Host
Eric Feeney
After teaching for nearly a decade at his alma mater in Waterbury, in 2014, Eric Feeney began teaching at Wolcott Elementary in West Hartford. Shortly following, Sam Sohn, the father of one of his students, passed away suddenly from a heart attack. He left behind four beautiful children and a loving wife, Nancy Wallace-Sohn. Eric saw first-hand the toll this took on the family as they navigated their way through this unthinkable tragedy. The following year, Rashad Collier Sr., another father of a student in Eric’s class, passed away in Hartford as a result of gun violence. Rashad left behind two fantastic children and a loving wife, Denise Villegas. The impact of these tragedies weighed on Eric and motivated him to build an organization that could provide assistance for similar situations. With that, Friends of Feeney was born. In 2019, Friends of Feeney Inc. became an official 501©(3) nonprofit organization, allowing more funds to be raised and expanding the range of services provided to children and families in need. Today, over a decade since Eric’s idea to build a community organization dedicated to supporting our friends in need, Friends of Feeney has burgeoned into a reputable and recognized organization capable of providing financial and resource support to numerous families and individuals across greater Hartford and beyond. Through this work, an incredible community of children and families has been recognized, who care for and appreciate each other’s kindness.

What is Feeney Talks With Friends?

All right, all right.

Episode 138 FeenEy talks with friends.

Wait.

Or should I say Fuchs talks with friends?

This is your show.

I'm just.

I'm just here, and I'm honored to be here.

Is it friends of Fuchs today?

So we actually,

there was a recommendation
for a promotion in the office

where they wanted to do friends of friends
on Facebook, and I said, absolutely not.

They're like, why? We love
this is great in the restaurant.

Under no circumstances am I going
to be associated that closely with Feeney.

Give me some some degrees of separation.

So we are on the defensive.

Gotcha, gotcha, So here we are.

Feeney talks with friends.

We're going to talk everything
from financial advising

to basketball
to the JCC and everywhere in between.

I'm really looking forward to it again.

My name is Eric Feeney,
founder and president, Friends of Feeney.

Our mission is to help

children and families that need assistance
after heartbreak or tragedy.

And I use this podcast.

Feeney talks with friends,

and I talk to a wonderful people in
the community that are doing great things.

And Ben, you all right?

You you doing all right?

Here's what's coming for you.
I'll be honest. I can see it all.

So first

let it be known that on camera, on mic,
this is the first words of praise

that I've ever been given.

The first time I met you,
what I got was an elbow to yeah, I will

I will take this as a thank you.

Oh, we're going there already.

We're going to go with your show.

I'm just I'm just to do it.

But I want to also shout out our last
episode.

136 Cricket press.
We got a live backstage.

How the printers work.

Greg was, family
small business of the year.

Do you need any manuals,
printer, notebooks?

Do you need pads? Envelopes?

You should see Cricket press. It's
my guy on Park Road.

Great podcast. Go back and check it out.

All right.

Fuchs. No, you brought it up.
That's hilarious.

I got
I got the email to will bring that up.

2016.

But the incident, the elbow incident
I, I know I have that was an incident.

I just don't know.

Oh I sent an apology and everything.

Yeah.

I don't remember the apology.
I just remember the album.

I, I may have seen Red for the first time,
but it's a good five.

Wait. You were.

You're a man of the people that operates,

Cool.

So, as I recall,

there were
we were up by like ten with 30s left

and he has the ball coming. The paint.

I am, of course playing lax defense
because I know we got a win and tilted

there was this elbow

that like extended like
like dad's name and street Fighter right.

The tall skinny do that use his arm
I like that.

That was great analogy.

And it just happened to connect cleanly.

So if you have Poppy on the side,
you know why?

That one
I think that was the introduction.

That was.

Yeah.

That's so funny, because I did
go back in my search history.

January 28th, 2016

regarding last play, Ben,

I want to let you know there was never
any intention to get you in the mouth.

I pump faked and leaned in to draw a foul.

We were down eight and a four point
play would have been a great miracle.

People do it all the time.

The ref should have called it two.

With that said, I want to know.

I want you to know.

After looking back on the play,
I reacted inappropriately and I apologize.

My bad man.

I regret not checking with you
right after it happened.

You had every right to be pissed.

We exchanged words
in the heat of the moment.

I want to apologize and check in with you.

I hope you're feeling
better. This morning.

Let me know, did I?

And you did not respond?

Well, let me just take this opportunity.

No no no no.

Given up again.

I don't know how my jaw could have,

but I apologize, but clearly was,

Yep, yep.

And then so funny. Then in

oh wait, was that.

Then almost a year later, January 26th,

2017.

F you and your season high just after you.

It just as shocked you even hit one jumper
you made like five.

Hashtag lucky.

Was that new to me?

That was me to you.
Oh well, then I'll take it.

Got it. And you know what? That
that's a fair.

That's a fair email.
Given that I didn't respond to you.

Yeah.

Yeah, I think I remember
reading the first, you know,

the one where you're apologizing.
I'm like,

that was that was like, no.

Nope.

Not today I do people
I feel like you really appreciate

the art of holding a grudge like I do.

Because, you know, I feel like it's important to hold on to these things forever.

But now, you know, I'm here on camera.

Yeah. Yep. But, Thank you.

Nine years is a long time
to think on this.

Meditate.

Do you accept my apology?

Accepted. Accept this apology.

You're a good friend, Fuchs.

Well, maybe get back to some JC.

But, again,
thank you for being a good friend.

I'm truly honored to speak with you today.

You, Fuchs
financial has generously supported

our golf tournament two years in a row.

You're an exclusive hole sponsor.

So two years in a row,
you'll see the Fuchs.

You have the entire hole.

So feel free to set up a table,
bring some swag.

It is your whole.
But for two years in a row.

So thank you so much.

Truly means the world to our nonprofit.

Can you golf you cannot have a no

is like I consider myself relative.

Like I wouldn't consider myself
a real athlete.

They're real athletes out there
that played Division one or something

like that.

But I was good enough to be like varsity
in a couple of sports.

I played football in tennis.

Golf is a thing.

I think, but I would rather fight
a grizzly bear than pick up clubs and go,

no, know. It's challenging. It's not easy.

It's definitely,
a mechanical, very mental, physical game.

You know, in basketball,
if you can't shoot, you can rebound.

Or if you can't rebound, you could play D
or you could dive on the floor.

You could, you know,
there's always there's a niche.

I feel like golf I don't know,
maybe it could be a good putter

driver and mid-range game.

But it's point being it's hard to say.

You're a golfer.
You say I golf two weekends in a row.

Actually.

Hawks landing in, Southington
with my old college roommate.

So it was a good time, but we'll have it.

We're having our fourth

annual Friends of Fini golf tournament
at Tunc this September 13th.

Save the date.

We're looking for sponsors.

I want to thank Fuchs again.

Your neighbor of your building in West
Hartford.

Golf is going to be a swag sponsor.

You heard of her? Yeah.

I don't know if you've seen around.

No, no, but she come by it all.

We we like we'll see each other like, two
and from one, the elevator.

And that's about like,
you know, friendly interactions.

Nothing negative to say,
but just not a lot of interaction.

And that's,

you know, we don't really cross paths
and yeah, when you get in a billboard,

so there was an offer, there's a guy
that,

that, super nice
guy who does some of my marketing with me

and he said, I will pay for your billboard

if we can put your last name on there
and say,

does it revives your future with you?

Oh, and I said, that's tempting.

I'm going to pass.

So, I don't have a billboard,

but I hope there's
your via Fuchs with you.

I will just leave that to golf.

She has.

Yeah, she's she's everywhere
and she's very

careful also.

So when you talk about the fourth year
running, the charity golf,

I mean, it seems like your organization
has been able to expand

like you, over the years.

They're like a,

like how many people you've been able
to help like 2020 versus 2025?

Yeah.

Yeah I mean I don't know.

So I know please.

That's great. Great question.
Thanks for asking.

I think I'm not exactly sure.

I know Covid was slow,
but just this month actually,

since 2025 started,
we've already helped 20 families.

We just hit our hundredth family.

So we're very excited.

We've raised over $250,000
and we just helped our hundredth family.

So what what big do you,
Fuchs with that guy?

Well, a hundredth family at

our funeral.

What does that mean?

Like you say,
like I help this family, like. Yep.

So our word of mouth is getting around
so well

that people submit to our email
or to our website page.

And, we have a donation donation
request form where someone would fill out

their information,
the family's information,

the issue or need or medical support.

And then how much youth
they think that would help.

We meet on the board.

The board of directors meet twice a week,
every every other Thursday,

and we discuss future events
and some donations. So.

And we we've never said no, we've said
no, actually to a family in Florida.

It was out of our local.
We're a local charity.

We wish we could have helped.

It was a hurricane, issue in Florida.

But, but that family
that's heard of us in Connecticut,

we wanted to help their brother
in Florida.

Unfortunately, we could not.

But we are helping anywhere from,
you know, Hartford to Waterbury

and everywhere in between.

A lot most a lot of families
come from West Hartford.

We just help the family.

Unfortunately, someone passed away.

A family is having cancer.

The woman works at a pizza place
at the local in town.

Who else do we help?

My good friend from high school.

His house burnt down. Louie.

Thinking of Louis. Great guy.

We just helped him with a check
in donations of Amazon

supplies, like cleaning products
and stuff like that.

But, just trying to help as many people
as you can.

I'm very fortunate, you know?

Teacher, happy career and great job.

I've been helping students
inside the classroom.

Always want to try
to help them outside the classroom.

It's it's a good,

And models
appropriate behavior to my daughters.

You know, we're we're helping others.

So I like to do that.

I'm from a divorce family,
so I knew how it was

not to see my dad every once in a while.

I could never imagine
never seeing him again.

So I empathize with that
first family that that that happened.

Yeah.

Just.

And then we're working in the community,
collaborating with wonderful people like

Direct Line media, like maximum leverage,
like Fuchs Financial.

So great people in the community,
has really bought into our, our mission

and our goals and helping us out are
are you talking about progress and growth?

Our golf tournament, first year, 10,000.

Second year 18,000, I think 25,000.

So the goal this year
30,000 plus, we're already on our way.

So we have gotten
a lot more sponsors so far.

So yeah, thanks again for being exclusive

whole sponsor.

And you brought up a book.

Golf book was a podcast.
Guests go back and check it out.

Number 62, Brook golf, Brook Golf Guide.

You guys, maybe you should do it.
I know you got you got on.

Not the numbers.
Yeah. No. Do you need a job?

Okay. Can you, can I itchy.

Yeah. I didn't get that
fresh tag at that fresh tea.

Yeah, I got the sponsor, you know.

JK, where it all happened.

I mean, you know,
after hearing about everything, you do it,

it almost, almost makes me go back.

On our one on one day.

Have we ever had conversations
about the lead up to the do tell?

Like, do you want to go through?

You have the family of people

like what you said that inspire
this great one on one up that we had?

I mean, as a third grade teacher,
I told you to bring show and tell.

Okay, so, show and tell.

If you could have had the trophy right
now. Yes.

Okay, maybe we'll pull up a picture.

You might have a picture.

I might have a picture time.
I have a picture.

I burnt all those pictures. So.

So you start. Go ahead.

What do you remember?

And I don't have the tax
I didn't go through this year.

I'm just going to go straight
from memory here.

But there was
a there was a text message to

the Eric and I, our product right where,

he may have been running his mouth
or sometimes I do.

Well, I could be type three.

I could do rebellion, whatever I could.

I was really,
I could destroy chips in the post.

And I took exception to that.

Now, granted, it was during Covid.

Nobody had anything else to do.

So became this big, like mash up.

We both, by the way,
we messed up for two weeks ahead of time.

We both tested before the
all the things that we needed to do.

Covid friendly ish.

We had our own bubbles right. Yep.

I may have seen some Iraqi

training videos, but it was the first time
my wife failed me jumping rope in.

Last time I.

And so we set that

up to schedule a time and Shapiro Dave

Shapiro was like, why don't you come over
and practice first?

Because I don't think I picked up a ball.

And you heard he he hired a trainer.

But go ahead, continue the day

I shot in his driveway

before going to somebody else's yard.

And after a Dave, shall we take like,
four jump shots?

He's like,
if you do that during the game, I'm

going to come down there
and punch you in the face. Yep.

And I said, really?

He's like, absolutely, you can't lose this

or that okay.

And I don't
I think like I wasn't all that nervous,

but Dave was nervous for me
because I had lost to the amount of,

for the rest of my
it might be more than anyone.

I would have made t shirts.

I would have made t shirts.

We'd be talking a totally different way.

I would have started off.

I remember when I remember
when I beat you,

it was about 11 to 5, give or take.

And not knowing this,
you might have gotten to

you. You
did back me down, but not realizing

you got two inches on me and maybe

50 pounds 40 pounds made easy.

So you two 4250 was

I want to say so

before Covid, I was like to 25 to 230.

Okay.

At that point during Covid,
I was probably back and forth.

Okay.

Right now, about 245 solid muscle,
all steel, all steel,

all steel.

The cameras from from the neck.

Yes, yes.

These cameras don't add
15 like TV cameras either, but no. Bad.

And you bringing that up? You had to.

We're already there. Already?
How many minutes? In 20 minutes.

He's bringing in the

Feeney versus Fuchs.

There was a trophy made.

There was a trophy made.

Ty has the trophy.

Maybe we'll get the.

We'll put the trophy right
here. I'll find it. Boom.

I would have it on my shoulder
the entire time.

I would have worn
it around my neck like, oh,

you know, so it's not a big deal.

We played at near his house.

Never.

Ty showed up.

Was Billy there?

And I remember, I remember.

So you hired a trainer one.

And then you also brought a coach

because Shapiro was like,
back them down, back them down.

And it was just like grinding me out
boom, boom, boom, you know?

And I was just like you said,
you could take me in.

I 100% said it.

I'm not going to take less and learn.

Lesson learned.

I thought you wanted a rematch.
I thought that was a whole.

We're going to Facebook
live, stream a rematch.

I'm going to have to get like, Rocky five
and just start running

through the mountains
with a stick picker. Reverse. Rocky.

That was machine gun, not on Drago.

I just, did I messed that up? Yeah.

Okay. That's okay.

That's my favorite.

Rocky number five didn't exist.

So forget I mentioned that farm football.

No, that's my boat.

But Rocky is like, you know,
my dad is a rabbi, my brother a rabbi.

But Rocky is pretty much like the Bible,
you know, much.

So it's it's not holy for us
to see somebody in that so many times.

But yes, I love it.

That's what we
do. But, which one's your favorite

and why is it 3 or 4?

Yeah.

Amazing. Clubber Lang okay.

Which is what I think I might have said to
before we started our one.

I'm remember, that's one.

So I know what I can really enjoy.

You know Rocky man.

All right. You mentioned it.

So, my favorite Rob
Rabbi is Stephen Chat.

And over favorite rabbi.

Who's your favorite rabbi?

Okay, I'm hoping you were saying
that my brother is awesome.

I mean, I would say

my father and my brother, my whatever,
but on the basketball court,

I like that numbers. Absolutely. There.

With also the exception being my father.

So I don't know if you ever had
this experience.

My father, when we were play basketball,
basically did to me

what I did to you when I you mentioned
that to you one on one. So

things and my brother and I

would call it the old, like, maneuver
and take the ball and turn around

and he was just like a mack truck
just beeping the entire time

until right into the.

Welcome to my world.
For 11 points in a row.

That's what I got.

I was so.

That way.

Revisionist history.

Is your podcast?

No. That I,

So he was bigger than you.

He he backed you down.

And then once I hit puberty, like

there was no one like you wouldn't
pay me anymore.

And that was.

So is that where you learned
the swinging left elbow hook square

to clear out offensive foul line?

I should have called that in his driveway.

There was. No. I never hit you with that.

When you hit me with the other, I
there was one time I was like, all right.

And I looked like I checked with Coach
Shapiro.

I'm like, I'm just going to hack them.

If you're going to back me down, back,
just win.

You know, really good hack.

He would have been probably a flagrant
in Nia's driveway.

And and Shapiro was like, all right.

But I'm like,
we can't do this 50 times in a row.

Shapiro
said, I knew you were going to win.

When he asked you.

I remember him saying that.

That for you.

Yeah, I that's that's okay.

So I mean, you know, we
it was when I said, oh,

when it comes to the guy, I mean,
if we're talking about basketball, I think

and I hate to ask this, but last season
you were a captain, right? Yep.

How would you rate your abilities
as a captain?

I mean, I don't measure, like,
you know, your team, the league, right?

Wow. I'm just asking questions.

This is my podcast, remember?

Continue. I'm glad you brought this up.

No, I mean, like,
because I have the rosters.

Oh, okay. Good. I deserve that all.

I feel like like it's important to
to make people human, right?

Yeah. You know, Eric Peters is great.

I mean, so we're okay.

He's not perfect every time.

No, no. Great example. All right. Agreed.

Are we going to talk about
last season two or just this season?

The season was just how about.

No. Okay. Just this

we made.

So you remember the last season
that was on a we were holding.

Yeah.

Wait, you won two years in a row?

I well, I don't want your season zero
to winters in a row.

You won two winters in a row with Alexis.

Both times with Alexis. Yes.

I and, I don't get to talk about myself
because I'm not.

I'm not, but I didn't go ahead.

And did you have did you have game high

19 season average, like four points
a game.

And I got 19 in that game
because that was the one game that my wife

decided to to bring all the kids
and I like I didn't miss a shot.

It was amazing.

I played out of my mind.

I was at about the very next game.

So be it.

Hey, but game on.

The line versus tie.

You hit back to back threes.

You hit a total of three threes.

I mean I didn't even know
you could spell the word three.

Yeah.

And and you and you hit three threes and
they were nothing but net top of the key.

Swish I was like you must have
said your prayers that morning. Yes.

Did your dad rabbi bless you that morning.

We don't do the cross okay. That was bad.

That was bad.

I don't know if you know
how bad I can do the cross.

But no, that's not because of that.

That was the best way.

Suspect to Jesus.

But it just wouldn't be with this cross.

I like to say that this. No,

no, no, no, this

is just the nondenominational podcast
to get in trouble.

Man, I few out here spewing
want to try to live that moment.

So you can't get blessed.

Be blessed is not.

So there is a blessing, that my father
would give to me every Friday.

And I get to, like it.

But that that just do

turn lights off
and no electricity for Shabbat, you know?

Do you have the thing
built in your backyard

that you go and eat,
like the the hot. Yep.

Yep. And we do build it.

So that.

How do they get out of here
and I like it's just an activity

where we can do something together to mean
basically the kids will, like,

look at me
as I'm doing all the work by myself.

And then the three year olds

who an not before
you will come over like steel nails.

I'm about to put in. Perfect.

Yeah.

You know, bonding, family
bonding at its best.

They've definitely never heard me
say any words.

And, I, by the way,
I don't know if you know this about me.

I'm not the construction
guy, but that's okay.

So. No.

Did you.

Did you know Rabbi means teacher?

If if what you're getting to is.

I know you want me to call you rabbi.

You know,
I wasn't going that angle, but you.

That'd be awesome.

Did you bring a kippah for me?

I did not, because I, you know, listen,
everybody has their own interpretation.

I think, like,

people say, that they cover their head
when they're in the presence of God.

And so they were like people when they go
to synagogue or something all the time.

I would rather let
my ten year old be kind of my girl.

So I think it's important
to allow that to happen.

So I don't cover it all. Yeah.

Rabbi chatting over episode 54

was I wrote these down, actually,

but it was really, I learned a lot
because he wears the kippah all the time.

Obviously wears it on the court, wears
it to the grocery store, and he does that

because when he's walking in an aisle

and if someone sees him,

they're more comfortable asking for help
because they know he's a rabbi

or he's representing,
this culture in this religion for that's,

you know, that's positive

to have.

They got eternal life.

But I thought that was also true
of the number success.

But let me not but yes.

So yeah.

He said, and then my friend
Matt, former camp director, said,

I found that so interesting
because Matt wears his too,

and he didn't really realize
why he did it.

But Rabbi, on my podcast exclusive

allowed him to, you know, reflect and say,
oh, that's awesome.

That's why I wear my kippah.

And if you're wearing a hat,
you don't have to wear it like you have

in your heads covered, and you should
wear it while you're eating, right?

No. Oh, you're not really big into that.

Your dad

hate to disappoint you.

Yeah,
but I know my my feelings on religion,

I care.

That we're doing the right things.

And I feel like as a Jew,
I feel like, you know, our goal

is to try to make the world
a better place.

And the people around me

make sense, which is to.

And, you know,
I think that inherently that's,

you know, that's what we're here for.

And I think a lot of the other stuff
as well, personally,

I think that sometimes
we use physical things

to remind us of what we think
and put on to keep our people right there.

And, and I respect that.
And I think that's wonderful.

Take anything away from that.

It's just not where I am.

And, you know, I give my kids
the framework of what I believe

and then you do what you want, right?

I'm not I don't want you to be
so unvaccinated into how I feel.

I want you to think for yourself
and to are you.

And I think so much of what I like about
Judaism is the question of,

why are we doing this?
Why does this make sense?

Does this make sense for me?

And I think it's okay
to have those questions and to do it.

Your life.

Awesome.

Now you know the Venn diagram,
the two circles

we have Rabbi Steve and your dad.

Do they overlap?

Do you see compare and contrast?

Except when I was in high school,
there was.

Yeah.

So they were both teach classes there
and that was a big deal.

But I don't like, you know,
they they, we I think a lot of times

you see more overlap in the rabbis
when they disagree.

And so they, you see them get together

because they're like,
you know, they doing their little debates.

And, but I'm not a whole lot because

John Lyons, he's like the local weatherman
on Facebook and stuff.

You know, him.

131 I think his daughter's
you don't feel great with the weather.

131 the neighbors, friends and neighbors,
I think, his daughters did

bat mitzvah,

but but with your dad,
I think he mentioned

because I on the podcast 131
I go, hey, future guests.

Fuchs.

And he's like, oh, it's his dad, a rabbi.

And I was like, yes.

And he's like, I think my daughter's
connected with them. So.

So not all the.

But the amazing thing about my father is
I just about anybody he's ever

before, he will still remember 2 or 3

that he had them
remember to ask him about it.

One, two, three, four
that he decades later.

So Aaron Goldman, had dinner
with the other night,

in his mid 30s.

He says the last time that I saw

your dad on Facebook,
he asked me what some people were.

It was like, you know,

and, you know, I still have to remember it
because he continues to ask, right.

So that's awesome. I, I

able but that's

I you know, I respect
that is now what's you brought up Aaron.

What's his plus minus
playing with Ty or playing without Ty.

So I respect what you're trying to do.

And so there's a thing called the West.

And what you try to do is drive
a wedge between two teammates.

And one of the ways that you do that
is asking, seemingly innocuous questions.

Okay, you can plead the fifth
because I have another question.

I would say that his
his shots per game are up and down.

He scored 14 I think it was last year.

And, you know, technically

a lot of shots
that people would choose to pass.

Passers by.

Oh, yes.
Oh, pass first. You heard it here.

What minute are we for?

The pass first.

What about that?

You know,

and so he creates I like he's,
I think it might be that he.

I think it might be that he.

No. Amazing longevity camera bar.

You ever go over there?

Aaron's, family business.

That's an amazing spot.

We got our camera there.

My mother daughter camera there.

Anybody that I ever know
that ever should buy

a camera should buy it,
and then they know what they do.

Yeah, I told him
I want to do a podcast with with them.

They're. It's been there for 50 years.

It's like a staple
of the Hartford community about it. So I

and he showed me around
how like they do the bars

and the windows,
they used to welcome people in.

That's why, I guess, what was Camera Bar?

They used to like hang out,
not to drink or anything,

but like to hang out
and talk camera stuff.

And then they had to do away with that.

But just an amazing.

And then all the older cameras,

all the progression of the years of like
you could see the changes.

Great guy.

Great great,
great family in Camera bar. Yes.

Buy your cameras from the camera bar.

So we talked rabbis.

Oh, so you're a financial advisor?

I teach third grade. Okay.

Can you explain being a financial advisor
to a third grader

when somebody retires
and they stop working,

they need to replace the money that

help them
replace it with the investments that we

boom.

Now, there's a lot that goes into that,
right?

There's taxes and Social Security,
income planning and recessions

and all of the things that people worry
about from an exaggerated standpoint.

And our goal is to kind of take
that weight off of their shoulders

and put it on ourselves,
because this is all the time.

I mean, how can you get a paycheck

and not have to worry about it

and figure out
how to navigate all this stuff

and then we show and we educate
like we'll take our word for it.

I'm a big believer in like,
you know, being behind the curtain and

and here's what you have. Here's
why we're doing it.

You have to agree with the boss
before you let us make money.

It's crazy because I have
people come to me with like,

rollover checks from here.

Take this my friends up. This is what
I have to do when I become a client.

I said, hey, look like, let's like,
let's make sure you like us first.

Let's let's have the conversation.

But, that's what would be interesting.

All right. Financial advisor. So,

Oh, I got some sponsors.

So let me shout out some spots.

Keating agency float 41.

Oh, the fix I've I meant to mention
before we played the fix the

the Fuchs versus Feeney one on one
I went and got a fix.

Remember I sent you the video on
I don't think I want anybody.

It didn't work, but I felt great.

You know what? I did a 41 before that.

Oh come on.

Did you eat a Luna pizza after I.

No, said I.

Golf law group,

people's bank, Parkville management, West
Hartford lock maximum beverage and Sally

and Bob's West Hartford lock did the locks
for my office and for my house.

And those people are the reason
they're great.

Professor Eric Brown, Sock Breaker
episode 40.

If you're wondering
at home, that one I know

that one.

I didn't have the right down.

Louder, louder next time.

Yeah. Eric Brown
and you're a great people.

They run a golf tournament every year
at tumble Brook for their company,

and they invite their friends
and, employees and,

clients,
and they do our little raffle and,

whatever proceeds
they give to friends of Feeney.

So thank you, Eric.
Great people with that.

Yeah. You're coming.

You, but I will,
I think I think what would be

great has to do that charity one on one.

And then maybe you should like,

bring somebody back and actually.

Okay, okay,

look, I'm
trying to get Brian Gomes on the podcast.

Maybe I'll.

Maybe I'll have him

in your future studio.

Fuchs versus Feeney,

I so I'll tell you,
like, I started the company.

And I

to me, like, financial planning is

giving yourself
enough power to have control.

You know, I,
I think that's really important.

So if, if your boss is being a jerk

and you realize that nobody
should listen to this person

and you want to walk away, it's
knowing that you can actually walk away

not having to be so demanding
that paycheck.

That's right.

I've got other options.
I can kind of just myself. Softball.

I've got I'm comfy
and I have the ability to walk away.

When I started, for example,
I was working for another company

and my daughter is four

and I was having a conversation.

If you want to be,

and he was talking to me in a way
that if he was talking to my daughter,

I hope that she would get a

no matter how much money she was making,
what the circumstances

were to have enough respect for herself

to be able to get up and go.

And when I had that thought,
my daughter was here, that I would be.

And I have to lead by my own example
and get up and go.

And that was when I basically was like,
I'm not worth anybody else.

I'm going to try this myself.

I'm going to take the time,
throw it on the way.

Very exciting stuff.

A little bit terrified.

And I started with April 2019,

and the only way

that I was able to get in business,
because I was so afraid to do anything

that the other company didn't, I didn't
want to do anything that I wouldn't do.

I wouldn't do anything
the way that they did it.

So I only did library workshops,
which I had never, ever done this on a

great and all of a sudden,

like, you know, typically takes two years
for business to break even for people.

Nine months. Awesome.

And then, it was March of 2020 Covid hit.

Couldn't do libraries anymore.

I remember within the first library said,

hey we can't have you come in
because we're closed.

It's like, oh man,

what am I going to do?

Because now the third one is anyway, so

oh man, I meant 2019.

Now I was just going to ask
and now you have Middletown,

West Hartford, Middlebury, mystic.

That's awesome. You got an exclusive.

You got any other ones coming up?

Oh. You want that?

Come on, give me an exclusive.

No, no, no we do.

I was looking to extend it,
but I think what I'd like to do is

I feel like

every other company
that I've been at or around,

they always try to treat new people
better than they're going to be.

Like. It's all.

It's all about trying to acquire
new people and the mindset of what?

Instead of taking care of the people
that have the mindset.

For me right now,
we just want to make sure

that we're taking excellent
care of the people that we already have.

Right.

Mutual friend Jeff.

Right.

Who does your taxes? Right.

Lucky to have him I would not the table
that I'd get in trouble.

So I'm learning I'm not doing that

but if it was brought on in January
this year so that we could do our clients

taxes, us and for the majority of them
didn't charge anything

because it was just a service
that we want to be able

to take better care
of our existing people.

And we were tired. Income.

What are your taxes?
You're coming from us anymore.

Like you got Social Security.

But yeah, I agree
with all the stuff that we affect

tax taxes so we can have in one place

if we can have easy communication between
us, it makes life easier for our clients.

That was the goal. Yeah.

So before we go any more,
I want to make sure that we're able

to really warm up our process
and make sure we're comfortable for one.

And that's that's awesome.

Jeff Singer just taxes.

He does my taxes.

Great guy.

I thought I was, his daughter's teacher
recommended that I have to say before

I go,

you should check him out because I said,
nah, he's just kick them under the table.

I haven't done it.

I think he knows.

Maybe I know why, but no, he let me in.

We were in your.
We were in your office at 8 p.m..

I was eating all the snacks.

Your beef jerky, your chips.

I drank all the seltzers.

I moved around your bobblehead of Bob
Ross took about a handful of pens.

Thank you.

Don't drink from all your mugs.

You actually had the entire office?

Yeah. What?

I also asked Jeff to write down everything
you know.

So you'll be getting those.

Thank you in advance.

We'll send it to Eric.

We're not friends.

I think we're all good.

I, I but but no.

Jeff Singer, great person. What?

All right. Our motto. Be a good friend.

Pick up trash. Hold the door.

Give a compliment. Be charitable.

What makes Jeff Singer a good friend?

We had a client

before he became a board

last year

who had done something wrong
with their table ties.

They filled out something wrong,
and because of that,

they weren't going to get an exemption
that they needed because it showed

that they made too much.

Jeff showed up to their house

April 15th, which is tax day at 6 p.m.,

to walk them through what they had done,
figure it out,

and make sure that they were on the right.

I don't think that you meet a lot of human
beings, especially accountants,

in the middle of the last year
and tax season,

when you clearly have so much going on

to be able to take time just to help out
somebody you've never been before.

Great guy.

Thank you, Jeff Singer,
for being a good friend.

Well, he did mine at 8 p.m. on a Sunday.

Does that count?

That a good friend.

Oh, okay.

Forgot about that part, I'm guessing.

I don't know, you didn't tell me,
but that would be my guess.

And. Oh, back to West Hartford lock.

Watch what I do here.

What are three keys that make you

a great financial advisor? For.

Well, I mean, here I'm talking a lot,

but the first thing we have to do
is listen,

so many people

just want to come in and be like,
okay, let me tell you.

How can I help you if I don't understand

what you're trying to accomplish?

Everyone's different anyway, so listen,

first to.

We stand by what we do.

Think that.

Yeah, I think so many people

just want to give an answer and then

you just us.

You got to be able to follow through on
what you do.

You got to be able to show people
that you all who you say you are.

And then

number three.

We bring everything together.

We don't just focus on one aspect.

Right.

It's not just this investment

or this mutual fund
for this stock, for this whatever. Yes.

How does this work
with your Social Security,

with your taxes, their statements,
all those things have to come by.

And if you just look at one out
of those four, two, they don't intersect.

And you're not doing the right thing
for people.

You have to put all those pieces together.

And, I know I talk about it,
and I got some people talking about what

I like to call it, a Lego set, because
she's never put the wrong person on a Lego

straight nails.

I'm like, that's that's what it is.

Sometimes when you do the wrong thing
with the whole time of financial time.

So we want to make sure
we're building right pieces.

Good.

Listen, now people don't know this, but

buddy building Markowitz. Yes.

Bikes. You allowed to jump on?

Of course, of course.

Let me ask you, though.

Maybe he had his shine already.

He had his time on, episode.

What's your episode, Billy?

He goes 107.

Let's see.

1071 17. Can we.

I got 127 here, Billy.

Come on.

Now, dude,
you started swimming after I was that.

That's what it was.
I swam two days in a row.

Boys at the gym half a mile yesterday,
half a mile this morning.

You know, the great shark.

What a difference the J makes.

I'm down to 208.

Well, I used to be 220.

My knees are feeling better.

So when I hit your one on one
I only had like 20 pounds.

Yes, because you make
it sound like I'm 50, so we're sort of 82.

You thought I was 270 or at that point
in time I think I was 220 ish.

So I also had some elbows on me.

Yeah, but you made it seem like two 20s.

So you were about 40, 20 000.

You know, we haven't gone there,
but we played one on one.

Were you there for that?

You were there.

What was it?

We. I don't know why you want me to bring.

Yeah.

We're going to live stream a rematch
Facebook fundraiser here, so we have time.

Time? Okay.

You can you can do the color commentary.

We'll give you the money
now. True or false?

Can can you talk
openly on how the market is right now?

Today?

So today

the S&P 500 actually went positive
for the year.

And the reason that that happened
is because you brought me. Yes.

The S&P 500 is up a 10th of a percent
as of the.

And at one point it was down like 15%.

I gave crazy tonight.

And so

so can I predict what happens next?

I'm not that cool of crystal ball.

But I can learn from the situation.

And that's what we do
is make sure that no matter what happens,

we have a plan
for what we know how to play.

And that's what the anxiety fixing.

Oh man,
I should have done this a while ago.

I should have talked to somebody.

No, that's what we have to worry about it.

The reason that I haven't lost
more of my hair just because we have.

I know you look a little gray right here.

Right.

But I
tell you about my daughter this morning.

I just put on a coffee table,
while I was sitting on the couch.

This is a dad.

Dad. She's like a,
you know, ten going on 15.

You should really start losing your hair.

Oh, thank you so much for that kind of.

Yeah. Daughters are the best like that.

I appreciate your honesty.

So, you know, I'm happy to have the great.

My daughters once said.

Hey, dad, put your hair down.

What's your bald spot look like today?

C and S or a J.

I would show the camera, but let's not.

But yeah, kids, daughters.

Especially to to their dads love them.

Yeah, but man, no.

And so how are you feeling
talking on camera?

I know you're nervous.
You don't do that often, right?

I, you know, I mean, it's it's
intimidating right in front of you.

So welcome to the pod.

I noticed on your website
you said as seen on

Ctmc channel three,

TCI 1080 news, channel eight.

Are we going to get a beanie Talks
with friends logo up there?

As seen. Can we add that to the website?

Well, since you're asking
me, am I asking too much?

Yeah, right.

That's right.

That's a no.

That's the best way to get a it's
supposed to be get a yes.

Yeah, absolutely.

That'd be awesome.

That'd be awesome.

And true or false. Confirm or deny.

We have chief financial
guest on the website.

Deal? Deal.

I have to negotiate. Okay. Yeah.

You know, I got a I was told to.

This is the chairman of the board. Matt.

I'm not looking at you, Billy.

Ben Fuchs, you missed it.

We've been. He's
been talking a lot of trash.

Thank you.

I got some backup now.

So confirm or deny.

Do you film?

You have a TV show you have to do? It
airs weekly Sundays, right?

Or Saturday nights?

Saturday nights, 7 p.m. NBC.

If I'm about lucky Derby or,

you know, did
you get bumped for the run of the roses?

How dare they?

Like, why would anybody want to see
those massive hacks? Is that right?

Financial?

Do what you get.

The greatest two minutes in sports.

They wanted to,

bump you.

Well, you have your biggest fan
here, Billy.

Send screenshots
of all of your times on the TV.

Marty,
because I have them pulled up and there's,

like, one active viewer
and I'm like, Billy, thank you.

Not the best is once
I go to, like, a yard, goats event,

bow ties and baseballs, I go to the bar
to get a drink and I look on the screen.

And who do I see ruining my evening?

Enhancing?

You. You're welcome.

Where was I? Yep.

This is it. The Yard Goats game.

Look at that.

Look at you at the bar.

That's the one. There's two today.

I go,

then there's there's another one.

Oh, how you retired.com, is that you?

That's me.

That's that's, so that's the website that
you can go to if you want a,

a taxi business,

but taxes and income.com
is really the main site.

So if you want to add taxes and income

because too many people were misspelling
views.

So we, we went with this.

I don't know how you could do it
with taxes going to come back down here

for the community. Yeah.

And your number, you could be reached
at Fuchs financial.com

and (860) 775-4490.

I don't even know that number had

(860) 461-1709.

That could also be true.

Is that your cell phone
that you just gave or.

Okay, I was going to say because if you
gave myself what I, I got your cell phone.

Stick around to the end.

I'm Sharon Fuchs cell phone.

So you and his address.

So I swear to God,
I came here like, two minutes late.

I was going to be here at 429.

I should have at 432
because I was in the Starbucks next door.

And as I'm getting in my car to leave,
somebody pulls like,

this is how you get out.

Somebody pulled right in front of me

and like, hey, are you that financial
that I'm like, yeah.

And ask me like, I'm not happy.

Like, no, I'm I'm happy with what?

I'm like, oh man, I don't want to be late
for this podcast.

Like I give hard enough time to then sure.

It's just purely disrespectful.

I don't want to do that.

So I apologize for being two minutes late,
but I did.

Interesting. Did you give him your card?

I did, that's very cool.

He recognized Joe recognizable face.

This guy is weird because I don't feel
like I'm that like, I don't.

I mean, between golf and bend,
which is interesting because they share.

Yeah, well, I let her

so they.

Bruce came to us and was like,
you know, you're okay with it.

Very.

I was going to say,
I thought, you're going to Starbucks.

Lady pulled out
and you saw a magnet on her car.

No, no, no.

So what I do
is I carry with me a spray paint.

So every time I see a good friend,
I just want to enhance the border.

Nice, nice.

You can get these now.
These are our fundraiser.

We did a mural at Parkville
Market at the local,

and they're being sold
at the Daily Ground in Farmington.

But as you can see, it's a starry night
theme.

Vincent van Gogh.

So thank you to our friends Zoe,

Jack, Teagan
and Hannah and Julie from Rise Up Murals.

They help us do this.

We'll share a link,
but these are some cool new.

Maybe you'll buy one, shoot
the lock off your wallet and buy a magnet.

Fuchs will. I just said that.

That's true. Oh.

Oops. Oops oops
I you're right, you're right.

Okay, can I get alligator?

All right.

Back to confirm or deny.

Do you film your show in Arizona? So.

And how does that work?

I film,

yes, but. So

breaking news, we actually have finished

or are in the process of finishing
the studio in our little town office

so that I will not have to fly down
to Arizona anymore,

because it used to be like,
oh cool, I get a break and now

my daughter will hug my like the one
that's two likes me and a three year old.

So hug my leg.

Don't go big.

The guilt of leaving every time.

And it's like two days, but it's still,
you know, where did you go?

So we do film in Arizona.

There's a great studio, down there
that we were able to use

where we can film that,
and they have a production crew in there.

So it's it's really cool.

But, shout out to to go to Greenlight
Productions.

Adrian Gallagher,
she is, the one that's going

to be filming the show
and we're really excited about that.

And you're going to host in Middletown.

You have quite
the playhouse in that Middletown office.

Arcades, pinball?

No. Pinball ball arcade, though.

Pool table, ping pong table.

Come on, man, I got singer.

Show me pictures.

First of all, check the pictures.

I will show what there is.

There is a there is a basketball
pop shot here for that man.

Listen, I have a midlife crisis.

Know didn't we? All right?

And instead of buying, like,
the convertible, to show off my life,

I decided that
it would be more cost efficient

and fun to buy the time. And.

Yeah, time is like.

So we have.

I tell you what we have
because I can visualize.

Well, we have air hockey,
you know, and, like a coffee shop. Yep.

We have skee-ball.

We have side by side,

car racing and, kind of, I suppose,

because nothing is more fun than talking
trash to your eight year old son

as you are destroying him on my,

And then we also have
this old school. Yes.

We got there and

and so it's just art.

They do just like the big screen.

And it has every arcade game from 1982
to like 2005.

Street fighter two, NBA jam,

I'm coming over middle.

I mean, you know, all kinds of like contra
upupdowndown left.

They start.

Okay.

Yeah, yeah. So weird. I mean, it's a.

Oh, and can we give a shout out
to one of my advisors at the asthma?

He lost it to the last show
on Mike Tyson's.

Oh, and I didn't know that
that could actually happen.

Don't say that.

So I'm Eddie, I was, Alex cow.

It's kind of one of ours.

Was just got a CFP. Amazing.

With Gina Mazara.

Been an advisor
with us for five years now.

It's crazy.

So we're we're very
lucky to have two people. So.

CFP, I meant to mention it.

What does that mean?

What acronym

like financial planner. Got you.

What's CP?

WA? She is a certified title.

And she would have said you also have
to say the professional after.

So she professional
not my rules their rules.

And I just want to lose a licensed
like I go by the rules and that one was

made me like you know a specifically
the people out of $5 million.

And I

and I hesitate to say that stuff
because we don't need to have one of the

problems to become a client at all.

We don't have limits at all.

We can help.

But it was interesting
because there are a lot of like,

tax pieces and estate planning pieces
that I did not know before that

can be applied to plenty of
people, so I like that one.

Middletown offices.

What about the Middlebury office?

Do you ever go to Quasi Lake, quasi
Park out there?

Middlebury apparently, no.

I feel like I should tell me about Lake.

You should bring your kids.

It's like it was Six Flags before.

Six flags.

Well, it's
that that's that side of town. Six flags.

It's the Waterbury Six Flags
I grew up going to quarter night,

quarter hot dogs, quarter soda and coffee.

You eat so much, and you fall
and you spin around, and then and

and finish school.

Reverse reversal of fortune. Yes.

I actually went to Six Flags on Easter,

so it was great because that's smart.

You got nothing else to do.

There was no lines.

It was like the best day.

So for all of you, it was open

smart Chinese on Christmas
I think was also 5 to 6 back on Easter.

That's the through.

You heard them.

You heard me. I don't know if I should.
We put a sign up at the.

Yes. Did they not. They don't

I won't mention. Who's that.

No they do not yet.

Yet keyword.

No. Rachel Metzger.

How's she doing?

She's great.
So you guys got a good little.

Now, who's got better report?

Me and you or you and Rachel

going back and forth. Yeah.

So, I mean, close, it's really close, but.

And what do I have to do
to get her on the podcast?

Good luck.

I couldn't
I out like the Rachel puts up with me.

Like I was like,
oh, Rachel, just come on the show.

You can ask me questions.
She's like, no, no.

I'm like, what do you mean?

I mean, it just asked me, like,
any questions?

Like,
I don't know about financial planning.

I am a professional you have to give me.

We're going to have a show.

You can't just have me out there
as they asked me stuff.

So I was like, oh,
we need to actually, like plan this out.

I didn't realize that
we had to have structure, I just, I did

you have topic and script
and yeah, do practice rounds.

No, no
I don't because I like to be off the.

Yeah.

Like I don't want to be practiced.

Yeah.
Some idea of what I want to talk about.

I have some concept
but I like to give out topics.

We'll give out ideas.

I want to give her enough class
so she's good in ask.

But I don't want to do outside.

Yeah. No, she's super cool.

She host. Actually,
I heard her on the way over

River 159.

Your ride home, Rachel. Oscar.

And I was like, hey,
I'm going to bring that up.

And I saw her at the Brook
Golf Christmas party.

Okay?

And I talked with, I think I said, hey,
what are you going to be a podcast guest?

And what's her husband do?

Is you like a cop or something
like, oh, whoops.

And she does a show with you.

Yeah. Oh, boy.

So I said, I said, listen, first of all,
have you met him?

Yeah, he's a big dude.

He's a big he's he's he bigger than you.

He was better.

No he's a big boy.

So first of all, he's a great guy. Yeah.

Gave him a big, obviously,
with that, okay.

A little different room, right?

They do like, we,
we like, you know, your Venn diagram.

We overlap a little bit, but not a lot.

You and I had a conversation,
so if you guys want, like,

ever, you need to have an industry.

But I'm a big fan of,
you know, he was a cool guy.

Mean handshake, big boy.

But I chatted him up at the Brook
Golf Christmas party,

like, you know, like he could like
like I was a wishbone.

I mean, and it's out of.

I think he's in the Hall of Fame at all.

I want to say you live with your foot.

I believe that's what it is for. What?

Oh come on. Yeah, he's a big dude.

I was going to say powerlifter.

It could have been the, shotput.

It could have been anything
because he's a big boy.

Yeah, no, I would if I had to fight him,
which is like what?

I got into politics. Like,
what would I do?

Immediately go to the.

Yeah, the shins.

And I'm running like, run, run like kick.

Is that memory allowed?

Okay, so shout out to the J.

We're going to name some ballers here.

Now are you better them in court

or financial advising
because Evan Gilchrist

55 he's a

financial
planner and the deejay episode 55

John Decker

Baller, financial planner.

Episode 65.

Is there one that you'd like to discuss?

Who who's better on the court
or off the court?

Who has?

I ask all the tough question.

Rachel doesn't ask
those kind of questions.

Not what Rachel would have. The up.

Rachel's never been like.

You know, Ben, I want to watch you
play in the oh, torture.

Great thrilling stuff.

But, Evan Gilchrist has sneaky good
laughs.

You know finishes better
throw money and Decker who is 55.

Yeah just turned it I think you still play

a 40 minute game.

Incredible shape.

He's a marvel and he's he's great.

Better returns. Good idea.

But that's what I mean
respectfully it's not the goal.

I'm not going to have two clients
and one's going to have better

returns than the other
because they give me a different stuff

based on what they want.

That's not like a fair comparison.

I think the better question is
if you're going to compare a business,

which I don't want to be compared to those
who both work for human beings, but

it did.

They do what I asked them to do.

If I told them that I will save them,
I want to go through,

you know, whatever was progressive,
I want to come out here just I want,

you know, I want to save money in taxes.

Did they tell you they do it in the,

I think that's where we.

Yeah, that's a good answer.

Very diplomatic way to answer.

You could have took
a lot of different angles about that.

What does that mean?

You should have over is tap dancing.

I feel like I did a good job of that.

You tapped around it perfectly.

So before we move on
because we're getting close to the end.

Anything that I missed on
financial planning.

Anything you like to share.

Anything you'd like to add?

Yeah.

There's no one. Is.

I think that

people want to gravitate towards house.

Everything should be in stocks.
Everything should be mixed funds.

Everything should be in bonds.

Everything should be in the movies.

Everything should be respected.

I disagree with all of that.

I think the best of For Everything.

And there's a

we shouldn't dismiss any type
of investment because of the name of it.

And you should see if that investment
makes sense for us.

Sometimes,

like I think we dismiss any charity
just because it's expensive to

write.

I shouldn't just not give to that base
because of who's running it.

Right. I should look at the work
that they're actually doing.

And do they do the things that they say
they do and have they actually helped

100 families? That's amazing. Right.

Let's let's make sure that we're given
the right.

Let's just love it.

Well, Billy's a great don't donation.

He's a good friend on and off the court.

Right Bill.

He tries it
just all the more for being a good friend.

And Billy's
podcast has like 300 plus views.

Fuchs.

Oh, I he's going to be me.

Okay, you know what's underrated?

Not only Billy's, good friends,
but also his his barbecuing skills.

Oh, right.

There is that barbecue later.

Two weeks.

Two weeks. Yeah.

He's got he's got some things to do.
And then he's invited over.

We we try to invite him ourselves
over the other day.

Yeah.

I will say like the,
the the chair of the furniture.

This is okay.

Yeah. Yep. Propane tank. Yes. Oh. Okay.

So right after this will be going to go.

Yep. We're going over there
right down the street. So

do you feel like

what drafting.

I was a captain this year.

However do you do you ever answer the
question of how your team Billy's hair.

Billy was on that team
a couple years ago, but

we were all in 14 oh, two years ago.

Oh, for winter, two years ago
this year, I think we won four games.

We finished the three in a row.

I scored 19 in the finale.

That's awesome for me right here at the J.

In two years

I was I was 14, 28

cool or four and do the math for today.

All right. Hold on.

Let's see. Hold on a second.

So no, these are these are cute pictures.

When you won I just had a question.

Seeing that we're bringing stuff up.

This yellow one
there's there's a great team here.

There's Seth,

recruits.

Ty, Ben that,

Jason Ryan and, LaSalle.

Is that LaSalle? Vessel?

Vassal. Vassal. Aaron.

Doctor. Vessel. Excuse me.

And why are you still family?

Can we zoom in on Ben?

Is he flexing
and holding his back in this picture?

Can you you did you let out any

any huge exhale after this picture

was taken to the neck
veins in your neck? Or.

You know what?

When I, when I, when I got the opportunity

to play basketball, I just, you know, I get excited I and then there's another one.

This is the real reason you want to the.

Oh, you're you're hoisting Ty.

You shouldn't even count
that championship.

You just piggybacked on Ty.

Piggybacked on Ty, and then. Hold on.

You got the blue one. Oh, okay.

That. Oh, then.

Oh, you.

You near Aaron?

Jim? Yeah.

Alex Frankel, who was MVP.

Some other dude.

And look again,
I don't know if you're flexing, but you're

I mean, you're not holding your breath,
but you're relaxing.

G you know why I would because I was over
I happen I just happened to be.

Congrats
to Fuchs Financial for winning 2022

of Winter Vets League.

Entire city.

We won. What year did we win?

Even wanted to make 19.

Maybe,

I have three championships.

How many do you have?

How long have you been playing? 16 years.

I it's, how many titles without a title?

Yo. Good one.

Okay, that's two out of three.

No. We already.
Oh, that's a fun fact. Two.

Oh. We have this birdies
for charity thing going.

It's a wonderful opportunity
for you to donate.

Webster Bank is matching with 15%.

I was looking for more ways to get money
coming in.

But anyway, championship game, I go, hey,
let's give

five points per bucket for Bender.

Let's give.

Was it two bucks? Oh no, it was five.

It was five.

Oh yeah, it was a dollar for tie,
five for you, ten for Bender

per point.

So I had 20.

That's 20.

You had 19.

That's 95.

Do the math.

Bender had zero.

Sorry that's zero I was I was wrong.

So that's 115 total Billy

took that
and donated it to Birdie's a charity.

That's that I just mentioned.

So Billy always a good friend.

Thank you for dropping 19.

Ty drop 20.

I was surprised when I got five.

Obviously my season high,
my season average was like

4 to 19 in the championship
and we would all swish on those threes.

Billy, remember that.

All right.

Unbelievable. Playoff bend.

That's it. Are we are we okay.

Yeah I'm sorry.

Oh hold on a second.

Hold on a second.

Oh it's getting high here.

Oh oh not over yet.

Oh what is that. Oh shoot.

It's really coming through.

I mean, this is this is this kind of shot.

Are you excited for.

I do like, we'll be able
to keep up with that even the entire game.

It's hard to dislike them because.

Is he getting the start?

Oh, I'm not sure. With six.

Maybe you don't get some wrong

two with them.

If you're six
man of the year starter goes up up

right
I mean us well it's three one Knicks.

The garden was rocking.

I mean to have Tatum have his best.

He didn't miss 42 didn't miss deep threes.

And like to go out like that
is unfortunate sad stinks I don't want to

you know I hate it for the Knicks
to win this way.

But I'm going to take the dub
tomorrow night.

Came back from three.

LeBron James

yeah the 73 win.

How about against the team with the best
record in the history of the NBA.

How about I text Ty like hey got the best
record in the history of the NBA.

He does something
that nobody else had ever done.

And he led, if I remember in 2016
about the time that you hit me

in the door, if memory serves,

he led both teams in rebounds,

assists, points, steals and blocks.

Is that like has anybody ever done that?

That's all right.

That's like me and the J.

On a regular night.

What.

No. How about Ty?

I'm like,
hey, give me some insight tidbit.

Fun fact on Ben.

Like, you know very well
you're going to give me something good.

Ty writes

fun fact about Ben

he loves LeBron
and thinks LeBron is the Goat.

Like how fun of this fact
are we going here.

But come on Ty

you know

Anthony Mason

love Anthony Mason.

Yeah we have so many I think you might
have to be returning podcast guests.

You 2 billion Fuchs Bill and Ben
the opportunity to be on Billy's rehab.

Listen I'm grateful.

Thank you for having me on
I seriously I mean, for all the stuff

that I give you on a daily basis, I am.

Amazed by all the work that you do,
that you continue

to put in, all the effort that you put
into trying to help people grow.

And I think that it's amazing,
and it's an example that I

thanks future.

Well, I had a blast talking to
lots of laughs, a lot of razzing

heating up, dissing
whatever you want to call it, roasting.

But I love it. I would welcome it.

I, welcome it.

And I was going to say so oh the J.

I want to thank the J.

Not only does it provide a wonderful
opportunity to swim workout, play,

but you network.

And I met some wonderful friends,
Billy Ty Bender,

Jim Roy near.

We didn't get enough about near
but near hosted us at the Fini.

Fuchs and his wife cooked some wonderful.

Hello.

Whenever you have made a mistake,
I can just give it to me.

Why? Why, Greg?

Greg called qualifier Greg.

He's got in my arm every time.

Every time

game. Cancel. Dude,
you just got me cancel.

I don't know, captain.

Scotty. Mac. Andy.

Oh, Scotty. Mac or Andy.

Thank you.

You are sponsoring the podcast.

Great community. I'm happy to be here.

Oh, no, I do.

I think the JCC does provide

an incredible resource
to where I'm a member of the board.

Oh, you are have.

I'm happy to be a part of the finance
committee there.

But I think it's a great place
to a wonderful place to play basketball.

Have. No. Yeah. No.
Thank you so much to the J.

Wonderful people over there.

Shout out to Brad Drazen.

He's on the board.

He was in the league
also a guy, and he was on episode 53.

Brad Raisin.

Raisin was the one that Brad
who used to wear the mouthpiece.

Oh, yeah, he was

he was nuts.

You see him on TV? Such a nice guy.

Nice guy on the court
comes out when the rebound goes up. Yes.

You're like, I would not know if I'm.

If I boxed him out, that's fine.

But if I'm anywhere to the side of him.

Yeah, he's got the rebound.

It's okay I remember
he like jumped over my back like, oh.

So big guy Grayson like two years ago
invited me to breakfast with Josh Malcolm.

And, we're sitting down reading
and at the end of the breakfast,

we're just talking was like,
thanks for being a part of it, you know?

Sorry.
You're on the finance committee now.

And I said, I'm sorry.

What?

You kids, I'm kind of busy.

The second

they know you're going to be on
Tuesday. As.

Okay, great.

And then it's like, oh, you're
now the head of the audit committee.

Oh, that's something I've never done
before.

I can't wait to be a part of that.
Very excited.

And then like nine months later, like,
all right, you're on the board now.

That's called being volun told.

Yeah. No, that's a great strategy Brad.

Yes, it kind of Volun told

you were Volun
told you're coming on this podcast.

Well, let's wrap it up.

But I don't know if you read my my mug.

Hold on. Let me sit with this. Great.

Having tea with you.

Who's the LeBron?

What's that say.

Read that to read
that to everyone at home.

Police.

Now read it for real, though.

This is what the world's best
teacher looks like.

Yes, yes, like Michael Scott had to buy
that for himself, but that's okay.

That doesn't make it not true.

Why lower the credibility?

I just I'm sure it's there.

It's in writing.

So with that being said.

Oh, hold on, it came with a card.

Thank you to my friend Zoe.

This year you've taught me
how to do multiplication fractions

and to be a good friend to.

Everyone says it right here.

Give me your hand. Write it.

I wrote it with my left hand.

Do you have a favorite teacher
before we close?

Favorite teacher?

Man on the spot.

Mrs. individual, my fifth grade teacher

who taught us about the Holocaust.

And was herself a survivor and,

you know, she felt like she was 100 back
when I was in fifth grade

in Tennessee, and she,

is just one of those teachers that cared.

And you don't have to go crazy
when you're a teacher,

but when people know that you care,
it's just a different level.

Well said it, she cares.

Oh that's why you're a Titans fan.
We don't have to go there.

But you're born in Tennessee
and Tennessee.

Raised in Tennessee.

All right.

This is the Feeney Talks with Friends
podcast.

We're friends of Fuchs today.

Upcoming events.

Quickly though we have a memorial day
parade looking for sponsors.

We have a Hartford
Athletic game on six six.

We have a Bristol Blues game on 712.

We have our friends of Feeney, friends
of Nicholas fourth annual Yard Goats

game on August 16th,
and our fourth annual golf tournament 15.

We have our fourth annual golf tournament,
which Fuchs Financial

is a exclusive whole sponsor
for the second year in a row.

So with all his words being said,
I really thank you.

You're very generous,
you're very thoughtful.

You're a good friend.

And let's go.

Next we're going to say be a good friend
on three or you add something.

First.

I will say I,

I wasn't going to say what you just said,
but I'll say this where I be good friend,

I'm ready. You want to come down?

I wouldn't want to take your show,
but you're on TV.

Thank you all for being friends with you.

People here, one, two, three.

Friends of meaning. No. Be a good friend.

One, two.

Three. Be a good friend.
