what is going on everybody

welcome to lunch with the

clydesdale it is lunch time

time to chill out and I've

got dart cam for another

day and I've got a dart and

we're gonna try it

sometimes the pressure gets

to me we'll see what

happens today not too

shabby uh about an inch and

a half two inches from

uh, the bullseye, um, but not too bad.

So it's not too bad.

We'll take it.

All right.

Bye-bye dark cam.

Go back to solo view.

And we are going to kick

dark cam out of the conversation.

So what's going on, everybody?

Uh,

fun times here at the Schweitzer

household.

Um,

It is.

I don't know if you guys know this.

I work for the state of Ohio.

I'm sure I've said that five billion times,

but it is public employee

recognition week.

Check it out.

Check it out.

Got this postcard from them

congratulating me on being

a public employee.

I don't know.

Can you see the stain in the

middle of the postcard?

I think that's printed on there.

um so yeah they really put

some care into this nice

little stain in the middle

it's not even like raised

or anything like like there

was tape or something there

um it's looks like it's

printed a printed stain on

our postcard so there we go

happy public employee week so

My phone is making noise

again like it did last time

with dark cam.

I got to get better at dark cam.

That's for sure.

So got that.

Before I get into some of

the CrossFit stuff,

I went home to Pennsylvania

this weekend to celebrate

my mom's eightieth birthday.

It was such a good time.

Got to see some old friends.

But more importantly, my dad,

who passed away in twenty twenty,

I got to see my dad's

family and my immediate

family have not spoken

since nineteen eighty two.

other than one cousin that

my dad had and he was still close with.

That cousin actually showed

up at my mom's birthday party,

and there's been a lot of

anger at my dad's family

because of some things that

they did back then.

But I had some good memories

of my grandparents,

and I was having a hard

time reconciling it all.

And what was awesome is I

got to sit down with my

dad's cousin and I was

telling him memories and he

had similar memories and

he's like in between my

dad's age and my age.

So he's a little bit younger

and we got to kind of

reconcile some things where

I kind of understood where

the good memories came from

because there's been a lot

of anger and resentment

towards my dad's family for

a very long time.

But I realized this weekend

not all of it was bad.

The ending was bad.

Some things my grandmother

did was very bad.

But I remember some things

with my grandfather that

were very good and I was

having a hard time figuring

out why I was having these

memories when all I'm being

told from my mom and my dad

is the bad stuff.

So it was really,

really interesting to get to talk to him

Um, and go through all that.

My grandfather had a farm

and I used to go out into

the garden and he had a massive garden,

like farm size garden.

Um,

and we used to pick beans and we used

to pick root vegetables and

all that kind of stuff and

just eat them in the field.

And he used to salt cure his

own hams in the barn and, um,

like I remember all that

stuff and like kind of

learning the process of all

that and they were such

cool memories I had but I

just couldn't reconcile it

with the the way everything ended

And it actually ended when

my grandfather died in

nineteen eighty two.

And we went to the funeral

and my family wasn't even

allowed to sit in the same

room as my grandfather.

We were put out in an annex

for the funeral.

And that was kind of the

last straw for my dad.

And then we didn't talk to

them again until.

Well, really, never.

My grandmother died a few

years ago and and nothing

ever really kind of reconciled.

My dad tried a couple of times without us.

But yeah.

So it was a really amazing

weekend to kind of capture all that,

catch up on all that,

and to celebrate my mom.

So really feel blessed that

we got to do all that.

Andrew Sten says,

volunteer applications open

for age group games.

so if you want to come to

columbus uh check out that

volunteer application if

you're coming in make sure

you get booked through one

of the block hotels uh that

are on the legends website

for the the age group

crossfit games that is the

way we talked about it last

night on the show and bob

jennings talked about it on

the master chatter podcast

that that is the only way

the city of Columbus can

see the return on

investment for the event

coming into Columbus.

And they are really looking

to build a long-term

relationship with the city of Columbus.

And the more ROI that the city sees,

the more they will invest in the event.

And so that's really

important that if you're

coming in as a spectator or

a volunteer or an athlete,

that you look at booking

your hotel stay at one of

the block hotels that has

been set up for Legends and

the age group games.

So make sure you do that.

It's through their website.

And they have like, I think it's, he said,

twelve different hotels.

And there are a lot of them

already booked.

already around there's like

twelve of them around the

convention center and they

have different amenities

some of them have full

kitchens some of them are

attached to the convention

center there's actually two

hotels that are the hilton

and the hyatt are both

connected to the convention

center where you don't even

have to go outside uh to go

from your room to the

convention center um and

there's so much to do right

around uh it's a you can walk to

thirty forty restaurants

from the convention center

or that area of the hotels

so it's really convenient

there's a Kroger just up the street and

The Whole Foods is a little

bit of it you'd have to drive to.

I know if you're into the

Whole Foods thing,

you'd have to drive a little way.

But it is very walkable if

you're just going to

restaurants and different.

And they have all kinds of

food from super healthy to

super unhealthy.

So it's really good.

uh jay birch already signed

up haven't done a hotel yet

yeah make sure you go

through the block that it's

super important uh to

support uh the age group

games and jay birch says

anyone looking at

semi-final videos yet um I

know the savant podcast was

looking at a lot last night

I had a hard time getting

through that after we were

done last night um I did a

little bit this morning

I know they've already found

a couple like shuttle run discrepancies,

maybe some round reporting discrepancies.

So I'm sure some things will be adjusted.

But we'll take a quick look

at the leaderboard while

we're sitting here.

So we did this last night a little bit.

We had a lot of news to get through,

so here we go.

So here are your top eleven.

It's Jeff Adler, Jay Crouch, Dallin Pepper,

James Sprague, Tudor Magna, Jason Hopper,

Ricky Garrard, Justin Medeiros,

Enrico Zanoni, Colin Boshard,

Harry Lightfoot.

with Yonakoski and Chris

Ibarra just on the outside looking in.

Again,

there's already been some

discrepancies found,

so I am sure that there's

going to be some

adjustments to some points

as we keep moving forward.

I think the first eight are

no surprise at all.

I think when you get to nine,

ten and eleven,

those have Colin and Harry

have always been borderline

games athletes.

Enrico Zanoni has gone to the games once.

So him going back is a bit of a surprise.

Koski being out that just

one place out just seems to

be his new place in life.

We looked it up last night.

He's only thirty two years old,

but he's been around so long.

It feels like he's like

thirty five or thirty six.

Chris Ibarra made his first

games last year.

He's just on the outside looking in.

And then you have people

like Sam Kwan who have made

the games a lot.

William Leahy, who is an up and comer.

Nick Matthew,

who's made the games a couple of times.

uh bkg who was trying to

make it his eleventh time

sitting in twenty second

place um it was a really

tough field to make top

eleven uh uh we'll but

we'll see what happens with

the adjustments for sure

what really really really

complicates this is because

this leaderboard does not

close down for two weeks

next two weekends we'll have

in-person semi-finals and

the top two from those two

events the french throwdown

and um tfx will lock up

their spots before this

closes meaning that if

someone from this list gets

one of those four spots in

the men and four spots in

the women then they will be

backfilled on this leaderboard

Again,

nothing can be simple with the

CrossFit season,

and we have to over-explain everything,

which makes things tough.

But that is how this is working.

So we have one week of public review,

and I know probably Andrew

and Jay Birch will be doing

that this week as they are

completely qualified to do that.

I know Denise Moore said

last night that she was

going to dive into it.

And Lana Marcin,

she's going to do the

top-twenty in both sides for sure,

which I think is awesome.

But, yeah.

Any surprises for you guys

on the men's side?

Then we have the women,

where we have Ariel Loewen, Sierra Meja,

And we had Lynn in the chat

last night talking to us about Sierra.

She looks like she had good

movement in the videos.

Looks like she may not see any penalties,

but she was in second place.

Alexis Raptus in third,

Kerstetter in fourth.

Annika Greer could not be happier for her.

Been following her career

for the last five years.

and her just missing the

game so many times even the

team games missing by one

point um this will be her

first trip to the crossfit

games if she receives no

penalty um and that is awesome

uh caroline stanley in sixth

brooke wells in seventh

maddie sturt in eighth

danielle brandon ninth

haley adams ninth grace

walton in eleventh and amy

kringle in twelfth so that

has changed since last night this was

Um,

Grace Walton and Amy Kringle were tied

for eleventh with Amy

Kringle getting the tiebreaker.

Now,

Grace Walton has moved ahead of Amy

Kringle by one point.

So that actually changes who

goes in that eleventh spot.

Um,

So that's actually kind of big news.

Because Amy Kringle had a

forty ninth place finish,

which I think is the lowest

finish it was last night of

any qualifying athlete.

And now that forty ninth has

knocked her out.

And she got a first place finish.

And so there was somebody

that was ahead of her on

workout five that a score

has apparently already been removed.

because she's now sitting in

first on that event and

that was the event that

actually gave her the

tiebreaker over gracie

walton but apparently um

but apparently something

happened there and they

removed that score already

um boss man is saying that

apparently brookwell's

workout one is getting some

attention let's hit the video

I see we have an AFJ member judging.

Boss man,

do we know why she's getting attention?

Can I fast forward to a certain spot?

Measurements being done.

So one comment I have heard

since last night is that

all the proven videos are

done at a very big distance,

and the rig conveniently

blocks some of the movements.

I would say the extension on

that muscle-up is questionable as well.

I know they have to keep

everything in frame, but daggum.

Watch extension on the top here.

That hit quick, but

That's fast.

But I think she hit on those

now that I've blown it up a little bit.

We'll look at the squats.

Man, I would say that's a no rep.

Probably one no rep in those six.

The first three were really, really iffy.

Ooh.

Yep.

I see where the later reps

are better than the first reps, but man,

I,

I do not see her below parallel on

those first three squats.

Alexa squats are borderline too.

Corey says,

I'd say two in that second set

of ring muscle-ups or no reps,

not locking out the dip.

Yeah,

that's where I think it's really

touchy at the top.

That first one's good.

Those are better.

Uh,

the issue with these videos is you

can't see if they are past

the line or see depth on their squats.

Yeah.

The camera's so far away

because of having to

capture the whole floor.

Andrew, I've actually blown up the video,

so it's easier to see each

movement because the camera

was so far away.

I don't believe she's out of frame when I,

if I actually put it at the normal size,

she's got, she'll be in frame.

You can see there,

but then it makes it harder

to see any of the movements

at that distance.

Like that last muscle up was rough.

And you can't really see the

squat depth at that distance either.

So that's why I'm kind of

blowing it up just so you can see it.

It's going to be interesting

to see because I think

there are definitely some

questionable reps on this one.

Does it have any?

Twenty needs reviews already.

And we found out last night

that an email went out to

the judges saying that they

must put in a comment if

they're gonna do a down

vote of needs review.

So there you can see, Andrew,

that you can see the handstand walk.

And I didn't even have it fully out.

Andrew,

I think they could have done the

handstand walk parallel to the rig.

That would have allowed them

to get closer.

I don't disagree with you,

but it's all going to

depend on what room each, each gym has.

Um, and that's where doing it online,

you have these variables

that you can't control when

you give up the control of

the floor plan and the

distance and all of those things.

You, uh,

you really give up a lot of

control over this and

CrossFit's done that by

making this an online event.

Not only is it the judging,

but it's also just

different camera angles,

different layouts.

Yeah, I think you're right.

In this particular video,

she had plenty of room to

do the handstand walk

parallel to the rig.

And then she could have

gotten the camera closer.

But even on this,

she has some space to move

that camera at least a few

feet closer to everything

going on and still have

everything in frame.

That muscle-up was rough.

Yeah, they're getting worse.

Let's see this set.

And Jay Birch corrected me.

Even good votes have to have a comment.

Yeah.

Yeah, that was not locked out.

That not locked out.

Yeah,

I bet we're going to see some

adjustments to scores in

the top eleven for sure.

so any surprises on the

female side that we were

going through I was really

really bummed for carolyn I

she is such a good online

um competitor I had her

picked in my top eleven um

I really thought last night

we were going to be

celebrating her ticket to the games um

She's such a great athlete.

But again,

we'll see what happens with all

of these points adjustments.

She has a long hill to climb,

but you just never know.

And her burpee.

So Train to Live,

whose burpees are you pointing out?

um daniel brandon's videos

are getting some attention

because uh she didn't like

how she was being coached I

think that's just a that's

typical athlete um that that um

that is fueled by fire.

And that is what Danielle is.

She, she gets pretty fired up.

And in those moments you

there's tension and you're,

you're going to lash out at times.

And I think that's what

happened with Danielle.

And that's,

that's just the athlete she is.

It's really funny, though,

because they've already

made an adjustment because

they've pretty much said

that this week was the public review,

and then public review would go down,

and then CrossFit would make the change.

And so unless maybe the

athlete withdrew her score because she,

and I think it would have

been workout five.

So what is workout five?

I'm just putting aerials on

here because so I can see

what the workout is.

So it's the row workout and

the toes to bar.

Man, how consistent is she?

Those toes to Bart look beautiful.

and the rope climbs.

Those are all things that Ariel's good at.

She, she didn't win any events.

She won the overall

semifinal at this point.

Um,

but she just was consistent all weekend

long, uh, which was really good for her.

Uh,

and no needs review so far on this

workout for her.

Um,

But it's so cool to see what

she's doing in like the

second half of her career.

On the lung workout,

do your arms have to be fully locked out?

I don't know what you mean

by the lung workout.

Do you mean the thirty minute AMRAP?

I'll be honest because I was

traveling all weekend.

I didn't,

the workouts are not ingrained

into my brain like they

normally would be.

I can't imagine any movement

in CrossFit where your arms

don't have to be locked out.

Overhead walking lunge.

See,

I don't think the standard generally

in an overhead walking

lunge is that you have to be locked out,

but your dumbbells could

not touch and they have to

remain above your head.

But the stress and the

tension on your arms to

have a bent elbow would

wear you down quickly.

Did you see someone with the bent arm,

Aaron?

D. Reed,

do you think the community judging

will bring in a bias

against certain athletes?

Example being overly

critical or overly easy on the standards?

The judges I know are very...

The judges I know want to do

the best job they can possibly do.

What I do think the bias

comes in is they will make

sure they watch the videos

of people that they don't

think move well.

More so than the people... I

think if you have a good

reputation of moving well,

you'll probably get

reviewed less than if you are...

just danny spiegel did not

compete in this danny

spiegel is known as not a

good mover she is on

hiller's hit list I am sure

people will watch her

videos much more closely

than someone like ariel who

is known to be a very good

mover I think that's where

the bias comes in I don't

think the judges I've known

and that I've worked with would not

who have judged at the

highest levels would not

make decisions based on their bias.

I think they would make

decisions based on what they see,

but I do think they would

review known bad movers

more than good movers.

And when I was judging back

in the late teens,

like Brooke was known as a bad mover,

especially when she went to

the inverted position.

Um, we were,

we were basically told to

watch for her technique and

even with other athletes, she,

it was called the Brookwell's move on the,

um, handstand pushup where she, um,

her hips were not a fully

extended and her butt would

be up against the wall.

We were told to look for that.

She was known for that.

So yeah,

I think then people look for that

more because that is their reputation.

So Aaron says,

on Ricky's IG of that workout.

Well, let's see his actual workout.

Which workout was that?

Was it this one?

There we go.

Yeah, I would not call that a no rep.

Both heads of the dumbbell

are higher than his head,

and they're not touching.

Yeah,

I think the showed capacity thing has

to have gone out the window

at some point.

Now we actually need to see the reps.

What I appreciate with Ricky

is at least he's using a

high def camera or a four K

camera where we can actually see.

Yeah, I think, uh, D Reed has it right.

Ricky held dumbbells overhead.

They did not touch and he

held them by the handles.

I think that is allowed.

would not know rep him for

that and good to see the

butt on the back side of

the ghd mat there um sorry

uh aaron fraser I thought

the standard was dumbbells

could not touch and you had

to hold the dumbbells by

the handles not by the

weight part of the demo that is correct

And they have to remain over the head.

Now,

if those dumbbells would fall below

the head,

then it's a no rep because then

it is no longer overhead.

That is where I would

struggle on this one.

My bent arms would be where

the dumbbell may fall below my head.

Now that right arm is really

getting close to falling below the head.

So I think that as this workout goes on,

that is something that will

need to be watched on Ricky

is his right arm is getting

more and more bent.

And if the heads of the

dumbbell fall below,

see that right arm left as

we're looking at it is

getting really close to

getting below his head.

And that last there,

I might have no repped.

So.

Oh, I'm not sharing the screen.

Oh, sorry.

Yeah, that might help.

Okay,

I'm going to go back because on this last,

here we go.

Now,

if you look as he gets to the end of this,

look how that left arm is

falling below the head.

And my guess is that's only

going to get progressively

worse as this workout goes on.

Here's his next set of, and watch this,

this arm and that dumbbell head.

And that's really close going down.

Did he make it over the line on that?

So here he is coming back

and now we're watching on this side.

See how that arm is getting

more and more bent and that

Dumba head is falling below his head.

does he not have to cross

this line oh it steps

that's right that's right

sorry again on the road

this weekend I've been like

I've been on the road nine

days out of the last twelve

or thirteen I am ready to

be home um but yeah so

that's what we're looking

at it looks like there

there is a good chance

we're going to get some

adjustments I'm just

looking at some of these videos

D Reed says, uh, Dallin's reps,

Dallin's GHDs and workout too.

All right.

I'll share that screen.

Holy smokes.

How can you even see that?

And this is him here, correct?

Wow, his dumbbells are... Those are money.

back on Ricky uh boss man

says those dumbbells are

not overhead that's a no-go

for me sorry not sorry yeah

I I have to agree with you

so here we are ghds ooh he

is right on top of the pad

would say more over than

under and they'll sometimes

it scoots up but the

majority of them I would

except for those that one

where he scoots forward a

little bit that's where I

think they're bad um and I

think he'll get a handful

of no reps on that

If you look at the pad, though,

and you're straight up and down,

the majority of his reps

are on the backside.

It's not very far on the backside,

but I think it is past that center line.

When he scoots up,

he's sliding forward on a

few of those reps,

and I do think he could get

some no reps on that.

Aaron, the standard should be behind.

But if you look at the picture,

it is a straight perpendicular line up.

And it doesn't say how far behind.

If he's one inch behind or

six inches behind, he's still behind.

So I think like those are okay.

It's when he, that one,

those where he slides

forward because he's so

close to the line.

Those are forward.

What are you saying?

Do you read you saying that I am biased?

I'm not biased.

I'm just trying to go.

They're not all no reps.

There is a line perpendicular.

His hips are behind it.

It doesn't say it has to be

six inches behind it.

It just says it has to be behind it.

Now,

when he scoots forward on a couple of

those,

he goes over that perpendicular line,

and then it is a no rep.

That is my humble opinion as

a former judge.

Just saying.

I think he is flirting with the line.

And when he scoots forward,

he loses the line.

When he stays behind it, he's fine.

D Reed says we can agree to disagree.

So I would,

I would say every fourth rep

needs to be reviewed.

When he slides forward,

you would say all no reps

and then CrossFit would

come in and make the final

determination on a related topic.

Dallin is freaking huge.

hoppers ghd's are perfect

right see t-bird says it

common no rep setting up

with the hips in front of

the middle of the pad

He does not get to the front

of the middle unless he slides forward.

When he is staying his typical GHD setup,

he is behind the line barely,

but he is behind it.

Thank you for that, T-Bird.

Okay.

So...

Yep,

I think we're going to see some

scoring adjustments for

sure in this top eleven.

It's going to be interesting

to see how that plays out all next week.

We'll be watching them.

Andrew Sten, who has done video review.

I hate video review.

It's like calling a no rep

from the stands.

I agree with you one hundred percent,

Andrew.

I would rather judge all day

on a floor than do a couple

hours of video review.

Video review is so hard.

Every angle is different.

There's no standardization.

You know, you can't slow it down.

You can't pause it if you're

doing it correctly.

And if I blow this,

if I have this at normal size,

this is nearly impossible

to see those GHD setups.

But at least they're not

using a Motorola Razr from.

To video this like that

we've seen in the past.

At least that's a good four K camera.

But why does the camera have

to be this far back?

When we have all this

footage from here to there,

unless they are,

they are videoing both of these,

both Hopper and him at the same time.

So I wonder what Hopper's video submission,

if it's the same one.

It is not.

So why do they have to have

it that far back?

They stop their steps way up here.

You could move that camera

to here and still get everything.

So there's no need to be

that far away unless you're

trying to hide something.

And all of the proven video

videos are like this too.

Uh,

Andrew says to make it harder to see

the GHD reps.

It's on purpose.

I do not disagree.

I think this is all intentional.

Now hopper strides make it

where the video might have

to be back a little bit further.

Corey, it's not the same camera.

I just bounced from one to the other.

On Dallin's clock and Dallin's camera,

you can see the little

clock on the floor.

You cannot see that on this video.

This one,

they're relying on this clock all

the way back here.

Dallin's video has a clock

on the floor and it's taken

from an angle further out.

Andrew says since the lunges

are for steps and not for

distance the camera can be

on the opposite side of the

ghd is the ghd is the most

important part to judge.

That is correct.

yeah like rickie's video exactly.

So.

Wow, that was a fast... Forty-five minutes,

my lunch hour's gone.

We'll be here all week.

We'll keep checking in on

different things.

Like we found out today,

we already know that one

scoring adjustment has happened,

and now the tie has been

broken on the women's side

for the eleventh place position.

Grace Walton in, Amy Kringle out.

Because of that one scoring adjustment,

and that gave...

and what's crazy is it gave

Amy Kringle the win on that.

Uh,

but for some reason it made a one point

difference in favor of Grace Walton when,

and maybe it was other

scores that the person just

removed their complete

effort because they messed

up workout five.

So with that, um,

have a big change um

yesterday amy kringle was

in and today she's out uh

grace walton was out now

she's in but I'm sure

there's going to be more

shake up as we go forward

we saw the brook wells

video let's see what

crossfit does there um

though there's many suspect

reps during that video and

I'm not trying to pick on

anybody that's just who we

kind of looked at today to

kind of get a trend as to

what was happening um and with that guys

It's time for you

knuckleheads to get back to work.

I'm going to get back to work as well.

And we'll be back on

Wednesday with Lunch with Clydesdale.

Tomorrow,

my wife is having her second knee

surgery.

So I will be out of pocket for tomorrow.

But we'll be back on Wednesday.

Let everybody know how that went.

And we'll see if the

leaderboard has changed at all since now.

Talk to you all then.

Bye, guys.

if I can find the right button,

which I never can find.
