L E S S O N S - with Lennox Saint

Five computer-use demos and one Descript editing test show where Astra helps a beginner, and where experience and taste still matter.

Show Notes

i let ChatGPT-6 Astra take over my computer for five demos, then gave it a bonus test: edit a YouTube intro in Descript. This is the audio from the hands-on video. Music, Google Earth, Keynote, Photopea and Blender all get a turn. # 5 insane ChatGPT-6 Astra Computer Use cases

[00:00:00] this in layers, so the changes... Whoa!

ChatGPT-6 Astra just dropped.

We're not going to look at the benchmarks. You already know this is a f\*cking amazing model. What we're going to have a look at is the thing that everyone has been talking about when it comes to how good Astra is, which is

Computer use

We're gonna be taking a look at the top five use cases of Astra when it comes to computer use

. Before we do that though, I'm Lenny. I love making videos about AI, and chances are if you're watching this video, you're new to the channel, so like And subscribe if you like watching videos about AI

I've posted hundreds of videos on YouTube, and I'm trying to have my breakout moment. It will happen, I know it, but it only happens through your help.

This is my very first prompt with ChatGPT-6 Astra First impressions. Let's do it.

number five, make an original soundtrack by painting music onto a grid. I'll build a melody, add bass and drums, then play it. Viewers can use the same approach for a video intro, a podcast sting, or their first music project.

I'm building this in layers, so the changes... Whoa

What the [00:01:00] hell? Whoa. What the

I don't even know what's happening right now, but That almost seems superhuman fast

Okay. Something is happening

Whoa!

This is

Crazy. Whoa, okay. This is pretty cool

Right So it just created all those different patterns and notes

That was use case five.

Number four is scout spectacular locations in 3D. I'll use Google Earth to fly between dramatic landscapes and city skylines, then tilt and orbit the camera. Viewers can use this to scout photo spots, explore places before a trip, or plan filming locations

Okay. Explore Earth

Matterhorn

Whoa

Whoa, what's it doing?

Oh, cool

So it's

Now it's going to the Empire State Building

Getting a better view

Zooming out

That one was pretty mid, but let's have a look at number three, which is build an animated presentation in the desktop Keynote app I'll turn a blank slide into a space-themed visual, then run it in presentation mode. Viewers can use this for pitches, lessons, and video explainers.

That's getting better

We have Keynote up. [00:02:00] Okay, we've got it moving. Orbit

Putting in a little subtitle, then a name. It's going up to the top

Choosing to put a rocket in there Rocketship

Oh, what's it doing? Colors

Making it bigger. It's centering it. Damn

And then it is animating it. Cool

Adding an effect

Magic move

Well, it's just duplicated the slide and holy shit

What I've noticed about this is once it's done an action once, it's like it learns how to perform that action and then can do it lightning fast. And there we go. Oh, damn. It even had a little animation in there as well

use case two

design a striking poster in Photopea

I have never heard of that, but apparently it is a free online photo editor. I'll build a fictional Midnight Signal event poster from a blank canvas using bold type, color, and layered shapes

New project

Whoa. It just entered a bunch of different controls. I didn't even... It was almost too quick for me to even notice

And then I think it's putting in the color now. Okay, it's just added all of those different settings in the color

And let's put in a rectangle

[00:03:00] and it's cooking again. It's doing the headline now

Choosing the font

Choosing the color

All right. What is it doing now? It's changing the text

but now for the final demo

I'm sitting down for this one.

The finale is Blender, installing a desktop 3D studio, then building a model you can orbit and inspect on screen. This is useful for product mock-ups, video graphics, and visualizing an idea before making it.

For the model, I'm making a small orbital sculpture, a central sphere, tilted rings, and a display base.

And now it is launching Blender

Okay

and Astra is away. What is it doing here? It's searching for a sphere

Cool now searching for shade smooth

And

Cool. Well, what is it doing now? It's like putting a laser beam on it

Okay. It's doing something. It's changing the texture of the ball

And now it's adding in... Oh, I see. This is really cool Okay

And then it's adding in a cylinder. What on earth? I thought I could see the vision, but now I... Oh, okay

All right, what [00:04:00] is happening?

adding in

And then it is changing the

The width of the rings now, each one at a time. See what I was saying before? Once it's done one action once, it then remembers how to do that and then does that next same action again really quickly

So what are the implications of this? This thing can control a computer and a browser better than you can now, and it's not even close.

I had never heard of this application before, and if you had shown me this application an hour ago, I would have had no idea how to use it. I don't need to know how to use that because of Astra.

And it created this in seven minutes and 41 seconds

But there is more, and I'm standing back up for this one because I know really, you are only here for one reason, one use case above all the others.

Video editing

Tools like Descript make video editing so much easier than what it used to be, but it still takes hours

I'm currently creating six YouTube videos a week.

So now I want to see whether Astra can [00:05:00] replace my girlfriend, shout out Yassy, she's editing those YouTube videos for me at the moment, and I wanna see how

Astra goes about editing a video in Descript

This is a special one for two reasons. Firstly, I'm putting this mofo on fast mode.

And the second thing is this

Computer history

all right, now it is time for me to sit back and relax

What I've asked Astra to do here is to take a look at my computer history. That's also a plugin that you can go and turn on. And I'm asking Astra to go and basically look at every time that I've gone and edited in Descript and to figure out what my editing style is.

Yes, that is something that you can do

then as I've been training my girlfriend on how to edit my YouTube videos, I've been recording those and getting those transcripts So Astra is also going to take a look at those transcripts, matter of fact already has. My recent feedback is clear: lead with the outcome, tell the story visually for people watching muted and use zooms to emphasize something specific.

Astra was smart enough here to look at past standard operating procedures that I'd created [00:06:00] about editing and to figure out that my r- most recent feedback was more nuanced and it's decided to apply that instead

By the way, this video that I've asked Astra to edit,

the first few lines are me just doing retakes

There are word gaps in between

It's just my talking head as a square in the bottom left-hand corner

it was trying to prompt Underlord, which is literally just the Descript AI editing agent that is native in Descript, and that would've been cheating.

All right. What is it doing now? It's just removing the retakes from the introduction because I only asked it for the first 30 seconds

And then it's removing that text

And what is it doing now? Shortening the word gaps

And it's going through and individually applying each one and even listening to it

Five followers in seven days. What are you doing? In tools you use this hack.

listening to each one, one at a time,

If

and shortening each one, one at a time

than three months

Okay, the opening now reaches the main explanation in about 26 seconds instead [00:07:00] of over six minutes. I shortened only the nine pauses before that boundary. I'm moving on to the visual treatment and captions

Whoa, what is it doing now?

It's identified that there's still a retake remaining in the first 30 seconds, so it's going to go and use Descript to remove that retake

this is how one of my YouTube videos is normally edited

copy and pasting posts from ChatGPT or Claude, stop. That is so 2024. There is a new way to create content in 2026, and I don't say this lightly, it is mind-blowing. The old way is you

So there's a lot of motion, there's a lot of zooms

And this is the version that Astro just created

This one prompt got 1,250 followers in seven days. If you've been creating content for more than three months and you're still creating new posts, what are you doing? In this video, I'm going to show you the greatest content hack

So I asked it to look at my editing style. I've documented this extensively, and I'd say that

Astra could do the bare minimum there. It could remove the [00:08:00] word gaps, and it could remove the retakes, it could apply the captions, and it could resize my head, but it didn't go and actually move my talking head around and to create the same sort of motions that we just saw in the other YouTube video.

My verdict is that this can't use a computer faster than me if we're just going for raw speed head-to-head. But what if I don't understand an application? Because I've spent thousands of hours in Descript. I can use Descript very quickly, but I've never used Blender before, so it could definitely use Blender faster than me.

If you know how to use an app inside and out then yeah, you will be faster at using that, app than Astra. But if you have not used an app before, Astra is going to be faster and that's actually a pretty big deal Because

It raises a lot of questions like, should I even bother learning how to use apps anymore? That is a whole can of worms for another time
