McKay Vandenberg:

As we continue our reading of Psalms, today we are reading through Psalms 134, another shorter Psalm, only three verses long. And the passage says, Oh, the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, You who serve at night in the house of the Lord, lift your hands towards the sanctuary and praise the Lord. May the Lord who made heaven and earth bless you from Jerusalem. Now the little subheading in my bible says, a song for pilgrims ascending to Jerusalem. And if you haven't spent any time reading the Old Testament, it's okay, it's a pretty large piece of, scripture, but a lot of the, ancient Israelites would travel from their home to Jerusalem to offer sacrifices and spend time in the temples.

McKay Vandenberg:

And so reading a Psalm like this is reading their version of worship song, something we would sing on a Sunday. And as I read this, I reflect on the power of singing praises to our Lord. Psalms 134 is very short, but is very simple and a beautiful reminder that as we step into these moments of worship, of prayer, of praise, of learning and being in the presence of God, This gives a great example of how to prepare ourselves for that, how to release some of the stress and anxiety of the day, and just praise the Lord, serve Him well, and lift our hands high to our glorious Creator. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, I pray today that we just all find a way to praise you, whether that be through song and actual listening of worship music, whether that be through quiet moments in our day to just thank you for the things that we have.

McKay Vandenberg:

Lord, help us to bring our attention to you, your grace and your provision over our lives. Lord, help us to just live in your presence, filled with your Holy Spirit. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
