it.

I had crappy sleep most of the time.

So that stuff's a game changer.

Joseph Ramirez workout to broke me.

We broke Corey.

He couldn't use his one hand for like

an hour.

It was weird, dude.

It was so weird.

I think he was like this.

So I redid that one this morning.

I cut two minutes and eleven seconds off

my time and I had full use of

my hands by the time I was done.

Different strategy.

How good of a co-host would you be

if you couldn't do the jazzing?

Yeah, if I can't do jazzing, seriously.

Yeah, no.

Reed did that one this morning and had

a completely different rep scheme and was

way more manageable.

And my judge was like,

I had to make sure that you had

like –

was just going so smooth the entire time

and i was like well that was kind

of the point so i'm pretty excited about

that i think that's the key to that

workout i watched jamie's workout it

looked like a stroll in the park yeah

i don't know like a stroll in the

park maybe central park after midnight um

Yeah.

That's how I felt to the park.

Yeah.

Where the methods hang out.

A hundred percent.

Like I'm, I don't,

I wouldn't say I was fighting for my

life necessarily, but when I got done,

I was very,

very happy to be done like that.

At least you're not on that side of

the park where the guys are waiting for

you in the toilet stall for you to

come in and, you know,

that could be bad.

That could be bad.

No, but I'm pretty,

I'm pretty happy overall.

Um,

Just waiting on one at this point.

And I hate waiting.

I'm not a big fan of waiting.

So I'm going to need this next couple

of hours pass through pretty quick.

Uh, Joseph Ramirez, if I miss semis,

it will be because I bombed on workout

too.

Dude, you, Joseph is fit, man.

He's really fit.

Joseph is one hundred percent fit.

Yeah.

And the Glintons aren't done, man.

They've got one more show today at one

thirty.

Will Plummer is finishing up

quarterfinals.

It was supposed to be this morning.

I was ready to be tuned in.

I catch up on that right before I

came on here and then it went away.

So I don't know.

Nothing like wait until the last lap.

Will's like changing his tires with ten

laps to go, man.

Yeah.

oh, shit, I'm about out of fuel.

I need to come in and make a

stop right quick.

Like, like, it's not great.

It's not great.

Look, well, I'm just saying, love you,

bro.

I hope you smash it.

But I don't remember which one is he

doing?

Oh, wait,

just from your mind was like a stroll

downtown Albany.

Some of Hitler's some of Hitler's people.

Yeah.

Uh,

watching the boys do four different rep

schemes and finished within ten seconds of

each other was interesting that it's such,

it's such a,

a cool concept because there are such

similar athletes.

Yeah.

So with,

with a group of four like that,

that are all kind of the same,

same animal to,

to watch that happen was really,

really cool.

Another person taking a late lap pit stop.

Just did last quarter final workout,

blew up my Achilles and calf on the

last round of second barbell.

So pissed, pissed, crusty other three.

I hope we're not talking tear.

Yeah, I hope we're not.

I hope we didn't build.

I hope we're just talking like a strained

sprain.

I'm going to need a little bit of

clarification there, John George.

Please tell me you did not build Leahy

and actually blow it out because that's

not good at all.

Yeah, we don't need any of that.

No, sir.

David Reed,

I enjoyed seeing how the others attacked

the workouts.

Joseph Stalmore,

dog technique for strict handstand pushups

was interesting.

Yeah.

Duke can do a child's pose right into

a handstand.

That's talent.

I didn't get to see any of that.

Oh, my God.

You have to go back and watch it.

Just fast forward to the handstand

push-ups.

He sent me his videos.

I will go check them out.

That's not a party trick.

Yeah.

Can you imagine being at a party,

looking over against the wall,

and there's Joseph doing child's pose?

And then, whoop, up he goes.

That's pretty cool, Joseph.

Like,

only the CrossFit geeks in the place would

be like, yeah, that was all right.

Everybody else would be like,

what is he doing?

sitting over there in a lump like and

you're thinking well that guy's drunk as

hell right and all of a sudden right

up he goes vicky says you smashed it

joseph and that beard game is on point

his beard is it's amazing honestly there's

got to be superpowers man but but if

the ends touch like it can short circuit

I feel like that's probably a thing.

I'm actually glad they don't touch because

I would hate to see what happened if

it did.

Yeah, it's like battery cables.

You can't let them touch, man.

Live battery cables.

Grace is fifteen forty when Carolyn was

sharing about her athlete code last night.

I was thinking I wish the games team

had shared that or info earlier already

bought my tickets before I heard you could

support athletes.

Yeah, you can.

All the athletes games,

athletes were given a code and they if

you buy your tickets and put their code

in,

they get ten percent of the proceeds back

to help fund their athletes.

their trip to the games.

Um, and Carolyn's is Prevo.

I need to have her text me that

and put it in.

We just started,

start putting out random Prevo.

Fifteen.

Like,

unless you're a pan check or a Wells,

it's the rest of it doesn't matter.

Why not just Prevost?

Something easy, but it's like Prevost,

something CF Prevost, CF, CFG Prevost.

Vicky,

you got to add an S after the

O and before the T.

So it's C-F-G-P-R-E-V-O-S-T.

Thank you.

Vicky's always picking up my luggage that

I leave behind.

Like,

I don't know if I could do this

show without her.

Probably not at this point.

Because let's be honest,

I'm not picking up anything at this point.

Like, I'm hoping to God somebody helps me.

I finally got the segue on my own

today.

A hundred percent.

So I will go back and put that

in the show notes so you can check

that out after the show.

And I'll put it in going forward until

it's down.

We haven't got an update from John George.

I'm starting to worry.

Yeah,

but none of the athletes got their codes

before sales went public.

Couldn't wait.

I know.

That's a miss.

CrossFit has done a lot of things right

this year.

That's a miss.

That's a miss.

That's a pretty big one.

Like if you're going to give them that,

then why not give them that?

And then, Hey, here's all y'all stuff.

Here's an extra day or two,

like an extra day to a, Hey,

when you, these go live,

encourage people to use them instead of,

Hey, tickets are available.

And then two days later, three days later,

a month later, whatever it is.

Oh, and by the way,

there's codes for people to be able to

buy stuff.

Like,

especially now that we're only a

twenty-year whatever the heck it is.

That's just twenty-year.

I kept wanting to say reunion.

That's not right.

Twenty years of CrossFit games.

Let's go with that.

Right.

Bought my tickets the day they went live.

Didn't hear about the coach until last

night.

ken walters wonder if we you could go

back somehow that's like a hundred and ten

dollars an athlete could have gotten off

my ticket yeah that's messed up kudos to

them for trying to give the athletes

another way to to earn some some money

but like maybe let's not put the cart

before the horse like if that is going

to be the case uh pat asked when

will the crossfit leaderboard be official

for quarterfinals it's got to be after

wednesday because there is no video review

but they did not validate videos or they

did not validate scores automatically.

And then affiliate owners have until

Wednesday night, five PM Pacific,

eight PM Eastern to validate the scores.

Once they're validated,

I think the leaderboard is official.

Yep.

Okay.

Not a tear,

just pain and throbbing up my leg.

All right.

So we could come back from this.

Good.

Glad to hear that, John.

Glad to hear that.

They did the kickback last year too.

Where's Hobart when we need him in the

chat?

Yeah.

They did it last year,

but it was late.

It was when they weren't selling tickets

and they were trying everything in the

world to get tickets sold.

y'all go let's go to Albany who doesn't

want to go to Albany which to be

fair like if I would if that was

in my things to do like I'm going

to go to the CrossFit Games I don't

care where I don't necessarily care where

it's at like as long as it's not

in Iraq in a live war zone you

know or like in the North Pole or

the South Pole or somewhere other

absolutely ridiculous or Cleveland

maybe cleveland um i'm going i'm just

kidding i'm going like it doesn't

necessarily matter where it's at if i'm if

i'm going i'm going it's really where it's

at it's not necessarily okay oh it's in

albany okay cool i guess we're going to

albany new york yeah uh

Iraq, North Pole,

South Pole would make interesting outdoor

events.

It would open up the playbook too for

Dave to come up with.

Snowman making.

Snowball throwing.

Ice cutting probably at some point.

Everybody buy chainsaws and like five

percent of your score is knowing how to

start a chainsaw.

Carolyn would do well.

She would.

She already has her snowshoes and skates

all sharpened up.

Albany was pretty fun.

Actually pretty fun.

A lot of close encounters with athletes

and easy walking except for the whack hill

to vendor village,

which vendor village was lame.

Only complaints.

The vendor village right outside the

entryway, Mike, was awesome.

It just wasn't enough.

And they put like overflow vendor village

up in the media area.

And that was a climb up a hill

and up and around and then up the

escalator and blah, blah, blah.

So yeah,

it was not ideal being in two different

buildings.

But I agree with you.

It was pretty fun.

It had a good vibe.

Albany had a really good vibe as long

as you were there for the CrossFit Games.

I didn't venture out downtown to go eat.

My hotel was outside of downtown.

Um, and honestly,

by the time I got back to my

hotel,

it was too late to go out to

eat.

I was like door dashing everything.

There you go.

Um, Helson, I loved Albany, Albany,

but that was my first ever CrossFit games.

It was a good vibe games, man.

I, I enjoyed it.

Um, um,

Terry, hey,

I heard that Cleveland comment.

It's okay,

I moved from there thirty years ago.

Exactly, you moved from there.

Hey man,

home of the Rock and Roll Hall of

Fame.

Actually,

I've had some good times in Cleveland.

Cleveland rocks!

Cleveland rocks!

I mean, I grew up in Pittsburgh.

They're essentially twin cities.

interesting no one wants to go to

Cleveland because he's in Cincinnati and

they hate each other so anyway Alex Kazan

broke the ice with me the same way

that was super cool too I wasn't going

to say anything she was so nice I

don't know okay

Oh, yeah, was was is cool like that.

I found myself walking next to Haley by

the hotel broke the ice with a convo

about Star Wars.

She is a big fan.

Yep.

How about Oakland?

Probably not.

But you're pretty close to Oakland in San

Jose.

It's a hop and a skip.

I don't think you even have to do

the jump.

So if you want to run through that

park, you probably can.

Oof.

Probably not a great idea.

Probably not a great idea.

All right.

One thing I want to talk about before

we get off here,

and that is yesterday in one of the

lives,

the boys interrupted had the Buttery Bros

do the commentary.

And...

This happened.

Oh, yeah.

Everybody's seen.

Sprague, Dauper, and Dustin.

Yeah.

Who are you picking, Matt?

Well, no.

No,

I don't want to ruin my day of

talking about Pratt.

No,

I don't want to ruin my day of

talking about Pratt.

No,

I don't want to ruin my day of

talking about Pratt.

So, that was said yesterday.

I find some of the compliments

interesting.

Jenna Hauka just said, ooh.

Yeah.

Nick Johnson,

let me show you my big surprised face.

Tristan,

just doing the Iron Man rolling of the

eyes.

Right.

So when I first heard it, I thought,

he's out at a zoo,

probably with his family.

The last thing he wants to do is

jump on a podcast and do that whole

thing.

And I was very,

very kind of forgiving the first time I

heard it.

When I looked at it again and I

saw the hand motion,

it elevated it a little bit for me.

I just don't think he cares what anybody

thinks.

And he's just going to say what's on

his mind.

And it is what it is.

But I've said forever that Rich Froning is

my favorite male CrossFitter of all time.

There's a reason for that.

I love Rich.

I love what he's done for the space.

I love that he preaches the gospel.

And Matt's never going to do that.

Matt never did that when he was there

before.

Your thoughts?

I used to be the biggest Matt Fraser

fan you could possibly find.

I identify with him a lot because I

feel like we had a lot of the

same type mentality when it comes to

stuff.

I'm going to outwork everybody.

You're not going to work harder than I

am when it comes to whatever.

We're both the same size.

Which for me, like being this,

this size and in the way that I

am, um, I liked his attitude.

I liked the fact that he didn't seem

to give a shit what everybody else

thought.

And I liked the fact that he, um,

was out there, not just to win,

but he wanted to dominate every single

time he was on the floor.

So, like, during his reign, you know,

and even leading up to it, well,

so I say leading up to it.

I wasn't in CrossFit on a leading up

to it part.

But looking back over everything,

you know,

you kind of know what his story was.

It's outstanding, right?

It's phenomenal.

Dude's just absolutely ridiculous.

And ever since he retired, he's –

He's so seemingly detached from what's

actually going on here.

And that's fine if you want to do

that.

I understand that.

But you are the head of a programming

company.

You got your hands in a supplement

company.

You got your hands in a shoe company.

All of these things that are related to

the thing that everybody knows who you are

now because of.

nobody knew who matt fraser was and had

it not been for crossfit he would be

an engineer somewhere working at a firm or

working for himself period end of story so

okay go ahead finish the rogan thing i'm

i was same same like you like just

kind of okay whatever you know didn't

really want to talk about it he's on

there with rogan you know trying to look

cool whatever

Every other single thing, dude,

like it just keeps adding on and adding

on and adding on that he doesn't give

a shit about what's going on over here

so long as he's getting paid.

And that bothers me.

So here,

so I really had to kind of step

back, look at it on its whole.

What was awesome about Matt Fraser is he

came into this space and he wasn't like

anybody else.

He didn't give two shits what you thought

of him.

He didn't give two shits if he did

it the way everybody else did.

He was going to do it his way.

And that's what made two thousand

fourteen,

two thousand fifteen and two thousand

sixteen.

Some of the best CrossFit games ever

because he was the villain.

Yeah, he was the anti-rich.

And he came in and he went up

against Rich and Rich beat him in the

last second in fourteen.

Ben Smith beat him in the last second

in fifteen.

And then he finally overcame it all and

beat Ben in sixteen.

That's what we loved about him is that

he was shitting on the standard of what

an athlete was.

He was shitting on all of that stuff.

And that's what made him popular.

And that's what made him big.

And to now expect him to flip that

role in retirement,

I think is asking too much.

He was shitting on all that stuff when

he first got here.

He has not changed.

What's hard for me is one of my,

like Justin Collar is one of my best

friends in the space.

And the fact that he is now part

of HWPO, like stop,

stop sabotaging yourself in the space

today.

But who am I to tell Matt Frazier

to change who he is?

And the other part, and I didn't,

all I've seen is the clip, that clip.

Right.

So to your point,

all I've seen is that clip.

He's eating, being dismissive, whatever.

I don't want to ruin my day by

talking about CrossFit, whatever.

I have no idea what would happen before

then or what happened after then because I

did not watch the stream.

So I have,

Maybe he's just saying,

I'm going to pick somebody and they're

going to get their ass kicked,

so I'm not talking about CrossFit right

now.

I'm eating my lunch.

I'm not talking about CrossFit right now.

Whatever.

Because all he's been doing or asked to

do anytime he's been somewhere is talk

about CrossFit.

So to give him the benefit of doubt

as far as that's concerned,

but it just seems like every time he

gets in front of a camera for something

and they catch him candidly,

that's what comes out.

So I have no idea what the rest

of life looks like.

I have absolutely no idea.

He's a father now.

God only knows how many businesses he's

got going on and whatnot.

So I really have absolutely no idea what

the rest of it is.

I just know that when that happens,

that's the thing that we normally get.

So what I'm saying is I see all

the chat saying, well,

what about the Rogan interview?

What about all these other times, right?

That has been the same Matt Frazier since

he got here as an athlete in twenty

fourteen.

He was the anti establishment.

He didn't come from an affiliate.

He didn't go through the things that

everybody else went through.

And that's why it was exciting because

people either said, hey,

I'm rooting for Darth Vader or hey,

I'm rooting for Luke Skywalker.

because he was anti everything.

He never, never,

he never did the invitationals.

He never did anything to help CrossFit HQ

move this thing forward ever.

So to expect him to now be inconsistent

and be an HQ lover would not be

genuine.

Yeah.

It would,

He never shows up for open announcements.

He never shows up for special events.

He never has, and he never will.

He wasn't asked to be on this broadcast.

He wasn't asked to be on this broadcast.

Yeah.

He was kind of caught off guard.

And there he goes.

um but he was pissed if you need

to go man no no no no that's

somebody just can't drop the mail off my

desk no big deal okay but he was

pissed that he didn't get an invite to

the invitations that was his story five

years after the fact and we all know

that he kept the list of people he

hated to motivate him throughout his

career

I'm Mike DeVito.

I'll give you that consistently a jabroni

when it comes to CrossFit.

That is it.

Exactly.

Mike hit it on the head.

He was a jabroni when he first got

here and he's a jabroni now.

And when you loved him in two thousand

fourteen for him,

how can you now hate him for it

today?

I'll also say this.

As far as him never wanting to represent

CrossFit or whatnot,

I feel like he was representing Matt.

And he's always been representing Matt.

And so to your point,

there's nothing necessarily wrong with

that.

Right?

Do you, bro.

Do you.

And he's perfectly comfortable because you

know that he knows that all of this

is going on.

He can't not.

So he's comfortable with it.

He does not give a shit.

He sleeps well at night on his giant

piles of money.

It's just that I think we as CrossFitters

who hold it near and dear to our

hearts see him, the five-time champ,

two-time second-place guy,

hwp owner whatever whatever whatever it is

the shoe thing the podium thing the

whatever else he's got going on thing you

look at that and you go and it's

hard to disassociate between the two like

you got all this stuff going on that

people that are crossfitters are throwing

money at you for and then somebody asks

you a serious us you know what seems

like a pretty pretty easy question and you

tell everybody to get get bent

SEMA, well, I never liked him,

so he just confirmed why.

That's it.

I made my choice in twenty fourteen.

I wanted Rich to kick his ass then.

Right.

Right.

I rooted for Ben Smith in twenty fifteen.

I made that choice then.

And so.

Let's look at today.

You never see him invited on podcasts

anymore.

I don't I think he I think if

when I think he told enough people know

that they just don't invite him anymore.

He was on our show once,

but here's my thing.

I had him on once.

He was telling the same stories he told

on every other podcast.

So I wasn't able to get anything new

out of him.

Right.

My better interview was when I interviewed

his mother.

I remember you telling me that.

She gave me way more information than he

ever did.

And so like,

he doesn't get those riches voted is

invited on everything.

And every show he does gets shit tons

of views because he has something to say.

It's not the same old story.

It's not.

And he follows the methodology and he

follows the sport closely.

And so he has, it's like he,

when rich talks, people want to listen.

Can't confirm.

I'm going to see Rich Talk.

Literally going to see Rich Talk.

I never want to hear about his not

using a knife to cut food ever again.

That's my point, Mark.

Because he was anti-establishment,

he had a stock set of stories that

he would tell on podcasts,

and they just kept getting repeated.

And if you read his book,

his book were the same stories that he

told on the podcasts.

Well, he's only got so many.

I mean, let's be honest there.

He really does only have so many.

And if you want to get them,

all you have to do is go watch

the documentaries from fourteen,

fifteen all the way through twenty.

Because they're all on there.

Yeah.

Because they feature him on every single

one of those.

from whenever he was second place all the

way through his five in a row.

No rep, Pappy.

He will be linked to CrossFit forever,

whether he wants to or not,

which is actually his choice.

His choice was to come in and make

as much money as he could possibly make

and leave.

He never said he wanted to stick around

and own a gym or do anything.

He said it himself.

a long time ago that once he figured

out you could make money doing this is

when he started winning all the local

comps and just kind of escalated from

there.

Ken Walter, Scott,

you and I are the only ones who

know who EF Hutton is.

There's three of us.

I know who he is.

Yeah.

Um,

With all that being said,

he was a beast competing,

and I miss watching it.

I agree.

Honestly, XIV, XV, and XVI,

my favorite years to watch CrossFit.

Until the recent years when we have no

idea who's going to win,

those were my favorite years to watch

CrossFit.

Wayne,

he was arrogant long before CrossFit.

Fame only amplifies what you already are.

Sometimes.

agree with that for some people if you're

an and now you get money you're an

with money like and you can be you

can be more of an because now you

have money

I think he's an introvert.

I think he just doesn't like being in

the public eye.

I don't think he likes talking to people.

I think he just wanted to come in,

do his thing, win his money,

and go home and be with his family.

And now he has a great family,

and he just wants to spend time with

them at his little camp, retreat,

whatever it is up there in Vermont,

and just ride his pit bikes and have

fun.

I really would be.

I say interested,

I don't really care necessarily,

but I would be interested to see like

how much of this, this type of stuff,

like him happened to be there with buttery

Rose.

He gets coerced into doing right.

Or guilt tripped into doing or whatnot,

where he's just like, fine, I'll go.

And it becomes like a, uh, you know,

uh, I'm only here only here.

So I don't get fined type situation.

Well,

I think this is a factor into yesterday

too.

You know,

him and Hopper didn't end in the best

ways.

Not at all.

Like supposedly it was amicable,

but that was probably just publicly.

Sure.

It feels like he lost a year of

his competitiveness and Hopper was on that

live stream.

And now you're asking Frazier to pick when

one of his failures is out there.

Exactly.

Jody, we never reference a woman's age.

A woman's age.

That's how you say that, Ken.

Because Jody knows who EF Hutton is, too.

She's cultured.

That's why she knows who EF Hutton is.

So, Joseph,

I heard you say this on the stream

on Saturday or Sunday.

Sunday, I think.

I don't think he did twenty because of

O'Keefe.

I think twenty...

the facts were laid out by O'Keefe and

then Frazier made the choice to be one

better than rich.

At the end of the day,

it's Matt's choice.

Push him out to the start line.

Right.

I would say that I would, I would,

I would agree to that.

Yes, he did.

Yes, he wasn't necessarily wanting to do,

but then when he looked at it and

like, Hey bro,

this is your legacy right here.

It's yours to lose.

It's yours to win.

It's yours to lose.

If you don't show up,

you're going to lose.

If you show up, you're going to win.

Like, that's not even a question.

And he went into the games,

and he said this,

like he wanted as much points as humanly

possible.

And by the end,

like the point deficit between him and

Noah was huge.

It was absurd.

It was absolutely absurd.

Uh, I think he had enough,

like the point deficit between the two of

them was enough for him to win again

or something like that.

Like, uh, it was, yeah,

Sam quant was number two that year.

Yeah.

He doubled quant.

Yeah.

Absolutely ridiculous.

Uh, fifth title doesn't count.

No depth of field.

All titles count.

You have to face a season.

Whatever you're up against,

you take that on.

If you win it, you win the title.

Just like the Lakers won the NBA title

in a bubble, they still won the title.

You got to win the test that's put

in front of you.

Yeah.

It is what it is.

It's like saying that the two years Jordan

retired,

the Rockets didn't actually win a

championship because Jordan was just

retired and they're coming back.

That doesn't make any sense.

Mike DeVito,

and that's why Tia's the GOAT.

She will never give it.

She will give it to her last breath

if she thinks she can still win.

Her fire may never flick her out.

Only age will prevent her.

I don't disagree, but that was rich in.

What we have now is the lovable cuddly

rich when he went team anymore,

family man, before he had kids,

that dude was a savagest to you.

A hundred percent, a hundred percent.

Go watch, uh, fittest.

Uh, what is it?

Fittest man in history,

fittest in history, whatever his, yeah,

bro.

They adopted a child and that's the only

reason he didn't just keep winning because

they went and got a baby and he

was like,

I can't be a dad and compete like

this all the time because he knows how

he's built.

He said, I think I can handle team.

So let's go ahead and do that and

still be okay to be.

And he was fit enough to do it

because that just kept happening.

Oh boy,

imagine being an HWPO athlete trying to

make it to the games and you hear

what Matt said over the weekend.

How do I know HWP has my best

interest in mind now when the owner hates

CrossFit?

Well,

the only person I know at HWPO that

has a shot at the games is Alex

Kazan, and she brought Justin with her.

So Justin still has her best interest at

heart.

But I just don't know where you go

from here with that.

You can't have your owner sabotaging

everything moving forward.

Agreed.

Pat, I completely disagree.

Um, I do.

Pat says,

I think it's fair to say that there's

an element of Frazier's existence that

scared rich into retirement.

I think he saw how good Matt could

be.

I don't think Matt rich never backed down

from anybody.

Yeah.

If even before Matt came on the scene,

rich was saying when he has kids,

he can't do what he did before.

He had to take a step back from

competition.

And that's before Matt ever set foot at

the CrossFit games.

You want to know what kind of competitor

Rich was when the one second place medal

they got as a team is the only

medal that's ever been on display at the

Bourne to remind everybody that on the

team of how bad it sucked to get

second place.

Period.

He hung that one up.

The rest of them,

I think they were in a box in

his closet somewhere for the longest time.

We just literally switched to HWPO and was

very excited.

Now I'm kind of whatever.

Arlene, if the programming's good,

the programming's good.

Don't let one jackass ruin it for you.

Yeah.

I wouldn't leave you with this because I

do have to get going for work.

I don't know if you saw Ben Bergeron's

YouTube post.

I can promise you I didn't see anything

with Ben Bergeron.

How I Built the Fittest Man on Earth.

But I saw that.

I saw that.

And it is a well-known fact that Matt

barely set foot in CrossFit New England.

To even put that up as a title,

a thumbnail, a tease,

whatever the hell you want to call it,

is ridiculous.

Nobody loves Ben Bergeron as much as Ben

Bergeron loves Ben Bergeron.

Nobody does.

Maybe we'll talk about that tomorrow.

Maybe I'll take a look at it.

I'm going to go look at it now

because I, but really?

How I Built the Fittest Man on Earth.

I have a headache now.

The sequel is going to be How I

Got to Be Close with the Fittest Woman

on Earth.

Yeah, a hundred percent.

Closer than probably I should have been.

Show me strong.

Show me smart.

Oh, man.

With that, guys,
